I have got an MMA Hangover. I also have a WrestleMania Hangover. Hell, I have a real Hangover on top of all of that and a bruised throat! But Your News, My Views is back to discuss all of the crazy news from the WrestleMania weekend (I’M ROBBIE), today in wrestling history, the latest podcast, TNA making money and more!
Welcome to the Tuesday news adventure, the one stop shop for all of the wrestling news, scuttlebutt, tidbits and rumors that you crave…Your News, My Views! I am your host Larry Csonka and it is time again to do what I do best, so sit back and relax.
I will of course have full discussion in the 4R's on Friday, but I have to say that the Ric Flair sendoff was simply amazing. HHH coming out, all of the legends, Race, Hammer, the Horsemen, the locker room; it was an awesome sendoff and I am happy that that he was given such respect. Thank you Ric.
How about that WrestleMania kids? The only event where John Cena could be pinned clean and people still act like they have sand in their vaginas. Strange.
Make sure you venture over into the MMA Zone as I am now taking charge over there. I am again reviewing events and have also brought back My Take On MMA! The regular team is still there plus we have added some fresh names to the roster. Go and check out the MMA Zone kids, you won't regret it!
Check out some of the new names that have and will be popping up here in the old 411. We have once again expanded the staff; all so that we could bring you guys more free content!
I had a hell of a time on Friday, involving golf, free beer, dinner at an Irish Pub, 6-hours of playing pool and Hotty McWaitress bringing me over $50 in free drinks and her phone number. All had a good time, but most importantly, Larry had a good time.
You know it's amazing, it seems I can do nothing right in some peoples eyes. Which actually brings me great joy because it makes for a lot of fun.
T-Minus 10-seconds until someone comments that I am taking up too much time talking.
WrestleMania Buy Rate prediction. 800,000 Domestic and 1.2-Million combined with international buys, likely just below the record.

WWE/ECW news, notes and happenings to the EXTREME:
Early last week WWE told its wrestlers at a meeting to not socialize or be seen with TNA wrestlers over the course of WrestleMania week. The reason for this was that WWE feels that TNA is piggybacking off their week by holding special events like tonight's live Impact. Both WWE's Fan Axxess Tour and TNA's Impact take place at Universal Studios in Orlando. Now I completely understand WWE's stance on this. They want the focus to be on WWE and WWE Wrestlers. Having say HBK hanging out with Kevin Nash would look bad because then people would wonder where Nash is. The TNA name gets out, and then it is essentially free advertising for TNA. WWE is not there to give anyone else attention, they are there to promote WWE, WrestleMania and their wrestlers. While it may seem childish to some, and to a point I agree, it is the way things are. Although I don't know how WWE can stop Chavo from visiting his uncle, or Cody from visiting his brother. Chavo found out the hard way not to break the rules when he jobbed to Kane in mere seconds.
The word that was going around backstage at the Impact tapings was that all TNA wrestlers and staff have been barred by WWE from visiting the hotel WWE has put their wrestlers and staff at this weekend in Orlando. WWE has out a "LOCKDOWN" into effect so to speak, and were doing their best to keep any and all TNA personnel from their hotel. Personally I feel that they went a bit overboard with the "LOCKDOWN" of the hotel, but again I understand. The thing is that it did no good, because WWE wrestler Robbie McAllister (of the Highlanders) was shown in the crowd during the live TNA Impact broadcast. McAllister actually made the decision to get in line with thousands of other fans inside Universal Studios and waited to get in to Impact. McAllister was there to see his friend Johnny Devine's match. TNA made sure to show him on camera right as Mike Tenay said that Orlando, FL was the "center of the wrestling universe" this week and as a graphic came up reading "Derrick Graham-Couch - WWE Wrestler." Tenay would then questioned who else might be in attendance that night, but nobody else was shown. While Tenay and Don West didn't mention McAllister by name, TNA used his real name in the graphic to avoid legal issues with WWE.
A lot of people don't seem to think that this is a big deal, but the fact is that McAllister showing up there went against what was asked of him by his employer. When he was shown in the crowd on Impact, he almost immediately got a text or call stating that he has been shown and was instructed to leave right away. While he has been sent home, he has not been fired. TNA ended up angering many of their employees by showing McAllister. Most figure that he could lose his job with WWE over it. As mentioned, McAllister only went to the show to see his friend, Johnny Devine wrestle, he took the time to stood in line like a normal fan and dressed down in hopes of not being recognized. Many TNA workers feel that the company took advantage of him and have now not only put him at risk of losing his job, but his entire family at risk since McAllister earns the money to support them.
