The book will be titled "The Queen of the Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds, and the Making of an American Legend", and be written by Jeffrey Leen of The Washington Post. Here is the promotional material for the book:
At only five foot two, Mildred Burke was an unlikely candidate for the ring. A waitress barely scraping by on Depression-era tips, she wanted more, and she saw her chance when she witnessed her first wrestling match. Even against all odds, she knew that she could become a female wrestler. What followed was a gritty, glittering testament to the golden age of wrestling, when beauty and brawn captivated the world.
- Here is a video of an interview, where Randy Orton was not happy with the line of questioning…
Orton interview - living the gimmick or just an asshole?
funny shit either way

At least the reporter didn't call Randy out on his abnormally small package... and I'm not talking about the pinning combination

Careful, bro. Randy'll get you fired.

Dude was an idiot to laugh at Ortons injury history. I gurantee Trips would have done the same. I would have loved if Orton did head butt his teeth through his skull.
Posted By: Guest#8444 (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 12:40 AM
Randy Orton thinks he's such a badass picking on a small sized reporter who was just trying to have fun. If that little, overrated, boring, monotone fag were around and tried that shit on guys that were legit tough guys in their day like Harley Race, Brody or Dick Murdoch or today Undertaker, he would be picking pieces of that worthless belt from his teeth. Someone should break his collarbone again just to teach that punk a lesson. Maybe that will draw better ratings than anything he has ever done in his life. And no I will not take it back.
There's a difference between acting in character and acting like a bully. He obviously doesn't get it.
Posted By: Guest#6233 (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 12:44 AM
Man, I still like Orton, he fucking rules.

* Blooper Gag reel*
In before someone says Cena's wrestling
Posted By: Guest#0044 (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 12:55 AM
Guest#6233 is correct. It's nice to see someone make a comment with some sense instead of the usual "OMG HE OWNZ" bullshit that's littered around here.
Orton is MEDIOCRE. Why do so many people praise him? That's the problem with wrestling... the most liked characters are so fucking average. Imagine if Fukudome were the most exciting, loved baseball player in the world... shit would be pretty boring, wouldn't it?
There's no reason to orgasm over Randy Orton being a bully to a reporter who was asking a legitimate question, whether it was kayfabe or not. Randy Orton does get injured more than the average wrestler, and why? Because he's sloppy? Because he's injury prone? Because of the wrestlers he works with? Instead of answering the question, he responds like a typical roid raging RASSLER.
All the dress codes in the world still can't give these guys class, and do you know why? Because Vince will always be Vince, and he'll always like this kind of shit, whether he's ordering Dr. D to do it or Randy Orton.
White trash, plain and simple.
Posted By: The Bay Harbor Butcher (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 12:58 AM
orton's going to make vince call his boss and get the reporter fired
Posted By: (guest) (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 01:14 AM
He's going to headbutt the guy's teeth through his skull???
Maybe then he might stomp his fingers through his hand! Or kick his shin through his leg!
You tell 'em Randy!
Posted By: extremecyco13 (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 01:20 AM
HILARITY~
That was awesome and while Orton did bully the dude, the guy had it coming. What kind of douche makes fun of a guy getting injured? Sounds like one of those reporters that makes fun of all things wrestling just cause it's cool to do right now.
Matter of fact, if this was Jericho or somebody else you dorks actually like and this was an interview in English, you wouldn't be so quick to defend that little tool.
Posted By: Lighten Up! (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 01:26 AM
Its a work.
Posted By: CM Hero (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 01:40 AM
the interviewer was actually pretty funny and Orton acted like a prick.
Orton, as a famous wrestler is supposed to represent the company and supposed to do it in a way that makes himself as well as the company look good. He did not do well to say the least. Orton should have retailiated to make sure he didnt look like a bitch but should have done it without threatening the guy. Show some class Randy....take a break from threatening tiny reporters and shitting in people's bags.
Posted By: greatest man who ever lived (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 02:04 AM
I'm pretty sure he's just staying in character there...
Posted By: Amazing Darkstone (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 02:08 AM
Ok, so, you're not exactly at the top of the evolutionary scale if you ended up buying the 12 Rounds DVD/Blu Ray... you may have been curious... we'll let that slide. Like having sex with a fat chick... you've heard stories... were curious... but, it's not something you'll brag about.
But, seriously, how much of a loser would be if you sat through all the DVD/Blu Ray EXTRAS of this movie?
Posted By: Neil (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 02:37 AM
Kind of funny, but I do wonder how that scene would've played out with an interviewer big enough to look Orton in the eye asking the same questions.
Posted By: BJC (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 02:41 AM
What a prick
Posted By: Leones (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 02:43 AM
work, but fun.
Posted By: tully (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 03:01 AM
Why Fukudome why? :(
Posted By: Guest#1729 (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 03:09 AM
Because of course, it's a fantastic idea to have a wrestler behave like that after all the roid rage stuff a couple of years ago.
I don't like Cena one bit, but christ you know that guy would've handled this a hell of a lot better and maybe rather than bully a little guy he'd of punked him out in a way that made him look better for the situation as opposed to looking like he's one step away from a piss-test. And that is one of the many reasons why Uncle Vinnie loves him ;-)
Posted By: Shoryuken (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 03:17 AM
Lol. He is such a fragile thing, a few words and he's all hurt and shit. ROFL @ Randy's fragile ass.

