411's Roundtable Preview: TNA Bound for Glory IV
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 10.11.2008
Sting and Samoa Joe fight for the TNA World Heavyweight Title! Plus, Jeff Jarrett's in-ring return against Kurt Angle with Foley as special enforcer, a Monster's Ball match like we've never seen before, the X-Division and Knockouts Championships on the line and more! Come on by the Roundtable and see what the 411 staff thinks about TNA's biggest Pay-Per-View of the Year!
Greetings and salutations, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the 411 Round Table Preview. I'm Jeremy Thomas, film/DVD reviewer and writer of the Raw R's, taking over for Chris Lansdell so the poor man can have a night free once a month. This month is TNA's own WrestleMania, Bound for Glory, and we have the return of Jeff Jarrett, Mick Foley as a guest referee, two three-way dances with some real potential, a four-way tag team Monster's Ball, and of course Sting vs. Samoa Joe for the TNA Heavyweight Title.
So, let's get right down to it…right after we introduce our participants!
Smashing Pumpkins, folks. Great for Watchmen movie trailers, not so much for wrestling shows.
TNA Bound for Glory IV
THE CARD:
TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Samoa Joe vs. "The Icon" Sting
Julian Bond: I am an avid TNA fan and am a constant supporter of the company as a whole. But I'll have to admit...my man Samoa Joe's reign at the top as champ honestly hasn't really impressed me all that much. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but his recent feuds against Booker T, Steiner, and Angle have lacked that true "main event feel". But now FINALLY they're given Joe the perfect opponent in Sting. While the feud started off weird and kind of slow, it has now picked up big time and I'm actually looking forward to Joe defending the belt on PPV. It's too bad now that I think that in this defense, he'll drop the strap to Sting (for the Stinger to continue his BFG winning streak) and hopefully this will turn Joe back into the raged, crazed dude we all know and love when chasing after Sting for revenge.
Winner: NEW TNA Champion Sting
Michael Weyer: I'd like to think TNA will be smart enough to see that Joe is still their big guy. I'd like to think they recognize having an old-timer like Sting as world champ again isn't good for the company's future and all that. But we all know how TNA does often reject logic for some stuff and they've been setting up Sting so much a title win seems obvious. However, I do hold out some hope that maybe, just maybe, TNA will actually do the right thing and have Sting put Joe over to hopefully give Joe's reign more of a push and the man himself some respect. A guy can dream, right?
Winner and Still TNA World Champion: Samoa Joe
Jarrod Westerfeld: With the stipulation that there won't be a rematch from this bout in place, then I'm fearful that what's going to happen is another Sting and Jarrett feud. What irks me is that Joe looks like the heel here and Sting the face despite their alliances; Joe has a face AJ on his side, while Sting aligns himself with Angle, Booker and Team 3D, all of whom are heels. And who is going to accept a heel Joe going over a face Sting on this stage?
Winner: Sting
Andy Clark: This is a very interesting match due to its placement in the whole TNA Originals vs. Old School feud. You might think that this would match would come at the end of the feud with, hopefully, Joe going over. However this is at the beginning of the feud so things are a bit cloudier. I say we get the SWERVE~! with Kevin Nash turning on Joe, keeping Sting undefeated at Bound For Glory.
Winner and NEW TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Sting
Owain J. Brimfield: I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, common sense says Joe should retain to put the heel veterans in their place, setting up a few more defenses against the veteran heels before having to deal with AJ Styles. On the other hand, it's TNA. There's no reason Sting should really take this, the matchup is more about the marquee names than a genuine challenge, and it gives Joe a solid victory to take to the rest of his challengers.
Winner: Samoa Joe
Jeremy Thomas: I really don't like the idea of Joe dropping the title here, but I think it's going to happen. Joe's feuded with most of the heels he can feud with for the title, and pretty much any feud will be fresh for the Stinger. I see this being a good-to-great match that sees all sorts of havoc being thrown around in an overbooked ending, and Sting will get a nefarious pin on Joe after someone nails him; probably either Nash, Christian, or AJ, frankly. Whether it will be an OMG SHOCKING SWERVE or an accidental hit remains to be seen; either way, I think we see a new champ here.
Winner: Sting (Pin via the Overbooked Finish; NEW TNA World Heavyweight Champion)
Dan Torkel: Joe already became the first champ to retain in KOTM, here he will be the first person to beat Sting in a BFG Title match. The last two years, Sting won only to become a transitional champion. I cannot see them putting so much into Joe simply for another shortened Sting run. I think Joe goes over strong to trigger the young/old feud.
