Various News: DX Makes A Fan’s Night, Country Legend’s Son Wants To Be A Wrestler, Dixie Carter Speaks, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 08.27.2009

- Maui News has an article up on Jody Kristofferson, the son of country star and actor Kris Kristofferson, who is now trailing with APW to become a pro wrestler. Jody was a stand out wrestler in school, and had been working security for his father's concerts. You can check out the full article here.

- The Daytona Beach-Journal spoke with Dixie Carter about the new deal with Spike TV. Discussion of Jeff Jarrett came up, and Carter started that he would be back sooner rather than later. Jarrett is working on TNA projects from home. You can check out the interview here.

- The Baltimore Sun also spoke with Carter, which you can check out here. Here are some highlights:

On Kurt Angle: "I can talk about it to some degree because it's an ongoing legal case. I was briefed on the details of what happened, and I also know that people are innocent until proven guilty. And I think just like most sports franchises these days, they let the legal system do what they do best and you await the outcome. And that's what we did."

On Her Creative Control: "I've had more and more input as of late, but I'm also the type of person who puts people in place, and as long as structure is being followed and we're seeing positive results, I like to let people try to do what they do best. I don't pretend to be a wrestling booker, but I do know when we're having success, because a lot of other parts of the business are impacted by that, as well as our relationship with the network. We've made a lot of changes this year over the last six or seven months and we're starting to really see positive changes in ratings, and we're just ready for those to continue to grow."

- TNA has opened up a Bound For Glory Website, which you can check out here.

- After the SD/ECW dark match in Phoenix Tuesday night, HHH was leaving the ring when a young handicapped fan asked to pose with him. HHH took the youngster into the ring, and along with Shawn Michaels, they did the DX pose together. Check out the video below.

That's an awesome clip.

Good stuff HHH. Good stuff.

Say what you want about HHH, that was a really nice thing he did.

That was awesome. Say what you want about HHH snd SM, but they serioulsy just made a lifelong memory for this young adult.

Thank you DX for being so kind.

you can complain all you want but DX is really cool for doing that for that kid. Wrestlers have been breaking their backs for years to entertian us but we never think they are doing good enough i say enjoy it for what it is and quit complaining or quit watching

Of course after seeing all that video people will come on here and still bash HHH for being egotistical and a cancer on the wrestling business. WWE should take advantage of stuff like that by airing it on tv to help promote their image.

the IWC can say all they want about H but he is a class act to the fans.

When he came to New Zealand earlier this year with the Raw tour. there was this dude with a sign saying I've waited 10 years to see the Game. H leaned over and gave the dude his elbow pads and after the show brought him backstage and gave him shitloads of merch.
Gotta respect that

As much shit Triple H gets (and yes I give him plenty) that was a very cool thing to do.

HHH is ok in my book now. He had no obligation to do that and it was very cool of him to do so.

dixie carter is such a phoney. she is the female version of eric bischoff.

It is so funny how she spins her statements full of half-truths and outright lies.

angle should have been suspended but tna does not have a drug policy

"After the SD/ECW dark match in Phoenix Tuesday night, HHH was leaving the ring when a young handicapped fan asked to pose with him. HHH took the youngster into the ring, and along with Shawn Michaels, they did the DX pose together."

uh oh, this is the second story in as many days that puts HHH in a positive light. i believe that this breaks IWC Rule #53, which clearly states that

'at any time a wrestler is hated by the IWC at large, all stories releated to said wrestler are to have a negative slant, regardless of the content of the story, the apparent intentions of said wrestler and the truth surrounding the story in question. It is perfectly acceptable, under Rule #53, to post lies as fact, so long as such lies malign the subject.'

this is also known as the First Rule of Scott Keith. the second, of course, being 'All evil upon the earth and in the heavens is the fault of Vince McMahon/Hulk Hogan/HHH/Whomever my twinkie addled brain hates right now.'

