WWE Raw Rating

Did Bob Barker deliver the ratings?
Monday night's edition of WWE Monday Night Raw scored a 3.8 cable rating. The show did hours of 3.86 and 3.79. Last week's episode scored a 3.6 rating.
Further establishes my theory that good shows don't get really great ratings, while bad shows get good ratings. Watching the legendary Bob Barker was the most fun I had watching Raw in quite some time, I don't understand why the rating went down on the second hour.

What was last weeks?
And what happened to the quarter hour break down? I liked seeing what segments got the most viewers.
And Im extremely curious how the ShitSwaggle matches have been rating lately.

Well gee, is this up or down from last week?

They've been doing this "Guest Host" shit for what, going on three months now? They are still pulling down a 3.5 average, same as before.

I agree on the hornswoggle/chavo matches. It's just such a terrible gimmick that I don't know how it would possibly do them any good. Every time it's on I just change the channel. I can understand filler for the show, but come on, at least make it good filler. I just keep waiting to see the "wishes chavo/hornswoggle the best in their future endeavors" week after week.

Actually, Raw ratings have been trending up since they started doing the guest host thing.

Those are the last good ratings for a while.

The second hour sucked compared to the first.

Thank God no Chavo-Hornswoggle match, for once!

I didn't particularly enjoy the whole price is raw thing especially with jillian hall singing and a fake price is right wheel but at least barker did one thing right: he put chavo guerrero against evan bourne instead of habing some crappy hornswoggle/chavo plinko match.

I'd love to see a Bob Barker hosted, Price is Right themed PPV.

Next week, Monday Night Football begins.
Raw Ratings? Come on down!!! You're the next contestant on "The Show is Dull"!!!

For what it's worth, I watched Raw for the first time in more than 5 years.

Bob Barker's bits were terrible. The novelty of Barker swearing and fighting wore off once the credits for Happy Gilmore started rolling.
"The Price is Wr--"

I think WWE is on the right track, with a guest host every week. It's just going with the times and sprucing up the weekly shows. Much like SNL does with a guest host each week.
No harm done trying to pull the mainstream back in.

next week football crushes your fake wrestling WOOOOO

The ratings are only slightly higher at best than before the guest host thing.
Here's the thing, people usually don't just immediately react to a show as it's happening. You need to look at ratings over a longer period of time and examine factors that way. One show might get a spike if you hype it, but if you want to keep viewers you need consistently good TV, and you get more viewers after a period of time due to word of mouth and positive reviews.
Also, WWE really needs some sort of offseason or something. The only things that are constantly on all the time without breaks are gameshows, and I don't think WWE wants to be a gameshow. Maybe I am wrong though on that since the last RAW was a gameshow parody anyway.

the wwe will never have an off season because they have to honor their 52 week tv contract obligations.
the ratings are great for raw since wwe lands in the top portion of cable ratings.
the guest host concept is great because it creates excitement especially if wwe can get a famous athlete to host the show.
for ex, if wwe could get derek jeter to host a raw in 2010, it makes wwe look good to the mainstream public and to advertisers.
the nfl will take a bite out of raw's ratings but if wwe can stay in the mid 3 range then that is a victory for wwe because obviously wwe can't compete with the nfl and no one expects them to do it.

Sure, I love Bob Barker, but as a wrestling fan, I don't care to see him or display my love for him on a wrestling show. I know tuning into wrestling to watch . . . wrestling . . . is taboo now, but just color me old fashioned.
I'm always surprised by how many people on this and other IWC sites complain about the product but still watch it and settle for liking the host/angle/hype instead of turning it off, refusing to watch it and forcing VKM et al to re-evaluate an idea that makes the wrestling look secondary, the wrestlers look like guests on someone else's show and the (TRUE) wrestling fan look like an easy mark for any bad idea that comes tumbling out of creative's collective heads.

Actually, weeks FOLLOWING bad shows should get bad ratings, not THAT SHOW.

You can put in all the guest hosts you like, its not gonna do anything if its all the same matches to such a point its painfully boring. Chavo/hornswoggle is the main problem as variations of orton/cena/dx is really unappealing now. I turned off my tv for the last 15 minutes because I cant stand to see them wrestle anymore.

Um, because people that tuned in to see Bob realized that they tuned in to Monday Night Raw and that even with Bob Barker it still sucks monkey balls.

I had never heard of Bob Barker before monday. Finding out some senile 90 year old dude with a strange obsession with "controling the pet population" was runing raw for a day just confirmed to me that wwe really has hit rock bottom!

and angle said ratings were gonna flip flop... yeah right tna has nothing on the wwe. tna wish the could put a dent on wwe ratings

WWE needs a playoff and offseason if it wants to compete with the NFL at some level. Imagine a wildcard where wrestlers are fighting to slide in to the last remaining slots of the playoff leading to the annual championship at WrestleMania...oh one only can dream.....oh well back to good old Guest Shows
Posted By: Playoffs?! Playoffs!? (Guest) on September 10, 2009 at 02:19 AM
I don't think it was a particularly good Raw. Better then it's been some weeks maybe.
Posted By: Fenris (Guest) on September 10, 2009 at 03:43 AM
Perhaps the NFL needs to look at abolishing the offseason. Have each weekend be an "epsiode" of the NFL and run all year round, with the title being defended. Have a big weekend on PPV every so often, stick a few gimmicks in (Receptions count anywhere! 30 team Battle Royale match!) - ratings winner imo
Posted By: diz (Guest) on September 10, 2009 at 07:40 AM
MNF next week will kill the MNR ratings, face it, wrestling fans will tune into football, a real sport, than this shit. Why is it that smackdown does not need a gimmick like guest hosts?!?
Posted By: Guest#2758 (Guest) on September 10, 2009 at 07:47 AM
Outside of WWE programing do they even promote to the appropriate audience? By that I mean did they run commercials for Bob Barker hosting Raw during 'The Price is Right' because surely that's the demographic that would tune in to see him. Perhaps the marketing of the guest host idea isn't as good as it could be.

I am surprised now in days that the Raw ratings are this high against football. The last two weeks they've got huge competition from the NFL Preseason game with Brett Favre and a huge college football contest this past week.
I think Raw has become football proof now with the whole guest host thing now in play. Raw is way up year to year in ratings.
Usually Raw suffers low 3s around this time of year and now its getting over 3.5 every week now.
This might be the first year that Raw has a solid rating against Monday Night Football.
This was also Labor Day so way surprising!
I think Raw really needs to keep the guest host thing permanently like someone said they do with SNL. Bob Barker is their best host to date and that was a great Raw from Chicago.

If you want to get better ratings get the belt off Orton. I can not stand how he acts when he comes out. Its time for him to drop the belt give MVP his run he seems to draw kinda like Cena used to. Orton needs sometime away and he needs to come back as a face I have pretty much stopped watching Raw because of him and I feel TNA is a better show.

Whats funny is that there is an indy guy in California that has been doing a price is right based wrestling gimmick for a while, look up Johnny Plinko
Posted By: Max (Guest) on September 10, 2009 at 06:35 PM
Orton as champ is horrifying
Posted By: Guest#0172 (Guest) on September 10, 2009 at 09:25 PM
I agree with a fellow above me are they advertising the the audience in which that host came from? Shaq was pretty much his own publicity. But ZZ Top they advertise on some oldies stations. What about Seth Green did they run some on Adult Swim or even Cartoon Network(different times ppl) Those weird Car Sales guys...Well no idea where they fit in.
