ANNOUNCING DRAGON GATE USA
PHILADELPHIA - Japan's Dragon Gate promotion has announced its expansion into United States with Dragon Gate USA at last night's Korakuen Hall event in Tokyo. It has named Satoshi Oji as the President and Gabe Sapolsky as the Vice President of Dragon Gate USA. DGUSA will make its online home at www.DGUSA.tv as the site was launched late last night.
Dragon Gate's roots go back to Mexico in 1999. Now Dragon Gate promotes over 250 shows per year in Japan. It will increase its schedule by running live events under the Dragon Gate USA banner every other month in the United States. The first show is scheduled for Philadelphia at The Arena on July 25th. Already announced for this event are CIMA, Dragon Kid, Naruki Doi and Masato Yoshino. Tickets will go on sale on April 29th. Information will be coming soon about DGUSA's Chicago debut on Labor Day weekend.
Oji has been a long time employee of the Dragon Gate promotion and will run an office out of Houston. Sapolsky, the former booker of ROH and office worker in the original ECW, will head the Philadelphia office.
"This is a natural progression in Dragon Gate's growth," Oji said. "The entire company in Japan is looking forward to bringing our style of wrestling to the United States. The wrestlers are all very excited to make a new home in the United States."
"This is a great opportunity to bring something new, fresh and unique to the American pro wrestling scene," Sapolsky said. "DGUSA is going to be about quality over quantity. This is the haven for pro wrestling fans. Our goal is to become known as the premium brand of pro wrestling."
We encourage you to visit www.DGUSA.tv for feature articles, a roster section, a mission statement, the chance to order Dragon Gate USA merchandise and more. All the latest information about this revolutionary promotion is now at DGUSA.tv.
Wicked, awesome news about Dragon Gate. The more CIMA the better :D

GUESS WHO'S BACK!?!?!?!

Holy crap, Gabe strikes back with a vengeance. Wonder how ROH will react to this. Its not like ROH can be upset though, they are the one that got rid of Gabe in the first place.
This could get very interesting…

Dragon Gate USA + Gabe Sapolsky = all kinds of awesome!

Ha! I suspected there was a conspiracy afloat when CIMA and Sweeney simultaneously started making accusations toward ROH. I hope they just drop it now and coexist in peace. Gabe's got a job again, and fans have still more great wrestling to look forward to. That should be a good thing. So don't screw it up guys!

Wasn't this the pedophile from 60 minutes? If so, anyone have some contact info for Dragon's Gate?

Suck it ROH and Adam Pearce!

Here's hoping to a great few years of feuding between Ring of Honor and Dragon Gate USA! I'm betting we'll see something very similar to when RoH and CZW were at odds, eventually leading to a Supercard between the two. Then again, maybe DGUSA will just be out to kill RoH outright...

Wow, Dragon Gate to the US, from the headline I thought it was just another show on the west coast or something. This really is awesome news.

DGUSA? This is awesome news. ROH may be losing fans in the US, I can think of at least one...

That's one for the haters comparing ROH to ECW on account of alleged bad debts with Dragon Gate.
Y'all just been worked!
With Sapolsky in charge of the US branch I smell an inter-promotional feud brewing. But will we see it on TV?
That's the question. I may a ROH mark but this TV presentation hasn't got me sold so far. The matches just seem a little tame compared to the usual style. But time will tell.
And before you damn the federation that aint your favourite just remember, if the competition grows and improves, your favourite Fed will have to improve too. So in the end everyone benefits.
Sick of all this mine's better than yours bullshit on this and other sites. They all want your cash. That's it. If you're entertained at the end of it varies in importance depending on what show you're watching. We "Wrestling" fans just happen to get the feeling that in ROH our entertainment is very important to the company.

"The matches just seem a little tame compared to the usual style."
Did you really think you were going to DVD quality matches in one hour of TV? Really?
Posted By: Guest#7546 (Guest) on April 15, 2009 at 02:12 PM
Actually RVDOOM you're half correct.
ROH doesn't care about your entertainment, they just figure they can capture the niche that Heyman's ECW did.
WWE & TNA are entertainment companies...
ROH, the indys & now DGUSA are old school wrestling promotions that will never attain the heights of the other too without causing all you types to cry SELL OUT because the mainstream public wants entertainment over work rate.

If Gabe is so great how come WWE or TNA didn't snatch him up?
Posted By: Guest#5894 (Guest) on April 15, 2009 at 02:44 PM
Well, I wondered why Cody had the Triforce on his boots.

The matches have been fine, but the presentation sucks. The production value is cool i guess, but everything about it seems so dry. There's no storyline advancement, no in ring promos. Its just match-backstage interview-match-backstage interview-match-hogewood yells-backstage interview.

"If Gabe is so great how come WWE or TNA didn't snatch him up?"
Those companies are hardly indicators of hiring "great" people but...
First his style of booking runs completely opposite of what the WWE books.
Second, TNA is full of fucktards who will be out of business in two years anyway.

WIN
Cant wait to see more TAKAGI SHINGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

People tend to forget the facts . ROH has their talent under contracts. Silken will never allow ROH talent to work for Dragon Gate.
Also ROH & FIP run about 60 shows per year . Not many free agents will want to get on ROH's bad side by taking the 6 Dragon Gate bookings.
I bet Silken fired Gabe when he found out that his deal was in the works.