Winner: And Still TNA World Champion: Samoa Joe (Choke a bitch)
Robert S. Leighty Jr: This is Sting's 3rd consecutive BFG Main Event, and his third time challenging for the title. This time he is being cast as the heel (I think), and if this is TNA's WrestleMania, the face must go over. I would not be shocked to see Sting walk away with the Gold again, and then drop the strap back to Joe in Impact (Play for the Ratings: Yeah!), but common sense seems to dictate Joe going over strong.
Winner and Still TNA World Champion: Samoa Joe
Larry Csonka: With the stipulation that there is no rematch, I figure that this will be the perfect time to screw Joe out of the title. He'll then have a long road back to the belt, and have to run the gauntlet of the veterans.
Winner:"The Icon" Sting
411Mania Roundtable Consensus: Sting 5, Samoa Joe 4
TNA GRUDGE MATCH
"King Of The Mountain" Jeff Jarrett vs. Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle
Special Enforcer: Mick Foley
Julian Bond: Initially on paper, it would seem like a match that was randomly put together just to fill up space on the card. But they have really made the story behind this match-up seem very personal and interesting. Jarrett returns to put Angle in place, Angle's talking crap about TNA, and Foley's just along for the ride. Seems like a pretty good combination and should equal for an intense match. I'll take Double J for the win after some Foley involvement.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett
Michael Weyer: Credit has to go to TNA for making a good storyline in just a few weeks for this. Angle is obviously smarting from injuries but can still go and Jarrett has a serious case of ring rust but they should be able to make this work and Foley as ref adds a dynamic to it. For the match, come on, no way Jarrett loses in his first big match back after so long.
Winner: Double J
Jarrod Westerfeld: Is there a future for this feud, because I'm not seeing it. The way I'm seeing it, unfortunately, is that Jeff is going to be the champion of the young workers cause over Sting and the veterans, and will be the contender to challenge Sting's newly won championship. Not only that but this is Jeff's return match and in the wrestling world return matches are generally big wins for the returning party.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett
Andy Clark: This should be really good. If Foley wasn't the guest referee I wouldn't really know which way to go with my pick, but I'd imagine they'd want Jarrett to go over here so Foley doesn't look like a goof. Plus, Angle losing sets up a potential Foley-Angle match (a match that'd probably draw more PPV buys than the average) and potentially sets up Jarrett to challenge Sting for the title. I suppose there is always the possibility of Foley turning heel and aligning with Angle and Sting, but Foley seemed remorseful about turning on the fans during the ECW/Ric Flair feuds so I doubt he'd want to waste a heel run in TNA.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett
Owain J. Brimfield: This feud has been short but built well thanks to some good promo work, but there's no way JJ takes the pin at TNA's signature event in his first match in two years.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett
Jeremy Thomas: It's Jarrett's return match, and Foley's the enforcer. It's also Bound for Glory. HOWEVER! I think Foley shocks us all and swerves Jarrett, aligning himself with the veterans and giving Angle the win. Yes, I'm way out on a limb here, but there's no way the enforcer isn't involved in some way, and Mick works better as one of the veterans then trying to play with the TNA Originals.
Winner: Kurt Angle (Pin via Foley swerve)
Dan Torkel: At first, I thought they would build to a Foley heel turn where he screws Jarrett to let Angle win. But JJ has been through enough and deserves a return win. So Foley takes exception to an Angle cheapshot and helps JJ score the win.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett (Mick mandible claw leading to Stroke)
Robert S. Leighty Jr: Angle has been an evil bastard with his jabs at Jarret's deceased wife and his kids. Jarrett has done a good job of playing the sympathetic face. This should be a pretty decent match, and Foley should add. He usually does quite a good job in the Special Enforcer role. I'll take Angle because a heel has to win one of these matches.
Winner: Kurt Angle
Larry Csonka: I have high hopes for this match. Angle has quietly been having good matches all year, and Jarrett is criminally underrated in my opinion. I figure Foley has something to do with the ending, leading to an Angle vs. Foley match.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett
411Mania Roundtable Consensus: Jeff Jarrett 7, Kurt Angle 2
THREE WAY MATCH
Booker T (w/ Sharmell) vs. "The Instant Classic" Christian Cage vs. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
Julian Bond: This seems like another "thrown together" match, but TNA is again plotting it out surprisingly nicely. Cage and Styles have been at each other's throats as of late and Booker T is just stirring the pot of the tension between the two. In my silly old conspiracy theory, I think that Booker T maybe has a contract of some sort in that mysterious briefcase of his to eventually offer to Cage to join his side of "top stars in TNA" along with Sting, Angle and the rest. This should be a great display of wrestling from the best and Booker T will come out on top to further the eventual showdown between Styles and Cage.
