The Thursday Sat-For-All News Report 12.20.07
Posted by Sat on 12.20.2007
The first ever edition of the Sat For All News Report features some WWE and TNA news. Plus, a video on what happened off air during the RAW 15th Anniversary Show.
Welcome to the first ever edition of the Sat-For-All News Report. Small is at a holiday party, so I am here to fill in for the week.
NEWS FROM TITAN TOWERS
If Bret had shown up at the fifteen anniversary show…
According to the Wrestling Observer (from Gerweck.net), "The original planned ending for the anniversary Raw episode would have seen Vince McMahon being laid out by either The Undertaker or Steve Austin, and concluding with Bret Hart locking on the sharpshooter to end the show. Of course, WWE was unable to get Hart to agree to do the show."
With this ending, the building would have exploded. Personally, I liked the ending that they did where they had the wrestlers come out and celebrate.
What happened after RAW went off the air during the fifteen anniversary show…
This was posted in the 411 forums by Ryan Byers. For those of you that did not see there, here it is.
Jeff Hardy's push…
From the 411 News Section "The word from backstage at RAW last night is that everyone was very happy with Jeff Hardy's work during the Vince McMahon segment and the main event. Everyone was also happy to hear the pop he got when he pinned Randy Orton. The company seems completely behind giving him a big push now and most feel that he is ready for the responsibility.."
Jeff Hardy has looked good as of late and now might be the time to make him a world champion. But, I will say that I do not see it happening.
McIntyre to RAW….
From the 411 News Section, "Drew McIntyre has been moved over to the RAW brand.
This has been reported, but I am having a tough time believing it. He just worked a dark match, so that does not necessarily mean that he is moving to RAW. I do think that it could be a good idea because they could team up McIntyre and DH Smith and have Birchill and Taylor team up on SmackDown.
Reasoning for Carlito staying with the WWE…
From the 411 News Page, "As reported Carlito has been talked into staying with the company. He had a meeting with Vince McMahon on December 3rd and that is when he made the decision to stay. WWE not wanting to give up another "name talent" to TNA is the reason McMahon talked him into staying. WWE feels that there is value in Carlito, especially when they try to expand business into Central and South America.
- Carlito had been upset with his direction and felt he was being punished for his comments in the Ottawa Sun before WrestleMania, when he mentioned not being on the card. Carlos Colon, his father, has also been upset with his son's status in the company. Colon has been frustrated with WWE because he feels that WWC should be a developmental territory for WWE. Colon feels if the deal were to happen, it would help with the long-term survival of the WWC. He pushed to do joint shows in Puerto Rico, but WWE feels that when they go there the people pay to see WWE talent, not local. Also they sell out with no problems.
- The problems with Carlito go all the way back to the Judgment Day PPV. Vince McMahon has been in Carlito's face for his lack of motivation on several occasions. When Carlito went to the ring to face Ric Flair, they went to the ring with no finish so that Vince could evaluate his performance, which many thought was unprofessional. During the match Vince made the call that Flair was going over, and many felt that when Carlito came through the curtain, Vince would fire him. When he came back, Vince just said, "better." Carlito's main complaint is that he doesn't like the character he plays, and wants to be a more edgy heel like he was at the beginning when he feuded with John Cena."
Carlito finally had a good match for once, so maybe he will be motivated. It makes sense to keep Carlito around if the WWE is planning on expanding to South America. As for the Judgment Day match, I will say that was a very good match, so Carlito can bring the goods when he is motivated. Tune into this week's High Road/Low Road because it will be on Carlito staying with the WWE.
The Raw rating…
From the 411 News Page, "Last night's edition of WWE Monday Night Raw scored a 3.5 rating. The show did hours of 3.5 and 3.5.
AM RAW did a 0.8 rating."
The rating is not a surprise. I expected the rating to go down this week because nothing of note was scheduled to happen and it was after a heavily promoted show.
JBL returns to the ring…
From the 411 News Page, "WWE is promoting that JBL will return to the ring on RAW this Monday."
