Mickie James Set To Start Country Music Career
Posted by Larry Csonka on 10.27.2009
Will she leave WWE?
AllAccess.com has news that WWE star Mickie James has signed with Nashville based management agents James and Sherry Massaro of Skyline Management Group, who specialize in the development of country music stars. James also signed with Absolute Publicity to handle her public relations. The article says that James will announce her intentions in the next few weeks.
With this announcement, do you see Mickie James sticking around WWE for much longer?
Just signing with reputable management doesn't make you a star yet... so we'll have to see what happens if her music career actually goes anywhere.
... although right now let me say that if she pulls a Rock... that will stop me from buying any of her music, period.

Her stalker will buy 500,000 copies alone.

she ain't Bjork but I'd take care of it. ;)
she'll make more money in Country Music than wrestling. she makes an estimated 92,000 w/merchandise it's 110,000. she'll make well over that in music and no wear and tear on her body.

Something about Sherry's last name doesn't sound good.
Posted By: guesthehe (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 12:38 PM
she should just do porn.
Posted By: Jake Fury (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 12:40 PM
Didn't she do Porn?

FUCK?!

I actually wouldn't mind seeing that...and I am in no way shape or form a country music fan. But I can picture her in some denim shorts and a tied up flannel top and cowgirl boots with a guitar in her hand and singing. That's f'n hawt
Posted By: bighustle (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 12:50 PM
the country music scene is pretty family friendly...Mickie James just does not fit that image

mmmm... Thickie James

If she misses notes like she does her dropkicks she'll be in deep doodoo.
Posted By: doc (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 12:55 PM
I'm a huge Mark for Mickie, but considering that she's been having some pretty bad matches lately, Maybe it will be good for her to have a differnt career for a while.
It may be like Jericho, She'll take a while off, Do a tour, release a CD and see how it goes, and maybe come back Better than ever.
Posted By: Freakzilla (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:01 PM
Massaro? lol
Seriously though I highly doubt Mickie James will do very well. she'll probably sell cus there are guys that desperate but otherwise if you take a look at the females that reign over country...they'll probably loathe James. Especially once her...colorful past activities surface...and they will. Stupid move imo but good for her for trying I guess.
Posted By: Alden (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:02 PM
If she wants to sign couldn't she just take over as announcer? lol better than the new chick they have - that chicks face is messed up and her voice is crap
Posted By: Guest#1590 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:04 PM
I wonder how she will address her foray into porn when that comes up in the media. It wasn't anything too graphic, but it was still porn.
Posted By: GoodNDrunk (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:06 PM
she'd be better off acting. country's family based. I highly doubt she'll be taken seriously...which is fine if she can blow them away and acts humble but since it's James i dunno if that's possible at this point.
I'd be different if she went hip-hop/R&B since WWE's on good terms with guys like Snoop Dogg and Timberland...plus she'd dress like a video girl and at least be worth tuning into.
Country music...oh she's in jeans...see that all the time no big deal after a few seconds
Posted By: Guest#1994 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:08 PM
i think mikcie will stay in wwe a few more years.
there is no guarantee she would have success as a country music singer. she is likley testing the waters for a post wrestling career.
Posted By: Guest#5889 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:25 PM
lilian garcia is also a singer but she used it as a side job while staying with wwe.
Posted By: Guest#1338 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:26 PM
She's probably sick of all the chubby chaser WWE fans.

500,000 copies, coming up!
Posted By: kingave66 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:36 PM
Let me set some of you guys straight. First of all, she won't get into acting, because she can't fucking act at all. She's bad even by diva standards. And she's not pretty enough to get roles just based on her looks.
Second, she's not going to pull a Jericho and come back after a couple of years. This is a diva we are talking about. The ONLY woman WWE would take back with open arms like that is Trish. And she has no interest in coming back, because she's actually very succesful on her own.
With Mickie, look at it like this. It will take her at least 2-3 years to see if she can make this work for her. She will probaly have packed on some weight by then, and her looks will probaly be even more un-diva like than they are now. If we're going based on that clip of her singing karaoke, she's nothing special. And her sleazy porn pictures will come back to haunt her if she were to ever try and go mainstream.
My prediction is she will retire from WWE, and have to settle for being a marginally succesful singer that draws mostly wrestling fans to her shows. Her CD's will be released, but will only sell to her fans and maybe some fans of the genre. In other words, Lita.
Posted By: Guest#1975 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:37 PM
Nice, maybe she will do another foot magazine too...

