Well he's 36, and he's retired. If he had one more match it'd be with another retired guy who also says he's done (Austin). But neither guy can go the way they used to, and they don't want to piss on their legacies.

Ha, Rock with an "STFU" of his own onto John Cena.

Neeeeeeever gonna happen, Cena. Just get on with your life.

It almost comes across like Rock's too good to talk about wrestling now. God forbid if acknowledging what made you in the first fucking place causes the Hollywood elite to scoff.

PUKE.

Oh well Cena guess you can always go after Hogan next year at Mania, since Dwayne Johnson doesn't think you're worth his time.

Posted By: TWilliams (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 01:42 PM

Ha! The Dwayne layeth the smacketh downeth! Cena Sucks and so do his movies. The Rundown is the best "wrestler movie" ever

Pwn't.

It's good that Rock (or Dwayne) is pursuing what he wants to do, and doesn't feel mandated to do any kind of return angle. Rock came back to put over Goldberg, Hurricane, and Evolution back in 2003-2004, and he doesn't owe WWE anything, period.

I almost feel bad for John Cena, because Vince McMahon is so desperate for Rock to come back in any way, shape or form that he's probably telling Cena to issue challenges during his media appearances.

I wish I was The Rock.

I wish I could have good matches

I wish people didn't hate me

I wish I could make a good movie

:(

Posted By: John Cena (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 01:55 PM

First off, that's a dang good looking guy.

Secondly, Cena v. Rock would be such an over-the-top huge Wrestlemania main event. There isn't a bigger match that could be made at this point, and Rock still has a 4-5star match capabilities. Rock would likely have to be the "heel", but his promos and charisma would eventually turn the crowd in his favor. Imagine a Wreslemania faceoff prior the the match as the crowd is electric with dueling Let's go Cena/Rock chants.

I'd like to see Rock go over, but he generously jobs to everybody and their mother. Rock never had a proper farewell match and this could be it.

Imagine the booking around Rock going into the HOF, and it goes way to his head as starts playing the arrogant Hollywood role. The promos and buildup would be awesome. If Rock is promoting a movie at the same time all the better.

right now the heat just got turned on and it's starting to simmer. i hope the wwe dont fuck this up. this could turn into a huge match if done right.

Thats FUNNY .......!! LOL

Posted By: tstrike (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 01:59 PM

Wow. Watching that made me uncomfortable. Granted...it is his life, and Dwayne Johnson is free to do as he likes with it. But he has obviously been coached on how someone thinks he should act and talk to the press. This is not the same D.J. that would do interviews, even out of character, when he was wrestling.

I guess if it makes him happy, more power to him. But...wow...

the rock sold out and is an arrogant bitch and he dont cover that up anymore on camera i see.

The day cena movies make more than 20 mil opening weekend then the rock will meet him in the ring.

Wow, that's just cold.

Posted By: Freakzilla (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 02:09 PM

Hahahahaha, the best Cena could hope for at this point is for Rock to consider calling him a complete jabroni.

Dude spent a good minute talking about cabbing Jesus around, but didn't even dignify Cena's challenge.

Points to Cena for trying, though.

Yeah, because if I were The Rock I'd also want to give up making millions in movies to get back in the ring, bump like hell, maybe injure myself and put the unstoppable John Cena over....then my Hollywood career goes down the pan as I'm now a joke afterwards.

It's very funny indeed.

Posted By: MFKR78 (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 02:28 PM

In the endding, it almost sounded like Dwayne really wanted to fight John Cena, based upon the way he was laughing. That is just my opinion.

This is like Rocky V, where the young nobody desperately tries to goad the legend into a comeback to convince people of his legitimacy. Cena is just Billy Gunn with a bigger push.

Fuck you Dwayne Johnson. "Continue" to make good movies? Please. Your movies suck. Kids go watch anything Disney related. Just because Race to Bitch Mountain did good numbers doesn't mean it was a good flick. Same thing w/ the Gameplan and that shit on a stick movie Doom. Only saving grace there was Karl Urban.

Posted By: JP (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 03:25 PM

Wow, he no-sold that like he was Hogan or something.

And could it be any more obvious that Vince has his hand up Cena's ass when he makes those comments?

Hey it would be the match of the two no talent wrestlers;. with about four moves each the match would be 10 mins 3 mins of wrestling and 7 mins of standing around. Dwayne makes prolly 10 to 15 million a movie why would he ever go back to WWE.

"That's funny. He's funny."

OOF. That's what us wrestling fans would call a NO SELL. I think he sounded annoyed through that whole interview. What the hell was up with that Jesus talk?

How many people here have switched jobs? If so, shut up. How many people would take a better paid, less risky job if given the chance? If you say you wouldn't you're probably lying. The Rock did the sensible think which most wrestlers probably wished they could do. Cena's pissed because he will never have the same level of fame the Rock has either in or out of the ring.

Rock would be so freaking over that Cena would get arena-sized Hammerstein reactions as soon as the match was announced.

Finally, an honest response. I don't care that people hate Cena and love the Rock. But it fucking sickens me that you people act like The Rock was the greatest in-ring performer ever. He was mediocre at best.

