WWE News: Undertaker Health Concerns, Vince Wanted Hardy Buried, Punk’s Future, Possible Jericho DVD, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.20.2009
Lots of WWE news…
- Right now there is a lot of concern regarding the health of The Undertaker. He came back to work in Puerto Rico, as a warm up for his Breaking Point match, and that is when concern started. After WrestleMania, Undertaker had hip surgery, but it was played off as a minor thing. In reality, he had very serious surgery, possibly a hip replacement, and the company wondered if he would return at all. Taker is in a lot of pain, and noticeably slower; this is why the Breaking Point match was booked to be so short. Some are wondering if we will see him retire at WrestleMania 26.
- Al Sharpton will guest host Raw on September 28th.
- The View's Sherri Shepard is expected to guest host in October.
- Vince McMahon made the call for CM Punk to cut a promo on Jeff Hardy at Breaking Point. Punk had already cut a promo, but Vince made the decision to add in the Hardy comments and re-shoot the promo.
- The creative team has been pushing to give CM Punk a bodyguard. Ezekiel Jackson had been rumored for the role, but the feeling is that working on ECW is the better place to develop him. Another option is Festus. The angle would be that Punk either got him off of his medication to make him normal, or that he is feeding him pills to control him.
- If the WWE doesn't put out the Jeff Hardy DVD in December, a likely replacement will be a Chris Jericho compilation DVD. WWE is still working on the Jeff Hardy DVD though.
Punk feeding him pills? He doesn't need such a cheap way to get heel heat.

Interesting... CM Punk with a body guard that would be fun.
Taker retiring possibilities.. I've heard that a bazillion times before.
Jericho getting a DVD because of Jeff's failings.. Jericho should of had a DVD a long time ago and not as a back up plan.
Posted By: Andrew Barbarash (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 02:25 PM
Oh please put out the Jericho dvd over the Jeff Harvey one...ive been waiting years for a Jericho dvd!!!
Posted By: BP (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 02:26 PM
would much rather see the Jericho DVD.
Posted By: Tim Haught (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 02:27 PM
So...Punk would have been feeding Festus these pills behind Jesse's back all along??? Hmmmmmmmmmm......

I am starting to think my theory about this Undertaker "Screwjob" storyline is legit.
Teddy Long said he has to do it to support his family, indicating that either Vince put him up to it and threatened to fire him if it didn't go down, or someone offered him a shitload of money to screw Taker. Who has a lot of money? Who brought in The Undertaker? Who has a son currently on the WWE Roster who was rumored to be in consideration for ending the Streak?
Posted By: Jeremy from Palmdale (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 02:28 PM
i guess my streak of not watching raw will continue.
Posted By: rey (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 02:30 PM
I wouldn't want the Jericho DVD to be just whipped together.
Why would Punk get Festus on medication to control him? Or why would Festus be on medication? Or how did Punk and Festus get mentioned in the same sentence?
Can Vince lash out on more of his former employees like Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, or Hogan?
Posted By: The Dutch (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 02:33 PM
Seriously, Al Sharpton? David Duke should be next since we are doing race baiters.
Posted By: Guest#8415 (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 02:34 PM
Yeah, time for 'Taker to go. They can give him one last 30 minute lame entrance, then after he buries a younger talent, he can get on one knee and roll his eyes back into his head while thousands of virgins cry the night away.
Posted By: I Get Laid (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 02:35 PM
Aaaah it was only a matter of time for Undertaker :( Sad news. I hope this isn't as serious as it could be.
And Vince is an evil bastard! That being said he is such a smart business man, that promo will get Punk some MEGA heat.

That's why you are telling people about it on the internet!

Lets hope the king of burying everyone shows some class and does not destroy Punk on his way out the door. And before you all defend him by saying "he gets people over even while beating them," there is no excuse for someone with a career that long to have NEVER tapped out and to have only lost clean a handful of times. Taker is a cancer.
Posted By: Guest#4072 (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:01 PM
they better not do the bodyguard angle.