That's the story, that's all the information we have on the situation. So now what do I think about this you may ask? Well, on one hand WWE, his employer told him not to interact with any TNA talent. Whether we agree with that or not, that is a fact.
McAllister then decided that he would go to a TNA show to see his friend. And not any TNA show; but the first LIVE TNA Impact ever. He made the decision to stand in line for hours, take a seat in the Impact Zone and be a part of the crowd. He made the choice to go against the wishes of his employer.
TNA showing him was an attempt at attention during the biggest weekend of the year. This was their first live Impact, they had a WWE employee in the crowd and decided to play off of it. I completely understand why they did that, and hell I may have done the same.
That being said, I think it was a totally shitty thing to do. As stated above, "Many TNA workers feel that the company took advantage of him and have now not only put him at risk of losing his job, but his entire family at risk since McAllister earns the money to support them." If the guy loses his job, TNA should be ashamed of themselves for endangering his livelihood and that of his family.
But at the end of the day, as mentioned, McAllister made the decision to stand in line for hours, take a seat in the Impact Zone, be a part of the crowd and made the choice to go against the wishes of his employer. In the end it was his fault, he is to blame, and if he does lose his job, he only needs to look in the mirror for someone to blame. WWE's "no fraternization edict" may seem like bullshit to us, but the WWE is his boss, they told him not to go and he went anyway. Common sense is completely undervalued these days.
Your News: Despite WWE specifically telling their wrestlers not to socialize with TNA wrestlers this weekend, it has gone on anyway. A pretty large meeting of wrestlers from both promotions went down at a TGI Fridays on Friday and other similar meetings have happened as well over the last few days.
My Views: And this stems off of the above discussion. There was no way that they could stop this from happening, people were going to meet and hang out. Although the thought of Vince charging into TGI Fridays and throwing a fit over Cody Rhodes and Black Reign hanging out makes me laugh.
Your News: WWE heavily papered the last 5,000-7,000 seats for WrestleMania. This is the first time they have had to do this since 1992 or 1993.
My Views: There were tons of people joking about this and saying WrestleMania in Orlando was an "EPIC FAIL." How selling 67,000 tickets is a failure I will never know. Add onto that the fact that the event has set a North American Pro Wrestling record with over $5.7-Million in sales and there is no need to cry for WWE, they are doing just fine. Granted I am surprised that they didn't sell all the tickets, but still, 67,000 sold is nothing to sneeze at.
Your News:WWE invited Blackjack Mulligan and is limoing he and his wife to the Hall of Fame because of the Flair induction.
My Views: Flair and Mulligan were best friends in the late 70's when they owned a van together and would go from town to town and have wild and crazy parties every night. They were also business partner's one point. I think that this was a very nice gesture for WWE to make for Flair. As mentioned, we talk about the shitty things that they do but no one wants to talk about the good. This is some of the good, and they should be commended for it.
Your News: - WWSB ABC 7 in Florida reports that at least 40 people were injured in the WrestleMania pyrotechnics malfunction last night.
My Views: This is a very unfortunate accident to be sure. What amazes me is the fact that people were very quick to say that WWE is at fault due to arrogance. Everyone knew that there would be a ton of pyro and a ton of fireworks, and when you go to en event like this and buy the ticket, you to assume a certain amount of responsibility. WWE was setting up and testing for weeks, and I am sure they took all safety measures very seriously. It was an accident and I just hope that everyone that was injured has a full recovery and no complications from their injuries.
Your News: With WrestleMania 25 being announced for Houston Texas, many feel that the event could be host to Steve Austin's final match.
My Views: Apparently Houston wasn't even a top choice for the event three months ago, and now it is the set location for WrestleMania 25. Not only is there the rumor of Austin's last match, but there are also rumors of him going into the Hall of Fame as well as Taker's final match. Add into this the fact that it could be the perfect time to induct Terry and Dory Funk Jr. and next year could be huge. Of course these are all rumors at this point, but damn if it isn't fun to speculate. I am sure as the months go on we'll get more information about this, which I am looking forward too.
Your News: Rey Mysterio developed an infection after surgery in his bicep. He has now had a total of three surgeries to take care of the muscle tear and infection. Mysterio had a new form of surgery done, and not by Dr. James Andrews who does most of the major surgeries for WWE. Mysterio could be back in June still, but that is not for sure.
My Views: As if recovering from a torn muscle isn't bad enough, infection is always something you have to worry about. The fact that he had to have two follow up surgeries is not good news at all. Hopefully it doesn't delay his recovery that much, but I also hope that he doesn't try to come back too early. Let yourself heal and then come back 100%.

