Jeff Hardy Could Face Up To 14 Years In Prison If Convicted
Posted by Ashish on 09.13.2009

North Carolina's The News & Observer has an article up featuring these new details regarding the Jeff Hardy situation.

- Jeff Hardy and Beth were at home when the raid took place Friday morning. Beth was not arrested.

- The case is still under investigation meaning more charges against Hardy remain possible.

- It is still not known if the drugs found at the home were for Hardy's personal use or if he was selling them.

- Opium trafficking, which is one of the charges Hardy faces, carries a mandatory prison sentence of 3-14 years, even for first-time offenders.

First of all....I doubt he would sell the drugs. The traffiking charge is probably because of the amount of drugs rather than the intended use they would have...

Which we all know was straight into Hardy's body.

This guy is el finito in the business I think. Nobody would touch him with a 10 ft pole after such good will by WWE and all those saying he did so well staying sober on the way out. After all that positive time, this is the result....a drug binge.

So long Jeff....wherever you end up....stay there.

hopefully, jeff hardy will gewt convicted that way wwe does not have to worry about jeff joining tna until 2012 at the earliest.

dixie carter has no morals and she will hire a convicted felon just to get that 1.4 rating for impact.

Usually whenever you hear that someone has been in prison you think they're at least kind of a bad ass.

This probably won't be the case with Jeff Hardy, unless there are reports of him beating the shit out of any of the inmates who try to fuck him or him snapping the necks of some of the cops working there. He might be xTrEmE!! in the ring but he seems like a bit of a pussy.

I understand the law is the law, but I think it's somewhat bullshit that a guy can get 14 years in prison for selling/trafficking drugs when he was not doing it in the first place nor is there ANY proof that he was.

Posted By: Guest#0963 (Guest)  on September 13, 2009 at 04:55 PM

So does this mean if he gets sent to the "pokey" he could return in time for a T-L-C WM 40 match on a one-shot deal?

He will plea to all but the trafficking, go to rehab and do maybe 1-2 years and be out in 8 months.

Posted By: Bittermidget (Guest)  on September 13, 2009 at 05:28 PM

Sorry guys, but I doubt he was selling them - look at how much money he has from merchandise alone. The cynic in me thinks that when Jeff left the wwe, he realised he could take some drugs but knew he couldn't in wwe as he would fail a wellness test. So when his contract expired he thought he would get some drugs and party. To be honest, I wonder if anyone in the wwe sensed this would happen. I also wish Shawn Michaels would talk to Jeff. Shawn was in a similar situation in his life at Jeff's age (drug use, not conviction) and look at him now. He will be one of wrestlings survivors. I truly hope Jeff is too, but I also hope that wwe stop holding up people like jeff as poster boys for kids to look up to. What message does this send to kids?

Posted By: CJ47 (Guest)  on September 13, 2009 at 05:32 PM

I really doubt they're going to get him on drug trafficking charges. Most likely possession and most likely he'll get off with rehab/community service.

does anyone know why they seached the house for?? i mean thats not that many pills maybe a month or so. When i had surgery i had 120 with 4 refills. Ive heard from people that use to party (cause i live about 30 min away from hardy)they he was a big meth user and he could make the stuff to but, they people that said that were some weird people but, it looks like its true.

CM Punk was right! He should bring this up at the PPV tonight and see how many of the Jeff Hardy fans start to cry because their idol is a user and/or dealer and a felon! That would be worth watching!

If children and emos still have change in their pocket, Vince may still take Jeff back.

Posted By: Guest#2788 (Guest)  on September 13, 2009 at 05:55 PM

Well some of the charges will be changed. The trafficking charges in particular will probably go. But right now it looks like his plea bargaining position still includes some time.
The guy needed real friends, not people who shielded him from sh!t talkers.

No drugs for Jeff in jail. That is truely A hell in a cell.

Jeff Hardy is such an idiot. He would rather get high than perform in front of millions of adoring fans every week, and most are young kids that really looked up to this junkie. Vince should have never pushed him and I bet anyone with a shady past will be hard pressed to get a big push in the future. Defend this loser now Matt; he's a disgrace to you and your whole family.

Posted By: callerno9 (Guest)  on September 13, 2009 at 06:19 PM

Where are they getting the opium charges from? I thought he just had pain killers, sleeping pills, and steroids. I highly doubt the trafficking charges will stick. Jeff will make a deal on lesser charges and serve 1 year in prison. Long enough to get clean and rest up for his return the WWE in a couple years.

Posted By: aaron (Guest)  on September 13, 2009 at 06:22 PM

i'm not the biggest hardy-fan, but i seriously doubt that he was a dealer and i hope he does not end up 14 years in jail.

somehow it's still a strange coincidence that the drugs were "found" just as he left wwe... or maybe he left because otherwise it would have been strike 3 on his wellness.

who knows, but i wish him the best

Posted By: tmw (Guest)  on September 13, 2009 at 06:29 PM

Well at least he didnt kill his wife and small child. Godbless you Chris Benoit, you've set a standard no wrestler will ever reach.

Many of the mandatory sentences for drugs are pretty stupid. That's the number one reason our prisons are so crowded in this country. We need to review the way we do things.

Huh? This opium thing is news to me. I thought all they found was soma, painkillers and cocaine?

Say hi to Bubba for me.

Hardy is a fail! You know when WWE turns your demons in to a storyline, it generally it meant as a wake-up call. Guess Jeff was too high to notice. HAHAHAAHAHA.