Winner: Booker T
Michael Weyer: Another match developed nicely in a short time, this is a tricky one to figure a winner on. All three could use it and the mixture of styles promises a great matchup. For the winner, somehow see Cage managing to get the pin out in order to challenge Joe for the belt down the line.
Winner: The Instant Classic
Jarrod Westerfeld: So this is a war for Christian's allegiance with Christian in the middle to decide the outcome for himself. I don't get it. If Cage wins then does that mean we get the answer as to who he aligns himself up with? If he doesn't, does that answer the question? The only answer I can see here is Cage wins, but who does he pin to win and who does he end up aligning himself with?
Winner: Christian Cage
Andy Clark: Another match that could be very good. Not sure if these are elimination rules or not, but I'd lean towards not. I think it comes down to either AJ or Christian, and I'll go with Christian as he turns to the dark side and joins the veterans.
Winner: Christian Cage
Jeremy Thomas: This is a potential show-stealer right here. The obvious question of Christian's loyalty should be answered as he goes over, and I think he goes over Booker to stay with the Originals in this feud. This can also build Christian toward an eventual title shot against Sting, while AJ and Booker feud on.
Winner: Christian Cage (Pins Booker T)
Dan Torkel: This is being billed like a #1 contender's match which it should be. With Cage's contract ending soon and Booker having got his chance, I think AJ should and will win this match. This can lead to a PPV 6-man with Joe/AJ/Jarrett vs. Booker/Angle/Cage. Then AJ goes after Joe. They have worked so hard to rebuild AJ after the horrible few months of comedy sketches. Here they can secure his future with a huge win.
Winner: AJ Styles (Cage Unprettier on Booker, AJ Spiral Tap on Cage, AJ pin Booker)
Robert S. Leighty Jr: This very well could steal the show depending how motivated Booker T is. Cage and Styles always deliver on PPV, and I don't look for anything different here. Put the homegrown talent over and build him to bigger and better things.
Winner: AJ Styles
Larry Csonka: Again, there is the potential for this to kick ass. I figure the briefcase comes into play here, and Booker allows Cage to defeat AJ, cementing Cage's status with "the veterans."
Winner: Christian Cage
411Mania Roundtable Consensus: Christian Cage 6, AJ Styles 2, Booker T 1
MONSTER'S BALL WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:
Champions Beer Money Inc. vs. Team 3D vs. The Latin American Xchange vs. Abyss & Matt Morgan
Special Referee: Steve "Mongo" McMichael
Julian Bond: I think that the Monster's Ball match is now officially TNA's answer to WWE's annual "Money in The Bank". What started out as a casual hardcore match-up with 3 people has now blown up to having 8 tag team participants. This should be a real sick brawl with some crazy looking spots involved and I'm guessing that Beer Money retains just barely over everyone else.
Winner: STILL TNA Tag Team Champs Beer Money
Michael Weyer: Damn, where the hell has Mongo been the last few years? Not happy what was once a cool matchup is being used so arbitrarily but it should be a wild brawl for the gold. I'd like to see LAX win but it sounds like TNA is ready to split them up and Team 3D are mostly filler. That leaves the champs and the challengers and since it's a match that favors big men, I think this is a likely title change scenario.
Winner and NEW TNA Tag Team Champions: Abyss & Matt Morgan
Jarrod Westerfeld: Team 3D has an uncertain future, LAX could be split depending upon the company's view on Hernandez as a singles star, and Abyss and Morgan look more like they're going to be feuding amongst themselves at some point. And just because I can comment upon it, Steve McMichael looks like death.
Winner: Beer Money Inc.
Andy Clark: This may be the match I am most excited about. This has the potential to be the best Monster's Ball Match since the first Bound for Glory. I thought Mongo was kind of a random addition to this match until I remembered that the show is taking place in Chicago. As great as Beer Money has been I think we'll get a title change, but the question is to who? I say Abyss needs to get his hardcore back on and the wacky team of he and Morgan walk away with the belts, giving us a fresh feud with Beer Money post BFG.
