Various News: Umaga Not Taking Indy Dates, New Foley Book, WWE Returns to St. Paul, Minnesota, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 06.10.2009

- On September 5th, WWE will be returning to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota for the first time since 2004. Tickets will go on sale June 27th at 10AM. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- IGN.com currently has an article up called "Big Stars, Bad Gimmicks", which look at some of the embarrassing gimmicks some of the more popular wrestlers have had. Raven, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are all discussed. You can read the full article here

-Mick Foley announced on his MySpace Blog that he is working on his fourth autobiography, this one titled Crossing the Line. Grand Central Publishing, which handled Chris Jericho's first autobiography and is also handling his second one, will publish the Foley book. This will be Foley's first autobiography not published by Simon & Shuster. You can read the full blog here, but here are some highlights:

I think most of you will enjoy the new book I'm working on, "Crossing the Line", which is coming along nicely. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I will try to give out a little sample here and there - which is the case this week, as I update lists of favorite things from "Foley is Good", in a chapter I will call, "A Few of my Favorite Things". This past weekend, I was thrilled to visit Santa's Village, along with Storyland and Six Gun City in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Many of you know of my fondness for Santa"s Village from past books, so I won't get into that here. Instead, I'd like to write about Knoebel's Grove Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pa. - an incredible place I visited with two of my children a week earlier. So here it is, a sneak peek at "A Few of My Favorite Things", from "Crossing the Line" to be published in the winter/spring of 2010 by Grand Central Publishing.

One could only assume Umaga/Jamal/Ekmo will be headed back to All Japan or possibly another Japan promotion. I know he was one of the top gaijin's in AJPW if not the top guy (excuse Giant Bernard)

Wow. Horrible title.

I live fairly to Knoebel's Grove and Foley's right. It's a great amusement park with a solid ride selection for a smaller park including some world famous rollercoasters and the lines are rarely bad, especially compared to Hershey Park. (I can only imagine Six Flags/Universal/Disney)

I wouldn't bother reading his next book. It's going be whines of whoring himself out than he cares to admit. His fraud-ometer went off the charts.

Crossing the Line, how clever, not

Wow! Cactus Jacks favorite amusment parks! I can't wait to read this!
he can talk about the Nestea Plunge coaster, on that one the cars roll backwards and then smash into the ground!

Or what about the electricfied barb wire thumb tack flaming table exploding death coaster! Bang Bang!

Come on, 4 autobiographies in 10 years, who the hell cares?

Posted By: Guest#8356 (Guest)  on June 10, 2009 at 04:59 PM

Maybe Umaga is tired of the business and wants to do something else with his life. If that's the case, then more power to him.

Does Mick need to right an autobiography every three years? I guess he could talk about his jump to TNA, but given that his third book reads like a stream of consciousness rant I doubt that this one would be any better.

seeing as more then half the fools that post here acquired their "knowledge" from his first book. I think you should go out and but this one to.....marks.

No one should ever have four autobiographies

Yes Mick we get it, you are still mad at Vince for yelling at you.
Just get over it already.

Yes I will be first in line to "but" this book.

well maybe due to so many shots to the head he forget things about his life...and now he remembers

As much as I like Mick Foley and think he seems like a really nice, stand up sort of bloke. I think I've read enough of his charity or 'how he went out of his way for some youngster' stories to last me a life time!

I'm all for more books by Foley if he can avoid the depressing tone of Hardcore Diaries.

Seems Mick didn't finish writing his title: "Crossing the Line: My life as a Prostitute"

YOU-MANG-GA!

If Foley doesn't know how bad Hardcore D made him look...well, this book could be even worse. I can't believe that nobody who read Hardcore before it was release took him aside and let him know that. Now there is this book...

I kind of like the "running commentary" idea of writing books for Foley.
He is entertaining to read and he is still living the life, so I am sure there are new stories to tell.

And hell, soma is a hell of a drug - I just took 10 of them and I can't remember stuff from yesterday so maybe all the bumps and meds he's taken - he just remembers stuff and writes it down...
What did I just say?

I can't believe you people would talk about Mick so badly, have you all forgotten how great of a person Mick is? You guys are on a bashing rampage as if he did something horrible to you guys! WTF?!! Mick gave you some of the best matches you will EVER see in your life and he wants to talk about it! His experiences are fascinating, and he doesn't sugarcoat his crap either! Mick is a great guy that shows alot of love to you "fans" and you return the love by pissing on his stories? Mick didn't take his books and shove them down your throat, if you don't want to buy the book, then don't! But he surely does not need to be treated like some washed up joke that never got anywhere! For a person who threw himself around that ring like a ragdoll, beating the shit out of himself for your entertainment, and mind you, did stuff in there that only Jeff Hardy dreams of anymore, he surely deserves better than this! You people are jokes that disrespect a person that suffers from more pains than your little pansy asses could ever imagine going through for the rest of his life, and he did it FOR YOU!!! You should all be ashamed of yourselves for treating such a legend like he's nobody!! If it's anyone who has a story to tell, it's Mick, and he tells them very well! For every book he has come out with, I picked it up, and it wasn't put back down until I read the whole thing! MICK FOREVER!

Wow I can't believe the dumb comments! How can you people say Mick Foley has nothing to write about? He just left a company he's been with for 12 years. In which he became a huge star and helped take WWE/WWF to a new level. There's a story in that and probably more that we don't know about. Then he goes to TNA, which is a much much different company then WWE. There's plenty of stuff to write about in that alone. Including differences in how both companies are run and the new wrestlers he's now working with. Not to mention he will talk about new matches he's had and winning the World Championship again after not having it for almost 10 years.

