Hulk Hogan-TNA Press Conference Highlights
Posted by Larry Csonka on 10.27.2009

* The Hulk Hogan-TNA press conference today featured Eric Bischoff introducing Hulk Hogan. Hogan talked about TNA and stated he was becoming a "partner" in the company and that he was feeling great and looking forward to being a part of the company. The conference left the impression Hogan may be involved as a personality, but not wrestling for the group.

* TNA President Dixie Carter gave a short speech saying she was looking forward to working with Hogan and that while they have great ratings for a Thursday night, Hogan would be the "boost that TNA needed." SpikeTV's Kevin Kay was also in attendance and gave a brief statement about the network working with Hogan.

* The Q&A session was said to mostly be fluff fan type questions, although one fan did ask Hogan whether working with Vince Russo would be an issue. Hogan responded that as long as Russo stayed in his place and didn't cross him, there would be no issues. Hogan then said that if he did, Hogan would have to take care of it.

* When the topic of Eric Bischoff came up, Hogan did not say Bischoff was working with him in TNA but noted they have other side projects they are working on.

* Obviously, Hogan's book being plugged was a big part of the conference as well.

* CNN's Larry King Live had a camera crew there shooting footage for tonight's Hogan appearance.

I wonder how Jeff Jarrett feels about all of this?

In the same day, Hogan signs with TNA while Mickie pretty much confirms she will be leaving wrestling in the near future. To fat nerds all over the internet, October 27, 2009 will forever be known as Black Tuesday.

oh yeah, oh yeah, best news of the year, best thing for TNA, they will be #1 sometime this year, for sure

Interesting, Hogan becoming a real onscreen partner? What will happen to Foley's storylines then? I don't believe that Bischoff won't have anything to do with this though. Maybe he'll become Russo's boss again? As long as Hogan's has-been entourage doesn't appear on TNA and Hogan doesn't wrestle, it could work out. But I still think it won't.

I can see it now, Hogan comes in, beats AJ for the title, puts over NO ONE, wrestles 4 times a year. If TNA wants to beat WWE this is not it. So now folks like AJ, Joe, Daniels, ya know, the FUTURE of wrestling are going to be pushed further down the card. You know WCW went down in a blaze of crap, so why keep hiring the people who made that happen (Russo, Booker, Steiner, Nash, now Hogan)?

right now vince mcmahon is laughing his ass off.

O please let this mean that Foley's gone! Or in TNA fagspeak: "Fuck U Foley *clap*clap*clap, Fuck U Foley clap*clap*clap*"

let me get this straight, hogan will be ANOTHER authority figure.

tna seems to have more GMs and owners than the miami dolphins.

Everybody knows there's no way he isn't going to wrestle at least some matches.

Trying to find positives here...

Hopefully he'll be limited to the "Legends" division.
Ok, that's all I've got.

There will be memorable moments, but this really kills the youth movement in TNA. You can already assume Hogan will singlehandedly take down the World Elite. He'll do some sort of posedown with Hernandez. He'll face Abyss, and TNA will hype it like Hogan-Andre.

Did Hogan set up the basis for a "shoot" feud with Russo...

This can only be construed as good news for TNA and WWE. Hogan with this exposure will bring in new fans for sure to TNA and Bischoff with his production and creative skills will be a boon also. Whilst Vince McMahon will no doubt love to stick it to Hogan and Bischoff and will have a fire lit under his ass and start to produce more quality television (hopefully)

Lols the only thing wrong with that is Cena brings ratings to the WWE by himself than TNA could do with all their superstars.

Earth to Dixie, good feuds and storylines make your ratings grow.

This absolutely sucks. So one minute Bischoff and Hogan were getting ready to start their own promotion, and now they're joining a crap company that already exists? Russo and Hogan are going to butt heads AGAIN, and Bischoff is going to look like a hypocrite, pushing the same product that he had been criticizing!!

Russo was the reason why Hogan left WCW, so don't expect him to stay in TNA long. Russo is going to cross him again, wait and see.

Hogan and Bischoff, what are those two guys thinking. Money talks I guess.

also as much as i despise Cena, he hasn't had a stranglehold on the belt in quite some time. Actually no one in WWE has, the belts get passed around more than Snoop Dogg's candles

Please, please make Hogan be coming in with a non-wrestling role.

As much as I would hate to cut him down at the knees, I'd feed him EY and Sting's retirement program, if it meant he stayed away from AJ and the World title.

please make it a non-wrestling role. Director of Authority, Face of TNA Management, anything.

While Hogan annoys the hell out of me.... He will make an amazing announcer next to Tenay.

First off let me start by saying I hate TNA. I used to watch it and enjoy it I even ordered 2 PPVs in 2006 because it was an alternative to WWE. The fact is in 2009 it isnt it is a hybrid of WWE lite 2004-2005 and WCW 2000-2001. They need to get rid of the 6 sided ring the novelty has worn off. That being said this is huge fore both companies and I am a huge Hulkamaniac. For the WWE haters CENA is NOT the problem it is HHH. The REAL stranglehold is his title matches either as champion or challenger. Last Night the build started for a major 4 PPV event that would have sold on name alone. Also an oppurtunity to name a NEW challenger for Cena. Key there being NEW. Like Miz, Swagger, Henry, or Legacy in a triple threat. Hell Sheamus or a returning Booker T could have FILLED THE ROLE BUT IT IS HHH AGAIN UGGHHHHHHHHHHH. SAME THING FOR OVER 10 YEARS.

unfortunately tna will do what they always do... 1.2 in the ratings. we've seen it before and we will see it again.

after that they will make hogan the champ in some Godawful wrestling much, burying their own talent before he leaves

"TNA is number 1 today. And only little suckers watch Mcmahon's PG13-crap. The Rise & fall of WWE on DVD. Buy in 2012."

You mean the same WWE that brought in over 60 000 paying customers to their biggest even of the year, while TNA brought in 850 to theirs? TNA sold 1.4% of the tickets to BFG '09 that WWE sold for WrestleMania 25.

Don't worry, McMahon will be fine.

If there was ever a time for Vince/WWE to debut "The Self Destruction of Hulk Hogan" DVD, it's now and finally let the world see what they really think of this bleeding sore on pro wrestling's genitals.
