Magnus Books The Midwest 12.21.07: Fallout From The Final Four
Posted by Magnus Donaldson on 12.21.2007

Hello, and welcome to Week 7 of Magnus Books The Midwest. Last week, our first major event, The Final Four took place.

Our Open Stipulation Champion was crowned, as Low-Ki overcame Kevin Steen (who got a bye to the next round), Delirious (victor over Gran Akuma) and Takeshi Morishima (winner over El Generico). However, Takeshi Morishima was screwed out of the title by an interfering Shiima Xion, as that issue has now risen to the next level.
Arik Cannon and B-Boy overcame the challenge of Tyler Black and Marek Brave, defeating them in tag team action. A rematch has been signed for next week.
Sterling James Keenan and his 'monster' manage to dominate Chuck Taylor and Ricochet one again, coming out with the win. Chuck Taylor in an angry rage snapped after the match and hat his own partner with the Omega Driver.
The Kings reigned supreme in six man tag team action over the Chikara team of Eddie Kingston, Jigsaw and Mike Quackenbush, although the Chikara team could have won if not for miss-communication between Jigsaw and Gran Akuma. Hallowicked won a full time roster spot by winning a four way match. Azrieal and Larry Sweeney cost themselves the match by fighting outside the ring.
And Matt Sydal addressed the fans on his payoff of Sterling James Keenan, and seemed defiant that he will prove that he didn't need the help of 'The Monster' to win.

So now we are back with the first show after The Final Four, and there are some big matches in store. Here is what is scheduled:

Main Event, Tag Team Showcase- Kevin Steen and El Generico vs Arik Cannon and B-Boy
Low-Ki will defend the Open Stipulation belt in an open challenge
Loser Leaves Pro Wrestling Midwest
Tyler Black and Marek Brave will be in action, plus more including Sterling James Keenan's 'monster' and more.

As you can see, the Eddie Kingston-Chris Hero match has not been placed on the card. This is because Eddie Kingston was in pretty rough shape both physically and mentally after wrestling two tough matches in the same night. We therefore felt that having the match this week would make things far too easy for Chris Hero with Kingston nowhere near 100%. The match has been pushed forward two shows to give Kingston ample time to recover. We apologise for this last minute change.

Now let's move on to some pre-show news-

Major matches Signed for Next TV Show
We felt that due to the cancellation of the Kingston-Hero match, we needed to announce a few matches to re-assure the fans. So for our next show, we have got some massive matches in store to join the rematch of The Black and The Brave vs The Anarchistic Punishers.

First of all, we will see a Number One Contenders four way, with the winner getting a title shot at our next major event in January. It will be Chuck Taylor vs Kevin Steen vs Mike Quackenbush vs Delirious. This is bound to be a fantastic match, and with one fall winning a title shot, these four are sure to go all out for a victory.

Next, we have a big Open Stipulation Title Match to announce. It will be a massive test for Low-Ki as he faces an opponent who can hit just as hard as he can. It will be Low-Ki defending vs Gran Akuma. These two tore the house down in another promotion a year ago, and now have a chance to do the same once again. Can Akuma win the belt?

And finally, a grudge tag match has been signed. It will be a chance for Eddie Kingston to prepare for a shot at Chris Hero, as he will team with Jigsaw to take on his KOW team-mates Claudio Castagnoli and Josh Abercrombie. With Kingston having a bone to pick with all three of the Kings of Wrestling, this is sure to be a heated bout.

The remaining matches will be announced at the end of this week's show.

Two more teams announced for Tag Team Title Match
Of course, to join the newly moved Hero/Kingston bout, we have a match to determine the first ever Pro Wrestling Midwest Tag Team Champions. And we also have two new teams for this particular match. They will be the team of Incoherence, Delirious and Hallowicked, and a team with two who need to put aside their differences for this match, Jigsaw and Gran Akuma. The final team will be revealed next week to join these two teams and Canadian Violence (Kevin Steen and El Generico).

