Randy Orton Discusses His WM XXV Match, His Current Title Run, Manu, More

The Legend Killer speaks!
- The UK SUN recently interviewed Randy Orton, here are the highlights:
On His WrestleMania XXV Match with HHH: "This was a storyline where Triple H needed retribution. He needed to beat the living p*** out of me because of what I did. I handcuffed him and made him watch while I beat up his wife and then kissed her while she was unconscious. Then to top it off after I do that, I knock him out with a sledgehammer to the head. I kick his father-in-law in the skull and put him in the hospital, and do the same to his brother-in-law. I think when all that happens and then you have this match where he can't be disqualified or he loses the title, you kind of screw yourself. We were not able to do everything that the other guys were able to do. Matt and Jeff Hardy had a hardcore no-holds-barred match. They were able to use all the bells and whistles to beat the hell out of each other. Everyone was expecting Triple H and I to do the same, but we had rules that put a fence around everything we were able to do. We weren't able to go to the extreme. If anything hurt us, it was that."
On His Current Title Run: "The older and more mature I've become in the business, the more responsibility I'm able to carry in being champion and representing the company. This is going to be where I make my name and I cement myself in history. I've already done that in a lot of ways – becoming the youngest champ of all time, being in an Evolution, being a third-generation competitor, headlining WrestleMania. But I think this title run is going to be what makes Randy Orton."
On Manu: "Manu had some respect issues. There are a lot of different reasons he wasn't good for Legacy, but the reason he's not with the company anymore had a lot to do with his backstage attitude. His father was the great Afa, of the Wild Samoans, and Manu had been in the ring since his early teens. Now, in his early 20s, technically he's been in the ring for more than a decade - but not really. Really he'd only been in the business a month by the time I knew him. He carried himself like he had been in the business for 15 years. He thought he knew everything. He thought he deserved a first-class seat when we went overseas. He thought he didn't have to pick up in the lockeroom after the show was over, like the new guys do. He didn't feel like he had to pay his dues, because he'd already paid them. What he doesn't understand is that wrestling once a week for 10 years doesn't count. "
On WWE Creating New Stars: Anywhere you go in this business, there is always that need to recruit and create talent. WWE has a farm system down in Florida, FCW, where they have 50-60 guys at any given time. There are lots of second generations down there. Mike Rotunda's sons are up and comers, they will be debuting soon I'm sure. Harry Smith has been up, he's been back, he's been up – he was a potential fourth member of Legacy for a while and I can see him being part of our group in the future. We need these young guys and new guys to be tutored to one day be the top-level performers in our company – because people get old or get hurt.

Sounds like Manu took Legacy as real life

I can't believe I'm reading one of the most intelligent articles in the history of the wrestling business...and it is by Randy Orton. Welcome, Randy... You have "Evolved"

Holy crap even Randy realises the WM25 main event sucked!

even randy realized the match sucked...it had hhh in it, it had to suck

Wow. Can it really be that Orton has...Grown up?
Posted By: Lansdellicious (Registered) on May 14, 2009 at 07:40 PM
Well in this interview he hasn't owned up to his own issues. If Randy wasn't pushed so fast, I wonder is he wouldn't have been kicked out himself.

Cleaning up.

I'd like to see an eventual feud. But those of the Hart faction aren't ready yet. Plus, the WWE no longer knows how to write for stables.

I second the idea of sticking the new hart foundation in there. Legacy as three very similar guys at present, the harts would bring some variety. And it would be perfect for bring Shawn Michaels in to help Triple H, and Batista could remain in the middle of it all, not being trusted by either side.

Good answers.

It seems like Orton has grown up a lot and that's cool...you can't be immature forever. And look at the results. He's already accomplished far more then his dad ever did. I don't want to take anything away from his dad but I'm beginning to think they put the wrong Orton in the Hall Of Fame.

Maybe without the Legacy, you'd think that his character would be a good one as a lone wolf, nah!!! He is boring and dull WITH the legacy. I see the same amount of charisma from Batista that I see in Orton. They just do not make Rock and SCSA anymore do they... EPIC Failure Orton. He was IN the main event and he clearly admits the minor league type main event at WM. It isn't just HHH that failed in that matchup.

I have a real problem with a shithead like Orton who got a dishonorable discharge from the Marine Corps because he couldn't even show up. AWOL asshole. I don't really give a shit about him, or anything he's got to complain about.

Why all the HHH hate? I think he's the best character on WWE.

My thoughts exactly

"Why all the HHH hate? I think he's the best character on WWE."
This has to either be sarcasm, or the poster hasn't been watching wrestling for very long. Hopefully, anyway.

wow, randy...class act, who'da thunk it? this is the same guy that shit in a diva's purse.

I want to see Michaels-Orton for three ppv's in a row. That would put the Orton on a whole other level and ready to be able to carry HHH to a 4 star match.

I knew Manure was arrogant when he refused to change his look. (i.e. Umaga)

If wrestling once a week for ten years doesn't count, what DOES?

Picking up in the lockeroom means tidying up after Randy has shit in peoples bags, on the floor etc, hiding Mr Injury's pain pills so Bob Holly cant find them, wiping up JR's BBQ sauce and picking JBL's empty bottles of lube.

Ah, so Manu acted like Randy Orton did 5 years ago?
Posted By: KX (Guest) on May 15, 2009 at 02:23 AM
His comments about the Wrestlemania XXV make perfect sense. Especially when you consider that the 2 weeks later no DQ match on RAW was far more interesting.
Posted By: WadeMcG (Guest) on May 15, 2009 at 03:49 AM
That whole "no first-class" thing is retarded. If you're paying for the ticket and you want to sit somewhere, that's your damn right.
Posted By: His Bubbliness (Guest) on May 15, 2009 at 08:49 AM
After the interview, he went and shit in the interviewer's gym bag, just to prove he's still the Randy Orton we all know and love.
Posted By: DBB (Guest) on May 15, 2009 at 09:20 AM
Nice words from Randy Orton. I hope he has a long and illustrious career.

Maybe he purposely got himself discharged. There are other things to do in life besides learning how to kill people and fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan where the US doesn't even belong. So, he didn't want to kill people. What's wrong with that?
Posted By: Chico (Guest) on May 15, 2009 at 01:23 PM
Almost sounds like Orton has matured. Wonder if he's still a punk bitch though?
Posted By: David (Guest) on May 15, 2009 at 02:20 PM
hey, Chico maybe he shouldn't have signed a contract if he had better things to do......he's a dick anyway i wonder which one is the meat in the sandwich, randy, cody or ted?????
Posted By: hhh727 (guest) (Guest) on May 15, 2009 at 07:26 PM
I think Randy Orton has not only matured a lot, but also has come along. He's a married man, has a daughter, and is one of if not the top man in the wwe today

" That would put the Orton on a whole other level and ready to be able to carry HHH to a 4 star match."
That's so ridiculously stupid. If he can't now, Michaels can't teach him in three months.
