The SatThinks Friday FreeThinks 12.28.07
Posted by Sat on 12.28.2007

Welcome to the first ever edition of the SatThinks-Friday-FreeThinks (didn't I write the same thing last week). John Meehan is not here this week, so I am here to fill in for the week. He will be back next week

The proposed Triple H vs. Batista match has been shelved and now Randy Orton vs. Triple H is back on the cards for the Raw main event, although a three-way Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. Batista bout has been discussed as well.

SmackDown's main event is still almost certainly going to be Edge vs. The Undertaker and there is talk of using some special gimmick for it, possibly a Hell in the Cell to play off of the Survivor Series finish. However, since they are planning to use the Elimination Chamber for the No Way Out main event, they might not want to bring back the Cell again so soon afterwards.

One plan that is set in stone is the winner of the Royal Rumble getting an automatic WrestleMania title shot against his own brand's champion, with the other brand's main challengers then competing in the Elimination Chamber for the other spot. Source: Wrestling Observer

I don't know about everybody else, but I am not looking forward to Triple H versus Randy Orton. It will have to have one hell of a buildup to get me interested. Personally, I would have liked to see Triple H and Batista again.

I hope the WWE stays away from a special gimmick because I don't feel that it will be needed. This match can have an excellent buildup without the special gimmick.

I think the Elimination Chamber is a great idea to determine the number one contender for WrestleMania. I think that Small mentioned this yesterday, but why has there been no mention of the ECW title in any of these spoilers?

Batista lost it last night in Albany, NY on a fan. The fan simply gave him a thumbs down and Batista lost it and got in the fans' face and dared the fan to hit him. Security came after the fan. Edge swore at the fan as well. However, when he was leaving the ring, Batista shook hands with the fan. Source: Wrestling Observer

I find it hard to believe that Batista lost it because a fan gave him the thumbs down. I am sure that the fan must have said something and it offended Batista. The thing that is surprising about this story is that Batista shook hands with the fan after the match.

At the Raw show in Nashville last night, they did a Cyber Sunday gimmick saying fans could text their choice of a cage match, no DQ or a street fight for HHH vs. Umaga as the main event. Fans chose a cage match and that's what they did. Source: Wrestling Observer

I don't think that this will have a huge effect on the house shows, but it can't help to try something different. I know that I would not go to a main event just because I could pick the stipulation for the main event.

Lacey Adkisson aka Lacey Von Erich has also been let go by WWE. She had been signed to a developmental deal, and while she had the looks she apparently wasn't prepared for the business. She had not been around a lot in the last month or so. Source: 411 News Page

The thing that surprises me about this story is that she was not prepared for the business. She is the daughter of a former wrestler and she wasn't prepared. That is shocking. Anyways, it does not seem to be that big of a loss for the WWE.

Johnny Jeter, formerly of the Spirit Squad, has been removed from the OVW roster but remains with the company as part of the main roster. He hasn't been used much lately though. Source: 411 News Page

I have been surprised that we have not see Johnny Jeter yet. He was the second best wrestler on the Spirit Squad and I thought that he should have been on the main roster by now. Hopefully, he makes it the roster in due time and hopefully he does not get released.

If you get the Raw 15th DVD at Wal-Mart, there is a bonus disc that contains the very first episode of Raw from January 11, 1993. Source: Wrestling Observer

I got mine at FYE and they were not giving out the first episode of RAW. I looked at the card on the first edition of RAW and it is not that spectacular, so I guess I did not miss out on that much. Bur, if you do want the first episode of RAW, make sure to get it at Wal-Mart.

Bobby Heenan recently had a second reconstructive surgery performed on his jaw after the first procedure was not successful. Heenan remains in a medically induced coma and is expected to be brought out slowly this week. He will likely remain hospitalized for the next two to three weeks. Source: 411 News Page

Bobby Heenan was one of the greatest announcers of all time and I hope that he gets better soon. I am sure that everybody here at 411 and all of you readers feel the same way.

Apolo, a former TNA wrestler and currently wrestling in Puerto Rico has signed with the WWE. Source: PWInsider

I have seen only a few of Apolo's matches and I was not impressed. Hopefully, he has improved since the last time that I saw him.

TNA Impact did a 1.1 rating last week. Source: 411 News Page

TNA continues to stay at the same place in the ratings and that is a good thing because they are consistent. I would not be surprised if TNA passes ECW in the following months.

I think they ought to play up the Flair angle in the RAW main event. A fatal 4-way between HHH v. Orton(c) v. Flair v. Batista. I don't know sounds like a good way to sort out the title & let Flair go out in a blaze of glory with his closest friends.

How could they do a Hell in the Cell at an outdoor Wrestlemania? Sounds like too much time to put it during a live PPV.

You can also rent the first episode of raw online as part of the raw 15th anniversary series in case someone doesn't want to buy the set or would just like to see that one show for old times sake.

I think the WWE is missing out on an obvious and fantastic Wrestlemania Main Event. HHH vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Ric Flair.

Peter... and everybody lives happily ever after just like in a fairytale.

If anyone else watched the first episode of RAW on the bonus disc, could they please verify that I was Not hallucinating when Randy Savage announced "Tito Landrum of the Baltimore Orioles is in the crowd tonight" If so then he's the answer to the trivia question of Who was the very first celebrity to be (at (he wasn't actually shown on-camera)) a Monday Night RAW episode.
