WWE News: Shaq vs. Big Show For Free, Triple H on Jimmy Fallon, Springer, More
Posted by Ashish on 08.09.2009

- Triple H will be a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, August 11th.

- The video of Dr. Ken on Jimmy Fallon talking about RAW and John Cena is available here.

- Serious discussions are going on within WWE about holding another three hour RAW in September and having it be headlined by Big Show vs. Shaquille O'Neal. The complication is that the NBA pre-season starts in September, so it remains to be seen if this can be worked out with Shaq's schedule.

- In a follow-up to the note about Jerry Springer yesterday, his show has moved to Stamford, CT, so that is why he was there.

Like they're going to keep plans for a month.

They cannot be serious?! Giving it away on PPV is so stupid (like when WCW gave Goldberg vs Hogan away). Can you imagine the PPV buyrates? By the way just out of interst did Floyd Mayweather help Wrestlemania 24's buyrate at all. Got the impression that it did pretty well (but didn't beat Wrestlemania 23)

But what you are forgetting is that WM 24 (at $55) was $5 more then WM 23 ($50) That's why WM 23 had more buys.

This is never going to fly once the season begins. WWE should have ran this when Shaq guest hosted. They're going to miss out on this opportunity.

The Cavs are stupid if they let Shaq get in the ring. If he gets injured, they're screwed.

It won't be a good match, why would you put it on PPV? Shaq is not a wrestler (although I think he has MMA training) and Big Show is kind of slow.

WWE needs to cut down on PPVs anyway, there really aren't many matches that haven't been done yet, since WWE won't elevate new stars and the old ones all fought each other. I remember back in the Attitude era there were some big time free TV matches, like Mick Foley's title win, and Austin fought a lot of people routinely. You have to balance having a weekly show and having PPVs.

No way the Cavaliers let Shaq do that.

Actually WCW giving away Goldberg Hogan was a result of the WWF finally beating them in the ratings and they just wanted to hold on to the "crown" that they loved so much because it allowed to pander for higher ad rates. its more than one way that a company makes money people.....

While I would enjoy seeing this, I cant picture David Stern, Danny Ferry, or any of the Cavs owners signing off on this. At his age, Shaq is on borrowed time and one injury away from retirement.

reminds me of karl malone and ddp vs. hogan and rodman. ugh.

Know what? As much as I hated seeing that Ken guy on Raw, I couldn't resist watching that video..

..And holy shit if that wasn't an entertaining heel promo better than half the friggin WWE roster can cut.

Sign him up as a Jimmy Hart style manager and I'm sold.

Well put. While in retrospect, Hogan v. Goldberg probably should have been saved for a PPV, but it did score a win for Nitro that Monday, back in the days when bragging rights were important. After years of losing to Nitro, RAW finally won a week the Spring before Hogan/Goldberg. WCW shot their load on the match for ratings, when they should have taken a page from WWE. RAW won by promising a Austin v. McMahon fight that was really an elaborate brawl used to get Dude Love over. Later, when Austin fought McMahon at St. Valentines Day Massacre, the buyrate was huge.

Shaq is over the hill. He adds NOTHING to the team anymore.

Shaq is nice, but I want to see the Celtics host as a team. Sheed will start shit. Rondo will bitch slap somebody, just like he did Brad Miller. Big Baby can tackle some wrestlers. That doesn't even include the Big Three.

I live in Cleveland and have seen our sports teams screw up more times than i can count. That is why i am certain that Shaq will wrestle Big Show and get horribly injured and screw up whatever plans the Cavs had for him for the whole season. Hell, why not have Lebron do a run-in and end his season too? It sucks being a Cleveland sports fan... the end of the season is always too predictable: we lose at whatever we are playing for!

LQBigCountry,

At least you live in the town where the team you root for plays. I live just north of Pittsburgh and am a Bengals and Reds fan, so imagine what I go through on a daily basis. Hope that helps you feel better about supporting a crappy team, because I know how you feel.

Shaq/Big Show should not only be on PPV, but on a big one, and since it won't be on Summerslam, it needs to be at Wrestlemania if possible, or next year's Summerfest, as Piven would say. I don't know with the NBA sched if they could do Wrestlemania (I seriously dobut it), but no, you don't give that away on free TV.
And it's not about the wrestling ability of Shaq or the match quality, it's about the spectacle. Show/Mayweather was absoultely awesome, and from a match perspective it was probably awful.

Actually, they should put this on free TV because we need the ratings to beat TNT in the third quarter. Shaq v. Big Show would bring in record ratings...to the tune of bigger than the show's highest rating of 8.1

Cleveland better let me do this. The sooner I get injured the more warmed up I'll be for the playoffs.

WM25 really suffered from not having a big celeb angle in my opinion. Shaq v Show at WM26 would be pretty cool. Doing it on Raw would be a waste I reckon.

I would love it if Jerry Springer would host WWE Raw.

I bet Jimmy Fallon starts cracking up in the middle of interviewing Triple H.

The only way I'd watch that is if he interviewed HHH as Barry Gibbs.

As a Cavs fan, if Shaq takes a bump, I riot!

Poor Big Show...now he has to job to Shaq. At least it's not David Arquette.
