The 411 WWE Raw Rankings 11.21.07
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.21.2007
Survivor Series has come and gone, and while there have been no title changes we have had a major impact on the rankings. What happened and how did it change the rankings? Come on into see!
Special thanks to THE WIFE for her awesome graphics and contributions to the column.
The Criteria:
The Csonka Commission will try to use a formula of some of, if not all of the following to determine the rankings:
-Wins and Losses
-Popularity
-Shoe Size
-Strength of Schedule
-Golf Handicap
-Championship Pedigree
-Defeating Champions in Non-Title Affairs
-Christi's assessment of their ring gear
-If you are named #1 Contender by the Promotion
CHAMPION: Randy Orton Championship Won: October 7th 2007 Major Defenses: - V. w/Umaga vs. HHH 10.08.07
V. HBK 10.28.07
V. HBK 11.18.07
The Contenders:
1. Chris Jericho - Last Ranked: NR While some consider it the worst kept secret in professional wrestling, there is no doubt that Chris Jericho made an immediate impact in his second coming to the WWE. Jericho left nothing to the imagination as he made his intentions known Monday night, and those intentions are to take the title from Randy Orton and save the WWE, again. It is because of this that he is propelled to the top of the rankings for the WWE Title.
2. Jeff Hardy - Last Ranked: 2nd In a nod to the old school top 10 lists, the secondary singles champion; in this case the IC Champion automatically garners the #2 contender's spot.
3. HHH - Last Ranked: 2nd HHH takes a small fall this week in the rankings. While the Game is an 11-time champion, and always a threat, right now he is concerned with taking out Umaga and Snitsky, with help of new friend, through respect, Jeff Hardy.
4. HBK - Last Ranked: 1st HBK was caught in a moment of hesitation at Survivor Series. He wanted to use the superkick, but knew it would spell an end to the match and his hopes of another title shot. When Orton refused to grant him another match, Kennedy made it known that HBK had his chance and that it as Kennedy's time. Can HBK fight off the determined youngster, or will Kennedy make a name off of the SHOW STOPPA?
5. Ken Kennedy - Last Ranked: 4th Kennedy finds himself staying in the top ranks here as he was a part of the Survivor Series match this past weekend, and then made his presence known this Monday, challenging Shawn Michaels. This could be the big break that Kennedy is looking for, as a win over HBK will propel him upwards in the rankings.
CHAMPION: Jeff Hardy Championship Won: September 3rd Defenses: -V. Shelton Benjamin 9.17.07
The Contenders:
1. Ken Kennedy - Last Ranked: 1st While Kennedy has his sights set on Shawn Michaels, the Csonka Commission also feels that with unfinished business Jeff Hardy he is still the recognized #1 contender for the IC Title at this time.
2. Umaga - Last Ranked: 2nd Umaga stays right where his is after a good Survivor Series performance and a great match against Hardy on Raw. The Samoan Bulldozer is deadly when focused, and is a real threat to the IC Title.
T3. Hardcore Holly - Last Ranked: 3rd Hardcore Holly finally suffered his first loss in singles action this past week on Raw to Cody Rhodes. Holly had three wins over Rhodes, but the youngster finally got the big win and should have earned Holly's respect. Will this derail Holly, or motivate him? Only time will tell us that.
T3. Cody Rhodes - Last Ranked: 4th While their tag title aspirations didn't pan out, Cody finally got a win over Bob Holly and not only improves his stock, but surely has the respect of the veteran. The question is, can he capitalize on the win?
5. Santino Marella - Last Ranked: 4th While Santino Marella had made it into the rankings, he takes a fall this time around as he has taken two straight losses to Jerry Lawler. I expect a PPV match at Armageddon, where Santino will get his win, and move him up the rankings again.
CHAMPIONS: The Redneck Whirling Dervish (Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch) Championship Won: June 4th Defenses: -V. The Hardy's 6.24.07
V. London and Kendrick 9.16.07
V. Rhodes and Holly 11.18.07
The Contenders:
1. The Highlanders - Last Ranked: 1st While Rhodes and Holly won a title, they were quickly shot down and are back to fighting amongst themselves. With that being said the Highlanders are the team that has been on a roll and winning, and they will keep the #1 spot.
2. London and Kendrick - Last Ranked: 2nd Like last time around, I feel that London and Kendrick are no better or worse off than before. They are in tag team limbo, but have the talent to break out and prove to be the champions that they once were.
3. Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes - Last Ranked: 3rd Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes were able to earn a tag title shot, which they got at Survivor Series. They fought hard, but were unable to capture the titles. It now looks as if their team maybe in trouble as BOBCORE was not pleased with the loss. They then faced off on Monday, and while there may be respect there, I believe that there is trouble in paradise.
4. The World's Greatest Tag Team - Last Ranked: 3rd The World's Greatest Tag Team has become the World's Greatest Job Squad. The once proud champions can't buy a win with a coupon, and remain at the bottom of the rankings.
CHAMPION: Beth Phoenix Championship Won: October 7th 2007 Defenses: - V. Candice Michelle 10.22.07
The Contenders:
1. Mickie James - Last Ranked: 1st Mickie James remains the recognized #1 contender this time around. She has been impressive in recent tag matches and scored some big wins, including the big pin at Survivor Series. Mickie seems to be going a bit crazy these days, reverting to her psychopathic lesbian ways, and the Csonka Commission approves of this.
2. Melina - Last Ranked: 2nd Melina keeps her position as #2 contender, due to the fact that she is a former women's champion. She is still largely protected in the booking, being kept away from Beth, and will remain here until something major changes.
3. Jillian Hall - Last Ranked: 4th Jillian Hall only moves up this week due to her being involved in the Survivor Series match and the fact that Candice is still injured. Let's hope Jillian doesn't get injured, as she looked to kill herself on Raw with that 450 splash.
4. Candice Michelle - Last Ranked: 3rd Candice Michelle is still on the injured list and had to be dropped down another slot this time around. The Csonka Commission hopes that she recuperates soon and returns to action.
5. Maria - Last Ranked: 5th Maria has done nothing of note to climb the rankings, and is more a sidekick for Santino these days.