RKO, way to go to stay in "character".....too early?
Posted By: Brian T. (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 03:50 AM
Mexican sports news and reporters still treat wrestling like a legit sport so that interview is more than likely a work
Posted By: Ramirez (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 03:53 AM
Hey dumbasses ...
did you see the part right before the two bean eaters start talking where Orton turns to the camera and kinda just says cut with his hand motion...

Almost the same as calling him a weak little pussy.
Orton reacted the way he always has and went off at him like he has in the past when people have said stuff and he got suspended and such.
He is a asshole in real life people ain't nothing a work about that...

I can't even begin to tell you how wrong you are. I wrestled for about seven years throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana, and Orton was on the money here. If you're a heel in the ring, you're a heel outside the ring. Especially if someone pushes the wrong button like this reporter did here. I think most people's problem is that the reporter was a little guy. If he had been a bigger guy, nobody would be dogging Orton as bad. Orton did the right thing, whether the reporter was intentionally being offensive or not. He plays a loose cannon on TV every week and someone calls him fragile and calls him out for all of his injuries. If that had been John Cena doing it, he would've been attempting to punk out Cena, so Orton would've responded with agression, just like he did here, cause it was the right thing to do. Whether he was legitimately angry, or he noticed an opportunity to be uber-dick heel Orton and ran with it, he did what he should've done. I worked heel most of the time, and I would have to have my own column on here to mention all the dick-heel things I did away from a show JUST to remain in character because there were wrestling fans around. Hell, I did a show at a Wal-Mart parking lot in TN. After my match I went in to get some Tylenol and my opponent happened to come in looking for something to drink, and we crossed paths, both still in our gear, so we started "fighting" in the middle of Wal-Mart. Stop crapping on Orton for remaining in character.

Orton gets injured more than the average wrestler? Where's your proof of that? I'm pretty sure Kennedy, HHH, HBK, Taker, Edge, Austin, Flair... and the list goes on and on and on having either been completely sidelined due to injuries, or took time off to heal some nagigng injuries SEVERAL times. How many SERIOUS sidelining injuries has Orton had? And how long has been wrestling 300+ dates a year?
And funny how nowadays if an athlete, and even moreso if that athlete happens to be a pro-wrestler, anytime they show any kind of aggression some moron automatically calls it roid rage. First of all, with all the steroid-related deaths in wrestling over the years, I wouldn't be making any kind of light about steroid use. Secondly, I wouldn't be too quick to accuse Orton of steroid use since he hasn't gained very much size at all since his WWE debut. He's cut, yeah, but he isn't getting a ton bigger.
And third..... calling him white trash... where the hell did that come from?
Posted By: Trent (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 08:11 AM
Orton is a PUNK, if it wasn't for his daddy he might not even have a job in wrestling. HE one of the LUCKIEST guys on the planet and is a total asshole.
Kennedy should have at least gotten is moneys worth and actually hurt the SOB if he was going to get canned anyway.
Posted By: felix banana (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 08:12 AM
Orton handled this perfectly. He is the WWE Champion and No.1 Heel. What was he meant to say? "Oh yeah good question, I'm really fragile, I could get injured at any point" - how does that look? Perhaps Orton did go over the top, but he completely avoided having to answer AND put himself over as a complete asshole. All you faggot crybabies need to STFU, seriously, wrestlers should portray their gimmicks outside of the ring more often, it leads to better characters.

I find it unbelievably strange that people on here say things like we should be over the fact that Chris Benoit killed his wife, his son, and himself and start remembering him as a great wrestler, and start recognizing his accomplishments again after only a few short years removed from the incident......
...... but we're still going to rag on Randy Orton for shitting in someone's gear bag.
So apparently, if you're a GREAT wrestler you can kill your family and yourself, and within a few short years nobody cares anymore, and you're a great wrestler again.
But if you're just a SOLID wrestler on the verge of being great, if you shit in someone's gear bag.... you're labeled for life.

Posted By: JW (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 08:57 AM
thats why orton is the best heel, almost as good as the rock, cuz he'll be all to himself and shit but then his heel comes out wen hes angry and he'll get right in ur face
Posted By: wylung (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 08:57 AM
give it a few weeks and we are going to hear Randy got suspended for a wellness violation. Looks like roid rage to me!!
One can hope right??
Posted By: membrane (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 09:01 AM
You people need to realize that wrestling is a work, and I guarantee you that reporter thought that was hilarious. Get over yourselves.
Posted By: CJ (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 09:05 AM
Whether that was legit or worked, Randy Orton is still an annoying asshole. Crap on Cena all you want, but at least he doesn't come off as thinking he's better than anyone else. Randy seems to think his shit never stinks.
Speaking of which, I'm sure that reporter will be finding a nice surprise in his bag soon. Nasty RKOdor.
Posted By: Zingy (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 09:30 AM
rko ! what a disrespectful question. orton may have went a little overboard but what do you expect? at least the guy didnt get his head punted.