411 PODCAST~!
411's back with another huge podcast broadcast! This week 411's Larry (with barely any voice) and Christi Csonka are back to discuss WrestleMania 24, an event that is getting a very diverse reaction from fans. Was it the worst WrestleMania ever? No way. Was it the best? No, but it was a damn good show that saw Randy Orton retain his title, CM Punk surprisingly winning the Money in the Bank match, Kane setting land speed records to win the ECW title and an awesomely emotional Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels match. Come on in and enjoy!

Andrew Clark brings back The Fink's Payload! Wait, that's not Andy Clark, I hired a dude with the same name? Shit, ok, new guy, you are now known as Garrison Clark.
Your News: Early projections are that TNA will be "significantly profitable" in 2008. TNA has many revenue streams coming in, including rights fees for Impact, the increase in demand for their talent, the upcoming Midway Video Game, overseas TV rights sales and house shows. With these taken into consideration TNA is expected to turn the corner financially, even with their PPV buy rates being lower than they were.
My Views: We have been talking about house shows have been drawing well and how that was good news. But I have to say that this is the best bit of news I have got to report on for TNA in a long time. This is a company that for lack of a better term has been bleeding money for years with reported losses of over $20-million dollars since the beginning of the TNA era. So the fact that they are planning on being "significantly profitable" in 2008 is huge news. I think what is more important than the news that they will be profitable is the news that Panda Energy has not had to put any money into the promotion for over a year. TNA has constantly been losing money and Panda had been supporting them, which is why there has been cuts in various areas in the company. What this means is that TNA has actually become a self-sufficient company. They are supporting themselves, they aren't getting an allowance from daddy anymore and reports are that they either broke even or made a small profit in 2007.
Your News:The live edition of TNA Impact did a 1.0 rating which is actually slightly below what the show usually does.
My Views: I don't see how you can look at this as anything but a disappointment. Now I didn't expect anything high like a 1.5, hell I didn't even expect a 1.3, but I figured that they would at least do the normal 1.1-1.2 rating. Yes I know that the NCAA tournament was on and that many think that this is the reason the rating is down. But when you hype Sting returning for a week and go live with the fan interaction and you cannot even keep your regular rating; that is not good. Obviously this isn't all gloom and doom, but it is not good news at all. Let's hope that they can rebound this week.
Your News: Jeff Jarrett wants to take the TNA product in a more serious direction, ala the Angle vs. Joe build. Jarrett wants more in ring time and the serious edge, while Vince Russo likes doing more pre-tapes and promos, and adding cute lines to them. Dutch Mantell wants what ever Jeff Jarrett wants.
My Views: And I am all for this change in direction, for the simple fact of what I have been saying for years now. TNA was supposed to be the "true alternative" of pro wrestling, and as mentioned way too many times they come off as "WWE's 4th brand." If you want to be noticed and if you want to be successful, you cannot be a copy of WWE. There is only one WWE, and nobody will beat them at their own game. You have to be different to have a chance to succeed, and if TNA is finally making the commitment to doing that I feel that it is a great thing, and I hope that they stick to that. And of course Dutch Mantell wants what ever Jeff Jarrett wants, that is how he has kept a job for so long.
Your News: Apparently TNA was very overwhelmed with the amount of people that showed up for the Impact taping last night and didn't handle the situation in as efficient a manner as they should have had they been better prepared. Apparently fans who were waiting to get in long after the arena had filled up were never told that nobody else would be allowed in until awhile later (this after most of them had already been waiting for hours).
My Views: TNA had to turn away somewhere between 2000 and 3000 fans from the Live Impact. Which makes me ask this question, "Why did they not find a small arena in the area to run this show?" The first live Impact, WrestleMania week with TENS OF THOUSANDS OF FANS IN THE AREA and they were content to run the 900-seat Impact Zone. I think that they made a huge mistake doing that. I would have sought out a 2,000-3,000 seat venue, charged $5 a head, ate the rental fee and tried to pack the place and expose as many new people to the promotion as possible. Add on top of that the reports that TNA had several hundred "VIP's" taking up seats, and this was just a bad execution in my opinion.
Your News: TNA put a lot of work into trying to give the new fans attending their tapings a good impression by creating a very fan-friendly atmosphere. They sent out many wrestlers with sharpies prior to the tapings to sign autographs, and even picked a few fans to go backstage and meet with talent.
My Views: From what I hear this isn't that much different from the normal shows. I am always getting reports of good experiences from TNA tapings and house shows. But they did need to make sure they had their best foot forward for the new fans that were possibly in attendance, so they did that right. I still think they should have ran a larger building, but what is done is done.
