411s Wrestler of the Week 06.09.08: Week 10
Posted by Larry Csonka on 06.09.2008
Samoa Joe is the new King of the Mountain, Kaz earns a title shot, AJ Styles defeats Angle and Tomko, Jacobs and Black win the ROH tag team titles, John Cena earns a title shot and Matt Sydal debuts! But who had the goods to take home the WOTW award? Check out the latest edition of 411's Wrestler of the Week for all the details!
Welcome to Week 10, Year-FOUR, of 411's Wrestler of the Week. A quick overview to kick things off as we have some new rules for year four
Each writer chooses FIVE wrestlers from any promotion and each wrestler gets a point total attached to that ranking. It looks a little like this
1st - 5
2nd - 4
3rd - 3
4th - 2
5th - 1
Then we tally up the votes and the official 411 Wrestler of the Week is crowned. But wait, there's more! Each week the top SIX vote getters get a points value for their ranking which looks something like this
1st - 15
2nd - 12
3rd - 9
4th - 6
5th - 3
6th - 1
...and they go towards the 411 Wrestler of the Year award to be announced each year at WrestleMania. This will be posted every Monday. Let's see who wins this week
The Voting! Andy Clark
1) Samoa Joe
Not only did Joe retain the TNA World Heavyweight Title at TNA's second biggest show of the year, but he became the first champion to ever retain in a King of the Mountain Match.
2) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black: Defeated the two favorite teams in the tag team tournament to win the vacant ROH Tag Team Titles.
3) Kaz & Petey Williams (tie)- Kaz and Petey had a great match at Slammiversary which Petey won. Kaz also won the X-Division King of the Mountain Match on Impact to earn a title shot against Samoa Joe on Thursday.
4) John Cena
5) Colin Delaney
Shawn S. Lealos
1) AJ Styles
First, he delivers a fantastic promo against Kurt Angle, starting to eliminate his dumb hillbilly persona and then he goes out and pins Tomko cleanly. AJ used his highflying "face" style in the match against his former partner and looked fantastic. Then he fought a GREAT 20+ minute match and pinned Kurt Angle with the Styles Clash. A.J. is back and he's going to be huge again, mark my words. No one had a better week. It's about damn time.
2) Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black - They won the ROH Tag Team Titles. That is a big deal.
3) Kevin Steen - Made it to the finals of the Tag Team Tournament and made the ROH Champion tap out along the way. His tag team with Generico went 3-1 over the weekend.
4) CM Punk / Kane
5) John Cena
ARI
1) AJ Styles
I never watch Impact anymore, but on a whim decided to click on for the main event. I saw AJ Styles give an impressive performance, looking like a fiery baby face. Then a win against Kurt Angle (which still means a lot in 2008) at Slammiversary helps catapult him all the way to the number one slot this week.
2) Samoa Joe: A title retention at Slammiversary helps keep the TNA champions' momentum going and helps to somewhat rise him above all this will he or won't he turn on him business with Kevin Nash.
3) Matt Sydal: Mark out city for me when Sydal made his debut on ECW television. he gave a strong performance against Shelton Benjamin, was a part of several memorable moments in the match and got the crowd's attention. He also impressed enough that it seems he will be brought in full time to the ECW roster.
4) Batista
5) Tiger Mask IV
Chris Lansdell
1) Samoa Joe
Normally, a retention would rank below a title win. However, Joe retained where a champion had never done so before, and in the main event of a big pay per view. That puts him ahead of number 2.
2) Petey Williams/Kaz: AWESOME match at Slammiversary, despite Petey's injury, plus a tremendous showing from Kaz on Impact, mean that they too beat out a title win.
3) Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black: Winning the only tag title belts that get good attention these days is a big deal, and then defending them the next night helps your cause. If it had been their first win, they might have grabbed number 1.
4) Matt Sydal
5) JIMMY RAVE~!
Jarrod Westerfeld
1) AJ Styles
Normally, I'd highlight a big title change as being a reason to deserve the top spot of Wrestler of the Week (SERIOUS BUSINESS~), but considering the entire time I watched Slammiversary, I kept cringing and thinking Angle is going to die during this bout. I'm glad he didn't. I'm glad he actually looked good enough to walk out on his own power. I'm glad that these two lived up to the hype and expectations and delivered an easy ****+ match. Though their storyline has taken steps back while progressing to this point, but this match just worked out and everything made sense well, barring Tomko begging, but you should know why I hate that. AJ taking the win, and with a finish that made sense and worked out well without making anyone look dumb (Hard Justice), it certainly solidified AJ as being back into the main event fold. Amazing match from AJ and Kurt, and because of these two, this is well worth picking up the DVD for, as they made me regret not buying the pay-per-view.
