Torrie Wilson Discusses The Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal, Being Done With Wrestling, Kissing Vince McMahon, More

Torrie speaks!
- Torrie Wilson recently took part in a Q&A with The Baltimore Sun, here are the highlights:
On The Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal: I'm very mad at myself and embarrassed that I agreed to be a part of something like that. A lot of people in the audience didn't even know that I was in that match because they didn't even announce it. For me, that whole experience at WrestleMania was kind of like closure. I feel like maybe I'm not appreciated like I would have hoped. They just wanted all these girls there. Now I can understand why Trish [Stratus] decided not to do it; she was smart. Going into it I trusted them that they would use me in the right way and I should have known better. All in all, I learned a valuable lesson.
On Being Done With Wrestling: I do. I just didn't appreciate that experience and I felt very unappreciated after all of the years that I put in for them. You combine that with the fact that I asked them to do a little thing on wwe.com to "vote for Torrie" and they just ignored me. So, my feelings are hurt.
On The Toughest Part Of "I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here": I think the toughest part about being there was that some of the personalities were clashing, so it was difficult at times to get along with everybody. And, of course, the eating was really difficult. The hardest challenge – there was one where we stuck our head in something [a glass case filled with snakes]. I was really glad I didn't get the tarantulas.
On What Was Worse: Kissing Vince McMahon Or Having A Snake Slither Across Her Face: Oh, making out with Vince, for sure [laughs]. I'll take the snake any day.
What exactly was under appreciated? She was there to look hot, nothing more. Stratus could at least wrestle and carried the women's division.
If you want respect, earn it! Don't expect it to come to you cause you were born pretty.

I know it's a typo but "A Shane slither across her face". hmmm....

lol she's awsome. Sounds like a cool girl. But torrie was right. They never used her right.

Man torrie is awsome. She is right. They never used her right. Except for her big run in 2003. But even then. They used her in stupid storylines like with her fake dad. And a lesbian angle with dawn marie. I still miss her though.

Trish is so smart to not do the Diva Battle Royal
You talk about the diva's being smart and sexy. Trish Stratus is the only one

Well, she's spot on about WrestleMania.
Anybody seen the DVD? How do they handle cutting out the Kid Rock bullshit? Does the match just suddenly start?

You know, she can cry about underappreciation all she wants, and I normally love to bash WWE, but get over it!
She would not even be a D List celebrity (which qualified her for a D List show) without WWE.
Go to sleep on your pile of money. That will make you feel better.
Posted By: Guest#5912 (Guest) on July 02, 2009 at 06:56 PM
She's got a point concerning the Miss Wrestlemania thing. Cut Kid Rock, give the older Diva's their own entrances, then let the current crop file in. Then, do some fucking stuff with the likes of Sunny, Molly etc. so we know they're there.
I'm not saying they should have won it, but at least acknowledge they were there and do something cool with them.
Stupid Vince!!

Trish Stratus is a Canadian Goddess. But Torrie Wilson was there for years and she never got a damn thing from them!
Posted By: Guest#0294 (Guest) on July 02, 2009 at 07:21 PM
All due respect, Torrie was never as good as Trish, but the woman literally broke her back trying to perform for us. Not to mention she was plenty hot in a bikini. WWE could have did more to promote her/move her into more of a valet position once her injuries kicked in.
Or maybe WWE will be more satisfied when some girl dies in the ring due to not being fully aware.
Posted By: Billy Kidman (Guest) on July 02, 2009 at 07:51 PM
She has a point with some of the stuff.
But she wasn't very good as a WWE Diva. She didn't do much for the wrestlers she was attached to in story lines, unlike Trish, Lita, or Stacy (Torry could not have made the Testicles work). In fact, Tajiri did more to get Torrie over than vice versa.
Posted By: Guest#0651 (Guest) on July 02, 2009 at 08:29 PM
What's there to get over? The guy asked her how she felt and she gave an honest answer.
And she's absolutely right, at least with regard to the Mania thing. I was never that big a fan of hers, but the fact is that Torrie was one of the more significant divas over they had, whether she could work or not. She deserved better.
Posted By: AJP (Guest) on July 02, 2009 at 08:29 PM
Torrie was absolutely worthless from day one. She was with the company for years and never improved at all. Plastic Barbies are not that attractive. She needs to thank God that the WWE kept her around for as long as they did.
Trish Stratus is a legend. Torrie is nothing and wouldn't have deserved an intro at 'Mania anyway.

Yep. It goes MitB, clips from the fan festival and then it immediately cuts to the woman slapping each other in the ring.

Whoever gave a crap about the WWE Womens Division anyways? It's a waste of airtime and the matches SUCK! Trish Stratus was the only decent thing that ever came out of it. ECW had better womens matches when they would get in fights and they would roll around the ring with their thongs showing! And Joey Styles would screech CCCCCCAAAAAAATTTTT FFFFFFFIIGHHTT!!!!!!

Posted By: Empire Of Ownage (Guest) on July 02, 2009 at 10:26 PM
Something tells me the whole thing would have been handled very differently had Trish Stratus agreed to be part of it. They would have never just thrown her out there like that without any fanfare.
That said, they still should have handled it better.

I totally agree. She was asked a question and answered it honestly, geez. It's not like she revealed her evil plans of shitting in Vince's cereal and slitting Stephanie's throat.