World's shittiest sharpshooter, the lamest finisher ever (again, Cena would never use the 5 Knuckle Shuffle as anything more than a transition "move"), a punching style that's a direct ripoff of Scott Hall, etc. What exactly did he do in the ring was even remotely reminiscent of "wrestling"?

He was an over-the-top showman which made him a good overall performer because it overshadowed his lack of actual in-ring talent.

Same goes for Cena. I don't think he's better in any department over The Rock other than appreciating the company that brought him his fame & success. It's painfully obvious he doesn't have the same box office appeal as "DJ". But don't act like all of the sudden Rock is Bret Hart to Cena's Mabel because you're kidding yourselves! Rock vs. Cena would be like Rock vs. Hogan: 10% wrestling match and 90% spectacle.

"Maybe The Rock can come back after all and teach Cena how to actually deliver an entertaining promo.

Would he show him the promo style he ripped off from Iceman Parsons, or the catchphrases he stole from Mick Foley but passed off as his own (like "testicular fortitude?")

The IWC hatred towards Cena is so fucking irrational it's enraging. You were all fucking cheering him when he was the cool white rapper spewing dick jokes (how do you think he ended up the top dog over the past five years?) You all cheered him when he made his surprise appearance at the Rumble last year (as did the wannabe rebels at MSG). And if WWE turned him, you'd root for him all over again.

The "too cool for the room" thing is over and done with already. Think for yourselves, you fucking tards!

Its quite sad that no-one let the rock go in peace. He retired, get over it. He had his time let it go. He doesn't want to be a sad old fuck like hogan, so he gets crap. fuck

Anyone else kind of get a dickish vibe from that clip? I'm not saying The Rock's an asshole but he seemed a little arrogant there.

I do like his "That's very funny. He's [John Cena] funny" at the end. It's like he wanted so desperately to say "Wrestle John Cena? Get fucking serious."

Posted By: Zingy (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 04:54 PM

Yeah, that Rock sure is a sellout. I mean, he found out that he's talented enough to do other things besides wrestling, what a sellout. Now he can't be a pathetic has-been like Flair that can only make money by appearing in the ring.

Posted By: rock (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 04:56 PM

I don't get why half this board craps on The Rock. He retired plain and simple. It's not like he's out bashing the E, wrestling industry or the fans. He is making more money than the E "superstars" are, without having to put his body on the line. He used wrestling as a platform to build a career he paid his dues. Get off his balls and let him do his thing, and the WWE should to, most likely Cena who isn't an entertaining wrestler or actor and he's been around a few years. So why would the Rock drop to his level?

Posted By: Confused fan (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 04:57 PM

The only person who exhibited any arrogance was Cena. "I challenge The Rock for Wrestlemania!" Really? After he publicly criticized The Rock for pursuing another career he had the nerve to expect The Rock to even entertain the idea of a match?? Pathetic.

Posted By: JD (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 05:27 PM

Was it just me or did Dwayne come of as an arrogant prick here (though the response to Cena was funny)? The whole Jesus thing was just odd and out of character to me. He seemed a bit feminine there in diction and delivery too. And face it he acts as though he never wrestled in the first place.

Posted By: Guest#4971 (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 05:30 PM

"that's very funny, he's funny"

funny thing is the rock has been professional about this from day one, and we would never know if he hated cena's guts by his comments. I think this is getting under cena, mcmahon or whoever's skin FAR worse than if the rock had did one of these interviews and bashed cena. Cena is reeling but the rock just won't take the bait.

Posted By: cj (Guest)  on April 07, 2009 at 05:31 PM

You can hear a PR woman in the background saying "That's it, move it along now" (or words to that effect) when Dwayne says "That's funny"

I would summise he is fed the fuck up talking about wrestling, and his agent, PR advisor and press agent will refute any requests to discuss anything wrasslin related.

Why does no-one ask Vinny Jones when he is going to get back on a football pitch?

Hey, Ray Quinn, stop singing on X-Factor and Dancing on Ice and get back to Brookside.

Fucking hell, people are allowed to move on?

Let it go. The character the Rock is dead, done and dusted.

Actually, saying that, if Dwayne stops getting around 10 million a film and has to resort to ALL NEW THUNDER IN PARADISE then The Rock may return.

AMEN to that, that WM25 performance was crappy written all over it. Talk about a poser and unoriginal at that. All those Cena wannabes reminds me of how eminem was trying to get over with the fan based. Look at eminem now, where is he and look at who he thought he was better than, JT. JT kept it real, Dwayne Johnson keeps it real, CENA and Eminem 2nd rate performers and 3rd rate personalities!

what's with the sellout comments?
The guy made tons of money for Vince mcmahon, put over more wrestlers than just about anybody, and retired with his body intact and moved on to another line of work.

get the fuck over yourselves!

and fuck Cena, he's a Rock wannabe and that's all

Posted By: furey (Guest)  on April 08, 2009 at 01:14 AM

The Man said "I retired Quietly". He doesnt want to wrestle anymore. Hes being humble about. He isnt bashing wrestling he isnt putting it down he is saying "I dont want to return to the ring(to wrestle). WTF is wrong with you damn people. You think every guy in the business is is obligated to wrestle to they tear their body to shreds to the point they cant have a decent match anyore then you turn on them and they become acholholics and addicts and die at an early age. Have respect for these people. the rock lived his time and the spotlight and then let someone else have it and you all was fine with that til those other guys totally fucked it and bailed out or utterly failed and now suddenly you want him back. Get fucking over it. There is nowhere that says you have to wrestle til you wither away into nothingness. You people bitching have no respect for what the guys do or sacrifice - all you care about is someone is doing something on your tv to keep you "entertained". you people are sick.