2) Petey Williams & Kaz (Tie): Petey retains his X Division title in a match that was indirectly built up, and in many minds stole the show, but Kaz won a King of the Mountain match to earn a World Title match on Impact (and yes, it was announced as a World Title match, just listen to Tenay on that broadcast after Kaz hangs up the X). It's hard to really pull them apart here, so they get to share the honor.
3) Jimmy Rave: I should put Matt Sydal here, but Rave shocked the Japan world by, up until recently losing to Koji Kanemoto, winning out round robin tournament of the Best of the Super Juniors in NJPW. Not only that, but he had a good showing in the X Division's King of the Mountain match over here in America.
4) Matt Sydal
5) Jimmy Rave & Tyler Black (Tag Team)
Jeremy Thomas
1) AJ Styles
Joe may have retained his title, and that counts for a lot. But AJ not only got a strong win in the main event of Impact against Tomko, he also looked great in a huge win against Angle on Slammiversary. Most importantly, though, he left the goof behind, and is AJ FREAKING STYLES again! Thank all the gods for that, and AJ gets WOTW from me for the transition.
2) Samoa Joe: Joe became the first person ever to retain his title in a killer King of the Mountain match, and can move on to his next feud. I just hope it won't be with Nash, 'cause yeah, that'd suck.
3) Kaz: Why does Kaz get picked ahead of Petey, when Petey beat Kaz for the X-Division title at Slammiversary? Simple...while Kaz lost his shot at the X-Division belt, he won a World Title shot on Impact. While this may be the equivalent of asking for five bucks, getting turned down, and asking for five hundred instead, it still means yet another title shot for a man that will hopefully win one, one of these days...even if it's damn well not gonna be this week.
4) Petey Williams
5) Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black
Matt Short
1) Samoa Joe
Done what no man has ever done before and retained the TNA World Title in the King of the Mountain match this Sunday. This was a damn strong statement on the part of TNA and how they're planning on booking Joe in the future.
2) AJ Styles: Rocked the main event on Impact this week defeating his former partner Tomko. Made his week even sweeter by pinning Kurt Angle on PPV.
3) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black: Became two-time ROH Tag Team Champions in an eventful one night tournament after getting through teams like Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson and the favorites Kevin Steen & El Generico.
4) Jimmy Rave
5) Matt Sydal
Samuel Berman
1) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black
Winning the ROH World Tag Team Titles for a second time pretty much automatically earned the Age of the Fall my top spot, but what's more impressive than their second reign (which moves Jacobs back into second place in total title reigns in ROH history with four) was HOW the duo got things done. They bested some of Ring of Honor's best on their way to a tournament victory on Friday and then continued their starring role on Saturday by defeating Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson at Saturday's Pay-Per-View taping. What's more, Black continued his run as ROH's breakout star by pinning former World Champion Danielson to retain the belts in Saturday's contest.
2) Kevin Steen: Though the big man fell short of ROH gold, he did force ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness into submission on his way to a 3-1 weekend record.
3) Chuck Taylor: Retained his IWA Mid-South World Heavyweight Title over Ego Fantastico to continue his run to the 2008 Ted Petty Invitational
4) Chris Hero
5) Chris Bosh and Josh Abercrombie
Ryan Byers
1) Lance Cade
I realize that this pick is going to be a little bit off the beaten path, but the fact of the matter is that nobody came out of this week looking like he had more potential to make himself a superstar in this business than Lance Cade. Though it was hardly the focal point of Monday Night Raw, he looked like GOLD in his in-ring encounter with Trevor Murdoch. He's got the look to be a major player, he's got the charisma to be a major player, and he's got the in-ring talent to be a major player. Whether he becomes one is now dependent entirely on how WWE pushes him. He's certainly got the all of the necessary attributes, and, based on this week's segment, he's putting them to good use.
2) Katie Lea - Any time that you can make an in-ring debut and immediately look like one of the top three wrestlers in your division, you're having a good week.
3) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black - Their first run with the ROH Tag Titles was criminally short, so here's to the AOTF finally becoming the dominant group that they should have been right out of the gate.
4) Tiger Mask IV
5) Tigers Mask
JT