Winners and NEW TNA World Tag Team Champions: Matt Morgan & Abyss
Owain J. Brimfield: This should be, literally, a ball. LAX is possibly on the verge of a split, 3D has no business with the titles, and while Abyss and Morgan are showing chemistry I don't think they've quite clicked it together yet. Plus, of course, Beer Money rules the world.
Winner: Beer Money Inc.
Jeremy Thomas: Mongo. Ugh. With that out of the way, this should be crazy but good. There's no reason to put the belts on Team 3D, they're over as they can be without them. LAX probably won't win so they can then feud, which brings it down to Abyss and Morgan or Beer Money. While I could see either of them taking the belts away, I gotta go with the champs retaining for now. It's Beer Money, after all.
Winner: Beer Money (Roode pins Homicide; STILL TNA World Tag Team Champions)
Dan Torkel: I hate switching titles during a multi-man match because call me old fashioned but I love building to blood feuds. I think Abyss will be reluctant to use weapons causing a rift between he and Morgan, and 3D and LAX are yesterday's news. Therefore the only solution is the epic combo of Beer and Money.
Winner: And still TNA Tag Team Champions: BEER MONEY INC (bottle broken + Superkick on Abyss)
Robert S. Leighty Jr: Monster's Ball has been a great, chaotic brawl over the years, and this one shouldn't be much different. These 8 men should thrive in this environment and hopefully it won't turn into too much of a clusterfuck. Abyss and Morgan are the only unestablished team, so I guess we'll pick them.
Winner and NEW TNA Tag Team Champions: Abyss & Matt Morgan
Larry Csonka: This should be a pretty kick ass match. I like all four teams, and if given the proper time they could really put on a great match. I will say that Beer Money retains for now.
Winner: Beer Money Inc.
411Mania Roundtable Consensus: Beer Money 6, Abyss & Morgan 3, LAX 0, Team 3D 0
TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed
Julian Bond: This should be an awesome bout. Who would've thought that the former Davari would be such a bad-ass in TNA? They really haven't been building this bout as much, so conventional wisdom would say that Bashir retains, but I believe that good ol' crazed Referee Shane should be involved in this and ends up costing Bashir the belt to the much deserved Consequences Creed.
Winner: NEW TNA X-Division Champion Consequences Creed
Michael Weyer: Bashir has done better than expected but his title win last month was pretty much to set up this. TNA has been hyping up Creed way too long not to pull the trigger on him at the top and hopefully he can help the X Division click as hot again. So expect him to win with a big pop.
Winner and NEW X Division Champion: Creed
Jarrod Westerfeld: Is that referee that attacked Bashir going to be the official of this match? If so, then I'm banking on Creed being the victor of this match.
Winner: Consequences Creed
Andy Clark: This could be a surprisingly fun match. I always like the big face title wins at a big show, but Bashir JUST won the title and I'm not sure if he'll lose it now. Maybe Glamour Boy Shane will be the referee again and cost Bashir the title, making him even more evil.
Winner and NEW X-Division Champion: Consequences Creed
Owain J. Brimfield: BFG is traditionally the event where the faces keep going over, and this seems a logical outcome for this match. Creed deserves a good run with the title to reignite the X Division.
Winner: Consequences Creed
Jeremy Thomas: I picked Creed to win last month and he didn't. This month, I don't think he lets me down, and I'm going with him like most of my fellow Roundtable-ees, most likely when Shane Sewell gets involved somehow. It'll make for a good strong pop midway through the show and be a good match on top of it.
Winner: Consequences Creed (Pinfall following Sewell Shenanigans; NEW TNA X-Division Champion)
Dan Torkel: I think Bashir should win, but I see his feud with the wrestling ref cost him the title here. Then he can call Anti-Arab shenanigans and demand a title rematch on Impact or at the next PPV.
Winner: And NEW TNA X-Division Champion - Consequences Creed (Ref-interference)
Robert S. Leighty Jr: I can't have all these title changes, so someone is going to have to retain. Bashir is doing well, and they can blow this off later in Ultimate X or something else along those lines.
Winner and Still X Division Champion: Sheik Abdul Bashir
Larry Csonka: These guys have shown some good chemistry in the past and at the very least this will be a solid match. I will say that Shane Sewell is the ref and ends up screwing Bashir, leading to Sewell being stripped of his officiating duties and becoming a wrestler.
