Smackdown/ECW House Show, Cardiff UK 20/04/09
Arena was pretty full. Didn't sell out, but I couldn't see any empty seats.
Evan Bourne vs. Tyson Kidd
Good opener, Kidd looked impressive. Bourne wins with the Shooting Star Press
Finlay w/Hornswoggle vs. Mark Henry
Usual stuff from these two. Finlay wins via Shelagiah
Gail Kim, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella vs. Maryse, Natalya, Katie Lea Burchill
The crowd was quiet for this one, which was a shame, since Maryse was going all out to get a reaction from them. You'd never known Katie Lea was British from this audience. Good match, Gail Kim pinned Katie Lea via that weird boot move (not sure what it's called)
US Title Match: MVP (c) vs. Shelton Benjamin
Finally, the crowd comes alive again. Shelton was on his game tonight. Lots of stalling from Shelton early on, before targeting MVP's knee. MVP was very popular with the audience. MVP won via Playmaker
Intermission
ECW Title Match: Jack Swagger (c) vs. Christian
Christian was over huge. Tiffany, who is ridiculously hot by the way, did intros for both men. Jack worked the abs of Christian, leading to the finish. Christian went for the Killswitch, but hurt his abs, leading to Swagger reversing to a Gutwench Powerbomb for the win. Christian got a standing ovation as he left.
R-Truth vs. Vladimir Kozlov
Not a good match. R-Truth's offence (especially the punches) looked weak as hell. Vladimir won with the Choke Slam he's been using recently. R-Truth looked for a Christian reaction as he left, but didn't get it.
Main Event: Umaga(!) & Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy & The Undertaker
I thought Umaga was injured! That was a pleasant surprise. Matt got a face pop initially, but was booed once the match began. Jeff and Taker were ridiculously over, with Taker just edging it. Great match, Jeff got the win over Matt with the Swanton.
Great show overall, bit disappointed at the lack of Edge/Maria but was still awesome.
