Complete WWE Smackdown, ECW and Superstars Taping Results (SPOILERS)
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.02.2009

Credit: Wrestlingobserver.com

* R-Truth was being filmed outside doing a gimmick described as something like the TV show Punk'd

Dark match:
* Drew McIntyre b Jimmy Wang Yang

ECW:
* Nikki Bella defeated Katie Lea Burchill. Apparently the Bellas aren't feuding after last night's show, as Brie came from under the ring to win the match for Nikki in a switch

* Shelton Benjamin defeated Yoshi Tatsu 10:00 crowd cheered both men

* Ezekiel Jackson is back, beating a local guy

* Abraham Washington show with Tommy Dreamer as guest. They each were doing comedy. Dreamer mentioned Eddie Guerrero's name to get a pop. Big pop as well. Bad Vlad came out and they did a staredown. But all for naught.

* A match to determine who faces Dreamer for the title at Night of Champions saw Christian defeat Kozlov

Superstars:
* Zach Ryder defeated Tyler Reks. Long match. Crowd crapped on it but there were people chanting "Woo Woo Woo" for Ryder

* R-Truth defeated Ricky Ortiz

Smackdown:
* Before the show starts they are airing a videotape highlight package from last night's show in Fresno so the live fans will be up to speed.

* Kane defeated Jeff Hardy

* Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison

* Melina & Eve Torres defeated Michelle McCool & Layla

* Punk did an interview and made fun of the fact Jeff is one drug test failure away from being fired

* Punk NC Khali when Kane ran in. Punk was booed like he was Buddy Rogers

* Hart Dynasty defeated Cryme Tyme

* Rey Mysterio defeated Chris Jericho to keep the IC title. Long awesome match. Edge and Ziggler attacked Mysterio after the match. Focus post-match was Mysterio vs. Ziggler so that's probaby the IC title match on the PPV. Mysterio over like Austin at his peak.

"Punk did an interview and made fun of the fact Jeff is one drug test failure away from being fired"

FINALLY!

"Shelton Benjamin defeated Yoshi Tatsu 10:00"

That alone makes it better than Raw.

I was there at the tapings.
Punk is nearing his 2003 Indy period in terms of heel heat. Its amazing how he gets the crowd to hate him just by smiling. When he made the comment about Jeff the crowd especially the girls really despised him. I can't wait til they pull the trigger and let him rip on the fans.

Hart Dynasty also got a decent heel reaction as well and the Ziggler/Morrison match was pretty good although I hope this isn't a step down for him.

Posted By: Lucas (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 01:38 AM

Oh look. Benjamin beat Yoshi Tatsu. The Harts beat Cryme Tyme.

Is there anything else all of the fussy IWC people cried about that wasn't fixed in this taping? I just want to make sure if all of the pouting is over or not.

Posted By: Ron Mexico (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 01:39 AM

Whoa, whoa! The Hart Dynasty defeated Cryme Tyme in the main event. Okay....where's the real main event boys?

Posted By: Dwayne (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 01:44 AM

Oooh, this Smackdown looks about as good as Nick Nolte after he traveled through time to hang out with Buckowski.

Gotta push that young wippersnapper Kane! He has quite a future ahead of him!

"Punk did an interview and made fun of the fact that Jeff is one drug test failure away from being fired"

HELL TO THE YES!

Now THOSE are my kind of spoilers

Posted By: Erik (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 01:56 AM

Man, I knew Dolph Ziggler was getting a push, but for him to beat John Morrison is a real good sign that the office is behind him right now.

"R-Truth was being filmed outside doing a gimmick described as something like the TV show Punk'd"

You just been Truth'ed!!

Why, oh why, did Kane have to come back? Throat thrust, big boot, corner clothesline, corner clothesline, side-walk slam, goozle, chokeslam.

I think he belongs on ECW.. or Raw now that I think about it.

* Punk did an interview and made fun of the fact Jeff is one drug test failure away from being fired

could this be the return of straightedge punk? god i hope so.

