411’s WWE - ECW and Smackdown Rankings 11.05.07
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.05.2007

Special thanks to THE WIFE for her awesome graphics and contributions to the column.

The Criteria:
The Csonka Commission will try to use a formula of some of, if not all of the following to determine the rankings:
-Wins and Losses
-Popularity
-Shoe Size
-Strength of Schedule
-Golf Handicap
-Championship Pedigree
-Defeating Champions in Non-Title Affairs
-Christi's assessment of their ring gear
-If you are named #1 Contender by the Promotion

CHAMPION: CM Punk
Championship Won: September 4th
Defenses: - V. Elijah Burke 9.16.07
V. Big Daddy V 10.07.07
V. The Miz 10.28.07

  • The Contenders:
#11. John Morrison - Last Ranked: 2nd John Morrison may have missed out of the fan voting at Cyber Sunday, but since his return he has been on a roll. He has a win over CM Punk in a non-title match, and this week defeated the Miz to become the #1 contender to the ECW Title. John Morrison will get his chance at the title this Tuesday on ECW on Sci-Fi, can Morrison be the true Guru of greatness and win the ECW Title for a second time?

#22. Big Daddy V - Last Ranked: 1st Without a doubt Big Daddy V is still the most dominating force in ECW today. He has run rampant over the ECW roster and has not been pinned or submitted as of today. While he did not see success in the Monster Mash Battle Royal, he is still the scariest man on the entire roster, and until someone defeats him, that will not change.

#33. Kane - Last Ranked: N/A With the Smackdown/ECW partnership in full force, the Csonka Commission has no choice but to take that into consideration when doing the new rankings. That being said, Kane has been on a roll since coming over to ECW. The big red machine may find new life on the ECW show, and if he is motivated, everyone better watch out. Kane is looking for another title run, and the ECW Title is as good as any title.

#44. The Miz - Last Ranked: 4th The Miz got the fan vote for Cyber Sunday and had his chance at the ECW Title. Miz had possibly his best performance to date in ECW, but came up short in his effort to win the title. He had a chance for another title shot this week on ECW, but fell to the former champion John Morrison. The Miz has a lot of potential, but with the loss and Ball Mahoney on his heels, he has a full plate to deal with.

#55. Elijah Burke - Last Ranked: 5th Young Elijah saw a very bad streak for a while, but has now put some wins together and hangs onto the 5th spot this time around. The once proclaimed "New Face of ECW" has seemingly got through a bad spell, and if he can continue to put wins together, he could be a threat again for the ECW Title.

  • CHAMPION: Batista
    Championship Won: September 16th
    Defenses: - V. The Undertaker 10.07.07

  • The Contenders:
#11. The Undertaker - Last Ranked: 4th The Undertaker got his latest title shot at Cyber Sunday, and once again he and Big Dave put on quite the show. Batista finally got the monkey off of his back and defeated the Undertaker. But the feud is NOT over, as they are now tied at 1-1, with two draws. They need to resolve the feud, and they will do so at Survivor Series in a HELL…IN…A…CELL Match! These men will look to destroy each other, and since this match is set, Taker takes the #1 spot. I am sure we'll be in for another great show with these two.

#22. MVP - Last Ranked: 2nd In a nod to the old school top 10 lists, the secondary singles; in this case the US Champion automatically garners the #2 contender's spot. MVP is certainly on the rise and could easily vault into the World Title Scene at any time. Add into the equation that he is now one half of the tag team champions and MVP is without a doubt BAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLIN~! The man holds two titles as of now, and really should get a shot at the big gold belt.

#33. Rey Mysterio - Last Ranked: 3rd Rey Mysterio has been entrenched in battle with Finlay for weeks now, but at Cyber Sunday Rey finally got the big win, defeating Finlay in a stretched match. With the win Mysterio cements his place as the #3 contender for the title, and who ever wins the next Batista/Taker match will have to deal with a determined Mysterio; who wants another shot to carry the big gold.

#44. The Great Khali - Last Ranked: 1st The Great Khali is in limbo since losing the World Title. Originally he was to be a part of a World Title match at Cyber Sunday, but plans have changed and he now has no direction. He's a part of the freak show with Kane, Henry and Big Daddy V. With his size and strength he is definitely a threat to the title, but I don't see it in his future.

