411 Wrestling Feedback: What Was The Worst Wrestling PPV Ever?
Posted by Larry Csonka on 10.19.2009
Last week was the best, and now….the worst!
What Was The Worst Wrestling PPV Ever?
Like the best PPV, this one is also a big source of debate, just what was the WORST wrestling PPV of all time? The Heroes Of Wrestling PPV, December to Dismember, various WCW PPV and some of TNA's weekly PPV's are always mentioned in this debate. But what do YOU think?
i dont understand the hate for d2d, the ppv had two really really good matches, same cant be said for something like victory road

Definitely not Heroes of Wrestling. Granted, it stunk horribly. But Jake the Snake's insane mumbly monologue and snake-phallus masturbation are definitely worth seeing and that saves it from being the worst in my book.

For me, it was WrestleMania IX. The Las Vegas crowd, the outdoor atmosphere made for a good visual, but the card pretty much sucked from top to bottom. Not even the Intercontinental Title match, and the Steiners v Headshrinkers match as openers, could save this piece of garbage.
Posted By: Miller (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 12:45 AM
Can't remember the event, but it was a TNA PPV a couple months ago. Victory Road, maybe? Every outcome was wrong, and most of the MEM hobbled around the ring getting the wins. This comes from a fan for over 15 years. It was just so sad to watch. Even on ECW's D2D or a WCW PPV, there was a good match somewhere on the card......

Hard not to choose Capitol Combat 1990, I believe. I never felt so bad about 29.99 in my life
Posted By: thegunisgood2009 (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 12:46 AM
WWF Invasion. I was going to write a real long rant to explain it, but i'm going to keep it short: It may not have had the worst matches but it had the potential of being one of the greatest PPVs but ended up being no more exciting than a show like Unforgiven. Honestly, this was the dream show of almost all wrestling fans but instead it eliminated the WCW fanbase and made WWE even more stale than it was before.

You ask us what the worst pay-per-view is, and you give us the poster to the answer.
1. December to Dismember has a good tag match, and a passable Elimination Chamber. Unfortunately, it was supposed to be a 3 hour pay-per-view.
2. Heroes of Wrestling. Enough said.
3. King of the Ring '95
4. GLOW
Posted By: KSEdwards (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 01:13 AM
King of the Ring '95. There might've been worse but it's got a special place in my heart because I was there. If I remember correctly there were 3 Mabel matches, 17 Savio Vega matches and Duke the Dumpster Droese cleaned up the arena after everyone in attendance pelted Mabel with garbage.
Posted By: Martin Lawrence (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 01:08 AM
I simply could not remember the name of the PPV, but it was the WCW PPV (Great American Bash?) that happened right after Jim Herd fired Ric Flair. That was the night they gave the title to Luger. I remember watching it with my younger brother, asking why we paid for this bad PPV. It wasn't until the Ric Flair DVD came out that I found out that the wrestlers TANKED on purpose in protest to what WCW had done to Flair. Worst...Pay-per-view....Ever.

There was another PPV I saw in the 90s from WCW that was HORRIBLE beyond belief but I hated it so much I blocked it from my mind.

pretty much all the wcw ppvs up until the absolute end. (sin, greed, superbrawl revenge)
Posted By: jd (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 01:44 AM
King of the Ring 1999. They booked Billy Gunn against two guys they didnt want to lose credibility, so he got cheap wins. Then he faced X-Pac and won in 5 minutes. Worst KOTR tournament (and winner) ever.
Posted By: PsychoPenguin (Registered) on October 19, 2009 at 01:51 AM
I sat through Mabel winning King of the Ring in 1995. How GOD AWFUL IS THAT!!!! At least SummerSlam 1995 had Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon to save Diesel vs. Big Daddy Boobs, but King of the Ring didn't have anything to save Big Daddy Boobs. King of the Ring 1995 voted as worst PPV.

I agree with KOTR 1995. King Mabel?!?! WTF!! And we got to witness the uber-push of Savio Vega with 3 matches on the card. Bad year for wrestling all around. Uncensored 1995 also sucked ass!

Why the fuck are people saying WM25 was overrated? I mean the Taker vs Michaels match is a MOTN, The MITB, Hardy's and the Triple Threat were all entertaining and the Legends match was ok, its far from being one of the worst WM's.