1) AJ Styles
AJ finally didn't look like the clown in the background, and not only defeated Tomko on iMPACT!, but then went ahead and beat Kurt Angle clean on a major PPV for TNA.
2) Samoa Joe: First ever to retain the title, this being the TNA Championship, in a King of the Mountain Match.
3) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black: See all the previous writers comments.
4) Petey Williams
5) John Cena / Chuck Taylor
Stuart James
1) Samoa Joe
Retained in the King of the Mountain match easily gets him the number one spot, it is a big deal and it looks like they're serious with Joe as champion.
2) AJ Styles: Put on a great performance against Kurt Angle and picked up the victory. This feud must continue ... when Angle is healthy again.
3) John Cena & Batista: Putting them together since they both did earn a WWE Title and World Title match respectively, both in very fun enjoyable matches, and they'll take on HHH and Edge at Night of Champions. I think that's well worth a spot in a very busy week.
4) Petey Williams
5) Kaz
Daniel Wilcox
1) AJ Styles
AJ gets my number one spot for completing the transition from goofy AJ to kickass AJ, as well as having a really good bout with Tomko on Impact and beating Kurt Angle in a great match at the pay-per-view.
2) Samoa Joe: Joe retained his title at Slammiversary in a very good King of the Mountain match and in doing so, becomes the first man to retain in this match.
3) John Cena/Batista: Both won fun main events on Raw and SmackDown respectively and in doing so earned themselves world title shots at WWE's Night of Champions.
4) Jeff Hardy
5) Petey Williams
Mathew Sforcina
1) Samoa Joe
What's this, a solid push for Joe? Dear God, what alternate universe have I woken up in?
2) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black- I'd congratulate AOTF with champagne and hookers but they'd just complain about the commercialism of sex or something.
3) AJ Styles- He beat a crippled man. Well done.
4) Katie Lea Burchill
5) Petey Williams/Kaz
Michael Bauer
1) Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black
Look, when it comes down to it, The Age of the Fall did more last weekend then anyone else. They captured the RoH Tag Team Titles for a second time, defeating Steen-erico in the process. They also defeated Aries and Danielson TWICE including on the PPV taping. There is no question they did the most last weekend and deserve to be #1.
2) AJ Styles: AJ did look like a star beating Kurt Angle in the MOTN on PPV.
3) Matt Sydal: You can call it a mark out moment, but Sydal has made his mark in ECW.
4) John Cena
5) Samoa Joe
Larry Csonka
1) Samoa Joe
Joe gets first from me because he did something that never has been done before, be became the first man to enter and leave the KOTM match with the title. That's all I needed to place him in the first spot this week.
2) AJ Styles: A great week as he gets big wins over Tomko and Kurt Angle. Fire-filled AJ is back and that's cool.
3) Kaz: Kaz earned a world title shot and was part of the best match at Slammiversary, even if it was in a losing effort.
4) Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black
5) Batista/John Cena
THE WINNERS!
Special Mention Matt Sydal - 11 Votes
Fifth Place John Cena - 13 Votes
Fourth Place Petey Williams and Kaz - 19 Votes
Third Place Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black - 38 Votes
Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black survive a tournament and by doing so capture the ROH Tag Team Titles for a second time.
Second Place Samoa Joe - 47 Votes
Joe has been rather inactive on TV, but he did become the first man to enter and leave the KOTM match with the title, which was enough for second place.
Wrestler of the Week AJ Styles - 49 Votes
Big wins over Tomko on Impact and Kurt Angle on PPV were what got AJ to the top this week.
Yearend Standings~!
Lots of changes this week as we see Samoa Joe jump up and get himself in a tie for the top spot with Batista. AJ Styles, Kaz and Jacobs all have good weeks and move into those top spots. Finally, after 10-weeks John Cena FINALLY makes his debut on the list, which won't make some people happy.
Samoa Joe 33 (TNA) Batista 33 (Smackdown)
Matt Hardy 30 (Smackdown)
Suwama 24 (All Japan) King William Regal 24 (RAW)
Jimmy Jacobs 21 (ROH)
AJ Styles 18 (TNA) Kaz 18 (TNA)
Homicide 15 (TNA) Hernandez 15 (TNA) Petey Williams 15 (TNA) Ric Flair 15 (WWE) {RETIRED} Edge 15 (Smackdown) Shawn Michaels 15 (RAW) Mickie James 15 (RAW) HHH 15 (RAW) John Morrison 15 (ECW) The Miz 15 (ECW) Bison Smith 15 (NOAH) Akitoshi Saito 15 (NOAH)
The Undertaker 12 (WWE) {"RETIRED"} Jay Briscoe 12 (ROH) Mark Briscoe 12 (ROH) {INJURED} Roderick Strong 12 (ROH) Jack Evans 12 (US Independent)
Just like I said in my comment on Berman's column:
"Indy and Japanese wrestlers don't have the best weeks. A wrestler just
appearing on RAW will always be having a better week than some jackoff
winning some NJPW Title or whatever.
Berman = EPIC FAIL"