Winner: Consequences Creed
411Mania Roundtable Consensus: Consequences Creed 8, Sheik Abdul Bashir 1
TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi
Julian Bond: While it seems thrown together, this bout should still be an excellent affair. I've always dug Roxxi since day one and I'm so glad that TNA is finally running those "Rough Cuts" segments on her and giving her some more play. Since it's a triple threat match and the fact that Wilde hasn't really been crazy over as of late, I believe (and hope) that Roxxi gets the win and the belt.
Winner: NEW TNA Knockout Champion Roxxi
Michael Weyer: Making it a three way is intriguing but shows how they need some fresh blood in the Knockouts division with Kim gone. I would have gone with Kong before but the way TNA has been pushing Roxxi (who has always been a favorite of mine), I can see her coming up with the title win on a freak roll-up and make up for the hair-cutting earlier in the year.
Winner and NEW Knockouts Champion: Roxxi
Jarrod Westerfeld: This could be the stage for Roxxi to finally get the push she was in line for after exploding big with the crowd at Sacrifice. But TNA is still big on Taylor Wilde, so I'm more than likely going to go with that choice here even after all of the hype around Roxxi and her hardcore antics.
Winner: Taylor Wilde
Andy Clark: Part of me says that Roxxi should get it here, but another part of me thinks that Wilde will retain just because. I'll go with the finish that I thought we'd see in the Kong-Kim-ODB days, with Wilde and Roxxi BOTH pinning Kong to keep her down and a debate over who the champ is. Tune into Impact to find out!
Winner: ? (Taylor Wilde and Roxxi double pin on Awesome Kong)
Owain J. Brimfield: There really should be a title change here, as Wilde functions much better as the plucky underdog challenger. Both Kong and Roxxi have been rebuilt as strong challengers, and I reckon they'll hold off on the Roxxi win to allow her to beat Kong for the strap.
Winner: KONG~!
Jeremy Thomas: I really like Taylor as a champion, but I think TNA's going with the switch here. Roxxi deserves a run with the belt and can keep the belt credible, and losing in a three-way match doesn't hurt Kong's mystique. It should be an enjoyable match that sees Roxxi finally get the belt after all the crap she's had to put up with (*Cough*HeadShaved*Cough*)
Winner: Roxxi (Pins Wilde; NEW TNA Knockout's Champion)
Dan Torkel: My complaint about the tag title match goes here but the show needs a title change. I think Kong destroys Taylor and Roxxi surprises Kong with a rollup to finally get her title win. That way all three girls can continue their feud.
Winner: And NEW TNA Knockouts Champion - Roxxi (surprise roll up on Kong)
Robert S. Leighty Jr: This should be Roxxi reward for the head shaving angle, and it will be a good moment when she wins the strap. Much like Gail winning the strap previously. It will also be a way for Kong to be protected before she decides she has to kill Roxxi.
Winner and NEW Knockouts Champion: Roxxi
Larry Csonka: Judging by the tag team match on Thursday, and again if they get the right amount of time, this has a huge chance of kicking ass. The Knockouts have been on a down turn as of late, and a title change and good match here could signal an upswing for the ladies.
Winner: Roxxi
411Mania Roundtable Consensus: Roxxi 6, Awesome Kong 1, Taylor Wilde 1, Double-Pin 1
THE RETURN OF THE STEEL ASYLUM MATCH
The X Division superstars battle inside the steel dome to try to escape
Julian Bond: The first Steel Asylum match was pretty freakin' cool, so I expect nothing less from this bout. Don't know who's exactly in it and no one X-Division wrestler besides the ones in the title bout have been featured as of late. So I'll go with the fact that Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt have some unfinished business to attend to and the very talented Dutt (who has unjustly RARELY gotten a title shot) one-ups Lethal again to win the match. In the back of my mind, I'm praying that the masked Suicide character they've been promoting doesn't debut here, cause' that'll be kind of weird.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt
Michael Weyer: Hard to totally predict without knowing the full competition but I see Dutt getting it to push his new heel style and his status in the X Division to challenge Creed. Should be a damn cool affair either way.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt
Jarrod Westerfeld: You have the same odds of guessing this right if you simply picked names out of a hat. Seriously, who is even in this and how do you pick who wins such a random bout?
Winner: Sonjay Dutt?
