Jim Ross Not At Last Night’s Smackdown Tapings
Posted by Larry Csonka on 10.14.2009

Jim Ross was not at the WWE Smackdown tapings last night; Michael Cole replaced him on commentary. Ross was given the night off for his wedding anniversary. While JR's contract is coming up later this year, this was a planned night off and had nothing to do with the contract negotiations.

Oh my God. Michael Cole and Todd Grisham on commentary together. I'll be certain to watch this week's Smackdown with the sound down. I hope JR enjoyed wedding anniversary. I can't wait until he returns.

Sure it doesn't I bet that good 'ol JR is leaving very soon.

Congrats JR!

I have a gut feeling he's leaving. You can tell how little he cares about his job by his commentary and his blogs. All his favorite performers are gone, and he's part of a company with no real sense of direction. Might as well get out while the getting is good.

I had heard that Grisham was gonna be gone from commentary this week due to him getting married. Hopefully they did not call him back just so JR could get the night off.

Yeah, its totally clear that he doesnt care about his job. Thats why he has a blog about wrestling, because he just doesnt care. Why should he? Afterall, with guys like Undertaker and Michaels gone, why should he care?

That aimless, global corporation that keeps expanding it's foreign market (see China/India) while signing new talent (see Daniels/McGuinness).

They just have no direction. JR better leave. You can tell he's going to, right?

I disagree. I think since moving to Smackdown, J.R's commentary has, a lot of the time, been infused with an excitment that he hasn't showed for years! I think watching young performers being given the chance to excell is what keeps J.R going, and hehas definately found himself on the right brand for that.

Good Ole JR, at home getting some love. I wonder if Vince barks instructions while he does that too.

heh, reads as if you have some sort of McMahon in your ear fetish. I am sure if you play your cards right, get Vince drunk enough, and wear just the right dress, you could get him to put something in your ear.

Nice to see someone can get a day off without an injury or wellness violation...

Wait a sec...

ZOMG~! J.R. GOT WELLNESS VIOLATION!!!

As for his contract, he'll resign...and then get drafted back to RAW...it's time to get JR and King back together, especially since King has ZERO chance at winning that mayoral election...

JR taking the night off to get some! I wonder if he tells his wife to give him a "slobberknocker"

Maybe JR slipped on some good ol' JR Barbecue Sauce :)

Um, not for nothing but JR may seem better because of the magic of editing..
Which he didn't have the benefit of on Raw.

Is JR getting the night off just a one-shot deal or did he sign a new contract?

Congrats JR but I'll be watching SD! on Mute this week