Wrestlemania IV is hands down the worst PPV ever
Posted By: Dwayne (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 05:55 AM
While Heroes of Wrestling is the worst ever, I'll disqualify it as it was clearly run by people who didn't know wrestling, featuring people who were way over the hill.
Instead, I'll go with Great American Bash 1991, a show so bad that the biggest chant from the crowd was for a man who had been fired two weeks prior.
Posted By: Michael L (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 07:21 AM
Halloween Havoc '98, HANDS DOWN.
Hogan/Warrior completely exposing the business, The Big Lazy Kevin Nash spending half his "match" leaning up against the ropes and talking to the crowd, good God that was such a waste of money.

LOL! I was there too and that was the best review for it I ever read. The only other WWE show I went to is the infamous Raw where Nash tore his quad and the botch diva fest.
Hence why I never go to WWE shows anymore. 0-2

The ones that come to mind
December to Dismember - Terrible from start to finish.
King of the Ring 1995 - Worst booked ppv ever? i think so.
King of the Ring 1999 - Awful booking & too many lame matches.
King of the Ring 2000 - again, badly booked ppv & too many short, weak matches.
Great American Bash 2004 - Rey-Chavo was good but everything else was pretty bad, the main event was the Dudleys v Taker.
Theres a few Raw & Smackdown only ppvs from 2003-05 that were shit, im glad they brought back the joint ppvs.

WWF Mayhem in Manchester 1998

King of the Ring 1995
- A tournament where Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker are eliminated in the first round, and Savio Vega vs. Mabel is the finals.
- A bad Diesel & Bam Bam vs. Tatanka & Sid main event
- Only other match is Bret Hart vs. Jerry Lawler "Kiss My Foot" match, which sounds like it might be good, but I don't remember it being anything but pretty awful
Posted By: man on a mission (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 08:42 AM
I can sum it up in 3 little words: WE WANT FLAIR!
I was there for the Bash '91 live when it was in Baltimore, and it was horrible.

First off I love all the WCW fans who cant let go. InVasion was a PPV that featured WWF vs WCW in 2001 not 1998. So the rosters had to resemble 2001. That was how low WCW's roster was in 2001. If WWF was bringing back people who hadnt been on the active roster in 2001 I can see the assine point of having nWo (Hall hadnt been on tv since 1999). For a truly shit PPV see WCW Uncensored 1995. For anyone who say WWF from 1997-2001 they are most likely braindead. The worst PPV ever is Over the Edge though. Just because WCW (a joke of a promotion) made Sting a joke by portraying the Crow repelling from rafters didnt mean we had to kill our most UNDERRATED Superstar in OWEN HART who overall had more talent than Chris "Bad Weekend" Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. Since there are so many mentions of recent PPV's, I take it there are alot of youngsters here.
Take it from me, nothing could be worse than GAB 1991. What's sadder is that two years earlier, the same event was considered one of the best PPV's of all time.

Judgment Day 07 in St. Louis anyone?? Vince McMahon and The Great Khali were in two of the featured matches for God's sake. The Hogan suck fest at Uncencored 95 was horrible. If you want to see a really God Awful card, watch all of Wrestlemania 6, Hogan-Warrior was barely passable and the rest of the card is enough to make you want to pluck your own eyes out.

King of the Ring 95
FOUR Savio Vega matches.
King Mabel
Razor Ramon managing Savio Vega
Jeff Jarrett managing Roadie
Shawm Michaels drawing against Kama
Undertaker losing to Mabel
Savio Vega beat IRS, Yokozuna, and Roadie (in that order)
Tatanka in the main event
Kiss my foot match
No Bulldog
No Owen Hart
And I was there.
Did I mention King Mabel and FOUR Savio Vega matches?
The best part of the night was an ECW chant that broke out during Mabel's coronation.

Well, I was a big WWF mark at that time of the Invasion but still liked WCW. All I'm saying is that even without the big superstars, they could have done many things to make the build better. Like, I don't know, not have Stone Cold Steve Austin beat up EVERY WCW/ECW star in the ring on the Raw before (I believe) the PPV. Like a one-on-one with Booker and Stone Cold could have been a decent match. Anyway, I won't argue further.
I agree on Over the Edge heavily though. It is real sad Owen Hart had to die because of a lame comedic gimmick when he should have been in either a main event feud with Stone Cold or The Rock or even continuing his tag-team reign with Jeff Jarrett (something I actually liked.)
Uncensored 96 sounds worse as Hulk/Savage took out 8 people together on a PPV. Sadly, stuff like that happens with DX or HHH/Cena pretty often on Raw: DX vs. All Raw's tag-teams, Cena/HHH vs. the majority of Raw/ECW. Horrible stuff.
Posted By: Guest#6122 (Guest) on October 19, 2009 at 10:11 PM