THIS IS REAL
THIS! IS! STRAIGHTEDGE!

Ezekiel is killing jobbers now? He needs actual ring time to develop.

Is Kane getting his occasional monster push, or are the just squashing smaller wrestlers?

I don't understand the Ziggler-Morrison match, but I guess Morrison is next on the ladder if they don't want R-Truth to lose. Sadly Haas would actually be a step down and Rey is too high up.
Still, I would like to see a Misterio-Morrison program even with the face-face dynamic.

The downside of a week of double tapings and Jericho-Edge on RAW is that the aren't on Smackdown. It isn't like RAW needs the ratings boost.

SHow was probabaly taped out of order. My guess is Punk vs Khali will be the ME.

Posted By: Lonestarr022 (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 03:01 AM

Wrestling observer spoilers have this as the main event:
"Rey Mysterio b Chris Jericho to keep the IC title. Long awesome match. Edge and Ziggler attacked Mysterio after the match. Focus post-match was Mysterio vs. Ziggler so that's probaby the IC title match on the PPV. Mysterio over like Austin at his peak."

Seems they're really behind Dolph.

poor Kozlov. Gone from a badass to a pussy.

Posted By: Guest#7858 (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 03:14 AM

Dolph Ziggler - your next IC champ.

Rey doesn't need that belt anyway.

There you go Ron, that's your answer.

Firstly, Benjamin wins and Morrison loses in the same week: how that possible?

Secondly, I'm really glad that they are behind Dolph - he's a prime example of what Smackdown (and ECW) excels in, and Raw sucks at - building new stars.
Be honest, if he had stayed on Raw after the draft, he would have been future endeavoured by now, instead of having a pinfall win over Khali.

One of the Bellas over Katie Lea. Very disappointing.

Since Hawkins did not wrestle I will not watch!

Posted By: Guest#1361 (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 04:16 AM

Dolph v Rey, eh? I guess this will make or break Ziggler. He's been damn entertaining of late so let's hope this turns to gold...Oh, how exactly did Kane beat Jeff?

Posted By: Guest#7070 (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 04:32 AM

The Bellas over Katie Lea??? Yuck!! Can't those talentless ugly twins get released already???

Posted By: Sandro (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 04:32 AM

Rey has really improved since that chamber showing 09 has been his year

Posted By: IanR (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 05:12 AM

Morrison has been on an awesome run so nothing wrong in him getting a loss at the hands of the impressive Ziggler, an IC title fued with Rey is perfect for Ziggler right now.

Also cant wait to see Punks promo, hes getting more heel heat every week & his title reign is already been booked then the whole of his last one.

Cant wait for the next 2 weeks of smackdown.

YAYYYYYYY thet are playing the drugs card!!!

Posted By: Liron (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 07:26 AM

Kane beat Hardy?
Push the returning mid-card guy over the top guy on the show?

Posted By: Elliot (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 08:07 AM

"Mysterio over like Austin at his peak."

Really? Where was the event? WWE may give Rey a world title push if he's over like Austin.

"Punk did an interview and made fun of the fact Jeff is one drug test failure away from being fired."

LOL, and Jeff is being pushed to the moon but WWE fired Umaga for his 2nd offence.

A match to determine who faces Dreamer for the title at Night of Champions saw Christian defeat Kozlov

Hopefully their holding off the Kozlov push until he's ready. Have Christian regain his title so Christian can get the best match out of Vlady.

Posted By: Guest#3670 (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 08:12 AM

Dolph Ziggler defeated John Morrison

Really? Morrison can beat the World Champion but can't beat Ziggler! Hopefully this is setting up Mysterio/Ziggler/Morrison for NoC.

Posted By: Guest#9810 (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 08:14 AM

Why are they jobbing Morrison? A few weeks ago it looked like they were building him up for a program with Edge (which would have been awesome). McManagement strikes again.

Posted By: Guest#7393 (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 08:32 AM

vince gets involved and smsckdown goes down the toilet. Now I'm glad I don't get mynetwork tv!

