It says he won the King of the Ring tournament in 1988 to win the WWE Title. Two wrong statements in one sentence!

Swing and a miss.

bnillab, that's why he said that....in other words Vince had 'evened the score' so Savage could be featured.
You actually thought that some guy just came up with that scenario randomly?? Jeez, some people need every little reference explained to them in detail don't they? Just a complete lack of ability to read between the lines and garner extra info without being spoon-fed like a disabled monkey.....sad.

Except that the thing with Stephanie never happened.

The WWE has an amazing opportunity right now to elevate a few face to the top spot. This would help them much more in the long run instead of just recycling the usual suspects, ie HHH, Cena, Orton, etc.
I think RAW is prime for a change, some fresh matches, a new top face (whether face or heel). They can start at a slightly underdog level, but establish themselves quickly as legitimate. Bret Hart did this. When he beat Flair for his first title run, people were stunned; nobody really thought he could remain champion. And then look what happened.
I'd even be amenable to them bringing back Shawn Michaels for a final run with the belt till SummerSlam, given that he puts over a youngin' big time at that PPV.
Let's hope WWE seizes the moment and turns Batista's (and their booking's) misfortune into a long-running opportunity.

Given Batista's injury, the way the WWE Title status was left up in the air following Triple H's return, and the 3 hour RAW next week, it would DEFINATELY make sense to do a 1 night, 8 man tourament to determine a new champion. The opening round could feature Cena/Big Show part 10 (which would go to a No Contest), Randy Orton VS Cody Rohdes or Ted DiBiase Jr. (which would be more of a Promo followed by the "finger in the chest routine" than an actual match), Triple H VS Matt Hardy (which would be "foregone conclusion match" but allow Matt Hardy to get in some offense and show if he was ready for a Main Event push), and Kofi Kingston VS MVP (which would go 20 minutes, steal the show, and allow MVP to get his win back from 2 weeks ago). The semifinals would feature Orton VS MVP (where MVP would get a lot of offense and near falls before falling to an RKO out of nowhere) and Triple H VS John Cena AND The Big Show in a Triple Threat Match because Orton complained about The Hs getting a Bye to the Finals (Trip would still go over after letting Big Show and Cena get counted out, possibly with an assist from Sledgy against Show outside the ring). The Finals, Triple H VS Randy Orton, would feature a screwy, inconclusive finish, possibly with one Referee declaring Orton the winner and another declaring Triple H the winner following a Double Pin or something. This would set up Triple H/Randy Orton to crown a new Champion at the next PPV, which appears to be the direction WWE Creative is headed in anyway.

Someone needs to grow a set of balls when the next time HHH is on the Opie & Anthony show and call in and ask about the Macho/Steph rumors.