-"With this announcement, do you see Mickie James sticking around WWE
for much longer?"
No. The "E" is starting to de-emphasize her, presumably because of her botches (Her breaking character at the end of the Gail Kim match a few weeks ago could not have helped her case, at all.), and her character has gotten stale. I love Mickie James, but I'm finding it harder and harder to support her. It doesn't surprise me that she would want to leave.

I can't handle country music. It's like I turn into RKO hearing voices.

you know its a sad world when you go from small time porno star, pro wrestler, now country star what to after that any ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted By: 5150 Proof (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:53 PM
I really don't believe it's a given she'll actually make more money on music. The terms of being successful in music are much different than they were even just 10 years ago. If she turns out to be a great performer (what, she... sings?), is in the right place at the right time with some good luck, maybe. And her name having some star power due to the WWE will help at first. But probably only at first. Though her odds are probably better on a genre like country than, say, rock (genre, not wrestler). In short - I wouldn't draw any big conclusions until it really takes off and lasts for awhile.
For an example of wrestler turned musician gone horribly wrong, check out Lita's Luchagores. Ouch.
Posted By: Ross (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:57 PM
I think mickie will stay in wwe for a couple more years and then retire.
she is the most popular diva on the roster so wwe is not going to dump her.
the fact is that women have a short life span in pro wrestling. many leave to pursue careers, get married, have kids etc.
i think she will be like lilian garcia and try to see if she can make a go of this career while she remains a pro wrestler for wwe.
Posted By: Guest#9973 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:57 PM
She could be a huge star with country fans...
If they bring back "Hee Haw!"
Posted By: Trashy (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:57 PM
She's going to get hated on by WWE fanboys if she does leave WWE
Posted By: Guest#6710 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 01:58 PM
..and NEW TNA Knockouts champion, Mickie James!
C'mon, we all know she's using a music career to get out of WWE to go to TNA. Just like Victoria used "retirement" to get out of WWE.
Posted By: IWC Member #901001 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 02:02 PM
She's Lita 2.0, plain and simple. She won't stick around like Lillian, because actually being a wreslter is much harder than being a ring announcer. Jericho sort of pulls it off, but it's gotta be tougher on a woman. She's also like Lita because of the fact that her "mistreatment" might be part of the reason she's leaving. Lita was sick of the fans getting on her, and WWE portraying her as a slut. Mickie's heat is more with WWE itself. So she can either be phased out(her move to Smackdown is the beginning of that), or she can leave while she's still somewhat respectable and not get buried. If she still wants to wrestle, she can always go to TNA.

If she does make the jump, she better watch out for Kanye West.

Either get into politics or go back to porno. Same thing really.

Being a fellow Richmonder, I have bias towards Mickie (plus the fact that I literally got to watch her go from nothing to the WWE through her local and indy work). I want her to succeed...but she needs to be smart. If she's burnt out with wrestling (which appears to be what's going on), then take some time off...don't set your self up for failure.
Even though Mickie's a country girl, doesn't mean you can sing country music...does country use autotune?
Posted By: Ramsey (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 02:17 PM
Some of you Mickie fans are so lame:
"OMG, WWE can't afford to lose her, she's so popular!!!"
No she's not. She gets good pops compared to the bimbo diva search girls, but she's very replaceable. This is the worst the women's division has been since the mid 90's, what the hell does she really contribute? Did you read the comment that mentioned her annual salary? She makes $18,000 from merchandise a year. That's barely more than minimum wage. So yeah, she won't be missed by WWE.
But here's what will happen. She'll leave WWE by the end of the year. When the coast is clear, she'll sign with TNA while still pursuing her music career. She'll end up on WWE's shit list, and fade into obscurity once her TNA run is over.
Posted By: Guest#3695 (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 02:20 PM
why would mikcie wate her time in tna. it is a minor league outfit and would pay her 3 times less money than wwe.
victoria did not retire, wwe wanted to relase her but let it seem like she left on her own terms.
mikcie is still a top diva in wwe and very popular.
she is just testing the waters for a post wwe career.

