Various News: Next WWE Films Project, More On New Developmental Signing, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.20.2009

- Former WWE performer Sylvain Grenier brought Tomassino, who was recently signed by WWE, to the PPV and TV tapings. Tomassino also appeared as a member of Teddy Long's security team on Smackdown. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- Mike Mooneyham has a column up, discussing why Ric Flair deserves a chance to return to the ring. You can check that out here

- The Big Show will star in the next film for WWE Films. The movie will be a straight to DVD project called Suckerpunch, and is expected to begin filming next month in New Orleans. That is also where John Cena filmed 12 Rounds. The film will have a wrestling theme, as Show will play a giant man named Walter Kronk, who has lived his entire life in an orphanage. In the film, fight promoter Memphis Earl is trying to find his way out of being in debt to crooked partner, and talks Kronk into wrestling. Dennis Farina (Law And Order) will play Memphis Earl. The film is expected to have a budget of between $5-$6 million. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

Sounds like the most promising WWE Film yet.

WWE should stop making movies, they're all terrible.

"and is expected to begin filming next month in New Orleans"
That makes how many WWE films based in N.O. already? I guess that tax break is really, really big.

I understand WWE is trying to give wrestlers something else to do, but enough. When your main product(wrestling) is as bad as it is, you should really concentrate on it. Having said that, Big Show is maybe one of 3 wrestlers on the E roster that isnt in need of a personality transplant, so this movie might suck a little less than others.

There's already a movie being made called Sucker Punch. Zach Snyder is doing it. Maybe they're hoping to cash in on the "confused consumer" demographic.

lived his entire life in an orphanage? not bad, add Billy Crystal and we have a blockbuster! We can call it, my Giant or something like that!

I like that story, is different, it's refreshing, Big Show himself is refreshing and different .. it's the first WWE film I'd be interested in checking out. So of course, they release it straight to DVD.

Why don't they ever have any DIVAS in wwe films?!? Some hot nude scenes with them would definitely boost sales ;)

They named him WALTER KRONK?! Why not call him Dan Rath? Or Wolf Blitz? Anderson Coop? Keith Olber? Shaun Hann?

Walter Cronkite will be rolling in his grave.

You know, Big Show is incredibly funny (see his Leno appearence a few weeks back). They should maybe think about putting him in a comedy instead of another action movie.

I like Big Show and Dennis Farina so this might not be completely terrible but if it is i have another movie to take to my friends fortnightly bad film club. Beer, bad films and banter and WWE Films is fast becoming a big contributer to it

Have any of these shitty WWE films ever turned a profit?

bring back Captain Insane-O!!!

This could actually be a decent film. Big Show has a good stage presence, and can be both convincingly funny or poignant. Dennis Farina is also a good actor. If they can get a few proper actors, and maybe slip in some wrestlers who could handle material like this, then it could be awesome.

I'm willing to give anything Dennis Farina is involved in a chance.

Who in the f*ck is the target audience for that HORRIBLE-sounding movie??? Even at $5-$6 million, it won't make its money back.
