The Fink's Payload 01.30.08: Money in the Bank
Posted by Daniel Wilcox on 01.30.2008
The Payloaders hop on the Road To WrestleMania 24. This week, we look at the inevitable Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Who do the readers want to join the likes of Kennedy, Van Dam and Edge as Mr. Money in the Bank? Find out inside!
Welcome back to The Fink's Payload, the only column in the history of the IWC that relies solely on the creative merits of its readers! I'm flying solo again this week because I was really running behind and didn't want to put Jordan under any pressure to get this out. I only started writing this sumbitch about an hour before it was due to go up. Hard times, I know. Now let's get on with this mo'fo.
First up with their Money in the Bank booking is Apostotles Henry, no relation I assume, to Mark Henry;
The 6 competitors are, representing Raw - Chris Jericho & JBL, representing Smackdown - MVP & Matt Hardy, and representing ECW - Shelton Benjamin & CM Punk!
I am including CM Punk in this because I am hoping for an RVD return to ECW before Mania as he feels the current stars are not "extreme" enough and challenges Chavo Guerrero for title, claiming he will bring ECW back to it's roots!
The match starts and immediately everyone goes after their immediate rivals, Jericho & JBL brawl to the outside, up the ramp and eventually backstage whilst the others stay in the ring where eventually the faces(Hardy & Punk) get on top of the heels and toss them to the outside - they then stare at each other and then at the briefcase before starting to trade punches as the Heels recover on the outside. Hardy starts getting the better of Punk when MVP returns with a big kick that sends Hardy to the floor. In this time Benjamin sets up a huge ladder on the outside and climbs to the top, where he delivers a dropkick/crossbody to Punk, inside the ring. This incapacitates both men and MVP uses this time to quickly bring a ladder into the ring and tries to climb and get the briefcase. He is stopped by Hardy.
Meanwhile, we cut backstage where we see Jericho get bloodied after being repeatedly smashed into a wall before he makes a comeback and puts JBL in the Walls of Jericho, causing him to pass out. Jericho then makes his way back to ringside.
We have the usual knocking over of the ladder whilst someone is near to grabbing the briefcase. There is always one big spot in these matches and I think this one will involve Benjamin and Jericho with Benjamin taking the hit, taking him out of the match.
The action continues until it looks like Jericho is about to get the win where JBL finally re-joins the action, bringing with him a bull-rope, which he manages to get around Jericho's neck and pulls him off the ladder (maybe all the way to the outside). He is only intent on Jericho and is caught unaware by the GTS from Punk. This leaves Punk, MVP and Hardy (who is slumped in a corner, bleeding). Punk and MVP then climb the ladder and trade punches until MVP falls onto the ropes leaving Punk poised to win. At this point, Hardy rushes up the ladder and hits Twist of Fate on Punk, then climbs up ladder to claim the briefcase and victory.
Matt Hardy is your new Mr Money in the Bank.
I also go for Edge to end the streak and defeat Undertaker to retain the title. This will result in Matt Hardy winning the title from Edge at Backlash before entering into a fued with Undertaker (who snaps and turns heel after Mania) which will last until Summerslam where they have a Hell In A Cell Match and Undertaker regains the gold.
Apostoles Henry
The first thing to mention is that you have created a very enjoyable MITB match involving a good mix of participants, many of which have not been in the match before, and you have some pretty cool spots planned out, so good stuff there. However, I hate the idea of having Matt winning and moving on without seeing a true ending to the MVP/Hardy rivalry.
Next up (and this is a rarity) is a female Payloader, Tori, possibly the lady you knew as Kane's first girlfriend but I cannot confirm that;
Hi guys,
I have two major complaints with last year's MITB match. I hated the eight-person format. With that many people it is way too crowded. Not enough room on the screen or in the ring to contain that many competitors and six men just wind up laying around a lot while the action centers on the other two. And I don't think we need qualifying matches. The first installment didn't have qualifying matches.