Andy Clark: I'm assuming our participants will be the Motor City Machine Guns, Prince Justice Brotherhood, Petey Williams, Jimmy Rave, Johnny Devine, Jay Lethal, and Sonjay Dutt. I'm also guessing the winner gets an X-Division Title shot. It could be anyone really (although giving the shot to one of the Guns or Jimmy Rave would be a bit silly) and since I picked a face to win the X-Division Title, he'll need a strong heel to go after the belt. Perhaps the "Best Wrestler Never to be X-Division Champion?"
Winner: Sonjay Dutt
Owain J. Brimfield: Big spotfests like this are always fun and a nice addition to "big" cards like this, so I expect nothing less from this. Although it's a bit odd calling it the "return" of the Steel Asylum, given that it never existed until the first Terror Dome match had long since been and gone. Ah well, it's a better name.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt through some kind of Val-based shenanigans
Jeremy Thomas: I really hate it when they don't promote who's going to be in these matches; it's really stupid and does no one any favors, including the buyrate. I can't argue with my fellow Roundtable folks here in that a heel needs to win; that for me narrows it down to Petey Williams or Sonjay Dutt. I don't think they're ready to push Petey back into the title scene and dammit, SOMETHING good has to come from the Dutt/Lethal feud. If that something is a title push for Dutt, I'm okay with it.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt
Dan Torkel: If this is X-Division guys, then I have a few ideas. 1) The Machine Guns run through the match and climb out together making themselves dual #1 Contenders 2) Curry Man wins, unmasks and we see the return of Christopher Daniels at the biggest PPV of the year. 3) Kaz returns and becomes the only winner in Steel Asylum history by winning both.
I would love to see Daniels, but I am going with Kaz.
Winner: Kaz
Robert S. Leighty Jr: Total guess here obviously as we have no clue who is really in this match. Look for insane spots, and this is probably the best place to debut the Suicide character.
Winner: Suicide
Larry Csonka: I figure that we'll see Sharky, Super Eric, Curry Man, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Petey Williams and Jimmy Rave all involved here. With Kaz hurt, I doubt that Suicide debuts, but who knows. I say Dutt wins and starts the road to finally becoming the X-Division champion, and I figure a blow off with Lethal down the line, maybe at Lockdown.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt
411Mania Roundtable Consensus: Sonjay Dutt 7, Kaz 1, Suicide (Who May Be Kaz) 1
KNOCKOUTS BIMBO BRAWL
Rhino, ODB & Rhaka Khan vs. The Beautiful People & Cute Kip
Special Referee: Traci Brooks
Julian Bond: This is basically a standard time-killing match with all good participants involved (pending Rhaka Khan, whom I'm still on the fence about wrestling skill wise). So I'll go with the good guys just for the sake of evening the heel vs. face win ratio on the card.
Winner: ODB, Rhaka Khan and Rhino
Michael Weyer: This one is pure filler all the way but should be entertaining in a car crash way. I have to admit, the faces actually make sense as a power team and that should help them crush the opposition nicely.
Winners: OBD, Rhaka and Rhino
Jarrod Westerfeld: Rhino was saved by women to avoid getting further beat upon by women. Is there a reason we should care about Rhino anymore? And after his promo, one can only assume the answer is Rhino gets to gore The Beautiful People win, lose or draw. Oh that should be fun.
Winner: OBD, Rhaka Khan and Rhino
Andy Clark: I'm sure my colleagues will all bitch about this match being added, but I'm glad it was. Sure it probably won't be that great, but the Beautiful People have been one of the most over acts in TNA and Rhino is a former champion, winning it at Bound for Glory even. I do find it funny that Kip and Rhino are in a Bimbo Brawl (well, maybe just Rhino). I really don't see any reason for the heels to go over here unless Moose Knuckles is ready to return.
Winners: Rhino, ODB, and Rhaka Khan
Owain J. Brimfield: The only bit of meh on the card really, but if Rhino gets to gore any/all of the heels it'll be worth it. No reason the ODB crew shouldn't win here. Interesting too that with Rhaka Khan now being apparently positioned as a face, where does this leave Steiner and Petey?
Winner: ODB, Rhaka Khan and Rhino
Jeremy Thomas: Cute Kip's presence in this match makes me not care. No matter how much I like the BP's, Rhino and ODB, Rhaka and Kip make me exceptionally blasé. Also: another special guest referee? Jesus. Everything in moderation, TNA. Anyway, I see no reason for the heels to win here. Rhino gores Kip to hell, and hopefully while he's down there in wrestling Hell Edge can kneecap him so he can't come back.