AJ hands down. Byers you're a moron.

Running K-Money through the troll to English translator.
"I like attention, please look at me"

Much like clockwork, there's K-Money and his comment. We know we're doing our job if we have him pissed off and coming back for more.
Stay tuned for next week when we'll be voting Min-sik Choi as Wrestler of the Week. ;)

I don't see why anybody would be upset not debuting on the list til this week, they haven't focused on him since WrestleMania, he can't be WOTW if he's only on the show for 5 minutes.
Posted By: Brett (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 01:17 PM
Byers, I have to disagree with you on Cade. He looked like he did every time they decide to give him a singles push: unsure and awkward. Not to mention he has no idea how to pace a match (that knee to the head should have been at the end, not a transitional move).
Posted By: Guest#0119 (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 01:17 PM
I think I agree with Berman's #1 pick :-O
Can someone call Hell and see if it's frozen over???
Posted By: The Sandman (ROH Champ) (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 01:18 PM
Like clockwork, Berman & Byers make some utterly retarded picks. Lance Cade at #1?? What shit have you been smoking Byers? Seriously, you guys can be such arrogant, pretentious fuckwits when you went to be. And Westerfield, you're no better, so keep it shut moron.
Posted By: The Truth (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 01:21 PM
I dont' think he should be WOTW but gotta give some love to Angle for not dying Sunday night.
Posted By: Guest#0912 (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 01:29 PM
Except I'm not a troll. I'm a wrestling fan who is utterly baffled each and every week by Berman's insane, warped, and moronic picks for WOTW. Damn, son. You are horrible.
Posted By: K-Money (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 01:29 PM
HA! The Truth, you think you know the score, do you?
Perhaps you should look in that mirror really hard and see if it isn't you who isn't being nearly as arrogant and pretentious as you're claiming Byers, Berman and myself as being.
I'll admit to my own arrogance - in fact, I revel in that shit, motherfucker. Love me, hate me, doesn't really matter because I'm on this site and you're stuck behind your keyboard reading my shit. It's not me reading your rosy blog about how you stuffed your sisters bear when she was away, and you couldn't find a pair of her panties lying about.
But I'll be sure to keep an eye out on that blog post in the future. Might just have to give you the attention to warrant your own arrogance. :)