I think that the match is best when it is announced by Chris Jericho. So he should just have Vince McMahon as a guest on "The Highlight Reel" a few weeks before Wrestlemania to talk about the card. We already know about most of the upper card matches for the show: Randy Orton versus Triple H for the WWE Title, Edge versus Undertaker for the World Title, MVP versus Matt Hardy for the US Title, Ric Flair versus Batista (maybe?). Vince proudly announces that he has a list of six names with him and they are the six competitors in the fourth Money In The Bank Ladder Match. All six of these men have competed in (and lost) the MITB on previous occasions and this is officially their last chance to compete for the prize. Jeff Hardy, Fit Finlay, CM Punk, Kane, Shelton Benjamin… and Chris Jericho.
This is a good combination of talent. I can see Kane really getting a push before the match and thrown in as a "wild card" who might take out anyone. Finlay, maybe he gets some help from McMahon since they have a deal. CM Punk gets the sympathy vote because he is so little. Shelton is always good for a hot spot in this match. The winner should be Jeff Hardy. He is the ultimate ladder-match superstar and could use the push to take him over the top. I like Jericho but I think he is better at this point if he puts people over instead of taking the big wins for himself. He can get a title shot some other way.
Jeff Hardy should cash it in right away. How about the next night on RAW? Oooh, that would be sweet. He is such a high-energy, do-or-die type of character that it would make sense for him to want to follow up on that adrenaline rush and win the title so soon. Imagine the surprise when Randy Orton retains the title at WM (…what?!) and then shows up at the arena for RAW the next night and is told that he has to defend the belt in a ladder match because Jeff Hardy cashed it in. Think it would spike the ratings to have a title switch the night after the biggest pay-per-view of the year?
Tori
This is a great scenario. You have potential with magic with Hardy, Shelton and Jericho in one match and some good wild cards in there who could produce a thing or two. I think Jeff is a great choice to win this one because he is so hot right now (ha, that sounded so queer (not that there's anything wrong with that)) and with Cena's return he is going to be shuffled back down the card. This would be great for Jeff to keep that momentum going and remain in the main events where he probably belongs. Good stuff here.
Next up is regular Payloader Stephen;
First thing to do is eliminate MVP and Matt Hardy since both should be facing each other for the US title at WrestleMania. With that in mind, here's how I'd set up the contestants:
WWE Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy
While I'd love for Jeff to be main eventing WrestleMania with his WWE Championship on the line (honestly, better than Orton), the sad fact is that his rise to the main event will be brief and chances are he will be in this match yet again. He loves ladder matches though so who knows.
Rey Mysterio and CM Punk
The story going into this is that, after the Rumble, Vickie has taken steps to ensure that Rey and Punk don't get any title matches against Edge or Chavo, so she puts them in this match where the other four can beat them down for her. While Rey is a vet, I can't recall off the top of my head any ladder matches he's been in and Punk was thrown into last year's MitB and was pretty much a placeholder so the two are both at a disadvantage as far as experience goes. This also lets Jeff work with Rey, which is something he's wanted to do according to a recent interview.
ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero
Again, it's unfortunate that the WWE hates the ECW title as much as the IC title because I'd prefer both being defended over some combination of Kane, Khali, Henry and V that we're probably going to get. However, reality is reality and Vickie puts Chavo in as an insurance policy to make sure no one can harm her precious Edge. (myy preeecioussssss...)
Santino Marella
Granted this spot after incessantly annoying GM William Regal into giving him "the-a title shot-a that-a I-a so deserve."
Shelton Benajmin
Earned this shot by defeating Tommy Dreamer in the only actual MitB qualifying match. Has experience and hopefully he won't botch (m)any big spots.
So here's how it goes: Santino is this year what Punk was last year: a placeholder. He gets creamed early and often. Hardy and Benjamin go through the standard ladder match spots while Chavo fights Rey and Punk. End comes when Jeff leg drops Shelton through a ladder and Chavo diving shoulder block's Rey off a ladder, allowing CM Punk to grab the briefcase.
