WWE News: Pre-Sale Code For December Smackdown In Raleigh, WWE Themed Episode Of South Park, Shad Gaspard Explains Missing Smackdown
Posted by Larry Csonka on 10.22.2009

- WWE Smackdown returns to Raleigh, NC on December 27th. The pre-sale code for the event is "RALPUNK". [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- Last night's episode of South Park was the WWE themed episode. The boys go to see wrestling, and decide that it is their calling. But when they find out that the school's wrestling club is not the wrestling they want, they start their own backyard company, "W.T.F.". The episode has "Edge", "John Cena" and "Vince McMahon" appear. You can check out the full episode here.

- Shad Gaspard posted on his MySpace page, regarding missing Smackdown due to illness:
k before this thing gets out of hands let me set the record straight. This past Monday I got sick while traveling from Mexico to the US. On Tuesday my symptoms increased drastically to body pains, headaches, vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea. I tried several over the counter medicines that temporarily worked, but didn't help in the long run. Finally I went to or WWE doctor who prescribed to give me a shot of Phenergan, which should have worked. Unforchantly it made me drowsy and brought on cold chills. The office thought it best I leave than try to perform. I spent Tuesday night in my hotel room vomiting and dealing with bad diarrheaa all night (Trust me no one ells was near or around me). When I got back home I dealt with the same symptom all day as my girl helped me get better bye taking what our family physician prescribed, and getting rest.....

I've never let being sick ever keep me from performing, I've worked sick, hurt, and injured before on live events, TV tapings, and Pay Per Views, I just never let no one excluding my partner know how I felt or what I was going through. I apologies to my tag team partner, the participants in my match and the WWE universe, I should have found out all the information about what was given to me before I took it, and prevented my self from getting sick in the first place. I take full responsibility for what happened and I'm sorry. In our industry there is a tradition that the show must go on no mater what, and I feel I have betrayed that tradition bye not performing last Tuesday. The greatest joy in my life is performing in the WWE (Win, Lose or Draw), I love what I do, and I will never let something like this happen agene.

Sincerely,

Shad Gaspard

Is the bad spelling part of his gimmick?

You also betrayed the tradition of speaking the English language properly. "Unforchantly"?

Posted By: Guest#5922 (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 10:11 AM

I genuinely like Shad Gaspard, and hope that there are no silly reprocussions for this.

a couple points...

-I have taken cold remedies that gave me cold chills and left me nauseous and in the fetal position. I believe every word of what he said. A few people owe him an apology.

-Did he steal his high school diploma or something?(nothing racial, its Cryme Tyme's gimmick) Seriously, I'm surprised he even spelled his own name right. I bet he came up with the spelling for his tag team.....

-Shad, my man, didn't they tell you not to drink the water in Mexico? That's where the swine flu came from, ya know! Seriously you can even get sick from drinking beverages with ice in them that was made from Mexican water.

Shad is either living the gimmick or that dude just can't spell.

"Unforchantly" Shad's an idiot

There used to be as many good episode as there was bad episodes in recent seasons of South Park. The first three episodes of this season have all been terrible.

I hate to do this..... but that is some of the worst spelling I've ever seen a grown man use, ever..... that wasn't using netspeak.

Sounds like he is in bad shape, and I hope that he is being honest about his illness. Don't want him to lose a job and all.

Jesus Christ I've seen 3rd graders be able to spell better than this...

Are typos part of his gimmick? Also...myspace?

Posted By: Guest#8189 (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 10:38 AM

Yes, what happened to Shad was truly an unforchant incident, and I hope it never happens to him agene.

That South Park episode was...not that funny. I was thrilled to see the "They took our jobs! DERKA DERR!" guys back, but beyond that I didn't laugh at all. Still, a good writer could do a serious number on the episode unpacking the wrestling themes. It boiled down to stupid trailer trash marks vs. the overly serious and latently gay "smark." The latter wants to see real 'rassling, the former just wants to hear dudes talk. Discuss.

How bad is it that the guy has to apologize for being sick!?!?

How paranoid must the wrestler be in the WWE to have to do that

Posted By: Guest#4971 (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 11:04 AM

The South Park episode was funny, but a little out-dated in it's 'attack'. I only wish the soap opera-centric aspect were still as present in the company as they implied; at least feud's wouldn't be sustained merely by frequent title changes to and from rivals.

While the episode's theme suggested 'entertainment' had supplanted 'wrasslin' to the detriment of the product, that applies more to the Attitude-era than now; today we're hard-pressed to even get the entertainment.

I mean, outside of perhaps DX vs. Legacy (arguably), you have the main rivalry between Orton and Cena maintained simply by repetitive mic jostling, the US title thrown on whoever the dart backstage lands on, the tag-team titles competed between the champs and two guys the costume department put more effort into than creative, and challengers to the womens title determined on who lost the most weight that month; where are the ice-cream vans, the beer trucks, the titles being thrown into rivers, funeral-jackings, pub brawls, cars being blown up, house break-ins?