Actually.. you're either and idiot, or twelve years old. Id believe either. I also can't imagine that you're allowed unsupervised access to the internet.. but hey.. some people should use a condom.. you're parents decided to have a mistake, instead.. taking their frustrations of insignificance out on the rest of us. Thanks guy. Your fetish for shiny things, flashing lights, and shit that spins sickens me, and.. and if i had to guess, Id say you were a HUGE Bobby Lashley fan. You CERTAINLY have the tastes of one..

Not trying to cause offense to Mr. Westerfeld, but you act like writing on 411 makes you superior simply because we may choose to read what you have to write on a dull Saturday afternoon (or whenever you write whatever). Hell, I used to write for 411 (and that's not a lie) and I just kinda fell out of it because it was boring.
Posted By: Guest#4747 (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 01:44 PM
what isn't Aaron Hubbard part of this column? I was hoping to see some votes for Frank Gotch and the real Rock, our Savior Jesus Christ.
sorry, I couldn't resist....
Posted By: Tony (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 01:50 PM
Sorry Guest#4747, but I looked through the archives and couldn't find a single article written by you. I thought it was the numbers at first, but after much thought and reading, I found there wasn't a single article written by "Guest" so figured the numbers didn't matter.
So please don't take offense when I call bullshit on your little claim.
Posted By: Jarrod Westerfeld (Registered) on June 09, 2008 at 02:17 PM
my WOTW is myself for my indy preformances. were so idy, we dont even get interent coverage. BOOYAH!!!!
Posted By: shaydee (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 02:42 PM
Berman, usually I'm okay with your choices even as they're a tad obscure, but what did Chris Hero do to deserve ANY recognition? The only thing of note he did last week was pin Ruckus.
Posted By: Guest#9940 (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 03:01 PM
The writers that didn't put a single TNA star (Joe, A.J., Kaz) in their top 5 need to get lost. K-Money is right.
Posted By: MikeyCovs (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 03:06 PM
Here's an actual quote from Jarrod Westerfeld:
"call me Csonka-lite, bitches."
I'm afraid this particular comment exposes you as nothing more than a pathetic douchebag, and your opinion as being worthlessly invalid.

Don't worry, I won't. It's not particulary a column I'm proud of just due to it probably being tedious to read, at the time I was just practicing some basic column writing skills, but if you want, look up "Match of the Week" way back from 04-05. Again, it's not good work, but then again, nothing I've read of yours is anything special, so I'd say we're about even.
Posted By: Guest#0397 (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 03:09 PM
I was pleased to see AJ win WOTW. He deserved it.
There are those that have different views because they actually believe them (Berman) and those that have different views for the sake of being different (Byers).
I would also like to say that I appreciate all the work that each of you (Hubbard also) to keep new and refreshing things constantly on this site to entertain us.
That being said, Westerfield, I bet telling the ladies that you write for this site really impresses their pants right off (and no my wife, mom, sister, or gramma don't count on your list).
I hope I can be just like you when I grow up.
Posted By: Angry Bear (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 03:11 PM
Wow, this Westerfeld guy is a really stuck-up, pompous chump isn't he? Somebody needs to help him get the sand out of his vagina already.