Winner: ODB, Rhaka and Rhino (Rhino pins Kip)
Dan Torkel: Kip beat Rhino on Impact and deserves to be GORE GORE GORED. This should not be on the biggest PPV of the year.
Winner: OBD, Rhaka Khan, Rhino (GORE on the WHORE)
Robert S. Leighty Jr: Hopefully this is short and is just there to cool down the crowd after the Asylum or Monster's Ball. Faces go over just because it's TNA's WrestleMania.
Winners: OBD, Rhaka and Rhino
Larry Csonka: I just hope that it is short.
Winner: OBD, Rhaka Khan and Rhino
411Mania Roundtable Consensus: ODB, Rhaka Khan & Rhino 9, Cute Kip & The Beautiful People 0
The Bonus Questions!
Will we get a "Fire Russo!" chant?
Julian Bond:...no...people just need to stop putting their pitchforks and fire torches up towards the man and just enjoy the PPV!
Michael Weyer: If Joe loses the belt through a screwjob, count on it.
Jarrod Westerfeld: To answer such a question one has to answer it with another question: is the sky blue? Go on, really think about that one.
Andy Clark: Probably. I'd imagine during the Bimbo Brawl as all the other gimmick matches are likely to be good. Maybe after Nash turns on Joe, but I'll stick with the match that includes Cute Kip.
Owain J. Brimfield: You know, I don't think there's really anything on the card that lends itself to that, with the possible exception of Cute Kip. I'm going with an optimistic "no".
Jeremy Thomas: In the comments section of the Official 411Mania Live Coverage (cheap plug!), without a doubt. Live at the show, probably.
Dan Torkel: Probably not. No stupid unheard of gimmick matches and some big moments seem likely. I will be in the minority and say NO.
Robert S. Leighty Jr.: Yes we will. It wouldn't be a TNA PPV without one. Even if it really isn't deserved, some smark will try to impress his friends by showing off with the chant.
Larry Csonka: Sure.
What weapon will be involved in the decision in the Monster's Ball?
Julian Bond: What Monster's Ball wouldn't be complete without the grand finale of THUMBTACKS!!!
Michael Weyer: Can't have a Monster's Ball without thumbtacks.
Jarrod Westerfeld: A better question to ask is what weapon WON'T be involved? I guess the finish could just involve some flaming tables, but I'd like to think that TNA is trying to push the envelope of gimmicky-goodness and would involve a powerbomb off a ladder on top of a scaffold through a stack of flaming glass tables, littered with thumbtacks, barbwire, with a crowbar and dead squirrel.
Andy Clark: I sure hope it's a fish. Probably thumbtacks though if I had to guess.
Owain J. Brimfield: I'd like to think TNA has learned its lesson with the past prevalence of thumbtacks, so I reckon it'll be good old-fashioned barbed wire.
Jeremy Thomas: It's hard not to go with thumbtacks. Chairs, of course...and Team 3D is there, so tables. Everything but the kitchen sink, basically.
Dan Torkel: 3D = Tables, Abyss = Thumb Tacks (which he won't used), and definitely a few chair shots.
Robert S. Leighty Jr.: Time to deliver a flaming table.
Larry Csonka: Glass Table
And now...the standings Year-to-Date!
Matt Short: 17 of 21 (80.95%)
Owain Brimfield: 15 of 20 (75.00%)
Wendell Mitchell: 5 of 7 (71.43%)

Matt's got the lead thus far, but it's still pretty close and anyone's game. One really good or really bad prediction spate could put anyone in the lead here.
And, of course, don't forget to join us Sunday night for LIVE coverage starting at 8pm! Thomas out.
Jarrod Westerfeld: "So this is a war for Christian's allegiance with Christian in the middle to decide the outcome for himself. I don't get it. If Cage wins then does that mean we get the answer as to who he aligns himself up with? If he doesn't, does that answer the question? The only answer I can see here is Cage wins, but who does he pin to win and who does he end up aligning himself with?"
Christian announced that he had no alliance with anybody......Now, I disagreed with some opinions in this column but overall it was good stuff.

Solid read folks. Good stuff from everyone except Westerfeld, whos just spewing his usual unintelligible drivel.

This really cemented how much of a tossup Sting and Samoa Joe is. I thought for sure Kurt Angle was a MUST HAVE WIN for his match against Jarrett as well.
I vote...