(for those who don't remember, the Third Rule of Scott Keith is 'No matter how wrong you are, just add a 'fuck' and preteens will think your rants are funny.')

as for Dixie Carter's comments regarding Kurt Angle...brilliant. i would have liked to see many of the ball lickers who first crucified Angle and then diefied him hours later show the same restriant...ya know, the 'innocent until proven guilty' thing that most americans forget is one of the most important tenents of a legitimate legal system.

I wonder if the DX of 90's would have done that. That was cool.
Also the guy filming offers to send the video to the family, extra cool.

You know, Darth, that only applys to the government and prosecution in criminal cases right? In the private sector that doesn't mean squat. TNA can fire Kurt Angle any damn time they want. While his is a legal case and he is being charged, TNA has no obligation to wait til judgement before acting in any way they see fit.

Posted By: Guest#6867 (Guest) on August 27, 2009 at 09:34 AM

TNA *DOES* have a drug policy, but there are a couple things you got to know.

1) Kurt had a doctor's prescription to take said drugs he was caught with.

2) Total Nonstop Action, part of Panda Energy, LLC...is a private entity and unlike the WWE, they are not required by shareholders, government, etc to disclose anything that the company does behind the scenes. They do have a drug policy, however and they have fired people for not following that policy.

"Of course after seeing all that video people will come on here and still bash HHH for being egotistical and a cancer on the wrestling business."

So? Just because someone is nice guy (and he clearly is at least to a degree) that doesn't mean they aren't a skid mark on the ass of wrestling.

I hate to have a brain but doing something for a kid has nothing to do with him as a wrestler. It has something to do with him as a human being.

Posted By: Guest#4708 (Guest)  on August 27, 2009 at 12:49 PM

Kris Kristofferson hasn't really been relevant in music in sometime. He did a spoken word intro to Big & Rich's single "8th of November", but the spoken word intro was left off the single version. Beyond that, I don't remember what he's done in music in the past fifteen years. I really consider him more of an actor than a musician.

And that was pretty awesome of Trips..

For all his backstage shenanigans, that sounds like a great thing for HHH to do.

And Carter needs to lay down the book and at least enact SOME disciplinary measure on Kurt (reagdrless of whether he's guilty or not) for PR reasons.

Well, sounds like Jeff is being slowly forgiven.

So wrong! But so funny! I've heard more than a few stories of HHH being great with fans. No matter how you feel about him "professionally", he's still a human being and obviously one that cares about the people who help him make a living. And does anyone on here even know the guy "professionally"? Seriously, whether it's Hogan, Flair, HBK, Nash, HHH, etc. it's crazy that 99% of the "IWC" doesnt' know any of these guys, yet complain about their perceived politics. Newsflash-the world is built upon politics and it happens in every facet of career and life. I know not everyone on here thinks that way but seem people just need to take a step back and ask themselves why they get so emotional over rumors and gossip about ENTERTAINMENT. Some of you guys/girls need to get a life!

Say what you will about HHH, he's a professional, I doubt he would have done that if he was a heel (he's all about kayfabe) He did that becuase he's a face and that is what Faces do. I have met HHH before when he was a heel and he's awesome, I've met him as a face and he's awesome. I still feel that he respects the business of wrestling more then more people in the industry. It's still freakin cool when anyone not just HHH brings a kid into the ring to pose, hell i'm 29 and I would love to be able to say i've been in a wwe ring. I went to the UFC fan fest over the weekend of UFC 100 and I got to go into the official Octagon and that was a trip to experience.

Dixie also cited the fact that Kurt Angle is innocent until proven guilty as the reason for keeping the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on him despite his legal issues. Kudos to Carter for answering questions regarding Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle, and big props to Kevin Eck for asking the questions. Carter understandably didn't say too much about the Jarrett and Angle situations, but at least she addressed them to some extent. A highly recommended read.