First Major Match Signed for Major Event
While we know there will be an Open Stipulation Title Defense on this show, we also have a proper first match to announce. It will be a four way grudge match as Sterling James Keenan's 'monster' takes on Ricochet, Matt Sydal and Chuck Taylor. With all four of these men having issues with one another, this one should be off the charts.

Now let's head right for the action on this week's show-

We start with Shiima Xion backstage-

"I'm going to be a bit more serious here tonight. Why did I cost Takeshi Morishima the Open Stipulation belt? Because he refused my help. After he defeated me in such convincing fashion, I realised it would be foolish to oppose someone with so much potential. So then, after he disrespected me by refusing my handshake the next week, I decide to approach him a little more formally. I offered him my managerial services in exchange for him becoming my bodyguard. I even guaranteed him an Open Stipulation Title shot.
But he turned me down. He said it wouldn't be the honorable thing to do. Who cares about honor: this is wrestling not a golf club. So that's why I had to do what I had to do. I had to wake up the beast inside Takeshi Morishima, to see if he can understand what i want to do for him.
I know that he is mad now, he wants to rip my head clean off my shoulders. And I will happily step into the ring with him to prove my point. He'll get it eventually, and when he does, I will have my bodyguard. "

Match 1
Shiima Xion vs Kid Krazy
Kid Krazy receives a rematch here against Shiima Xion after his impressive showing two weeks ago. However, this one never got started as before they could lock up, TAKESHI MORISHIMA walks out. LARIAT for Shiima Xion. He's got Kid Krazy: BACKDROP DRIVER! The match is ruled a no contest - n/a

Shiima Xion escapes the ring and crawls his way back to the locker room, with officials holding back Takeshi Morishima. I'm sure he will get his chance to eliminate Shiima Xion as soon as possible.

Now Low-Ki is out here. He appears to want to have his Open Stipulation title match right now. We need a challenger though: who will it be? It's......Hallowicked. The newest member of the Pro Wrestling Midwest roster has accepted the challenge of Low-Ki.

Match 2
Open Stipulation Title Match- Low-Ki (c) vs Hallowicked
Pretty much an extended squash, as Hallowicked did not get a lot of offense in on the newly crowned Open Stipulation champion. Ki unlo9aded with kicks, chops and high impact moves, ploughing through the Chikara graduate before pinning him with the Ghetto Stomp- **

Match 3
Loser Leaves Pro Wrestling Midwest- 'Sweet and Sour' Larry Sweeney vs 'The Good Guy' Azrieal
These two went right for each other's throats from the second they got out there, brawling all around the aisle, the ringside area and even into the crowd, desperate to keep their job and at the same time get revenge. The crowd seemed confused, as they did not know who to get behind, so this hurt the match somewhat
However, something strange happened. Larry Sweeney and Azrieal are both slugging away punching each other in the centre of the ring, but suddenly they stop, and GIVE A THUMBS UP. They both climb out of the ring, and both get counted out. THIS IS A DAMN SETUP! Because they both got DQ'ed, neither man gets fired- **

Larry Sweeney and Azrieal both climb into the ring, then hug and celebrate, the fans booing loudly. Larry Sweeney get a microphone-

"Haha, let me explain what just happened for all of the bums in the audience who haven't figured it out yet. This was all a setup from the very beginning. I never had anything against my good friend Azrieal: we faked the whole thing. Why? because we wanted to get Ian Rotten's attention, to get us some title matches. Now your stuck with both of us: we're a team now, ready to take home the gold baby. Those tag belts will look pretty good around our waists. Say hello to the Sweet and Sour Coalition."

Sweeney and Azrieal celebrate, with the fans still booing them. Like them or not, that was a pretty smart trick they pulled off, and it looks like Ian Rotten has no real choice but to book them as a tag team. It looks like we have our fourth team for the tag team title scramble.

We head to Sterling James Keenan and his 'monster' in a candlelit area-

"Last week, we set out with a goal in mind: eliminate two pesky bugs in Chuck Taylor and Ricochet. While they were not taken out of this sport like I had planned, their little tag team disintegrated in front of our very eyes, all because we were simply better than them each and every time we faced off.