Chris Hero won the main event three-way at PWG's show on Sunday, beating Necro Butcher and Jack Evans and earning a title shot at PWG World Champion Human Tornado. Hero then reportedly challenged Tornado to a Steel Cage Guerrilla Warfare Match at PWG's upcoming 5th Anniversary Show.
Posted By: Samuel Berman (Registered) on June 09, 2008 at 03:12 PM
Jarrod Westerfeld, I actually like your Scripted Through Sin column and read it semi-regularly, but I've got to say you've really made yourself look pathetic with some of your comments and responses here. I don't think there's anybody who writes for this site who is quite as stuck-up and smug about it as yourself, stop loving yourself already and come back to reality (you know, the place where it isn't cool and you don't get any female attention if you write for a wrestling website.)
That "The Truth" guy was right, you are moron, and you should keep it shut.
Posted By: Lord Finesse (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 03:18 PM
K-Money: You say the same thing every week, and every week I tell you the same thing. Nobody cares what or who you think WOTW should be. Nobody cares this week. Nobody cared last week, nobody cared the week before last. Nobody will care next week, or the week after next either.
The column is called Wrestler of the Week. Not TV wrestler of the week, and not American wrestler of the week.
Indy and international wrestlers count. They've always counted, and always will count. Get over it. K-Money = Epic Fail.

Ah, thank you. That makes a little more sense now.
How in the hell is Tornado going to wrestle, though? I can only imagine an overbooked mess...which I guess is appropriate given how B-Boy/Joey Ryan went.

KB, you have yourself confused with me. I have no vagina, and no sand trapped inside my orifices. These comments get more and more ridiculous each week, and are a blast to read through as random anonymous nerds sit behind their keyboards getting bitchy about a subjective column and "award" as Wrestler of the Week. It's way too fucking funny.
And yes, Angry Bear, I'm so smooth with the ladies. When I tell them I write for this site, it's instant poon for me. I'm the new "Chris Hyatt" of this site, apparently.

Congratulations again, you are a two bit hack writer on a second rate wrestling site. Your teddy bear thing was absolutely classy too, you really got him there with that one senator Ass Face. Momma must be real proud of her idiot son. I'm sure she wished she had used a coat hanger more than once pal, since seing what a disappointment you have become. You are seriously living in a fantasy if you think anyone that reads your drivel gives enough of a crap to actually love or hate you. Who are you again?
Posted By: Sim Joe (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 04:04 PM
In all honesty, Westerfeld, are you any better than these "anonymous nerds"? We don't know who you are outside your name, and here you are giving your opinions on wrestling like they give matter whatsoever (as I'm sure you're not making any money off of this deal, so I hope you have a real job in between all this). That technically puts you in the same field as the rest of these commenters, even me.
Stop with the superiority complex and come down to the level you're accepted as, not imagining yourself on a perch too high for you to even begin climbing.

Feeding the trolls here is fun. Always results in you idiots getting your panties further into a bunch.
The fact that the heat is off of Berman and onto me for simply having fun with you morons goes to prove how easy it is to upset the morons of the internet.
Now for my next act, I'll proceed to sit back and watch the heat fall onto another writer after they proceed to vote for Indy-generic wrestler #571 at next week's "Award Ceremony".

Everybody in the comments section lost. Including me. Westerfield really lost tho, dude just take it to the chin. You're sposed to expect people to have opinions on it butchu took it to the heart and started ego-trippin, bad business my dude... ok, now go ahead and hit me witcha diatribe about nerdiness when you started as a fan of the site just like every other writer on 411... and when you disagreed with somethin somebody said, i'm sure you didn't call yourself a nerd right?
Posted By: Joe (Guest) on June 09, 2008 at 04:29 PM
Westerfield, i dug your column, but i hope you're drunk right now because you really are coming off like a douche, and not one you can "revel" in and be proud of.
I don't mind your picks at all, or any other writers' picks for that matter, that's what makes me look stuff up half the time to see what I might be missing, but you're seriously coming off like a total tool...