On a side note, I personally dislike having the MitB match at WrestleMania because it by definition has to build to a future feud while Mania should be the be-all and end-all for every feud that can't transition into new ones in time for Backlash. I'd rather have MitB at Backlash because then we can have new feuds being continued and developed on a PPV where they should be.
You get credit for having CM Punk go over, because the guy would be a huge star if WWE just let it happen and didn't job him out to anyone not named Elijah. I'm not sure about the line-up because I don't know what Santino could really bring to the table in this environment and I'd also like to see the ECW Championship defended on the show. Also, this match makes Jeff Hardy seem like a mid-carder at best which is a bit of a disappointment considering the work he has done in the last 18 months.
We move on. Next up is Drew Clark;
Hello,
My ideas for "Money in the Bank" number four. Enjoy them if you want.
RAW, FEB. 18
On the night after No Way Out, Chris Jericho comes to the ring and announces that he has just spoken with Mr. McMahon and they have come to an agreement about the fourth-annual "Money in the Bank" ladder match. This year, the match will revert to a six-man format and Jericho is proud to announce that, as the creator of the match, he has been officially confirmed as one of the competitors. "After all that has happened, there is still the light at the end of the tunnel," Jericho pronounces. "At Wrestlemania, in the match that I invented, I can get back what JBL stole from me three months ago -- an opportunity to be the CHAMPION... A-GAIN!"
Over the course of the next few weeks, Y2J appears on the other shows to hype the match and witness the qualifying matches that are taking place. When the commentators harass him for not having to win a qualifying match himself, Jericho always retorts with some of the trademark verbal abuse that made him famous. He isn't trying to be a face or a heel anymore, he's just trying to be the champion.
ECW, FEB. 26
John Morrison defeats Tommy Dreamer in an extreme rules match to earn a spot.
SD, MAR. 7
Rey Mysterio and CM Punk defeat Mark Henry and Big Daddy V in a tag team ladder match. The stipulation was made prior to the match that both members of the winning team would earn spots.
MON, MAR. 17
Mr. Kennedy defeats Kane in a cage match to earn a spot for the second year in a row. After the match, Jeff Hardy (who has not been seen on television since No Way Out due to injuries sustained in the Elimination Chamber match) cuts a promo to announce that he will be part of a Battle Royal next week to determine the final entrant.
MON, MAR. 24
During an "interpromotional match" pitting Rey Mysterio and CM Punk against Mr. Kennedy and John Morrison, the announcers really hype Hardy's return. After getting screwed out of the title at the Royal Rumble and brutally injured at No Way Out, Hardy has a chance to reclaim his lost momentum. With the whole world watching less than a week before Wrestlemania, Jeff Hardy wins a battle royal that also features The Miz, Shelton Benjamin, Carlito, Chuck Palumbo, and Umaga. After the match, Jericho comes to the ring... but does he want to congratulate Jeff, or does he want to attack his wrestlemania opponent? Y2J teases a turn but eventually gives Hardy a big hug.
WRESTLEMANIA
"Money in the Bank" IV: Chris Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk
Well, this is the best assortment of talent that I could think of within a reasonable storyline. Two pure heels, three huge babyfaces, and a crafty veteran playing a tweener to keep things interesting. Four former world champions (including the very first undisputed world champion). The finish involves Jeff Hardy making an amazing comeback from delivering a swanton bomb to Kennedy from a ladder inside the ring to the spanish commentator's table outside the ring. He eventually finds himself swinging precariously from the briefcase with no ladder beneath him when Chris Jericho slides into the ring. Y2J climbs the turnbuckle and delivers a missle dropkick to Hardy's stomach which forces the Rainbow Warrior to release his grasp on the briefcause. Jericho positions the ladder on top of Hardy and climbs upward to earn a guaranteed title shot at the time of his choosing.
