Why I Love Wrestling 2.17.08: Internet Clips (Vol. 3: Jeff Hardy)
Once again, I feel that I have let you down. I planned to review the TNA PPV but where I was going to watch it did not have it. So, until I am one-hundred percent sure that I am going to be able to watch the PPV, I wont be giving the previews. I am up to my usual internet shenanigans. This time I take a look at one of my favorite wrestlers and one of the hottest superstars on Raw, Jeff Hardy! These matches are all from his return to WWE, by the way.
Why I Love Wrestling
Shawn Michaels vs. Jeff Hardy (Monday Night Raw – 2/11/2008)
Yes, I know this was just last week but it was such a great match and an awesome way to promote the go home show for No Way Out. This match was crisp, fluent, entertaining, and just well wrestled in general. This match also accomplished a few things. The first and major thing is that it helped promote the Elimination Chamber. They took two of the frontrunners in the match and put them head to head. The next thing is that it built up Jeff Hardy as a possible major threat in the Elimination Chamber. Jeff Hardy looked really strong here, putting on a great effort and delivering a good matchup, proving he isn’t just all ladders and cages.
Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy (Armageddon – 12/16/2007)
Here we have another great match showing that Jeff Hardy can wrestle an actual wrestling match. Jeff Hardy, as always, played the underdog here, and very well, I might add. There was always a slight knowledge that Jeff had a chance of winning, but whenever he gained some steam he was shut down. This match was a great match with both competitors working hard and pulling off all the stops.
Umaga vs. Jeff Hardy (Monday Night Raw – 2/7/2008)
Ok, so I have to throw a cage match in here. This is from the Raw Roulette a couple weeks back. To my knowledge, this was Umaga’s first cage match. This match was totally off the hook. It seems like Jeff just has good matches all the time. Ken Kennedy, Shawn Michaels, Umaga, Triple H, Randy Orton, John Morrison, and the list goes on. The match showcased Jeff’s willingness to do what it takes to win and also Umaga’s willingness to take a beating. I also liked the addition of Randy Orton at ringside because it added to the match.
Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison (Monday Night Raw – 11/20/2006)
This is just one of the couple of ladder matches Jeff has had since his return. This one was during the peak of the awesome feud for the Intercontinental Championship between Jeff and John Morrison (then Johnny Nitro). They actually had several good matches, another involving (surprisingly) a cage. This match epitomizes the ladder matches that Jeff Hardy revolutionized and innovated. It is full of daring attacks and breath-taking maneuvers. The match was especially good and actually utilized a little bit of psychology.
Sorry to have another short column but I was scrambling to get something for you guys because I was actually planning on watching the TNA PPV. Anyway, hope you enjoyed my showcase of the Rainbow Haired Warrior, Jeff Hardy. Until next time, stay classy, 411Mania readers.
