WWE News: DX Book News, Best Of Smackdown DVD Cover, Batista DVD Release Date, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.20.2009

- Along with Aaron Williams, author credit has been given to both Shawn Michaels and HHH on the upcoming Unauthorized History of DX book.

- The Batista DVD set, titled Batista Unleashed, will be released on October 13th. The DVD title is the same name as his autobiography.

- The cover of the WWE Best of Smackdown 3-DVD set, which gets released on September 15th, will feature The Undertaker, Eddie Guerrero, The Rock, Rey Mysterio, Batista, Edge and Jeff Hardy.

- "WWE Thumb Toys" are the current children's toy being given away at Checkers.

- Former WWE diva Lauren Jones is featured in the latest edition of Oprah Magazine.

- In the Muscle Flex press release, discussing their trademark issues with WWE regarding the "Raw" name, the one product they didn't discuss is "RAW Attitude". That is the WWE RAW branded energy drink by Socko, which would be a direct competitor to their merchandise.

I am really interested in how many copies a Batista DVD will sell. I really don't see him being a guy that can move DVD merch.... maybe I'm wrong....

Batista DVD set? Disc 1 will feature his best matches, Disc 2 will show all his injuries to date and Disc 3 will have film from his operations!

Wow, for a split second I thought the title said "Batista Release Date". Wishful thinking? You decide.

Posted By: Lycan (Guest)  on July 20, 2009 at 05:53 PM

I'm guessing the Batista DVD may move as many units as the Edge DVD.

Last December, here in Philly, Shawn Michaels made an appearance to sign autographs & there were a lot of fans there. They had to bring out fire marshals & everything.

I asked somebody there if this was the biggest autograph signing they've had & they said that Batista's was double, possibly triple the amount of fans.

I don't understand it but the guys has a huge fanbase.

Looks like someone in the WWE Films division forgot Triple H was once on SmackDown. World Wrestling Entertainment wishes this employee the best in his future endeavors.

WTF? So Batista gets a DVD already?? Which probably wont sell. Yet to date there has been no sign of a Chris Jericho DVD which if done right could be amazing and sell like hot cakes. WOW!!

It is a crime that Jericho does not have a DVD when Batista and Kane get releases. Jericho was pure gold in WCW and WWE, but the fact he was not homegrown means Vince will withold forever.

Dont you mean his best Match

Posted By: Guest#1463 (Guest)  on July 20, 2009 at 06:55 PM

If all of Batista's best bouts are included in this set, it must be a one hour dvd.

No Benoit?

"WWE Thumb Toys" ????

I guess they were invented by Pat Patterson and J.B.L.

whos that?

This is going to sound nitpicky and thus hypocritical but why is Jeff Hardy on the SD DVD? It seems like all of the other guys were picked because they big parts of its history. Jeff has spent much more of his career on RAW than SD. Matt Hardy would have made more sense. Or if you want a bigger name how about JBL? Use Lesnar or Angle if you're so willing to put Sting on the cover of the WCW DVD.

Batista DVD? When will someone whos worth a crap have a DVD? Maybe someone like Jericho?

if an author credit is being given to both hbk and hhh wouldnt it be an authorized history of dx?

Posted By: Joe (Guest)  on July 20, 2009 at 07:40 PM

I hope the book means DX is getting back together .

Y2J has no DVD yet , but Batista gets one ? Does anyone even like Batista ?

People complaining that a Batista won't sell a dvd obviously weren't paying attention to the sales of the Kane dvd.

QFT
Jericho has had more great matches in the last year than Batista has had in his whole career.

What is unauthorized about "The Unauthorized History of DX" book?

Posted By: Jason (Guest)  on July 20, 2009 at 09:47 PM

Honestly I might look into the DVD. While he lacks "ring work" he does have charisma.

Posted By: Guest#3537 (Guest)  on July 21, 2009 at 12:32 AM

Takee it easy guys. Batista has plenty of fans. Too bad they are mostly surgeons and doctors.

Posted By: Batista Means Fail (Guest)  on July 21, 2009 at 01:47 AM

A Jericho DVD could have his awesome WCW work on disk one (ARMBAR, Goldberg Entrances, ARMBAR, Ralphus, ARMBAR, Incredible matches, ARMBAR).

Disk 2 could cover his babyface run in WWE.

Disk 3 could be made up of his return, as his current heel run has more than enough solid gold promos and matches to fill three hours.

On the other hand,a Ricky Steamboat DVD would be gold.
Or an updated Undertaker DVD.

But we get a Batista DVD, which will practically have an entire disk full of his pyro (only reason he's over), and a match listing that will seem like they are repeating the same match over and over, getting a little slower each time.

Oh well, more time to watch the WCW DVD, or the No Way Out 2001 Tagged Classic DVD to be released in the UK in the coming months.

So the WWE releases DVD sets for guys like Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, and Rob Van Dam and for promotions like ECW, WCW, and World Class and it even got around to everyone's precious Randy Savage but we're going to go ahead and bitch that Batista's getting a set and that the WWE doesn't care about non-homegrown talent?

Posted By: His Bubbliness (Guest)  on July 21, 2009 at 04:12 AM

With Edge, Kane & now Batista getting dvd`s it should only be a matter of time before Jericho gets his much deserved 3 disc collection, you could realease a dvd of Jerichos last 12 months & it would still be better then Batistas by quite a distance.

Frig, the biggest issue with a Chris Jericho DVD release would be the LACK of Benoit matches. Those were some great matches those two had and, of course, you'll get the fans who both would love to see that...and those that would find it distasteful. But if it's genuinely the best of Jericho (as one would hope it would be), Benoit has to be on there.

In fact, I don't think it would hurt to include a Benoit match or two (I mean, it's a 3 disc set - you can skip a few chapters if you have to) and also, either in a documentary or extra, have Jericho's comments about the situation on the DVD, to clarify the company's stance to some extent. That way you get the best of Jericho without avoiding the "elephant in the room" or making it seem like you're trying to glorify tragic circumstances.

The problem with a Jericho DVD is that he's such an effective heel WWE prolly thinks the casual fan won't touch it. He's not a cool heel like Edge was nor an unstoppable monster heel like Brock Lesnar was (those are the first two DVD sets released for heels that I can recall). Jericho is the kind of heel that causes fans to jump the barrier and try and attack him. That's why we're not getting his DVD anytime soon.

What will Batista's DVD be about? Him getting injured all the time and blowing Triple H to keep his job.

I can see your point, maybe they will wait for him to turn face again before bringing out a dvd, tho personally i still think it will sell a good ammount of copies right now.