"..After my match I went in to get some Tylenol and my opponent happened to come in looking for something to drink, and we crossed paths, both still in our gear, so we started "fighting" in the middle of Wal-Mart."
Oh..my..God... hahahahahaha. Dude, you just summed up perfectly why I don't admit to anyone, except my wife, that I still watch this shit. Unbelievable.
By the way, work or not, Orton's a prick. Just in case it wasn't a work, I think it's simply a case of two wrongs not making a right. Orton could have simply said, 'alright, if you want to insult me, we'll end it here' before walking off. Simple as that, and he doesn't look like King Turd Douchebag IV.
The Wal-mart Fighter lives to fight another day!!
Posted By: Christopher Warrior (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 10:06 AM
Let's sum this up:
Orton's gimmick is being an asshole.
Kayfabe is an essential part of wrestling in Mexico.
Do the math, it ain't calculus.
Posted By: JA Toro (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 11:05 AM
I am in total agreement with Randy Orton on this one. Just another case of the media, and in this case one stupid reporter trying to poke at the industry, and Randy reacted just like anyone in the business would when asked a stupid question, by some peanut headed little punk. Randy is certainly NOT in anyway a fragile individual, and you only need to look at his work ethic to figure that out. In closing I wish Orton had headbutted the moron.
Posted By: Guest (and Orton fan) (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 11:39 AM
That's an awesome interview. Brings me back to the old school one I saw on youtube where the reporter said it was fake and the wrestler slapped the shit out of him. AWESOME. I have never been more of a fan of randy then after viewing that.
Posted By: J (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 11:59 AM
Hopefully, someone will rape Orton's corn hole with a chain saw soon. Hopefully, it will be Jeff Hardy.
Orton deserves to die, painfully and slowly.
Posted By: David (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 12:23 PM
Whether not anyone talks about Randy being fragile, the fact remains; If he's fragile, he's fragile. Don't shoot the messenger, Randy. Now, is he really fragile, or did he just get injured because it's wrestling and people get hurt? I can't tell if this is a work or not, but it's keeping with his character. He appeared on the show with the belt, as the WWE Champion, so maybe this is just a work and he's staying in character. WWE is apparently bringing back kayfabe. For fans to wonder if it's a work or not is what WWE wants us to do. But, why would he threaten a little guy like the reporter? I'm not impressed when a big guy threatens or beats up a little guy, but I think this is in character and it's all a work. I don't think Randy Orton would want to get in trouble by beating someone up. It's a work.

TELEMUNDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Posted By: The REAL MP (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 12:59 PM
Total work. There is no way in hell that a professional reporter would make a comment like that to a guy he's trying to have an interview with unless it was planned.
Furthermore, I know Randy can be an ass on occassion, but the sheer quickness in which he grabbed that guy's glasses without thinking about it at all should be evidence enough that it was planned.
Also, as others have mentioned, Mexico news reporters treat wrestling with all of its kayfabe intended. If your character is a prock, then you don't do "shoot" interviews.
Finally, on a side-note, who is the a$*clown who suggested that only little kids and gays like Randy Orton? Are you serious? Little kids despise Randy. They're too busy cheering for their hero John Cena. I can't speak for the gays, but it seems to me that most of Randy's fans are teenagers and young adults as his character appeals more to that age group (he probably would have been a bigger star in the Attitude Era).
As far as Randy being mediocre goes, when your top faces are bland, lifeless druds such as John Cena, Batista, Jeff Hardy, and Rey Mysterio, Orton looks like Flair 2.0. I don't know how anybody can accuse Orton of mediocrity while those black holes of boredom take up time on tv every week.
Posted By: jmac (Guest) on June 04, 2009 at 01:08 PM
Okay, yeah, I saw Randy make a cutting motion with his hand when he turned around.

But he had me there for a minute.

Woo-hoo.

Orton has only taken time off for injuries 4 times since his debut in 2002. The first one was his shoulder injury. The second one was because of the match with the Dudleys where 3 of the 4 people involved went down with injures, in Orton's case with a broken foot. The third time was for surgery on the same shoulder that had been injured previously. The fourth, and last time was his broken collar bone which happened when he landed wrong during the match with Triple H. Orton's having 3 injuries in the last 7 years (the second time off for his shoulder was for the same injury) does not mean he's fragile. John Cena just in the last 2 years has been injured almost as many times and let's not forget about guys like Batista and Rey Mysterio who have spent more time on the shelf than in the ring the last couple of years.

"touch me and i'll sue, isn't that a line from the worst of the rocky movies?"
Dude, that was the best Rocky fight ever. The boxing ones all sucked.

The reporter was a little goof. Orton is giving him the chance at an interview and he uses the opportunity to get a few laughs for himself. Unprofessional shithead.
Reminded me of the The Vader in Kuwait situation from years ago. Do these interviewers not prepare ahead of time as what and what not to ask a professional wrestler?