Your News: During a recent interview with Fightticker.com, Mark Cuban confirmed that HDNet will air the Randy Couture/Kurt Angle submission match when and if it happens. Angle stated during an interview last week that he would be facing Couture in a submission match, which is like MMA just without the striking.
My Views: Mark Cuban is a smart man, he is getting as much programming for HDNet as he can. If this fight does take place, Cuban is smart to grab it. While Angle does talk a lot of shit regarding MMA, Couture is interested in the fight when his contract ends and he is allowed to fight when and where he pleases. I for one would love to see a submission fight between them. I have no desire to see Angle in full out MMA, but something like this really interests me.
Your News: Frank Trigg is being brought back by TNA to help announce the Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle match at Lockdown. Joe and Angle are going to work their cage match to try and make it look like an MMA match, or do a UWFI style.
My Views: I think this is a great idea. Trigg was excellent on the Live Impact as he joined commentary for the latest Angle workout, and I felt added a lot to the segment. If Joe and Angle are really going to do a UWFI style match, having trig on commentary to put over the purposes of holds and such is a great idea. Also if it shuts West and Tenay up a bit, I am all for it. Although I do thing Frank Mir would have been a better choice.
Your News: - Team 3D, AJ Styles, Kaz and Earl Hebner all showed up at the WWE AXXESS event in Universal Studios at different times over the weekend to promote TNA. WWE was very upset about this and portrayed it as TNA wrestlers leaving their own tapings to go visit with WWE.
My Views: While I think that TNA was smart, business wise to try and "piggy back" so to speak off of WWE's events, this one comes off as a little lame. Sure they were in Universal, but it does come off as "TNA guys leaving their show to visit WWE." I think a lot of the stuff they did to promote the shows was smart, but for some reason this one comes off as desperate. Anyway, if you do this you send 3D, Cage, Rhino, Angle and Booker over. WWE fans know them and may wonder where they are.
The Garrison Clark thing is probably my favorite line I've ever seen from any of
these news reports.

Larry, you didn't talk enough.
Posted By: BC (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 03:11 AM
I would guess that WWE's legal liability in the pyro accident is next to
nothing. Chances are that the company they contract to handle the pyrotechnics
has full legal responsibility in the case of accidents. Still, the bad
publicity sucks. That was the only thing that CNN mentioned about Wrestlemania.

Did the Irish pub have a lot of stereotypical Irish stuff, and thus, end up not
looking like an actual Irish pub at all?
So thats why Chavo got squashed.
Posted By: Keith (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 06:48 AM
It's Orton's birthday? Maybe that's why he retained!
Posted By: T.G. Corke (Registered) on April 01, 2008 at 07:15 AM
Hey BC give him a break. he had to do the Four R's for Wrestlemania too and it
was probably getting late. because they write these early in the morning.

Oh, come on! I have a brother named Garrison. You just made holidays very
confusing for me.
Posted By: Andrew Clark (Registered) on April 01, 2008 at 10:23 AM
So what exactly did Chavo do to be jobbed out so badly on the biggest stage WWE
has? You said he found out about breaking the rules, but what did he do
exactly?
Posted By: JT (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 10:38 AM
Well technically, McCallister wasn't "socializing" or "seen
with" any wrestlers...they didn't say he couldn't go to the show as a fan
:)
Posted By: Erik (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 12:41 PM
I disagree about Robbie "interacting" with TNA wrestlers. He went out
of his way NOT to interact with them. He dressed down, stood in line, and was
just another guy in the audience. Interaction, if you want to go by the
definition of the word, would have had him backstage, hanging out with all the
TNA wrestlers. By McMahon's decree, he should be in no more trouble than if you
or I attended a TNA event, and then a WWE event.
Posted By: Spaz Monkey (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 01:58 PM
I'm happy Orton retained. He has shed that transitional champion label and now
it will be interesting to see where they go from here.
The whole Robbie situation was jacked up on all parties involved.
Great to hear TNA is turning a profit. Best of all they are going to go with
the more serious approach. My only concern is that it won't change the needle
because people will still think "It's not WWE, so i'll pass".
Posted By: Ryder (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 02:32 PM
Just for this week - you needed to end with an actual Ric Flair face plant GIF.
Posted By: BobbyC (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 03:24 PM
I disagree about the Robbie situation as well. What he did was dumb, but didn't
ensure that he would be on TV. TNA and TNA alone made sure it happened.