Morrison losing to ziggler?
Jeff losing to kane?
Jericho losing another match? Who has he pinned lately? Edge gets the pin in all the tag matches...guess who gets pin when they drop the titles...Jericho!
The hart dynasty is overrated, correction D.H Smith is over rated!
And what the hell is a "talk show" doing on ecw...it's like vince is trying to put both smackdown and ecw on par with raw!

Eh. At least everything's STILL better than TNA

I was there at the tapings as well last night, and Punk's promo was BETTER than what is being reported. Here's the gist of it (Jeff is at the announce table for Punk's match):

"Are you happy Jeff? You come out earlier wearing an eye patch mocking me? I could have been seriously injured because of you! You see this right here? This is Dyhydroxy Sulfate -- I have to put it in my eye three times a day. It's the only foreign substance I'll allow in my body. Now Jeff, I know you know a lot about prescription medication but, see, to get this legally you have to get it from a doctor.

Jeff, you have 2 strikes, do you know how many I have? ZERO. Do you know how many times I've been suspended Jeff? ZERO. Do you know how many times I've been to a rehab facility in my life? ZERO. Do you know what your chances are for beating me at Night of Champions Jeff? ZERO"

I was marking out like crazy, Punk was in the zone. It's a great, great promo. Could someone else who was at the show let me know if you agree with my representation of what Punk said?

Posted By: KEdge2k (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 09:39 AM

Oh, also, one other thing I forgot. Jeff Hardy came out at the top of the show wearing an eyepatch, mocking Punk's injury. At one point during his promo, Punk said to Jeff: "Jeff, you want to imitate me by wearing an eye patch and mocking me. If you want to really be like me, maybe you should start living a clean lifestyle, a straight edge lifestyle."

It was an AWESOME promo.

Smackdown just keeps on rolling. I gotta find a way to watch these shows Friday night. I guess it's on early enough that I can watch Smackdown from 6-8 my time and then still go out.

I am so pumped for anything Rey/Jericho/Edge/Ziggler/Morrison/Jeff/Punk related...

Posted By: Brendan (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 09:56 AM

Break on through to the other side Punk!
Not the dark side but Heeldom!

It's 2009. Wins and losses haven't meant anything for fifteen years.

Morrison VS Ziggler VS Mysterio for the IC title at NOC. Drop Mysterio from the feud afterwards and have Morrison and Ziggler fight over the belt for the next few months. The rest writes itself.

Posted By: Yay (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 11:46 AM

WWE needs a heel commentator badly ... someone who can put over Punk as a honorable and respectable champion, Y2J as a savior of the lost souls of the WWE universe. They could be humorous and over the top and appeal the older smark or aging Bobby Heenan/Jesse Ventura fan.

Posted By: ForRealz (Guest)  on July 02, 2009 at 11:54 AM

I've been completely on board with Punk's sloooooooow turn and am glad to see it finally come to fruition. And more Jericho/Mysterio goodness makes me happy.

Buuuuuuuutttt...Kane goes over Mysterio and now Hardy? What the fuck, McMahon?!

Other than that this looks far stronger than this week's show. Can't wait.

Yeah no more tools you being around to cry about the IWC that would be nice considering how much you embarass yourselves.

Loooks like decent ECW & Smackdown for next week. I wonder if Raw can build on their not as bad as previous weeks show and make it a watchable week of WWE. Looking forward to seeing Punk continue his journey to the dark side

fucking A! Smackdown and ECW are fucking destroying RAW!

Was the Washington segment better?I thought he did well 1st time with the lack of material/purpose he had to work with but it could get old real quick.Maybe if he had Tony Atlas as his Ed McMahon style sidekick that would make it awesome

This just in....LOSING IS NOT JOBBING!!!! Jobbing would be him CONSISTENTLY losing!! Sometimes people lose...it is NOT a burial!! it is NOT jobbing! Get the fuck over it!
