Nothing, ECW doesnt need to improve its ratings

I blame the lack of ECW on the PPVs

ECW doesn't need to worry about their ratings
Posted By: Cesarmania (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 07:57 PM
Right now, I think wrestling in general is hosed. None of the shows are pulling the ratings they should be.
(And this is coming from a TNA fan who should be shouting 'EPIC FAIL' or some dumb crap. But right now, wrestling in general is getting slammed, and it just isn't funny any more)

Not be a developmental show and for the WWE to promote it as more than an after thought. I think Superstars gets a bigger push from the WWE than ECW does, but thats what ECW is. Its sole purpose is to develop talent and in that role, its been a good deal for them. Hart Dynasty, CM Punk, Swagger, Kofi etc....

What does ECW have to do to improve their ratings?
Tiffany, Katie and Rosa get into a pie fight then lick each other clean.

John Cena needs to come to ECW

Offer something that viewers absolutely REFUSE TO MISS! How about some more Extreme Rules matches? How about new opponents for Burchill and Hurricane?
For the record, I enjoyed last night's show. But like I said, offer a show that viewers simply REFUSE TO MISS. That's the key to getting people to watch.

"What does ECW have to do to improve their ratings?"
Nothing. They were up against baseball.

Well wwe makes us feel like ecw doesn't mean anything...so how do they expect us to watch it?
Posted By: tazzzz (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 08:55 PM
WWE has to stop treating it like shit and act like the show is as important as RAW and SmackDown.
Posted By: guest (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 09:01 PM
What do they need to do? How about not having a damn brand vs brand PPV for bragging right that doesn't include every brand.
Yeah, I know ECW doesn't have the talent or depth to realistically make fans believe they could beat Raw or Smackdown, but whose fault is that? Until WWE treats ECW like it really matters, why would anyone watch?
Posted By: chumpstain (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 09:04 PM
Ratings seem to be down for most of the shows. People calling for the show to be canceled crack me up though. Not much of a wrestling fan, in my opinion. What's funny is right after they did the big trade where they got rid of all the top stars of the show, ratings improved.
I don't know what they can do to improve ratings. They could always send Cena to ECW if he loses to Orton. Yeah, that'll happen. I just wonder what ratings would be if Cena won the ECW belt and main evented PPV's with it.
They could add another singles title, like the ECW TV Title, but it's not really needed.
They could always make ECW matter in the eyes of the "WWE Universe".
BRAGING RIGHTS
RAW "We're #1"
Smackdown "No, we're #1."
ECW "We don't matter. We're not even good enough to have a match on the show at this point."
Maybe they could, oh I don't know, make ECW mean something. Give them a victory over RAW talent. Even if it's just Chavo, Masters and Swagger vs Dreamer, Reks and Yoshi. Give ECW a moment like that.
Let the ECW belt be defended in the last hour of a PPV. Here's another idea. Add a second ECW match to a PPV once in a while, even if it's to open or follow the opening match and is a quick five minute deal.
I think ratings are down just because they are on most shows now. It's not just becauise of sports, but the new TV season just started and people are simply taking a break for a while.
Of course, the fact that ECW doesn't seem to matter could be a part of it. I doubt WWE is too worried about it yet, but it it keeps up too long, they will be.

shouldn't u be asking that to TNA.. they're a 2 hr Flag show for themselves and they dont get that much higher than this

Woo Woo Woo= Ratings!
Posted By: Guest#5559 (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 09:46 PM
ECW has to matter. Plain and simple. It is not treated as important, therefore it is not viewed as important. Leaving a show completely off of your PPV's will do that.
Posted By: Bemini (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 09:54 PM
Vince needs to admit that his vision of ECW was a failure just like the XFL was. Let's face it. The first episode of ECW on Sci Fi got a 2+ rating because people thought it would be similar to the original. Now it's below a 1. The people have spoken that Vince failed again.
Posted By: Michael (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 09:56 PM
ECW is a reasonable enough show now, I enjoy it when I watch it.
I don't think they should focus on improving ratings for it, it's still doing quite well even after they stripped it of their major stars in the draft and roster trades. They need to focus on building the people they are building right now - Tatsu, Ryder, etc, so they have a reason to feature ECW on PPVs.
Overall, I'd say it's the viewers loss if they don't tune in.