WINNER: CHRIS JERICHO
RAW, MAR. 31
Chris Jericho hosts a brand-new edition of the Highlight Reel and celebrates his victory. As he is taking a poll from the audience regarding when he should cash in the title shot, his guest arrives: Jeff Hardy. Y2J continues to brag about his accomplishment and his upcoming championship reign but Hardy interrupts to state his case. "It's not that I can't believe that you won the match and I didn't, Jericho," Hardy says. "It's just that I can't believe HOW you won. You didn't beat me. You kicked me and then you used the ladder to keep me down. That's not an accomplishment. You played dirty and you got lucky."
And so the challenge is laid down. The rivalry that began at Wrestlemania takes tweener-Jericho and face-Hardy into a feud over the title shot at Backlash and Judgment Day. Eventually, one of them becomes the "definite" holder of the MITB briefcase. I think it should be Jericho because he deserves another reign as WWE Champion and the feud itself will give a lot of credibility to a future WWE Title run for Jeff Hardy. There ya go.
There are parts of this I really like and some parts I'm not keen on. First of all, leading up to the match you make Jericho and Hardy look like massive stars which is a good thing, and the qualifying matches having stipulations is a nice touch because it makes the match that much more important so well done there. The 6 participants are all good guys who I'd like to see in the match. I also like slowly turning Jericho heel but after the match, you make Hardy out to be a bit of a whiny bitch. The idea is there and it's really good, I'd probably only change the execution of some small things. Good stuff though.
Next up is Louis;
Hey
First, the Participants...
1) Shelton Benjamin - Seems to be getting a semi-push right in time for his signature match.
2) K-Kwik Killings- After debuting at the Rumble, and ending up on SD, Killings is the first to qualify, and spends the weeks leading up to Mania doing a series of Mr Perfectesk promos demonstrating why he will win.
3) Mr Kennedy - Promising to win again.
4) Finley - There as always to be a general of the match.
5) CM Punk - After losing in the Elimination Chamber, will team with Rey-Rey for awhile against the Rated Rmy, before qualifying for this match.
6) Jeff Hardy - After failing to win the Title at the Rumble, as well as the rematch on Raw two weeks later, Hardy ends up in a feud with Santino and Carlito, and eventually loses the IC Title to Santino leading up to Wrestlemania.
7) Kane - Member of the first MitB, and has nothing better to do.
8) Carlito - Needs something to do while his tag partner (Santino) defends the IC title against Umaga, who turned face at the Rumble after defending Hornswaggle from The Great Khali after Finley got eliminated.
Right off, Finley is there to make the match better, and is not in competition. Same with Kane. Shelton is there to make a few cools moves, but that is it. Killings is there to get some exposure (ala Punk last year), but won't win. That leaves only Hardy, Kennedy, Carlito and Punk as the only real potential winners. We will see the usual
spots (Carlito will take the Christian bump from the top of the ladder to the floor), as well as a few new ones (Killings will do some funky-ass huricaranna from the ladder onto Shelton). Rivalries will continue (Hardy-Carlito) or be renewed (Punk-Benjamin). Oh, and Kane will chokeslam three wrestlers in succession.
Onto the furious finish. Kennedy will be about to win when Hornswaggle will interfere (like last year) only this time when Kennedy gets him up for the Green Bay
Plunge, Horny will reverse, knock Kennedy down, and do the tallest Tadpole Splash in history. After that, Punk will have a chance to climb the ladder, however Ryder and Hawkins will run in and take him out, continuing the Punk/Edge feud.
Finally, Carlito and Hardy will be doing a see-saw ladder battle near the announce tables, which will end up with Carlito eating a Twist of Fate on said Announce Table. Hardy will climb the tallest ladder, and look down at the prone body of Carlito, and motion that be will Swanton. However, Jeff, being a changed performer, will not go for the show stopping moment, but rather the glory, and will turn around and grab the briefcase, winning the match.
