TNA House Show Report: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - 05.21.09

Good times...
Just got back from the TNA house show in Oklahoma City and had a great time. This is the second TNA house show I have attended, both taking place at the Coca Cola Events Center and TNA really knows how to entertain a crowd at these. The place was sold out again and it was loud as hell.
Before the event I met Earl Hebner and legend Danny Hodge which was really cool.
Jeremy Borash came out and welcomed and, as usual, began handing out backstage passes to the loudest fans.
The first match was Suicide vs. Eric Young for the X-Division Championship. I couldn't tell if it was Kaz or Daniels, but he moved like Daniels. Suicide won, but Eric Young received the most cheers from the crowd. Homicide was supposed to be in this match but wasn't at the show for some reason.
The second match was for the Knockouts Title and it was Angelina Love vs. Taylor Wilde. This was the first match I heard the heckler behind me who had a sign for every wrestler and got a lot of attention throughout the night from various wrestlers. Love won when Wilde accidentally hit Earl Hebner and Love smashed the title belt over Wilde's head. I was surprised because this was a really good match.
The next match was Sheik Abdul Bashier against Rhino. Rhino got on the mic and said because the crowd was so loud he was gonna beat the shit out of Bashier. The fans were BIG TIME into Rhino and he won with the gore in a decently long match. Before the match began, Rhino grabbed a sign the heckler made up and held it up in the ring for everyone to see.
Last time there was a comedy match and this year was no different. To my surprise the comedy match this time around was Beer Money vs. Lethal Consequences. This was the longest match on the card, but a lot of it was due to the comedy. Before the match, Roode took the mic and insulted everyone from Oklahoma before telling some girls that he won't be going home with them tonight. Then Storm took the mic and said Oklahoma wasn't so bad if you were a toothless hillbilly. He said we give rednecks a bad name. He also told a girl the concrete had a weight limit and she needed to move. He apologized and said that wasn't funny but the ground was cracking up. The match started with Storm getting his face slammed into Roode's crotch and then bitching that there was something in there. He finally reached down Roode's tights and pulled out a sock. Creed got everyone chanting "Bobby Stuffs." There was also a moment where they hung Roode from the tree of woe and then grabbed Storm's legs and crotched him on Roode's face. Of course Roode fell onto Strom in the 69 position. To my shock, Lethal Consequences won the match by pinfall when Storm accidentally spit beer in Roode's face and Roode was rolled up. After the match, it turned out Creed's grandmother was in the crowd and came into the ring to dance with her grandson.
There was a short break where Lethal, Creed and Rhino signed autographs at ringside.
After the break, it was Abyss vs. Matt Morgan. Morgan is HUGE. Abyss won with the Black Hole Slam.
The main event was Samoa Joe vs. Scott Steiner with Mick Foley as the ringside enforcer. Sting never came to house shows as a champion, so that is one area Foley as champion is better. Foley came out first and took a mic. He made comments about how cool his title belt is and mentioned that in the WWE you were never allowed to publically call it a BELT. So he talked about his new title BELT. He also mentioned his relative is a coach at the University of Oklahoma and he ate at JR's barbeque that day and that brought out Scott Steiner. Steiner said they should leave Joe in the back and he should get a chance for Foley's title instead. This brought out Joe and Steiner bailed. I saw him talking to Danny Hodge and it seemed cordial but then I realized he was letting the legend in on what was about to happen. Steiner ran in and grabbed Foley's belt and said he was keeping it. He then went out and began to insult Hodge, who decked Steiner and Foley got the belt back. The match lasted 10-15 minutes and ended when Steiner brought in a chair but Foley grabbed it. Steiner turned into Joe who grabbed him and hit the Muscle Buster for the pin. There was a funny moment in the match where a fan yelled Samoa Joe wears a Double D. When Joe pushed Steiner into the corner, he looked out and smiled and said "That was pretty funny." After the match he went out and threatened a fan. When the fan freaked out a little, Joe smiled and let the guy know he was messing around. There was also a moment early in the card where Steiner threw Joe into a rail, knocking a young child over who was standing too close. After the card, when they were doing the autograph signing, the child was the first brought into the ring for a picture with Mick Foley.
Overall it was another fun card from TNA. Their house show cards are always full of action and most matches go over 10 minutes in length with everyone able to show what they can do. I would recommend going to one anytime they come to your town.