"You know, Darth, that only applys to the government and prosecution in criminal cases right? In the private sector that doesn't mean squat."

to the small minded, sure. to those who actually believe in the rule of law, there are very few things in the world that are more important.

as for TNA, you could be right, but then again, if they are so worried and are legally satisfied that they can terminate Angle's contract without repercussion, they why haven't they?

maybe something to do with Dixie saying that they believe that Angle is innocent until proven guilty.

oops

there that is again, that nasty little phrase that you apparently fear. tell me, do you shit your pants when you hear 'we the people'? have you ever read the amendments to the us constitution?

oh, probably not, have you? why educate yourself on your rights under law when you can just pretend that they don't matter.

here's hoping you are never wrongly accused of anything and have to wait for trial to clear your name. from what i understand, it is very hard to remove the stigma in the eyes of those who don't believe that people are innocent until proven guilty.

sieg heil

@Darth Mortis

First of all, thank you for proving Godwin’s law to be true. Leave it to you genius.

Now, getting to the point of you being entirely wrong. “Innocent until proven guilty” again, for the slow kids like you Darth, applies ONLY to the government and it’s prosecution of criminal cases. You see Kurt Angle IS innocent in the eyes of the law until he is proven otherwise. But here is where your ideologies don’t allow you to accept the fact that you don’t know everything like you think you do.

The rule of law states that Dixie Carter, whether she chooses to or not, has the RIGHT to fire Kurt Angle’s happy ass any time she wants. It is called employing someone ‘at will’. I know we like to say we support and stand up for the accused, but in some cases in the PRIVATE SECTOR, it is in the companies best interest to separate itself from the accused and they have that right, no matter how much you kick and scream “innocent until proven guilty”. It could be that while innocent of the crimes he is accused of, his actions leading to his involvement in the dispute reflect poorly on the company as a whole and as such they have the right UNDER THE LAW to fire him. It’s true. You are wrong.

I do believe in the Constitution, son. Do I “shit my pants”? No. I love the Constitution and actually understand what it says. You do not apparently. Let me explain you the First Amendment giving us the Right to Free Speech which may help you understand the difference between the GOVERNMENT and the PRIVATE SECTOR.

The First Amendment states that “congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.“

So what this means, Darthy, is that the government cannot make laws preventing us from expressing our opinions and speaking freely. But, your employer sure as hell can fire your stupid ass for doing the exact same thing. Case in point; Bill Maher was FIRED from ABC and Politically Incorrect for making stupid comments on air about the 9/11 attackers being “brave”. Can the government stop him from making those comments? No. But ABC sure can and they did. They didn’t infringe on his right to “free speech” because they are not the government. They are a private business who has the RIGHT to look out for their best interest and not employ some moron who makes idiotic remarks.

So I actually am a bit educated on this topic. You on the other hand seem to only know the sound-bite version of the Constitution. Because from what I can tell you really have very little understanding of it.

El sex is a dumb ass-- that was not intelligent at all. "oh she has the right to fire him because the court of public opinion is against him!"

Nevermind that she has faith in him, believes in his innocence and believes that in the long term (you know, longer than TOMORROW you add addled idiot) that his innocence will in fact be shown.

Just because they can fire him for his arrest, they also have every right to stand by him.

If you don't like people having faith in each other, don't support their product. Honestly i'm just glad not everyone is as much of a douche as you.

@ Duh,

You’re a fucking idiot. Do you understand English? I was talking about the RIGHT to fire him. NEVER did I say she SHOULD fire him and not stand by him. I'm glad she stood by him and I support Kurt Angle and believe he is innocent myself.

But regardless of mine, yours or darth’s beliefs or opinions of the individual case involving Kurt and TNA, the facts are the facts. Right or wrong, WHICH I MAKE NO IMPLICATION TO, she is within her "right" to fire him if she felt it was necesssary.

So before you question my faith in humanity, take an refresher course in English and try to understand the fucking point of the post you fucking moron.