Extreme Rules matches? Oh mean "Let's toss a bunch crap and garbage around the ring and pretend we're totally brutal" matches.
Posted By: lazyassbum (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 10:37 PM
Make the show not look like a developmental show and give it purpose. Seriously once Christian leaves for Raw or Smackdown ECW is gonna get beat by old reruns of Seinfield as what it there to watch on it?
Posted By: Michael (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 11:21 PM

I totally concur on this comment! Wrestling is not entertaining anymore, the main belts do not show any substance because the champions are either boring, old, or just used up! WWE 2009 is not the Attitude era (when WWF/E was fun to watch).
Posted By: Guest#8092 (Guest) on October 14, 2009 at 11:46 PM
Treat it as though it matters. It is far better than "development on tv" but that's how it is treated.
Christian,Regal,Shelton and Ryder are more than enough basis for a solid hour long show.
Posted By: Guest#1146 (Guest) on October 15, 2009 at 12:15 AM
Does ECW really even count as a mainstream wrestling show? It's a developmental show if anything that puts on atleast one exceptional match every week.
No main storylines are discussed, made, or followed through upon. It's just a good wrestling show with many fun characters and mini-fueds. You can't improve upon that.
TNA iMPACT on the other hand...

Not for nothing...
But does anyone else feel that maybe this whole PG stuff is directly related to Linda running for office?
I think they may be suffering from the fact that the McMahon family is more interested in her winning and are trying to avoid controversy by going PG.
Just saying.

The problem is twinfold. Problem #1 is that there are only two groups of wrestlers in ECW (for the large-part): those who have made the jump up from Florida Championship Wrestling, and guys who USED to be main-event (or at least upper-mid-card) worthy, but the WWE forgot how to use them and shipped them there. Granted, it wouldn't make much sense to have, say, Sheamus go after a guy like John Cena or Shawn Michaels, but if you don't give them an opportunity to face off against a main-eventer outside of Christian, then they will only be viewed as lifetime mid-carders, and that's a shame, because some of ECW's guys and gals (Sheamus, Paul & Katie Lea Burchill, Yoshi Tatsu, and even old mainstays like Shelton Benjamin) are better than some of the guys on the other two brands, but in the cases of everyone but Benjamin and Sheamus, they'd probably be used as "developmental talent" anywhere else.
Problem #2: No respect from other brands. In spite of its sitatuion, it should be mentioned. I mean, just about every PPV mention, if the ECW belt is involved, odds are they won't be mentioned on either RAW or SmackDown, even if its the week before. It's kinda sad when at "Bragging Rights", Christian and William Regal wrestled a 3 star match, without any mention beforehand other than on ECW, wheras Kane vs. the Great Khali got plenty of face time, and was lucky to break the 1 1/2 star range. Again, it's not as if ECW deserves two matches, since they only have one belt, but it also doesn't help when, for the past three SummerSlams, your title match didn't even last 30 seconds.

ecw needs more talent maybe 6 guys and 2 divas. They need to get joey styles back on the mic expand the show to 90 minutes and even try to get paul heyman back in.And a lot of boob slippage.

Bring back the crusierweight title on ECW. Get Rey Mysterio on there to kick start it!
Turn him heel or something good.
That would help!

Bring back the European Title.
More talent on the roster.
Posted By: Guest#6993 (Guest) on October 15, 2009 at 11:05 AM
Is it Me, or is that the only program that JeriShow do not participate on? Surely they could put them on there, so there could be a tag team that mattered, and not just random stables, that appear and soon disappear for the sake of a story line. Hell break up the belts and have both teams tour all brands. That way, there is exposure for at least some talent from ECW on the big two. For ratings to improve, people that watch either smackdown or raw, need to be exposed to talent that is on ECW and not just be another program. Make them care about the wrestler even if the gimmick is just the begining of it.

What does ECW have to do to improve ratings? Kick that talentless whore Tiffany to the curb and hire someone with some mic skills.