This comment here had me laughing so hard I almost spilt my beer. Is this douchebag for real? He gets called out for acting like a complete tool, trying to be all high & mighty because he writes for a wrestling website (one he doesn't even get paid for either. And lets be honest, his contributions are located somewhere in that anorexic space between pathetic and worthless) and now he is trying to backtrack and claim he is just "feeding the trolls" - erm, no Westerfeld, I'll think you will find that for all intents and purpose you ARE the troll.
You are one of those particularly irritating writers who tries to do the whole sarcastic, "I'm better than you" acerbic putdown shtick, but unfortunately you haven't got the capacity to do so and thus just end up looking like a pathetic hack. Give it up already, you're just making yourself look more of a douche (and, might I add, losing more potential readers for your crappy columns) with every shitty reply you post.
And don't bother with the inevitably piss-poor comeback, I don't care. And don't try and draw a shitty conclusion about my name either, its ironic.

Joe, I never once tripped on this site before becoming a writer. I was told there was a writing position available here from friends who do frequent this site, so I took up the challenge, landed the "job" and slowly became a fan of certain writers. End of story.
The "ego tripping" stuff is just doing some trolling myself, because it's so easy to get so many of the commentators to piss themselves over OPINIONS ON THE INTERNET~ Seriously, it's all fun and games, and the fact so many people take this "award" so seriously, every week, going to the extent of bashing Berman, Byers, Bauer, Csonka and others is just too funny to pass up. This has become my favorite hobby - fishing for trolls. No other column on this site does this nearly as effectively as this one, and it's just so easy and fun to do.
Seriously, I love how everyone is starting to think it's ME that's taking this thing so seriously. I'm laughing the entire time I'm writing these words. I'm busting a gut at the ridiculous nature of these comments. Every week, the same story.
If you all want to get upset that I'm implying an ego unto myself and being overly arrogant about being a writer for this site, I have reason to: I'm writing this stuff and you guys are getting worked up and upset over it. Half of the hate I get is dumb anyway, so I might as well pull in more and see how much dumber it can become.
INTERNET = SERIOUS BUSINESS~

Mr. Westerfield - I don't believe we saw a response to this:
It's not particulary a column I'm proud of just
due to it probably being tedious to read, at the time I was just
practicing some basic column writing skills, but if you want, look up
"Match of the Week" way back from 04-05. Again, it's not
good work, but then again, nothing I've read of yours is anything
special, so I'd say we're about even.

Dis you find the record and are afraid to admit that you might have been wrong calling someone a liar? I am not here to bash you(others have already done that). So, did you find the column? Enquiring minds want to know.

So, basically Westerfeld is admitting to being a douchebag. I kind of already knew that, but now that it's confirmed, I feel ready to move on.

Corrections - Westerfeld and Did. Enquiring was completely intentional.

At least someones laughing. I had a hard time reading your comments over all the crickets.
And Berman, is that the same Chris Bosh that plays in the NBA? If it is then it makes more sense with the rest of your picks. AWFUL.

You know what provides a good laugh? Looking up Westerfeld on Facebook and seeing the greasy, ugly face behind the high and mighty ego.

Kaz have two great matches, one of them was best match on Slammiversary. He must have even higher place when Joe (who was inactive on TV). And Jimmy Rave deserve better spot too.

Lance Cade, nice choice.
See, now thats creative, someone get Ryan to replace the TNA creative staff now

Yeah Jarrod, I don't even know how I can defend knowing you anymore.

Byers was one of 15 voters. Each voter has 15 votes, for a total of 225 total votes. Byers' vote for Cade and the Masks was 8. 8/225 is 0.035 repeater. That is less than the 0.05, so I can say with 95% confidence that this list accurately reflects on what happened.
Translation: The guy likes to make weird picks that have no impact on the scores. What's the big deal?