#55. ECW Champion CM Punk- Last Ranked: N/A In a nod to the old school top 10 lists, the secondary singles; in this case the ECW Title gets an automatic slot in the 5th place, ala the old WCW TV Title.

  • CHAMPION: MVP
    Championship Won: May 20th
    Defenses: -V. Ric Flair 6.24.07
    V. Matt Hardy 7.22.07
    V. Kane 10.28.07

  • The Contenders:
#11. ECW Champion CM Punk- Last Ranked: N/A What's this you ask? That's right ladies and gentleman, ECW Champion CM Punk is now recognized as the #1 contender to the US Title. With the crazed ECW/Smackdown melting pot we have, the Csonka Commission has decided that Punk will be the recognized #1 contender for this belt. Matt Hardy has seem limited singles action, Chuck Palumbo suffered a loss to Chris Masters, Kane is a challenger for the ECW title and Finlay has lost to Rey. With all of that being taken into consideration, CM Punk is the easy choice for #1 contender for the title.

#22. Matt Hardy - Last Ranked: 2nd Matt Hardy will stay in the #2 spot this time around. He is still the most likely challenger for the title, but the tag title run with MVP and recent injury are slowing that chase down. Hardy missed a shot at the Cyber Sunday show, and will have to be medically cleared before he can even get back into the ring, let alone challenge for the US Title.

T#3T3. Chuck Palumbo - Last Ranked: 1st Chuck Palumbo's loss to Chris Masters derailed some important momentum that he was building. With Hardy looking to get a shot soon and CM Punk in the equation, Custom Chucky P falls to third this time around.

T#3T3. Kane - Last Ranked: 4th With his recent appearances on ECW and count out win over MVP at Cyber Sunday, Kane is looking more motivated than ever. With that in mind, Kane is now considered in the same light as Palumbo. He could challenge and win at any time, but it is unlikely at this time, even with the win over MVP on Smackdown.

#45. Fit Finlay - Last Ranked: 3rd With his loss to Rey Mysterio at Cyber Sunday, Finlay takes a fall in the rankings as well this time around. After scoring a big win over Kane, Finlay was unable to follow up on that and could not solve the puzzle that was Rey Mysterio. Finlay is still a dangerous man, but is also not looking to contend for the title anytime soon.

  • CHAMPIONS: MVP and Matt Hardy
    Championship Won: August 31st
    Defenses: - V. Deuce and Domino 9.16.07
    V. Deuce and Domino 10.05.07

  • The Contenders:

    1. Jesse and Festus - Last Ranked: 2nd The new team of Jesse and Festus has taken the Smackdown world by storm. They are undefeated and have looked great in their matches thus far, and have worked their way up to the top of the rankings. With Matt Hardy injured, the tag champs may have bought themselves some time, as I see Jesse and Festus battling Deuce and Domino for the #1 contender's spot. Those are the faces of a finely tuned tag team.

    2. The Brothers of Destruction (Kane and the Undertaker) - Last Ranked: 1st While they haven't tagged together since defeating the tag champs, everyone else has been losing in the division so the Brothers of Destruction will maintain in the 2nd slot this time around.

    3. Deuce and Domino - Last Ranked: 3rd Deuce and Domino have certainly fallen on hard times since dropping the tag titles. They can't buy a singles win, and then lost last time out to Yang and Moore. They need to get back on track, but Jesse and Festus are in there way and don't look to move anytime soon.

T4. The Major Brothers - Last Ranked: 4th The Major Brothers are currently feuding with Drew McIntyre and Dave Taylor. Although it has only been singles matches, I see the tide turning to tag team action, which should add some more action to a division that was barren, but is not slowly becoming very strong.

T4. Jimmy Yang Wang and Shannon Moore - Last Ranked: N/A Jimmy Yang Wang and Shannon Moore scored a very surprising victory over former tag team champions Deuce and Domino. With the Cruiserweight Division in a state of dismay right now, these men may focus their time in the tag ranks, which would only bolster the strength of the division. They already showed a good chemistry, and have a big win on their resume already.

  • CHAMPION: VACANT
    Championship Won: N/A
    Defenses: - N/A

  • The Contenders:

The status of the title is up in the air, and until WWE makes an official decision, the Cruiserweights will not be ranked.
