Various News: TNA In Austria Canceled, How Piven Got The Raw Host Job, And Lots of HHH, Cena And Orton
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.29.2009

- Jeremy Piven was on the radio this morning with Jorge Sedano on 790 the Ticket in Miami, promoting his new movie The Goods. During the interview they discussed that he will guest host Raw, and asked how he got the gig. Piven stated that he was good friends with HHH and that, "I'm his workout partner…Why do people always laugh when I say that?" The interview will be available later today at 790theticket.com .

- Randy Orton won a world title for the first time at the 2004 Summerslam event. Since then, some combination (one on one, tag team and multi-man matches) of Randy Orton, HHH and John Cena have wrestled 24-times on PPV. This year's Orton vs. Cena match makes 25.

- Due to travel issues, TNA's Linz, Austria show has been canceled.

That's almost half as many times Jeff Hardy and Edge wrestled each other in the past year.

I seem to remember reading Cena having a go at Edge no less than 35 times. Repetitive, yes, but entertaining? I would say so.

Wasn't Cena and Orton the main event at Summerslam a couple of years back anyway? Just wanted to put that out.

They wrestled against each other 24 times?

I want the HBK vs HHH statisitcs of 02-04 then

That's why I wanted Mark Henry to wrestle Orton at Summerslam. Say what you want about Mark's in-ring ability, but at least it would be a breath of fresh air!

No no no

Triple H's Agent is Ari Gold

Is that 25 just from ppv matches? I'd think it would be a whole lot more if it included tv and house shows.

Never want to see the words Jorge Sedano show here again. I don't care why. Lebatard is the star on that station of PTI fame.

Is this PPVs or total televised?

Raw`s writers should be shitcanned.
There are so many guys that could feud with Cena/HHH, get a rub, and make some INTERESTING TV.
Cena or HHH gets attacked by a masked man in the back- unmasks and it is _____. (Birchill, Shelton, Regal, MVP, Swagger, Carlito, Dreamer, Miz, or 10 other guys that are doing nothing right now!!!)

Wash, rinse, repeat...wash, rinse, repeat...

Ah, Linz, Austria. Birthplace of Adolf Hitler...

The thing about HBK/HHH, or Edge/Hardy, or any of the overdone matchups.

(1) They weren't always THE centerpiece of the entire TV episode or were the Main Event.

(2) These guys basically beat up each other - and didn't squash/bury mid-carders during the fued.

Except for the occasional RKO - there is nothing ever "unexpected" in a HHH/Orton/Cena match. They all seem very formulaic and methodical.

The suddeness of an RKO also kills some of the expectation the crowd gets just before a finisher. HHH has several moves in the pedigree (grab one arm, grab the other, line up and drop). Cena's FU includes positioning the opponent by the shoulder, lifting up, posing and dropping the FU. Those few seconds of build up, although brief, revs the audience up just enough. And RKO happens and sometimes you feel like you missed it.

I spit in the face of people who don't want to make cool television.

if vince would fire more people he would have more matches people would want to see....hell he could save money and just show an old ppv instead of showing a new one

"The suddeness of an RKO also kills some of the expectation the crowd gets just before a finisher...And RKO happens and sometimes you feel like you missed it."

That's precisely why the RKO is awesome. It can come out of nowhere at any moment. Plus, he sometimes does the viper/mat-pounding thing before it to build tension. Even then, he still has the punt and all the build up for that.

Travel issues = no ticket sales.

seriously? people complained for so many years about the big foot then leg drop, kick-wham-stunner/ belly boot-pedigree and now we have something that you never see coming, which in wrestling is unique and appreciated and people still shit on it?? ponderous

"I want the HBK vs HHH statisitcs of 02-04 then"

And because Shawn Michaels is THE FUCKING MAN nobody complained. And this was during the really bad Triple H era but by god would that boy put his wrestling boots on when he got in there with his buddy.

"Due to travel issues, TNA's Linz, Austria show has been canceled."

How's Bruno supposed to turn straight without TNA?

I liked the RKO when I saw it the first time, when it was 10 years ago and called the Diamond Cutter.

Good Idea, they should do it as a mystery where someone takes out HHH in the back and Orton congratulates Legacy for taking him out but once he goes out they admit to each other they didn't do it wondering...who did. Next either Orton or Legacy is taken out with King and Cole wondering Wait a minute who is behind this....During the next match they cut to the back where Cena has just been taken out this time with a note..."all will be revealed at 10:00".... which coincides with MVP's talk show segment....MVP says he's going to get to the bottom of this and shows footage he got of the attacks...a masked man....he calls him out....then 3 masked men make their way to the ring surrounding it...MVP says pretty good taking out the main eventers so they can move up the ladder....he wished he thought of it.....then he says..."wait I did" as he pulls out a mask....starting a new stable...with Kofi, Carlito and Swagger called "the Next Generation"..

Or the masked man who attacks Cena could be revealed to be Brutus Beefcake. C'mon Starrcade 94 did an awesome buyrate didn't it?
