The injury Edge suffered at last night's Smackdown house show in San Diego is a torn Achilles heel tendon. Depending on the severity of the injury, he could be out for the rest of the year.

Yeah, there are those stupid Kennedy and Batista comments, but Edge actually got it done in and out of the ring. He actually completed story lines and feuds. I hope this doesn't hurt Smackdown's ratings and prompt the WWE to do something drastic.
They need to be careful with Jericho too. Having injured guys wrestle just increases the chances of something drastic happening. This sounds like a freak thing, but when bodies get worn down, freak injuries increase too.

I'm not sure what the achilles heel tendon is, but usually in sports when someone tears their achilles it takes them a year to come back, and then about another year or so until they're back to full. I wonder if it's the same tendon or if they are different ones?
If it's the major one, this might pretty much be it for Edge as we know him. That's an awful long time on the shelf, and WWE might claim they don't think he can really wrestle again.

kennedy was released because mcmahon wanted him gone and not the injury prone crap.

The 4th of July weekend is notorious for injuries to wrestlers. It has been occurring since wrestling has been televised. The industry should look into ways of making it safer for the boys during this three day weekend. Edge was getting ready for the next level too.

That is a major blow. They will probably find some way for Edge to pop up in non wrestling roles. I don't think they should claim it happened in his last TV match as that would be dumb. If they don't want to admit house shows happen then they should just call it a motorcycle accident or something.
Regardless how they explain it they should take the opportunity to have a tag team tournament with the final at night of champions. Best way of building some interest in what will now be a much lower profile match.
Presuming Jericho goes back to singles it will just be a 2 round thing anyway. Colons vs Legacy and Cryme Tyme vs Dynasty.

If he's out for that long, have him become the RAW General Manager. If they want an easy way too have the titles taken off Edge & Jericho either have a Tournament, Tag Team Turmoil at N.O.C. or have Jericho defend against Rhodes & DiBiase in a Handicap Match

That's a huge loss. I like that he and Jericho were teaming, which means that eventually they would have feuded, which would have meant quality promos and ring work.

This injury is a work. Edge is actually taking time off to star as Mr. Ed in the long-awaited big screen adaptation of everyone's favorite talking-horse show, "Mr. Ed." He certainly has the teeth for it.