Let's hope he does bury punk. Face it 2 weeks after the hardy fued and he is stale as week old bread. His moveset is limited, The anaconda vice looks like shit, AND THE GUY JUST BORES ME!!!
I really really want to like him, The main event needs young guys like him. However if they don't do something soon he's going to fade away. Undertaker and Batista are there and Jericho will be in the singles again. Now is the time to push punk higher not give him the same promo week after week
Posted By: truth (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:18 PM
sSo if the rumors are to be belived then both HBK and UNDERTAKER will retire at WM26? HBK you would imagine will face HHH but what about Taker? Is there anyone left? JERICHO!!! BOOK IT
As for Jeremy from Palmdale do you really think Taker would lose at Mania on his way out? No. They have built the streak up too much.
Posted By: tired (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:21 PM

You coud not be further from the truth! The Undertaker has EARNED everything he has been given. Also, as someone who has actually seen the effects of cancer, you should be ashamed to even dare to make such a comparison! How pathetic can you be?
I was hoping The Undertaker could retire after he went 20-0 at Wrestlemania(I will settle for 18-0). I hope he does whatever is best for his health and well being. As much as he will be missed, I don't want him hurting himself for our entertainment.

Yay to a Jericho dvd, FINALLY
Sad to hear about Taker, but maybe he can find a role other than wrestling to stay with the company.

Posted By: Guest#9502 (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:39 PM
Guest#4072 please just shut up. Undertaker routinely has a MOTY candidate, and from all accounts - is the most respected, classy veteran in the business. You're such a tool.
Posted By: Save_Us_411 (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:46 PM
Having Al Sharpton host Raw is equal to having a KKK member host. One of the biggest racists in the world today. WWE just lost one viewer. It was a nice run...
Posted By: Guest#0538 (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:48 PM
This, btw, is why no wrestler owes Vince loyalty as he'll turn on you and trash you to no end just so he can get a hard on.
Posted By: Volourn (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:49 PM
OK, since they are having Sharpton, in the vein of fairness, they should have David Duke. Both are racists, so why not be fair about it?
Posted By: REALITY (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:50 PM
"Al Sharpton will guest host Raw on September 28th."
Great. One of the most racist people on the planet will be hosting. I won't be watching.
Posted By: Guest#2097 (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:51 PM
Taker has contributed enough. Time to build a new icon and move on.
If Hogan's tour goes well, WWE might want to open up a senior brand and build it around the Taker. They would do one show a month, no more, no less.
Posted By: guest wrong (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:54 PM
That whole Festus idea is a crock, seriously. I've never heard of such a worse idea. Punks character would work that much better without a body guard imo.
Posted By: Danny Charisma (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:59 PM
Why not just turn Batista and make him Punk's bodyguard? He's incredibly stale as a face anyway.
Posted By: Joseph Lee (Registered) on September 20, 2009 at 03:59 PM
i think a normal Festus backin up Punk could work really well.
Definitely would love to see a Jericho DVD its about damn time

Posted By: Joseph Lee (Registered) on September 20, 2009 at 03:59 PM
I could see it, Batista joins Punk because he too has not failed wellness and hates that everyone backstage and the IWC thinks he's getting special treatment. Batista would then cut promos that his body is 100% natural and that everyone is weaker than him physically and mentally (heel heat).
Posted By: The Dutch (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 04:15 PM
I love da taker. I've been a fan for YEARS. It does kinda sting a little to see him so run down. Maybe it is time. Let him finish his streak tho, damn it. I think mean mark callous deserves it.
And just to be ahead of the game, screw all the smart ass remarks to follow this post.
Posted By: Undertoker (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 04:15 PM
Get the straight-edge person to "feed someone" drugs. Isn't that a little hypocritical and against his lifestyle?
Posted By: Coop (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 04:18 PM
jericho didnt have a dvd because his career was too intertwined with benoit. now he has accumulated so much great post benoit work, they can skip over him. or like vince said, include but not promote him.