There's even more matieral here then there was for Foley is Good and Hardcore Diaries IMO. So if you clowns wanna bash Foley for writing another book because he has something to write back then go right ahead. But you people who are bashing Foley for writing stories about helping people should be ashamed of yourselves. Sorry that you people are heartless and don't care about helping people. But some people get inspired by hearing postive stories and enjoy them. So complain and be stupid all you want. But guess what you will be reading Foley new book. So guess who the winner is, thats Mick Foley.

Mick's books are always fun to read. Even describing his visits to Disneyland are interesting because of his sense of humor.
I'd be interested in reading what went down with Vince, his great final angle on SD where he put Edge over and his first impression of Velvet Sky.

Ok Mick I heard your challenge you got it:

I am 40 and followed you since you broke into the business... You have been everywhere... I have read all your books (all very good)...

Here is a word of advice... Go to ROH and recharge yourself... The TNA Foley is BELOW Mick Foley standards... I hope your book really brings me back to the Mick Foley I know and love ...I understand growth (hell I grew up with you) and maturity.. I would rather that you lend all of those years of immense talent go to an organization that requires an expertise such as yours. I know you can be a bit hypersensitive about folks perception of you but I am willing to give you the benefit of doubt PROVIDED that you either: Return to the high quality Foley with know (both in wrestling and writing) or Pass that experience to someone who really needs it (ROH is a great place to start).

Go get it done... As you can see, been a registered member of Wrestling 411 for a very long time.

You can contact me at tstrike@geocities.com if you care to further discuss..

Good luck... Now do the right thing.

Best Regards...

I completely agree with Foley. Going back and reading some of these ridiculous comments, I don't blame him for being offended. It's a shame that there are so many woodheads that feel they need to spout off their negative commentary on every story. I'd be surprised if even half of them even truly believed what they posted. I'm all for differing opinions and spirited debate but, unfortunately, it seems that too many people think they need to get out their one-liner, wicked burn or wiseass comment because it's so much cooler to rip something or someone than it is to actually admit to liking it. I'm sure that the majority of the people that read the news about his new book probably were indifferent or, like me, thought "cool, I'll have to keep an eye out for a release date".

Chipping in to defend Mick Foley as well - how on earth is working for the #2 (distant #2) promotion "whoring" yourself out? He'd be whoring himself if he had stayed announcing for WWE, which he hated.

I don't like TNA, I don't particularly feel Foley is best fit for a world title holder right now, but I also bear the guy no ill will and hope he's having fun. He's been one of the most supremely entertaining wrestlers of the past generation and after giving me COUNTLESS hours of free entertainment, I feel I owe him, not the other way around. Where the hell do people get this sense of entitlement over the product? We're fans. Stop being such pissants.

Stop teasing you guys. I'm a big teddy bear, I still have nightmares about Vince yelling at me...

Okay, this has interested me. Male, age 27, married w/no kids, Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education/Library Media Specialization, and I work as a Library Media Specialist or Librarian at a school. I have limited experience with professional wrestling as an independent and have worked on shows with some "names". I have read most of Mick Foley bibliographic works and have the following opinion. In Mick's first two efforts he had a variety of situations and experience to draw from while writing his first two books. Have a Nice Day: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks for example encompassed his life from his 1964vto about 1999. Foley is Good talked about the timeframe where his career was coming to an end, which while not covering the massive time frame of the first book still had enough relevant events to warrant interest. It was at this point that his biographical efforts in my opinion began to weaken. After bearing so much of himself in his first two books Hardcore Diaries seemed forced, utilizing the gimmick of a diary to mask the lack of depth of his first two efforts. I mean after two fairly significant books about your life how much does anyone have to offer. Which leads me to my opinion about his pending release, Cross the Line. While it may be a bit interesting to read about his experience with wrestlers I have limited interaction with (having some interaction with TNA wrestlers on the independent circuit) I just don't know if there is enough there to interest me for 300-400 pages. An pertaining to his in ring efforts, I don’t feel able to accurately measure “work rate” or whatever, but the segment with the Rocky cut out a while ago was a bit rough… feel free to flame the crap out of me.

Mick, write all the books you want. Seeing all the crazy shit you have done, it’s comforting to know that your brain still works. And I say that with the most love possible. I’m a 20 year old stoner who still lives with his parents. Not in a basement, mostly because I hate clichés. I love the Coen Brothers and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I’ve been a wrestling junkie for six years but I have still seen your Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker. Bravo. While I have your attention, I want to see one classic match out of your title reign. I’m talking Edge vs. Foley at Wrestlemania or Orton vs. Foley at Backlash. I know you got it in you man.

But Mick, what do you think of the 411 Music Zone? We have "Tweeter & The Monkey Man" on CD and vinyl.

Who cares if Foley writing a a new book. He done more in Three years then most of people bashing him have done in a lifetime

Posted By: Guest#7043 (Guest)  on June 12, 2009 at 12:28 PM

How's this Fat Fuck Foley. No one cares about you anymore period. Its a small following that still does, and you've alienated the others. Your response has made you even more of a bigger jackass than you already come off as. You were an over-rated stunt monkey(yes, Ric Flair pegged your right), and that is an insult to stunt monkeys. I don't need to tell you dick about my life because I'm not the one trying to glorify my life for a few bucks. Seriously, do yourself a favor and fade off into oblivion already, because to the majority(ya, the majority are the ones giving you shit and saying you suck) you stopped being important a very long time ago. Stop trying to act so important with your ego-stroking "Oh, let's see those knocking me step up for themselves" comments. Grow up and go the fuck away.