Yeah, the PG rating perhaps stifles some of that, and yeah, perhaps all that stuff is in the past and we shouldn't just regurgitate it for nostalgic purposes, but at least it's entertainment. I'm not as harsh on the product as some, I like that there has been some investment in the future recently, but where South Park's episode failed was its belief that the soap opera entertainment that made the WWE huge still exists.

Oh, and the suggestion that all wrestling fans were rednecks was rather funny given the irony of next week's RAW guest-hosts...

Talk about perpetuating the stereotype. Did he even spell check this?

Thanks for telling us about your diarrhea, Shad.

Someone get this guy a dictionary!

All jokes aside, at least he's genuinely sorry it seems. Either that or afraid of being canned!

Shad, get your chick to proof-read that shit next time you release a statement.

I will tell you one thing not only will they never be tag champs but this guy will never be GRAMMAR CHAMP EITHER!

Posted By: uke (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 11:24 AM

I'm not trying to be the grammar police here, but am I the only one amazed that he can spell words like "diarrhea" and "nausea" but seems to have trouble with words like "Unforchantly" and "agene"

Posted By: Red Pen (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 11:25 AM

Sounds Legit. The last thing i wanna see is Shad puke all over the ring. Its nice to see him be humble and appoligize too.

Posted By: Jordan (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 11:26 AM

yep. South Park doesn't have "it" anymore. this episode was bad.

Posted By: Phil (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 11:46 AM

Really...you are going to pick on the man's poor spelling when he was probably sick as a dog and clearly unable to perform. His only crime was just not informing others around him. I got done recently with three weeks of Bronchitis. I actually tore a muscle (getting better everyday) from caughing. So I have a little idea of the pain he went through. Get Well Shad.

What is with these WWE stars not knowing how to use proper grammar and spelling? Idiots.

When Shad reads menus, direction, instructions, letters, contracts, street signs, etc., all written in correct English, does it appear to him as a foreign language?

Posted By: Chico (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 12:49 PM

sadly, while the past 3 seasons of southpakr have been the funniest/sharpest yet, and this seasons has been ball dropping hilarious, last nights really wasn't funny or clever. it wasn't insulting, just boring. what a let down.

i was hoping for an animated vince-with-stick-up-ass-walk at least.

He spelled some really long words correctly and butchered some really short words. That makes no sense at all.

Posted By: P (Guest)  on October 22, 2009 at 01:40 PM

Man, I usually don't fuck with South Park, but they basically let the WWE have it for having a two hour show basically without any wrestling on it lol..... love their "wrestling=talking" bit lol....

That South Park episode was lame as hell. I missed the first half of the Ultimate Fighter for that? Thanks a lot, Matt and Trey.

Luckily for Shad, he's rich and talented enough at what he does that he can afford bitches like you to translate. :P
Man might not be able to spell and might be a career lower-midcarder, but he's pulling in over $100k a year at what he's good at.
Fair play to him. Sometimes shit happens and he's addressed it the right way.

I mark for Shad, so I was a bit hesitant to believe he was worried over jobbing to Matt Hardy. I don't think he would've made it this far with stuff like that happening.

And this will neeehhhver, eeehhhver happen agene!

Dear Shad Gaspard,

Homie, I feel ya. It’s cool, dawg. You ain'ts got to sweat it, though. People get sick. It happens. Know what I'm sayin'? What do you expect traveling in Mexico? That country is so bad that lots of people leave there to come to America. There are reasons for that. The government doesn't even care enough about their own people to even purify the water or have sewage treatment plants. You probably just got some weird bug that you had never been exposed to before. It's common knowledge that when in Mexico don't drink the water. That's why so many people drink cervesas and tequila and get drunk and stuff, commit violent crimes, steal from their neighbors, etc, etc, etc, which are a few reasons why so many people want to leave that country. The beer and liquor companies sure can purify the water to make alcohol, but none want to purify water just for people to drink, bathe in, brush their teeth, and wash dishes. Anyway, Mr. Gaspard, it's cool that you didn't make it to Smackdown. Just take lots of probiotics to make you feel better. Synthetic chemicals don't give your body what it needs to heal. Go to a health food store and get some herbal supplements to give your body what it needs. Get some rest and come back when you are ready, not when the WWE doctor tells you when you are ready, because he doesn't really care about you. He just cares about getting wrestlers back in the ring as fast as possible because Vince McMahon, WWE, Titan Sports. etc. apparently doesn't have enough money yet, and that's why they have the "tradition" of wrestlers working sick, injured, or even nearly crippled and not taking time off to heal properly. It's called greed.

Word.

Keep it real,

Your IWC homie,

Chico