JBL has been great at giving promos and he is decent in the ring. He should be a great addition to RAW. Plus, it makes sense for him to go to RAW because he has feuded with everybody on SmackDown.
The announcing situation on SmackDown and ECW…
From the 411 News Page, "It looks like Tazz will be moved back to the SmackDown commentary team since JBL is heading to RAW to work a program with Chris Jericho. No decision has been made yet about who will replace Tazz on ECW. "
It is a good idea to team Tazz and Michael Cole back together because they were a great team. Not as good as JBL and Michael Cole, but still a good team. The problem is who will take Tazz's place on ECW. Joey Styles would be fine by himself, but I see Brad Armstrong has a possible choice to replace Tazz.
Flair/HHH on RAW in two weeks…
According to WWE.com, "In two weeks, Ric Flair will face Triple H on RAW. If Ric Flair loses then he will have to retire"
This will be a good match because both guys seem to have good chemistry in the ring, but I question the idea of having them face this soon into the retirement angle.
The three Edges…
From the 411 News Page, "The Major Brothers were the ones who dressed up like Edge last night to help him win the World Title. According to the article, Edge told them that if they stick with him, they will win the Tag Team Titles, so it seems as if the three will form some sort of stable."
The three Edges were awesome. The Major Brothers were a lost cause and their alignment with Edge will definitely have a huge impact on their careers. Expect them to capture the tag titles in short order.
NEWS FROM O-TOWN
Rhino's condition….
From the 411 News Page, "Rhino is back in the gym and training again. He missed the last PPV due to family issues and some nagging neck problems."
Rhino has done a good job in TNA and I hope he gets back into the ring soon.
Daniels' storyline…
From the 411 News Page, "TNA is trying to work the Christopher Daniels storyline to the point that he will be working exclusively for independent groups for awhile. Daniels in planned to be off of TNA for "a few months" as part of the firing angle. "
I think that this is a stupid idea. Csonka's idea is much better with Curry Man coming in.
TNA Impact Script Online…
From the 411 News Page, "Who knows how it got there, but it does appear as if the TNA Impact 1/3/08 script floating around the internet is legit. While the show has already been taped, the script does spoil some of the backstage segments. It's also cool to look at for those of you interested in seeing what an Impact script looks like."
I haven't had a chance to read this script yet, so I can't comment on it. Thankfully, I did download it because the link is no longer working.
New backstage producer…
From the 411 News Page, "TNA has hired Glen "Disco Inferno" Gilberti as a backstage producer."
Why was Disco brought as a backstage producer? Wasn't he busted for an illegal gambling ring?
Sting staying with TNA…
From the 411 News Page, " It appears as if Sting has verbally agreed to a new deal with TNA or is close to signing a new deal with the company, which would be for one year. Sting turns 49 early in 2008, and is seen by Dixie Carter as a superstar that can help them land licensing deals and help them appear more major league. Even though the company is expanding the house show circuit moving into 2008, Sting would work very few if any house shows. In the past Spike has been very big on Sting staying with the company, even kicking in a part of his contract salary back in 2006; when he was making $500,000 a year."
Sting has done an awesome job in TNA, so this deal makes sense. Since TNA is increasing their house shows, it would make sense for them to try to get Sting to work at least half of their house shows.
Ron Killings' future…
From the 411 News Page, "Ron Killings is done with the promotion as he took the company up on their offer of a release. He has a full time position available to him in AAA, which is likely where he is heading. It is not known if WWE has any interest in him, but Jeff Hardy and Umaga are pushing hard for WWE to bring Killings in."
Killings has not done a whole lot in TNA for a long time, so it makes sense for him to take his release. I do not see him coming to the WWE, but if he does then we will have a chance to see Ron Killings versus John Cena.
Impact rating….
From the 411 News Page, " TNA Impact did a 1.2 rating Thursday night."
The rating continues to stay in the 1.0 to 1.2 range, which is good for TNA because it is consistent.