Posted By: Capt. Smooth (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 05:30 PM
I don't think Chavo got squashed for breaking the rules, I think Chavo got
squashed because he's Chavo Guerrero who was fighting a monster and WWE didn't
want to spend any more time on the ECW Title match then they had to.
Truthfully I'd take a "gimmick" squash of it being really quick over
them giving us three minuts and pretending it's a real match.
Posted By: Andy Clark (Registered) on April 01, 2008 at 06:15 PM
If TNA hadn't shown Robbie on screen I doubt WWE would have minded, it's purely
the fact that WWE talent appeared on a rival show. As for the UWFI style match,
will traditional fans like that type of thing? They are fairly slow paced, and
I saw one ended with a (albeit brutal looking) german suplex, fans used to high
impact moves getting one counts may be disappointed.
Posted By: dennett316 (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 06:26 PM
spaz monkey...WWE talent were told by their employer to not take a course of
action.
MacAllister undertook a course of action that was in direct violation of the
directive laid out by his employer.
he was sent home, and is lucky that, at least for now, he still has a job.
"Stay away from the competition" is an almost universal employment
contract clause and it stems from conflict of interest.
i really am gobsmacked that there are so many people who simply cannot grasp
this most basic of concepts.
don't fraternise with the enemy.
Posted By: Darth Mortis (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 06:39 PM
Darth Mortis, why aren't the other WWE people who hung out with TNA people being
punished?
Posted By: Capt. Smooth (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 07:54 PM
I agree with Darth Mortis about Robbie and couldn't have said it better. Larry,
it almost sounded like you don't think people should reasonably expect not to be
burned by pyro when they attend a show. I'm sure that's not what you meant,
right? There used to be a gif on this site with Brock dancing in a sombrero,
I'd love to see it again. Last and most important, Karen Angle is just about
the hottest woman on earth. I don't care if the IWC hates her, more pics of
her please!
Posted By: Jason (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 07:57 PM
to blame TNA for robbie's retardism is about as dumb as he is. TNA did what
they needed to do to try to make headlines. I would have put him up on camera
ASAP as well. F him. if he can't follow directions his bosses give him, FOR
THIS EXACT REASON!, then the onus is on him.
it's no one's fault but robbie's.
what do you think WWF would have done if Glacier had shown up to a RAW IS WAR
taping in 1999? Glacier is a spare like Robbie McAllister, but you damn sure
know that Vince would have put him on camera.
just stop it with the TNA hate.....they didn't make Robbie sit with the fans
that the cameras pan to.
Posted By: thug saint OGA (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 08:20 PM
Robbie was dumb. TNA was greedy.
Posted By: Capt. Smooth (Guest) on April 01, 2008 at 10:10 PM
MMA is a real sport and I applaud it. However I watch Pro Wrestling because I
want to see the cool manouvers, some level of gimmicks, and some level of Over
the Top! If TNA's new serious direction turns it into predetermined MMA instead
of Pro wrestling, I might look back on the russo era happily. Fake MMA isn't
Professional Wrestling, it's theatre something Wrestling has thought being
called for years. Pro wrestling has always had and always need some level of
toung in cheek goofyness.
As for the Houstin Texas Mania next year. If Austin wants to go into the ring
thats fine but they shouldn't turn it into a "retirement, last match"
thing like they did with Flair, Austin hasn't been an active competitor and at
this point shouldnt be treated as one, I don't care what the website says he's
not on the Raw Roster. He is overdue for the Hall of Fame though, but it'll be
funny because he told vince on Raw "you'll never see me in a suit
again" and every HOF, Austin is in a full monkey suit! and if it's
Undertaker's last match no problem as long as he goes over, I don't think a 16
and 1 sounds as cool as 17-O with Taker retiring undefeated at mania.
the Robbie TNA thing, I watch RAW and heat regularly, I'm actually a
Highlanders mark just because I find them amusing but even I didn't freaking
recognize him, I'm wondering how TNA did.
Posted By: Davy (Guest) on April 02, 2008 at 12:19 AM
You should add a "Ri-god-damn-right" or something like that for the
Flair segment in your R's Friday.

Dude, Larry, proof-read your fucking columns. There's at least 5 typos in the

Well, I keep saying that non-travel PPVs should be in the Silver Spur Arena in
Kissimmee (8300 for hockey, apparently without a hockey TEAM atm), but as for
smaller arenas than that ... gee, I wonder what Dr. Phillips High School (which
is across Turkey Lake Road from Universal) seats in its gym, but I can't think
of too many 3-to-5-thousand seat arenas in this town. So they may not have had
a choice.