Cheers
Louis
A super-sized tadpole splash? Check. The continuation of a Punk/Edge feud that could later lead to Punk getting the push he deserves? Check. Jeff Hardy going over? Check. We have a winner here ladies and gentleman. I would make a few changes, like taking Carlito out and maybe adding someone like Chris Harris. And I would also have Hardy nail that Swanton Bomb after he grabs the briefcase, just for shits and giggles.
Next up is Mazzacane the Mazzacre;
Money in the Bank Predictions go as follows
Participants
Shelton Benjamin
Elijah Burke
Mr. Kennedy
MVP
Jeff Hardy
Umaga
They come out to the ring and start brawling with each other Umaga destroys Burke and Shelton they roll out for the ring for a little bit then hardy sneaks off and grabs a ladder proceeding to clean house with it and he is left alone in the ring he sets it up and stats to climb he is stopped by the other 5 men and is collectively beat on by the others after hardy is taken care of Kennedy and MVP work a little bit to work on Umaga and toss him out leaving him Kennedy burke and Shelton in the ring the all stare at each other and Shelton attacks burke hits him with a T-bone Shelton then leaves the ring to get ladder along with hardy they brawl over control and Shelton wins and takes the ladder and as he is about to go in MVP and Kennedy baseball slide in to him knocking him down Kennedy the starts attacking MVP Burke slips in with a ladder and sets t and starts to climb in comes Umaga and throws him off then Samoan spikes him to the ground and starts to slowly climb the ladder and is tossed off by hardy who proceeds to quickly scale it and then leap frog like jump off it in to Kennedy and MVP Burke gets a chair and knocks Shelton around with it and then gets a stiff kick from Umaga on the outside Umaga takes the chair and hits Kennedy with it and then MVP Hardy jumps in from the turnbuckle dropkicking Umaga down to the ground Shelton and Burke get in and beat down hardy and set up a pair of ladders only Shelton kicks Burke down the other combatants enter and set up ladders they brawl with each other n the top leaving only hardy Shelton and Kennedy left in the ring Kennedy gives a couple of punches to hardy and green bay plunge him to the mat leaving Shelton to climb a little farther but burke hops on the other side and they brawl burke is knocked off Shelton gets the case and is FINALLY recognized and also gets a mouthpiece so he has a shot of getting over on the mic I'm thinking maybe burke acting as manager for him with a double cross and a feud later on or someone from OVW or there Florida one .
Wow. First of all, it's called a period (or a full stop, whatever), and you should try it some time. Secondly, if Shelton Benjamin were to win this match, I would mark out like a little bitch. If this were a forum, I would five star you right now.
Next up is… Vince Russo!
Vince McMahon comes out and announces that at WrestleMania 24 their will be MITB Ladder Match. To decide the participants 15 men will be in the ring as their are 4 poles with envelopes on them. 3 envelopes have MITB contracts in them as the other has a contract for another Battle Royal with 5 randomly selected men from that battle royal. But the person who gets that envelope has to be eliminated twice in the second battle royal. The second Battle Royal will have 6 men in the ring and the two men who get thrown out last will face the man who got thrown out first in a triple threat match to decide who will be the 4th participant in the MITB. 4 more spots will be decided in a 4 on 4 davids vs goliathes match. Where the four tallest guys in the original battle royal will face the 4 shortest guys in the second battle royal. This leaves ones spot open for the MITB. Their will be a battle royal held to supposedly decide who gets the final spot but when the winner wins he finds out that he only gets to choose two men besides him to get into the MITB with the winner of that getting into the actual match. This would lead to many wrestlers trying to get in but the nine will be Big Daddy V, Kenny Dykstra, Collin Delaney, Tommy Dreamer, jimmy Wane Yang, Santino Marella Cody Rhodes, mr Kennedy, and the returning Mike Knox who i feel did not get what he deserves in an ECW Title push but this cold fix that as he would win this and save up to challenge the WWE champion on the November 27 Raw. BOOK IT!!!