Well this could be interesting to say the least.
Posted By: Shaun J. (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 04:56 PM
Al Sharpton? really vince? are you that desperate to let one of the most racist men in America host
Posted By: stkwchr (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 05:04 PM
That's sad about Taker. I thought he would actually get a chance to get the title again before he retires, something he deserves after happily moving up and down the card through most of his career rather then just staying in the main event forever like some other stars. The idiot that said he was the king of burying people couldn't be further from the truth he's only one of two stars I've ever heard of insisting that they loose to put someone else over. Sadly he often ends up putting over people like Vlady Coleslaw, but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, if this is serious then he is unlikely to get a last run. Which means probably a switch of fued away from Punk allowing for Batista to take his place. So I hope those idiots that are actually happy to hear this news are happy also to accept Batista as there champion very soon as that's probably what they'll get. I reckon this has decreased Punks chances of holding the title for a long time, not increased it.
As for the other things. Well I can see Vince being pissed at Hardy and adding that to him being a ruthless businessman there's no real surprise here.
I can go with Punk having a bodyguard. I know he get's heat pretty well by himself but I think having someone with him would give him more variety as well as extra options to screw opponents in matches. I do hope they don't go with the him giving Festus pills though. Taking him off them and turning him into a psycho (that only he can control) would go with the heel side of straight edge much better.
...and oh joy another star I barely know hosting Raw. At the moment I am only enjoying former WWE stars when they do it and everyone else just leaves me cold. It can't be that hard to find people well known outside the states.
Posted By: Fenris (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 05:09 PM
Seriously Al Sharpton? Yeah that'll put asses in the seats
Posted By: da juice (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 05:12 PM
Kozlov should be the bodyguard for punk not festus. Its about time Taker started considering callin it quits.
Posted By: rez_perez (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 05:14 PM
do the Jercho DVD the right way!
First disk is him talking about his career just like the HBK or Flair DVD's.
Disk two and three - matches and promos. i would love for them to include his WM19 one against HBK on it.
Posted By: hum (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 05:16 PM

Yep, that darn WWE hiring that Al Sharpton after he organized mobbs of crazy men to hand people and take pictures after the events while smiling..yeah Al Shartpton and the KKK are exactly a like....get the fuck outta here....

The McMahon comments on Benoit do pave the way for a decent Jericho DVD set. I would rather have a Jericho DVD than a Hardy (either) set any day.

1) Undertaker has lost substantially more than a "handful of times" closer to 200 times i would venture.
2) Undertaker tapped out to Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit and while in WCW he tapped to Lex Luger.

They say Undertaker never lost a match by submission (tap out). Which is true!! The match where he tapped out to Kurt Angle, Kurt was pinned for a three count at the same time. NO WINNER or LOSER!!!!
Posted By: Big Sarge (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 06:19 PM
Undertaker tapped out to Kurt Angle. WWE doesn't want you to know that!
Posted By: BOB (Guest) on September 20, 2009 at 03:23 PM
Technically, it doesn't count because at the same time, Taker pinned Angle. The official result was a draw, meaning Taker didn't pin Angle and Angle didn't make Taker submit.
But good job in getting it half right.

Taker wud be a huge loss. He has been tremendous in putting people over for years.he came in the Hogan era & since then he put over Bret,HBK,HHH, Rock, Austin,Brock, Bigshow, Brock,Cena, Batista, Edge,Kennedy, Hardy,Punk, etc. Taker helped all these guys look more legit after fueds w/ him. Huge loss.

I really wonder how much racism have been experienced by those that are so quick to denounce Al Sharpton as racist.
The guy can be entertaining, if his appearance on SNL was any indication. Besides, I would LOVE to see Chris Jericho dressing him down.

Pills? CM Punk? Do those two words belong in the same sentence without something to nullify their association? This makes about as much sense as Mae Young giving birth to Katie Vick's cheerleader skirt.
That said, if WWE was willing to work at it (ha ha) they could make a somewhat coherent storyline. I scripted out a basic one and put it on the WWE Universe Forums in the Creative Team section. Not that anyone from WWE will ever read it, but the point is, it's possible.

So, essentially this whole "bodyguard"-thing would mean that Punk will be played out as utter shit who can't hold a candle to Batista in a later feud, and the only thing that makes him retain the title a few months if some bodyguard of his, which eventually is barred out of the match and thus results in Batista squashing Punk in a 2min match at a PPV? Whoppee. This sounds wonderous.