Guys, don't bother. You're only feeding Westerfield. If "we" as readers of this site have any sense, we'll simply make sure we remember this unprofessional crap, and apply that prior knowledge when deciding what columns to read. When his poor excuse for writing gets no hits and he gets removed, then "we" won't have to deal with the troll at all.
Seriously, in this case, prevention is the cure. If no-one reads his "writing", and no-one comments on it, then he has no one to troll to get his "e-penis" hard. If he has no column, then he has no outlet to espouse his "holier-than-thou" egotistical crap, and no-one will care anymore. It's as simple as that guys... Vote with your mice, click something that comes from someone without the messiah complex, someone with some resemblance of a prefessional attitude to writing.

May I ask why Christi Csonka isn't voting here anymore? Her picks were inevitably smarter, more sensible, and explained with better reasoning than several of the ignoramouses -- er, excuse me, respected writers -- still voting. *Leads the dozens -- and dozens -- of her fans in a "bring back Christi!" chant*

There's definitely been an increase in the insults, flaming & general negativity on this site in recent weeks, a lot of it directed against the 411 writers as well. I think the vast majority of this is just down to a few individuals looking to stir things up and make issues out of nothing (e.g. the recent crap directed against Samuel Berman and Aaron Hubbard, two excellent writers who really don't deserve it at all), but I have to say that in this instance, Jarrod Westerfeld has really let himself down. I'd even go as far as to say he's shown himself to be quite a pathetic person.
I, for one, won't be bothering with any of his columns or writings anytime soon, and I'm sure there are other readers who have read his comments on this page and thought the same thing.
Its sad, because in positioning himself as the centre of attention to fuel his arrogance and apparant god complex, he has drawn attention away from what we are all here for - a shared love & appreciation of the art of pro-wrestling. Let's not forget that.

The Chris Bosh in question is not the Toronto Raptors' power forward, but rather the former PWG star who returned from a year-long absence from the company at Sunday's show. "Photogenic" Chris Bosh will be facing former Dynasty stablemate Scorpio Sky at PWG's upcoming 5th Anniversary Show.

Some people just forget what this column not called "WWE Wrestler of the Week"
Posted By: L'Mago (Guest) on June 10, 2008 at 04:05 AM
Holy Christ...... you are all big, big nerds. Like huge nerds. Wow... just... wow. Just read/write the columns please. Wow.
Posted By: BP (Guest) on June 10, 2008 at 04:39 AM
Berman is still No. 1 heel (don't think this week's picks can be qualified as obtusely obscure though no doubt people will do so anyway) on 411 but Westerfield you are drawing X-Pac heat lately.
I haven't seen AJ v Angle yet and I underatdn voting criteria differs from person to person but surely Angle deserves some shared recognition for that match? Though, saying that, I guess Jacobs & Black take up the "two wrestlers as one" slot.
oh, and Thomas, "While this may be the equivalent of asking for five bucks, getting turned down, and asking for five hundred instead" is a great analogy. :)

this is the first time i have ever read all the comments on a column when they number over 50.
Seriously that was some of the funniest shit i've ever read on this site. Anyone who skipped to the end and is reading my post do yourself a favor and read all the posts start to finish, you will laugh your fucking ass off.
Oh and to Westerfield, you are def coming off as a douche bag but line about the sisters panties made me laugh out loud in the middle of the office so kudos my man.

What I really hate is that the writers are considering the readers as something to play with. I really enjoy being on 411mania , but if it continues like that, I guess we(readers) have to do something....like maybe....can you spell DDOS?

Will Linda Evans be in Scorpio Sky's corner? I smell a pool fight!
Posted By: Scrotum Pole (Guest) on June 10, 2008 at 08:39 PM
keep arguing with each other, this is truly more entertaining than the column itself :D
Back on topic, I also disagree with the selection of Lance Cade. When TNA guys had such big weeks, a WWE midcarder with (imo pretty low) potential shouldn't make no. 1
Posted By: D-Day (Guest) on June 11, 2008 at 02:18 AM
Yeah, Lance Cade is really using that potential now, eh Byers? LOSING TO SOMEONE NOT EVEN SIGNED TO THE PROMOTION.