-Vince Russo
Well you really have topped yourself this time, Vinny. Ha, I wish! I kid, I kid. You should never wish someone would commit suicide no matter how ass backward their booking is.
We're getting near the end of this bad boy. Next up is (two in one frickin' column? Are you kidding me?) another female Payloader! I do love females! It's Stephanie, possibly Triple H's wife;
WrestleMania 24 - The Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Participants: John Morrison v. Shelton Benjamin v. Mr. Kennedy v. CM Punk v. Cody Rhodes v. "Mystery Opponent"
Back Story: It's a battle of old tag team partners and random rivals. Who will get into the match and who will get sent home...brokenhearted? /The Bachelor reference.
In week one, John Morrison qualifies over the Miz with the assistance of Layla, who's chosen the Shaman of Sexy over the 'Chick Magnet.' Come on, who wouldn't? With that hair and that entrance? Let *me* stand next to your fire, JM. A potential post-Mania feud could be in the cards after that match, however...read on.
Shelton Benjamin comes back to RAW for "ONE NIGHT ONLY~!" to face off with Charlie Haas. Mask or no mask, it makes no difference to me as long as somebody makes this run over at least two segments, three if the WWE brass can stand it. Have Haas finally tap to his own submission move, the Haas of Pain, as applied by Benjamin. To make the ROHbots' eyes pop out, have a handshake happen at the end of this.
That same week, Mr. Kennedy goes back to Smackdown to face off Jimmy Wang Yang. Have him jaw-jack the whole way through the match until Yang makes the convincing comeback. Just when he's about to go for the big moonsault, have Kennedy catch Yang and roll him through for the Green Bay Plunge.
CM Punk, bitter, angry, ego bruised, is told by Smackdown GM Guerrero of all people that to qualify, he has to beat the Edgeheads in an Extreme Rules Match (remember those?). If the Edgeheads win, they both gain entry into the match. Punk, summoning the power of the babyface...and the Saints...gets the win after THE ANACONDA VICE MAKES A COMEBACK!
Meanwhile over on RAW, more tag team partner shenanigans are afoot when "Get off my lawn!" Holly must take on his young charge, Cuddly Rhodes. With some encouraging words from Dusty - that in truth make no sense to anybody except his kid - the son of a son of a plumber finally gets the meaningful win over Holly...and then tells him he'll stand on any damn lawn he pleases.
While all five of these men have matches crossing brand lines and stipulations (triple threat, four corner elimination, tag matches), the one thing that seems to elude the public is: where's the sixth man? They're always featured in the graphic, but never shown. Vince claims he has a 'surprise' for everybody.
Here's the surprise (This is an idea borrowed from my cousin <3 Hope he doesn't mind!): Every year for the past few years, Wrestlemania is highlighted by a pre-event tag match or battle royale. Why not make this match mean something with it being the 'last chance to dance' for the Money in the Bank match? Any man who doesn't have a signed contest at the 'grand-daddy of them all' can enter and the last man standing gets to proceed onto the big stage.
To make this work, we have to build it for the home audience that they don't know who the mystery opponent is. If at all possible, have the MITB match closer to the end of the show so that the audience in-house 'forgets' who the sixth man is. When the time's finally right, have all five of the announced participants come out. What I'd also play up is that they'd been sequestered and wouldn't know exactly who their opponent was. Morrison or better still, Kennedy, should get this across on the mike.
Finally, out comes...
Super Crazy.
Yes, the guy that put his body on the line for ECW One Night Stand is back to do it one more time. Everybody in the ring is puzzled, the proverbial "this guy? You gotta be kidding me!" reaction. In the battle royal, he doesn't need to be built up like a monster but just as a believable underdog who beats the odds and gets his chance to stand amongst the "IMMORTALS OF SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT."
But, in any event, the bell rings and we're off!
