TNA Hard Justice Preview 08.09.08
Posted by Seth Roy on 08.09.2008

This weekend, TNA presents the HaRdCoRe event of the year! Wait. Wasn't that last month? Or, didn't Lockdown at least qualify for that? Whatever.

Disclaimer: The last month has been rough for my Impact viewing. My VCR (yes, I still use a VCR.) went haywire for a couple weeks (and now it's working again. I did nothing to it.) and I have had meetings late on Thursdays to cover, which doesn't normally happen. I DID, however, see this past week's Impact, and it seems like I didn't miss a damned thing.

Onto the preview!
Six-woman tag team match
The Beautiful People and Awesome Kong vs. Taylor Wilde, Gail Kim and ODB
Background: These two sides have basically been feuding since the beginning of the Knockouts division, with the exception of Taylor, who was added a bit more recently. Basically, The Beautiful People and Gail and ODB have hated each other for a while, and have been fighting each other forever. Also, Awesome Kong took the title from Gail Kim. Fast forward to about a month ago, and Taylor Wilde is inserted into the program by scoring two fluke wins against Kong and downright embarrassing the Beautiful People by beating them quickly.
Match: I don't even have to say it, but the women's wrestling in TNA has been top-notch all along, and this match should be no different, assuming Velvet Sky has limited time in the ring. I would expect Kong to run a bit rampant until the faces figure out a way to work together and slay the beast. Kong won't take the pin, though.
Will win: Gail Kim will get the pin on a Beautiful Person, which could very well set her up for a title shot.
Should win: Either Gail or ODB should get the pin on a Beautiful Person. Or Kong could get disqualified by killing a dirty b****.

Black Tie Brawl and Chain Match
Sonjay Dutt vs. "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal
Background: Jay Lethal started acting like Macho Man, and proposed to SoCal Val (Miss Elizabeth), and asked his best friend Sonjay Dutt to be his best man, only for Sonjay to ruin the wedding. The two eventually fought in a Pink Taco. Sonjay stole Val's engagement ring, but still has her fooled. And this is the blow-off match.
Match: What the hell is a Black Tie Brawl and Chain Match? I'll TELL you what it is! Don West got a bit too excited when he was talking about the stipulations: Basically, both guys will be dressed in tuxedos, and the way to win is by either STRIPPING the other guy down or by pinning him. I don't know, but I think if I were a dude (which I am), I would just rather pin the other dude rather than strip him. Don West would rather see titties, though. Aside from the silliness, this should be a pretty good match with a lot of fast-paced action.
Will Win: Well, if this is the blow-off match, then Lethal will win. But I have a sneaking suspicion that Dutt will win with Val's help. The whole ring thing was a ploy.
Should win: Jay Lethal, with no Val help. Please, end this program now.

New Jersey Street Fight
Team 3D vs. Christian Cage and Rhino
Background: Doesn't it seem like these two teams have been fighting forever and getting nothing accomplished? One week, 3D kills Rhino, and the next, 3D slams Christian through a glass table, then Christian and Rhino come back and get revenge. Here we go.
Match-up: Is a New Jersey Street Fight similar to an NYC Parking Lot Brawl? This should be a fine pay-per-view match, but I'm really not looking much forward to it. Why? Because we just saw an eight-man tag match, that was hardcore, on Impact. This one just might have some blood in it, which would take away from the next match.
Will win/should win: Honestly, I have no idea. You could make a case for either team. Maybe it depends on who actually wins the tag title match? Let's go with Team 3D just for fun, since they've had it handed to them for a while now.

Last Man Standing
AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle
Background: These two have been friends for a while, as AJ jumped allegiances from Christian to Kurt, and held the tag titles with Tomko in that stable. All along, Prince AJ had a crush on Karen Angle, who, because of Kurt's constant douchbaggery, looked for some companionship with AJ. Kurt accuses them of cheating, while AJ and Karen have denied that all along. Kurt and AJ met a couple months ago, with AJ getting the win. Kurt got the win back in a six-man tag team match, with some help from Frank Trigg. Then, a couple weeks ago, Kurt hit the Angle Slam on AJ multiple times from behind (get your mind out of the gutter!). AJ challenged Kurt to a Last Man Standing match.
Match-up: This should steal the show, and would even more if there weren't any other stipulation-heavy matches. This has been built pretty well, even if some of the Karen stuff was annoying at times, and these two just want to kill each other. Expect a big brawl at first, with maybe a transition into a more technical match before building to a crescendo with a lot of weapons.
Will win: Kurt Angle. For some reason, I think TNA is going to go with Kurt here to extend the feud. Maybe he will win with the help of Frank Trigg again, setting up a match between AJ and Trigg in September before AJ and Kurt have the ultimate blow-off at Bound for Glory. (Though, I don't know how you have a more intense match than this.)
Should win: AJ Styles. This should be the final match of this good-to-great feud, and AJ should go over. If it weren't a Last Man Standing match, I could see the merits for it going on longer. What else are they going to do? Have them both lose? ...

TNA X-Division Title Match
Petey Williams © vs. Consequences Creed
Background: Consequences Creed got a roll-up win against Petey a couple weeks ago, and then against the Motor City Machine Guns this week.
Match-up: They put on a pretty good match on Impact, and with an uninterrupted 12 minutes, they should hopefully be able to do well again. It's too bad the X Division title still is never built up well, and Petey's reign has been mostly underwhelming. Oh well. It'll be fun, right?
Will win: Petey. This match will give Consequences a chance to strut his stuff on pay-per-view, and will give Petey another needed win.
Should win: Petey

TNA Tag Team Title Match
LAX © vs. Beer Money
Background Beer Money beat Christian and Rhino, with 3D's help, a few weeks ago to earn the shot, but the teams have been feuding for a while now.
Match-up: Regardless of whether I am tired of these two teams going at it, this should be really good, as long as TNA doesn't pull the trigger on an LAX break-up yet.
Will win: LAX. They're still the best team in TNA, and it isn't time yet to take the belts off of them. Maybe a DQ win?
Should win: LAX.

TNA World Title Six Sides of Steel Weapons Filled Cage Match:
Samoa Joe © vs. Booker T
Background: At the last pay-per-view, Samoa Joe went nuts on Booker T, Sting laid Joe out and Booker stole the title belt. Since then, Joe said he was cool with Booker having his belt, and "Sting" has been conspicuous by his absence, with the lights randomly going out in the Impact Zone and his bat appearing out of nowhere. Joe challenged booker to this match.
Match-up: Please, please, please don't let Sting interfere until after the match.
Will win: Samoa Joe. Say hello to a match with Kevin Nash, then with Sting before Joe drops the title to AJ Styles after Bound for Glory.
Should win: Joe