Who cares whether or not The Rock stole his catchphrases? He was funny. Cena was funny, too, but he's not now. He is stale. Unlike you, some of us can change our opinions about wrestlers - because we are human, after all. When you will be human, and not just an angry troll, you'll understand.

The Rock reminds me so much of my cousin Darnelle. He miss his true calling he could have been a star in wrestling with his good looks, charisma and size at a legit 6'5" 240lbs. The only problem was that back then in the south nobody be wanting to give a black man who don't act like he a stereotype a chance and nobody done nothing to show my cousin where to go to train for a shot to make it in.

i really dont give a shit what "the rock" does with his life but this is the man that claimed once to love wrestling and that wrestling was his life..that he would never walk away from it.. but yet he left to make movies...wont do one last goin away match at WM (which he would win)
he shouldve kept his mouth shut and never said anything about wrestling was his life, maybe ppl wouldnt want him back

Fuck Rock and Fuck Cena and im a Cena mark.

This trascends any of that.

IMO, this is what people have a problem with.

Apparently "Austin took his ball and went home" whilst Rock would still be walking out with the people desntures.

He is third generation and promised in a promo that was nothing but an Austin criticism that the WWE was "HOME"

Two years later he was gone with his own ball.

To pastures new? yes.

Do i begrduge him that? No.

But don't cut a promo about the WWE being in your blood whilst looking for (and taking at the first opportunity) a meal ticket elsewhere.

For me the Rock = Sell Out

He didn't need to be, but he cut the promo that meant if he walked without a goodbye he deserved it.

Props to Cena

Rock = No Buys.

"Haha, that's funny...he's funny..."

And he just walks off...God dammit, Rocky, we wouldn't be begging you to come back if you weren't so awesome.

Seriously though...does Dwayne realize the amount of money he can make with a Rock/Cena encounter? We're talking could damn near revitalize the biz...EVERYONE would turn in for the build up and EVERYONE would buy the PPV...people wouldn't do this shit for Hogan because everyone knows Hogan doesn't job, can't work, knows his personal life inside and out...Rock is still young and can probably still go (does most of his own stunt work anyway), which makes Cena/Rock a hell of a lot more exciting sounding than Cena/Hogan.

Don't do it for the kids, don't do it for the fans...just do it for the fuckin' money and come entertain us! We need SOMETHING for fucks sake.

As has been stated on this comment section, the Rock is indeed NOT a good wrestler. But he is a tremendous PERFORMER. He entertains, and in the end isn't that why we watch wrestling? Go back and watch his "I Quit" match with Foley. It was a terrible wrestling match, but I bet 90% of viewers were very entertained and drawn in by that match. Why? Because the two "performed" at such a high level and brawled to their hearts delight. Hell, Austin was exactly a technical expert and he's referred to as the greatest WWE star of all time. People need to remember that wrestling isn't just flashy moves, impossible counters, and spotfests. In the end, it's all about be entertained...and that's what the Rock did best.

Now I'm just going to go wait for the Edmonton Oilers to say Wayne Gretzky had no talent because he won't come back to their organization.

I think he does know how much money a Cena/Rock program would make. He knows that it would make a fraction of what his next kids movie will make.

I think the hatred toward Cena here is just IWC fan boys taking cheap shots. And the problem fans have with Dwayne (STOP CALLING HIM THE ROCK) is he never officially said goodbye and thank you to the fans that supported him night in and night out. The best thing Dwayne could have done was officially announce a final match and get an epic send off at Wrestlemania. It would have made a ton of money and fans would probably be more at peace with him moving on to a film career. And I have to think that a Cena Dwayne match would sell like crazy and Vince knows that. Ans as far as Cena is concerned I guess he's supposed to not answer questions regarding the media, not Cena, trying to parallel Cena and Johnson's film careers. Cena is never the one to bring it up he just answers the questions posed to him.And for all you idiots complaining, you'd know you'd buy that match.

"Ok the rock didnt say anything any half way inslulting in that interview, and stop acting like Cena is the one asking the questions! The reporter asked rock...First AUSTIN did it the right way, he went to the hall of fame he said GOODBYE to the fans and hopes you support him in what he does..the ROCK did not he just freakin left! Didnt say goodbye nothing Just left!!! And now he thinks hes gods gift to acting! Come on...12 Rounds was a very good movie wether you like cena or not get over your selves people.

LOL@ at the emotional and irrational John Cena fans. You all sound like jilted girlfriends with PMS. I guess the Rock was just too much of an uppity Negro for your liking.