Crossbrand commentary shenanigans can come into play here if it likes and this is when I'll start *really* missing JBL on the mic putting over the guys on the blue team and to a lesser extend, the extreme team.
- Joey Styles can pick up the cause for Super Crazy, list off all his accomplishments overseas and with ECDub
- Tazz can pull for Punk, go with the story of his ECW title reign that crosses paths with...
- Jerry Lawler's pick: John Morrison. Potential line for the King: "He stole that Shaman of Sexy line from my book!" JR: "It wasn't in your book!" King: "It was in a rough draft!"
- JR gets over the youth and inexperience but also the heart and determination of Cody Rhodes. "He's gotta chance to live the dream that his daddy did - but this time...FOR HIMSELF!"
- Shelton Benjamin's winding road to back to the MITB gets the treatment from Coachman
- ...and Michael Cole just tries to stay relevant. GOOD LUCK THERE. Poor Kennedy, he deserves an advocate.
Quiet stuff starts us off, typical spots but the big eye opener ends up being Kennedy setting up what looks to be a redux of Armageddon 2006's tetter-totter spot. John Morrison sees this and, in a hidden highlight worthy moment shouts: "NOT THIS AGAIN!", slamming Kennedy back first into the structure.
While Kennedy's rolling out, Punk is going chop and kick crazy on Cody Rhodes, who can play the wounded babyface throughout the entire match. JR: "HE JUST...WON'T...STAY DOWN!" Just as he thinks he's done and can go grab a ladder, Punk gets met with Super Crazy's three moonsaults. Crazy celebrates but gets distracted by Layla at ringside. As he's making eyes at her, out comes...MELINA! Standing up for her Latina pride and starting one hell of a catfight, she takes the former Extreme Expose member out of the equation and John Morrison is left staring at Crazy.
"My name is John Morrison. Your diva took away my current diva. Prepare...to see me stand sexily for a few seconds and then kick you!"
Before that happens, in drops Shelton Benjamin to do another one of his C-R-A-Z-Y WM MITB spots. What it looks like, I have no idea. But in my mind, it involves nothing less than: a ladder, John Morrison, Super Crazy, possible dangling from the briefcase and a move that makes Edge's spear on Jeff Hardy at WMX-7 look like chump change.
Yeah. That kind of thing.
The finish comes with Cody Rhodes making his last stand, crawling up with ravaged body and mind to the top of a wobbly ladder to try to snatch the briefcase. Super Crazy is already at the top and was just about to grab it before he says 'to 'ell with dis!' and becomes the new Shelton Benjamin/Jeff Hardy here. He flips off the ladder, catches Cody, who's foot's not even past the bottom rung, and goes all 'AJ Styles' on his ass - aka catches Cody for the reverse DDT. They're both out and miss Shelton Benjamin sneaking up another ladder to snatch the briefcase. After being denied twice before, it's rightfully his.
There should be a few ladders set up for this spot so we can have the shot of Benjamin lying across and holding the case in the air. The guy deserves his big moment and to celebrate in a unique way. Unlike Kennedy, Edge (times two) and RVD, he'll have the patience to cash it in at Mania 25 against his old arch nemesis...TRIPLE HAITCH!
This is the product of too much time at work, I apologize for the length!
Stephanie
Some quality stuff here, and I like the added humour and I have to agree. John Morrison is very sexy. Have you seen that guy in HD? It's crazy. And again, Shelton going over makes this a winner in my book and I like the participants involved, particularly Cody, and I like the set up with various guys fighting former tag partners and such. I don't think anyone would really care about Super Crazy though. I was expecting you to reveal the 6th man to be Rob Van Dam but there you go. With the likes of Benjamin and Morrison together in a ladder match, we have ridiculous potential here.
And we're done for another week!
Thanks to all those who sent in entries, whether they were used or not we appreciate them all. We're getting 20+ entries on a regular basis so you can appreciate that we can't use them all.