"dixie carter has no morals and she will hire a convicted felon just to get that 1.4 rating for impact."

As opposed to WCW & WWE (Booker T, Nathan Jones & MVP for examples) and most major companies who've also hired people with criminal records. Tim Allen (Tool Time) even did time in jail for having over a pound of cocaine. Get over it.

First off, that shot at Dixie Carter was uncalled for, and second...if she would have no morals for potentially signing a convicted drug trafficker, then what sort of person would that make a promoter who hired someone convicted of armed robbery and felony kidnapping? Cuz Vince already did that, and let him have the US Title!

@Dan
No one forced the man to be a druggie, that was his choice and I have little sympathy. He'll get help in prison, or be required to attend rehab if he cops a plea - either way he gets help. Perhaps jail time will be the catalyst for him to change his fucking life.

Yeah, because Vince would NEVER hire convicted felons or murderers (Jimmy Snuka) or drug addicts or abusers or criminals. I mean, really, some of you marks need to shut the fuck up. Just an FYI, Snuka was hired by the WWF in January of 1982, and was ALLEGEDLY accused of the murder in 1983. For 1, innocent until proven guilty, and 2, he ALLEGEDLY commited the murder over a year after his hiring.

It's so funny to read Matt, etc. say "Don't judge until all the facts are out" etc. As if there is going to be a huge twist that vindicates Jeff. Even if they drop ALL the charges, the guy had a ton of illegal drugs that he was clearly using and possibly distributing. And this is a guy whose career is based on kids cheering for him. He's a douchebag.

So rvd snitching on jeff was a one shot deal....And just incase anyone doesnt know cm punk is straight edge wich means he's better then jeff hardy....Owned....Drink pepsi kids dont do opium...Also what are the miracle odds that hardy gets raided and arrested right after he's no longer employed by wwe...they lucked out by the grace of god not to have this cluster fuck of bad press layed at there feet

I always said Matt was the better Hardy and Jeff was an overrated spot monkey anyway. Regardless, this is quite sad. I think we've seen the last of the so-called "Charismatic Enigma"....Enigma being the operative word. Those CM Punk promos were gold. He was right.

I have not seen any other coverage about this anywhere but on here. They even used it tonight on the PPV. I see this being part of his publisity for his Reality Show. They cant arrest One party in the house if two of them are there. How can they charge Jeff and not his wife? If this was real they would have had a sports center moment or some mainstream news. Lets be real....oh yeah thats right this is wrestling what is real?

I love reading through the comments on 411...they constantly prove me right that the IWC is stock full of tough talking, nit pickers who delight in the misery of others.

For all you dumbasses claiming that its a "work", look at the source of this article.

I've never had much sympathy for addicts in my life, but as far as Jeff Hardy goes I think it would really do him some favors if he ended up doing time. So far he's been shielded from anything significant happening to him for doing drugs, but a year or so behind bars would be a great way to put the writing on the wall so to speak to quit his current lifestyle. If he gets something like 14 years, it might be exactly what he needs to live a healthy life afterward. Until now, Hardy wasn't really punished. NOW, we'll see what happens.

It's OK.
If he goes to jail, he can hit one guard with a twist of fate, another guard with a Swanton, scale the wall, and hit Whisper in the Wind on the guards waiting outside.

why are you guys so concerned with the condition of hardy's booty?

I don't think Hardy will do any lengthy jail time, if any...a good lawyer could probably get him off the major charges, and plead out to the smaller ones with some kind of huge fine, a few months, or even time served, probation, and lots of community service. This is more or less the best the system can hope for in terms of carrying out drug sentences in America nowadays...it allows them to appear tough on the issue without the expense of incarcerating someone. Of course, that's the best case scenario...the reality of it is a rather more bleak for middle class and poorer offenders, and lots of folks who're technically guilty but are no real danger to society end up going to jail. At the end of the day, money talks and bullshit walks when it comes to competent legal counsel.

Though keep in mind, this is the same Jeff Hardy who didn't have insurance on the house that burned down, so who knows what kind of thought process will go into selecting a lawyer. For all we know, we could see Shannon Moore defending him.

Interesting how they want to put Hardy away for up to fourteen years, for hurting no one other than himself, yet Chris Brown beats the shit out of Rihanna and he gets community service. America is a hell of a place.

Jeff has really made a mess of his life. I'm really sorry to see him like this and I really, really, really hope he gets the help he needs and manages to get his life into order.

Please don't hate the man. He's already suffering enough as is.

Here's the deal..I'm not surprised by mixed reactions to Jeff's situation, but I'm amazed by those that continue to defend him. No, he's had problems for years now, dating back about 6 or 7 years. Vince and the WWE has constantly given him chance after chance to correct himself and get on track, but everytime he drops the ball.

It's begun to seem that the WWE is Jeff's refuge, the one place where he can avoid trouble. During the times that he's been employed, they've kept a track on him and kept him focused. But as soon as he takes time away, bad things happen..karma can be such a bitch. He was suspended at the beginning of last year in the midst of a big push. He returned to another push, two more World Titles, and now this..3 WEEKS after leaving.

I've defended Jeff before cause I realize we all have our vices. I've done my share of things in the past as well when I was 21, 22, etc.. but now at 32 years of age (same as Jeff), you gotta wake up and grow up. If you keep going back to the same well, you will eventually fall in.
