Edge Injured At House Show Last Night
Posted by Ashish on 07.04.2009

Edge was injured at the WWE Smackdown/ECW house show last night in San Diego. The injury is said to be to his ankle and the early word is that it is somewhat serious. The injury was suffered after Edge landed badly on his ankle. He has been working banged up lately but no word on if that contributed to the injury.

Torn Achilles, per the observer.

Terrible, terrible thing to happen to the WWE.

That was coming.

Damn this sucks. WWE just lost my interest for the next couple of months. Now what? So much for Jericho/Edge. Get well soon Rated R superstar.

I was actually thinking Jericho would be injured when you figure

Sunday night he had 2 matches, 1 of which was full throttle and great
Monday night he had AT LEAST 1 match [dont know if he had a tag match taped for this mondays raw or not)
Tuesday night he had a 15 minute tag match and then another IC title match vs Rey

thats A LOT for a guy Jerichos age... I hope Edge is not injured though as SD already lost one of the SD 6 in Shelton... we dont need to be down to a SD 4 with Rey, Jericho, Punk and Morrison

2009 :

Batista , Matt Hardy , Kennedy , Rey Mysterio , Undertaker .

Dreamer & Y2J Banged up as well , working with niggles . And now Edge .

Conclusion : Top WWE Stars need more rest and fewer house shows .
PPV - every month , 4 Weekly shows + numerous house shows = Injury waiting to happen .

BTW , If Edge cannot return till
January : I Have a few ideas -

1 -New SD GM , After Vince fires Long [ a la KURT Angle in a wheelchair ]

2 - JR + Edge - SD Commentary .
Grisham back to ECW .

3 - Keep him away from from TV , And let him return @ ROYAL RUMBLE .

Option 3 is most likely , though i prefer option 2 .

Damn, two injuries in one night. Might be time to Kennedy Edge if he's so easily hurt. First his achillies tendon, now his ankle. Damn.

Its sad that the WWF doesn't let their best talent get a night off.

Well, hopefully rated-y2j will continue like when Matt Hardy and MVP were injured during their Tag title reign.

speedy recovery to you mr copeland

I'm no mark for TNA but I can see why stars want to go there. Stay in one place and limited house shows. It seems to me that most injuries occur at house shows.

Great. Another top guy injured.

Your NEW WWE tag team champions, Chris Jericho and CHRISTIAN!

He did it performing a shooting star press. Somehow I'm not surprised he got hurt but the simple fact that he DID a shooting star press was insanely cool and totally unexpected.

But Edge, much like Batista, wont get the Kennedy and candice treatment. Not that I dont blame WWE.

We would like to wish Edge's achilles tendon the best in its future endevours

kurt angle should apply the ankle lock on him and he'll be alright

Posted By: Guest#8647 (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 03:13 PM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Not Edge, I swear wrestling companies must be idiots making their guys over work themselves like that. That's why even the most passionate about wrestling get tired of it.

Posted By: Christian (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 03:20 PM

The 4th of July weekend is notorious for injuries to wrestlers. It has been occurring since wrestling has been televised. The industry should look into ways of making it safer for the boys during this three day weekend. Edge was getting ready for the next level too.

EDGE wrestled FIVE times in TWO Nights = RAW Tapings X 2 + SD Tapings X 2 + Superstars Of Wrestling Main Event

Any normal human being's body can't take so much punishment at all...

He was already banged up with nagging injuries, this ankle thing is not a surprise the slighest....

Hell it's a blessing in disguise for him, now he will be able to rest at home and take the proper time to heal his many injuries and this one like HBK, Taker and Mattitude are right now.

It's also a blessing in disguise for him becaues he is character was kinda stale at the moment and he badly needs a fresh come back as a full FACE.

I wish him a speed recovery and to come back as better as ever.

He was on fire and wrestling beautifully the past weeks.

Hell he is the wwe mvp when it comes to both promos and in ring work in 2009.

I thought it was his Achilles...?

Fuck that sucks

Get well soon Edge

Posted By: lilwayne1 (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 03:55 PM

And this is what happens when you force your wrestlers to wrestle injured. I guesse Vince will never learn or just doesn't care. It's a shame, a few weeks of true rest would have prevented this!

Posted By: Mag (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 04:12 PM

Just like he was the very first undisputed champion, Jericho can be the first man to hold all 4 tag team titles by himself!

Posted By: Ted Bundy (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 04:22 PM

I could sense this coming...God forbid they rest talent for one fucking week here & there. Y2J or Punk will be next with this 2 matches a night B.S. they have been doing at the tapings lately. Hope Edge gets some much deserved rest...with such a huge roster , why not give some undercard guys a chance?

Posted By: D. (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 04:33 PM

That's WWE for you. Work the hell out of their "superstars"

Posted By: Guest#0302 (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 04:39 PM

I fully agree with you on 2 of those suggestions, Lexie... kinda iffy on the 3rd.

I want to see Edge on TV... he's the strongest personality in WWE at the moment and the most fun to watch.

Even if they just limit him to doing Cutting Edge segments... hey Piper got away with just doing Piper's Pit segments in the 80s without having to wrestle on TV and he still managed to build amazing heat. If anyone can do it today, it's Edge.

you jackasses always blame wwe for everyhting. give me a break.

an achilles tear is a freak injury and has zero to do with edge working banged up.

wwe even put edge in a tag team so he could work less and wwe did give the guy time off here and there.

in 2008, he got a 4 month sabbatical.

this fake shit is not ballet and injuries happen.

vince is a BUSINESS MAN and he does not need advice from the iwc maggots on how to run his company

Posted By: Guest#5624 (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 06:06 PM

I think Jericho and Edge will still stay as tag champs til WWE decides what to do with Jericho. Or keep the belts on them forever.

Oh, no.

Posted By: Dwayne (Guest)  on July 04, 2009 at 09:12 PM

So does that mean he's turn face? He's always bitter because everything in life is his achilles heel, but now that he tore it, well he lost his bitterness.

No it wasn't. He just stepped on it wrong.

Go outside once in a while!

Posted By: C'mon now........ (Guest)  on July 05, 2009 at 02:23 PM

Yeah, that's why he's wrestling LIVE on RAW and WWE.com hasn't reported the injury. WWE covers all of their severe injuries.