This week's homework is to book the outcome of Raw's Elimination Chamber match and WWE Championship match, and thus book their title picture leading into WrestleMania. Do not book the outcome of the Mania match. I want to see how good y'all are at building up a big match.
Send all entries to dcw_411@hotmail.co.uk and I'll see you back here same time next week!
Damn, Dan-O, I thought I submitted a pretty goddamn good entry this week. Where's the acknowledgement? The only reason I give a shit is that so few of my real-life acquaintences watch wrestling, and I need a forum in which to vocalize, or y'know, type, about it with other marginally intelligent folks. Mazzacane and Tori's submissions were pretty smart, but I still think I explained my booking very thoroughly and rationally, SUCKA. I guess I'll just take a crack at next week's topic and see if I strike out...

I've got a convoluted, but imo impressive idea for the Shelton spot in Stephanie's idea. Super Crazy climbs a ladder and starts trying to unhook the briefcase. Morrison snatches the ladder from under him and starts hitting him with said ladder, trying to make him fall. Meanwhile, Shelton is off to the side, climbing his own ladder with a chair in hand. He gets to the top, throws the chair at Morrison, and leaps over to Super Crazy and hits the Gold Rush (or whatever his new finisher is called) in midair.

I'm with this guy. Where's the respect? I know my ending was kinda crap, but i just don't know what your problem is. You can make it up to me by posting my Elimination Chamber match.

I must stress that whether or not your entry makes it into the column is no reflection on the quality of your ideas. I usually don't even read the entry before I put it in the column. It's aways a random selection and I'm sorry your ideas didn't make it this time, but I'm sure if you keep sending them they will make it within a couple of weeks.

this is the plan
WM Main Event: Randy Orton vs John Cena vs HHH
Orton = uber-heel
Cena = Tweener turns semi heel
HHH = face
JOHN CENA WINS...
then... MONEY IN THE BANK winner JEFF HARDY cashes in right away, and we have a NEW WWE Champion, that very night, in Wrestlemania.
PS: It could work with either Jeff or Jericho... but Jeff's the one on a roll here

If these entries are "randomly selected" than what's the point in putting any thought and effort into it? I'm not knocking you on a personal level, mind you; I simply thought the point of doing this was to have the most interesting and/or fundamentally sound booking ideas, y'know?

If Kennedy win this one, he's going to use it against a winning and still Eavy Weight World Champion Edge !
Vengeance, one year after. WWE will refresh memories during the wrestlemania promos, weeks before it.

I say ...
ECW: CM Punk and Shelton Benjamin
RAW: Brian Kendrick and Paul London
Smackdown: Matt Hardy and Jamie Noble.
The winner? I'd go for Punk or Hardy, personally. It'd finally give Matt that last bump he needs or give Punk a major step up in the ranks. Kinda like when RVD won it out of nowhere and everybody just went crazy.

London and Kendrick have no chance in being in that, probally Noble too. Matt would be iffy because I'm pretty sure it will be him vs. MVP at Mania, Punk and Benjamin would be good, but London, Kendrick and Noble are way too low on the card for something like this

Stephanie just captured my heart.
Minus the whole Super Crazy stuff...how could you NOT have Jeff Hardy in there?!

One good reason not to put Hardy in it is because it would undermine the big push they are/should be giving him. On the other hand, putting him in his first ever 1-on-1 'mania match would send a clear message that they're ready to invest a lot in Hardy. I'd put him in a face vs. face situation with Shawn Michaels, based on neither of them winning a 3-way qualifying match for MitB, Hardy getting frustrated and blaming Michaels, and HBK responding by challenging Hardy to step up for a match with "Mr. WrestleMania" himself.

Proto - that's perfect. Something just that sort of insane. And I pray for no concussions.
As for no Jeff Hardy - I honestly thought he would win Sunday and this was written before the Rumblus. So sue me?

"Rumblus"... classic.