However, it appears that the commissioner, Ian Rotten, wants to drag every last drop out of this feud. Now he puts us in a four way, and involving another pesky little bug named Matt Sydal.
Matt, we were happy to accept your money and do what you wanted us to, but in recent weeks you have disrespected our little alliance with your constant claims that you did not need us. Don't think we haven't been listening. And Matt, it seems that you are now next on our list of victims.

Who else is on our hit list. Well, there is another annoying little bug named Mike Quackenbush who tried to interrupt our destruction of his weedy little student Shane Storm. You will soon get what's coming to you Mike, and that goes for your pathetic little students as well.

We will do everything that we say we will do. We will eliminate all before us. You will all stay down. And then nothing will be in our way on the way to the Open Stipulation Title belt."

Match 5
The Black and The Brave vs Up In Smoke (Cheech and Cloudy)
A tryout for another young, exciting tag team in Cheech and Cloudy, and they were decent with the limited offense they were given here against The Black and The Brave. I wouldn't mind seeing them get another shot in the near future. So a dominant match for the Black and the Brave, as they got all their signature moves in, before Tyler pinned Cloudy with a Small Package Driver- **1/4

Match 6
Main Event, Tag Team Showcase- The Anarchistic Punishers (Arik Cannon and B-Boy) vs Canadian Violence (Kevin Steen and El Generico)
A good main event tag, although nothing special. Steen and Generico were entertaining as always, with Steen bullying his partner for not being more aggressive, so the crowd were cheering Generico and booing Steen. The Anarchistic Punishers hat hard and showed no remorse for their opponents, and took every opportunity to push the referee's leniency.
The finish saw Tyler Black and Marek Brave run out, distracting their opponents for next week. Marek brave jumped on the apron, distracting the ref, as Tyler Black ran in and hat Cannon with the Small Package Driver. With Cannon out of the picture, Steen sneaked up on B-Boy, hat him with the Package Piledriver, before passing him to Generico for the Brainbuster for three- ***

After the match, The Black and The Brave tried to shake hands with Canadian Violence. Generico was happy to accept, but Steen flipped them off and left on his own. Cannon and B-Boy also left, claiming that next week they would get revenge one way or the other.

So that's the show for this week. And there are some unanswered question here. What will happen when The Black and The Brave and The Anarchistic Punishers collide next week? Will Low-Ki get through Gran Akuma in his second title defense? Who will become the number one contender to the Open Stipulation belt? What will the new Sweet and Sour Coalition do? Will they win the Tag Team belts? All these questions and more will be answered in future weeks on pro Wrestling Midwest TV

And now we move on to the next card of action. Here is what to expect next week-

Next Pro Wrestling Midwest TV Lineup

Main Event- Final Four Rematch- The Black and The Brave (Tyler Black and Marek Brave) vs The Anarchistic Punishers (Arik Cannon and B-Boy)

Open Stipulation Title Match- Low-Ki vs Gran Akuma

Number One Contenders Four Way- Chuck Taylor vs Kevin Steen vs Mike Quackenbush vs Delirious

Tag Team Grudge Match- The Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli and Josh Abercrombie) vs Eddie Kingston and Jigsaw

Chris Hero vs Hallowicked
Chris Hero has already stated that he feels this match is nothing more than a quick warm-up for his match against Eddie Kingston. Hallowicked will beg to differ, and he is in need of a win after his Open Stipulation Title defeat at the hands of Low-Ki. Can Chris Hero gain momentum going into the big match against Eddie Kingston or will Hallowicked gain a major upset win.

Matt Sydal vs Ricochet b>
This is Matt Sydal's first match back since his suspension for the payoff to Sterling James Keenan. Now he has demanded matches with Ricochet, Chuck Taylor and Sterling James Keenan's monster' to prove he can beat them without a payoff. He will get his shot at Ricochet here, but can he score the victory, or will Ricochet manage to pull off a major upset?

I am going to be taking next week off since it's Christmas, but I will be looking to submit a few reviews during that time to take my review count up while I'm on holiday. Otherwise, see you all in two weeks for a huge week of Pro Wrestling Midwest TV.