Mickie, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish. But Trish Stratus is the greatest diva of all time!!!
Posted By: Kanye West (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 03:47 PM
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING- not even a homicidal rampage with moments of bestial necrophilia- makes a woman less attractive than country music. This is inarguable, not to mention a convenient opinion to post textually since no one who listens to country music knows how to read!
Posted By: Lucius (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 03:57 PM
wow, all you loners hate on Mickie James, and for what. You want to talk about how fat she, dont see it, still hotter then anything anyone on here has every seen.
You want to talk about a serious of bad matches, well that also has something to do with the crappy woman she works with. I mean nobody metions at all that in the last three weeks every time Melina and Jillian have wrestled they have bothced most of the moves, but yet Melina is great.
Mickie is the best DIVA now, with the expection of maybe Mcool, get a life. You all are the same people that trash Cena because everyone does and think Jericho is great, even though he has not changed character since he has been back.

Speak for youself loser. Mickie isn't fat, but she isn't that hot either. If you have seriously never seen a woman that looks as good as her, than you must be living in a cave. You Mickie marks need to seriously get over this chick, making her out to be some beauty. Most of us probaly see prettier girls than her every single day. Those of us that work at least.

"This is the worst the women's division has been since the mid 90's"
And at least back then Bull Nakano and Alundra Blayze (they WERE the women's division literally) had good matches, despite doing it about a million times. Even with a bigger roster the women's division is terrible. There's some good talent at the moment but they're spread so thinly across the brands, when the ones who can work should be on the same show.
And they serve no purpose as eye candy anymore, because WWE is PG.

Didn't she get her degree a couple years back? What happened with that? I mean, if she's going to go through with this singing career, fine but it just seems odd to struggle balancing wrestling and college courses and then just branch off in a new direction.

Your right. The women literally serve no purpose anymore. They can't do the T and A matches anymore. The crowds don't care about them when they wrestle(you can usually hear pins dropping). And there are no real interesting characters or stories like there were during the Trish/Lita days. That's why Mickie might as well leave. She's done just about everything they are going to let her do(if you think anybody is going to match Trish's record your crazy), so why not try something else that your interested in, even if it never takes off the ground. I doubt she'll be any more succesful than Lita is with her music, but it sounds like it might make her happier at this point.

Posted By: ICON (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 10:09 PM
Think of it in terms of money; how much does WWE pay her, maybe $125,000? If she can put together a mildly successful launch and keep a touring career going, she could easily top her WWE pay and doesn't have to take a single bump. Good move on her part. If it doesn't work out, she can return to wrestling, no harm done.
Posted By: RDog (Guest) on October 27, 2009 at 10:38 PM
Wow some people dont know what they are talking about. Country music isnt just for "hicks" as some misguided people say. Mickie did nude magazine not porn movies. Porn stars are on movies. Last time i checked being 120-130 pounds wasnt fat. Come on guys grow up. Mickie will do fine in with her new venture and if she does she can go back to wrestling or use her degree to start up something new.

Mickie james better not leave the wwe... She's the best.. She's the reason why I even watch wrestling... I freaking look up to her, she can't leave... Please don't leave mickie...

Mickie will go far in this biz. As one of her many friends I had the pleasure to help her out with her country music path. She has the talent and drive and as a perfomer myself she should go far. Look for her to hit in the next couple of months. Thanks! D$