I believe it should be "Know your role", at least if you want to be more electrifying.
Posted By: Guest#1317 (Guest) on July 02, 2009 at 11:39 PM
WWE never really appreciates their women talents aside from their signature token persona aka it girl that traverses over the years from person to person. The fact that its taken this long for people to figure that out, look what happened to Lita when she was finished. Divas will never be respected in WWE under the current administration.
Posted By: Captain Obvious (Guest) on July 02, 2009 at 11:54 PM
Torrie actually started in WCW and was only useful when she first started as David Flairs girlfriend and they never used her for much else. In wwe you don't get much respect for the women no matter how delusional some on here have been about it.

So you think that once Barack is out, the women will get respect?
I think that they looked at the damage Lita caused. I think they kept with her even as her wrestling got sloppier and sloppier - becoming a danger to herself and others.
Plus, she was very over as a face, but disposable and replaceable as a heel. Vince loves his moneymakers who leave on good terms. I bet Jeff Hardy is none too thrilled with Lita and given a choice as to who to be on good terms with, Jeff was the one. Matt may be a company man, but remember that Jeff just recently re-signed with the 'E.

Torrie is spot on, they wasted a great opportunity at Wrestlemania, should of given them each their own entrances.

I agree that she had a right to answer however she wanted, but in what way was she one of the more significant Divas? She never got any wrestler over and was no more over than any other Diva. Did Billy Gunn get over as a singles competitor with her? How about Carlito? Those Dawn Marie and Sable stories got a lot of air time, but how well did those go? She helped nobody get over, even as Lita helped raise Matt Hardy's stature and Trish fueled the hot Christian-Jericho feud.
Look at Wikipedia and they say that she became a fan favorite with Tajiri - he made her more popular, the opposite of her purpose.

For someone who was supposedly only eye candy, they sure asked her to beat up her body a lot. Yay for sexism.
Posted By: Davo (Guest) on July 03, 2009 at 03:17 AM
To be fair the returning divas not getting entrances was a joke.
Posted By: jbardo (Guest) on July 03, 2009 at 06:46 AM
No matter who was in that battle royal, I think that cutting out the lame and overextended Kid Rock peformance (which everyone can at least agree on that) and at least give all the divas even a quick intro would have been nice. Or at least give the old divas their own entrances and then the brands their entrances.

Stick her in a magazine where she can show her vagina to the world. Don't want to burst your bubble Torrie, but your job in the WWE, much like what your job should be now, is to make teenage boys and guys who live in their mom's basement (like me)blow their man-juice all over their blankets or pillows.
Quit crying about how your feelings were hurt, staple your mouth shut, and go flash your boobies again. Didn't it occur to you that they didn't take you up on your 'vote for Torrie' idea because it was completely stupid. Self-absorbed whiny cuntbag douche.
Posted By: Guest#1131 (Guest) on July 03, 2009 at 11:06 AM
Does she feel unappreciated by TNA for not making any efforts we know about to sign her?
Posted By: guest (Guest) on July 03, 2009 at 11:58 AM
The divas aren't there to entertain us with wrestling, they're there just to be pretty. And since that is the only thing they contribute, they don't really matter much and you can get any pretty girl to fill the role, and there are plenty of pretty women around.
I'd personally like some more variety. They are all blonde bimbos now. How about a brunette, maybe a redhead? Let's get a nice variety of hair colors, heights, and even races. They'd still be worthless, but at least they'd be more fun to look at.
Posted By: Guest#3265 (Guest) on July 03, 2009 at 01:27 PM
I watched WM25 and did not want individual entrances. Seriously, would any of you wanted to sit through 20-25 individual entrance themes for women? I wish the WWE would distinguish between Divas and true womens wreslers.
And Trish...not that great, with a spot based, unbelievable offense and moves that took years to set up. Molly and Victoria are the only good things to come out of the division.

To help Torrie get over her hurt feelings I cordially invite her to my Divas Battle Royal at Rapeslemania next year, live from my basement/dungeon.
I swear Trish has said yes to this event Torrie! You should show up too! You can even bring that stupid dog if you want to!

All of you need to stop lying to yourselves. Have you ever really enjoyed a Torrie Wilson ***** classic? She was just there to look pretty and act in bad lesbian skits...everyone wants to act like they care about female wrestling.

I meant that more in terms of overness and overall visibility than anything. Again, she wasn't Hall of Fame bound or anything but for a time she was right up there with Trish as being a face of the WWE Divas. There were plenty of women on the roster at the time that I cared about more than Torrie, but compare her to women like Molly, Nidia, and even women like Dawn and Victoria and I think she's more likely to be remembered. She was very popular and that alone--especially within the context of a nostalgia battle royal--needs to be respected.
As far as a breakdown of her accomplishments, again, I don't think you can really knock her there. The Sable/Dawn programs were two of the most horrible programs I can remember, but at the same time--though I wish I could find some numbers to back this up--I seem to remember a lot of those segments doing good ratings. As for helping others get over, the majority of her programs were self-contained and she was barely used as a valet outside of the Tajiri pairing and a couple of lazy pairings thereafter. WWE never really made a serious attempt to try and transfer her popularity to anyone else, and she didn't really want to wrestle despite essentially being made to; that's--by definition--misuse.

She's got a point. While she was never great in the ring, she was over as hell and connected with the crowds. I mean Maryse is hot too, but she gets hardly reaction aside from when she does that hair flip.
With the exception of Trish and Lita who are the biggest Divas of the decade, Vince sees the other women as disposable. Believe me, in 5 years time when Maryse is knocking 30, he'll push her aside for the next hot piece of ass.