Samoa Joe
Kurt Angle
Christian Cage
Matt Morgan and Abyss
Consequences Creed
Roxxi
Jay Lethal
Rhino, ODB and Rhaka Kahn

Personally I hate three-way grudge matches. It's one thing if a title or a number one contendership is on the line, but when you put three people in a match for a supposed grudge, it is very nonsensical.

The Living Legend Larry Csonka only has 53%? Come on Larrold, you can do better than that? Haha. I'm just messin-I know I'd probably be 50/50 with predictions, and when u do TNA, that shit is just too unpredictable. Anyway, I usually dont read the full roundtables, but this was a good one. I live in the Chicago area and wanted to go see this live but I cant find anyone else willing to either pay or drive, so I'll just go to my buddy's and get drunk and watch my new favorite wrestler-Velvet Sky baby yea!
P.S. Hurrican Helms is the fuckin man!

Nicely done guys! Really lookin forward to it!

Many of the matches seem promising. I do think Joe wins here to get the signature victory, only to get screwed out of the title by Genesis. THEN Joe's quest to regain the belt will truly begin.
This is Chicago, they won't stand for a lot of the gimmick crap, so TNA better keep it simple for BFG!

WTF
Tna has almost every match either a triple threat, Fatal Fourway, Six man Tag, or Battle Royal. I understand they are trying to get as many stars on the PPV as possible but its overkill
second whats with all the enforcers/Special Guest Refs
I think this PPV is one big Cluster F+++

Finally the occasion for TNA to offer us a TRUE and REAL FEEL GOOD Moment with THE ICON STING murdering the ultra overrated and joke of a champ Samoa Joe To DEATH

Stink wins - Nash turn
Angle wins w/accidental bump by Mick
AJ wins triple threat after messed up teaming by Book & CC
3D finally 21 or is it 22 table shot too Abyss who freaks out!
Creed wins I think Larry is right (he's black like me)
Roxxi deserves after the bald pate for sooooo long
Shelley wins - he needs a push & cements as a leader of the new breed
Russo chants are like the wave - so passe but the fans think they are still in vogue! There just boring too me but probably liked by management!
Tables, ladders, chairs, galls, & tacks!!!!!!
I am 21 of 21 for the year (HA! HA!) who cares this is wrassling!!!!!!!! Enjoy!

personally i think aj vs sting for the tna title would be a better choice so i hope samoa joseph drops it to sting and then aj beats sting for it.aj is more of the face of tna than samoa joseph

This PPV looks terrible! TNA sux, WWE rulez doods!!!!!Every WWE PPV is gold! Vince could shit on a plate and I would eat it. Now if you'll excuse me I have to YouTubezzz Punk winning the title and jerk myself silly to it!

This is the 1 TNA PPV that I really look forward to every year! So with that here are my picks for Bound For Glory 2008!
1. Rhino, ODB, & Rhaka Khan over Billy Gunn & The Beautiful People
2. You know what? I could actually see Sonjay Dutt win this Steel Asylum match to set up a Dutt-Creed feud for the X belt at the next PPV! So Sonjay Dutt wins the Steel Asylum match!
3. Roxxi over Taylor Wilde & Awesome Kong to win the TNA Women's Knockout Championship!
4. Consequences Creed over Daivari to win the TNA X-Division championship!
5. Abyss & Matt Morgan win Monster's ball to win the TNA Tag Team Titles! Abyss turns back into the old crazy Abyss from years past I can feel it!
6. Christian Cage over AJ Styles & Booker T! I truly believe that this is where Christian turns heel and that briefcase turns out to be Christian's payoff from Booker to join him and the veterans!
7. Jeff Jarrett over Kurt Angle! I would be the most surprised guy in the whole world if Jeff Jarrett loses this match on this grand stage especially after everything he's been through in the last 2 years!
8. Samoa Joe over Sting to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship! If Joe can be the 1st guy to ever successfully defend the belt in King of The Mountain then how can he not be the 1st man to ever successfully defend the belt in the Bound For Glory main event? Bottom line I can't see Joe dropping the belt here I just can't but if he does then where do we go from there?
Should be a kick-ass show and I for 1 can't wait to see how this all turns out!

In the minority I know, but I'm pretty pumped for BFG4. Been a Sting fan for a dozen yrs or more and glad to see him get one more Showtime Main event. Im gonna predict Joe,Jarrett,Booker,Dutt,Kong,Creed,Beer Money,Team Rhino no Russo chant and Flaming table for the finish but Team 3D finds a way to lose.
