WWE News: Undertaker Origin Film, CT Democrats File Complaint Against Linda, More

Some Monday WWE news…
- According to Pwinsider.com, WWE is currently developing a feature film which would be an origin story of the Undertaker. The film is currently untitled, has no actors or writers attached to the project, and is in the developmental stage. The film would take place in the 1800s. WWE Studios looks to do the film in 2010-2011, and it would have a budget of roughly $3.5 million, which means it will likely be straight to DVD.

- According to the Associated Press, Nancy DiNardo, the head of the Connecticut Democrats, has filed a complaint against Republican senate candidate Linda McMahon. The compliant is over the fact that WWE had videos that were copyrighted removed from YouTube. Some of these clips were used in releases to attack McMahon's morals and ability to govern. DiNardo says removal of the videos amounted to a prohibited in-kind corporate contribution to the McMahon campaign. WWE says the videos were removed because they were copyrighted material. So he's Logan? He's gonna fight in the Civil War?

I don't care if it's good or bad, I will definitely see the Undertaker movie.

WWE Origins: Undertaker looks like a good idea on paper but if it's anything like 12 Rounds or The Marine, it'll be a trainwreck.

The undertaker movie sounds awesome. Too bad it sounds too alike X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Wow, that sounds like it will be a "great" film.
Posted By: Denver (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 03:43 PM
An Undertaker movie would be kinda cool!

An Undertaker origin movie would be all kinds of awesomeness.

Wow even for the Dems that's really lame!! In kind contribution??? That suggests that Youtube did a service of monetary value to the WWE as a campaigh contribution. Hmmm I believe Youtube has probably also removed eleventy billion other illegally posted copyrighted clips prior to the campaign so calling this move as cheap and weak would be overstating its value and relevance.

What the fuck kinda complaint is it for a company to revmove videos with content THEY OWN!

any video of any WWE show or PPV gets pulled from youtube. why the hell would they make an exception to the rule? So you could attack them?
I'm a democrat...a liberal one at that...and I think that's weak as hell and shows that you can't battle her based on issues that are relevant to today's voter.
Posted By: Polish Post (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 04:01 PM
But, but, commenters on here said that we were stupid for saying removing the videos were against campaign laws. How can they file a complaint if 411 commenters say it isn't wrong?????

a taker origin movie would be kick ass only if ted dibiase and brother love appear in it.
Posted By: rey (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 04:22 PM
Ok, just because it takes place in the 1800's we get two posts talking about it sounding like a Wolverine ripoff? Wait because he's going to have claws and a healing factor which slows his aging and... what? Like there aren't tons of things you can do to explain something like Taker being alive for 200 years. How about maybe he doesn't age because of an infernal pact with some dark entity? Or any of 1,000 other things. Jesus you people are something else.
Posted By: The Jerk (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 04:27 PM
So... it sounds like Wolverine just because it takes place in the 1800's?

Will Teddy Long play himself as the manager of the Skyscrapers?
Posted By: Guest#0464 (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 04:30 PM
So when the WWF was making fun of WCW for having 50-year-old wrestlers on its roster they were housing a man whose lived for over a century? Hypocrites.

I've GOT to see that.
We can see the Undertaker's picturesque funeral home that Paul Bearer described in detail in the middle of Death Valley. Then he burns it down, thereby giving his half brother fire themed supernatural powers.

I hope next they do a Triple H origin movie about how he grew up in Connecticut as a blue blood.
Posted By: Trashy (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 04:46 PM
8 Mile is still the best WWE Origin film.
Posted By: TrueIndeed (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 05:26 PM
They do THIS instead of just trying to get him cast as The Saint of Killers in a Preacher movie? I'll bet money that there's a scene in the Undertaker movie of him putting out the fires of Hell.
Posted By: Tony Majestic (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 05:47 PM
Will there be a scene that shows him taking bumps and doing blow-out drills?

'That suggests that Youtube did a service of monetary value to the WWE as a campaigh contribution.'
Actually, I think that the issue here is that *WWE* was the corporation contributing to *Linda's* campaign. The claim is probably that they used the excuse that they own the copyright on the videos in order to take them down, thus helping Linda indirectly. Remember, Linda resigned from WWE, she's independent of the company.
And add my name to those who think an Undertaker origins movie could be pretty cool. Kane and Taker are the only ones you can really do that with, but I'd rather they stick with characters that they know (like Undertaker) than with another "John Cena's wife/girlfriend/mother/sister/whatever is kidnapped by evil criminal/terrorist/extortionist/pizza delivery man."

I really don't understand why the WWE won't pony up a decent amount of movie for a script and film completion. The concept of an Undertaker movie sounds fantastic on paper considering some of the backstories the WWE has put out. The microbudget has me worried though. It WILL make money but could be a great revenue generator if they sink $20 million in it or so. A decent script, half-way decent actors, and some good advertising could put WWE films over the top. It's not that hard to make money with a half-way decent movie.
Loosen the purse strings, Vince.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Democrats filing complaint because somebody took down video on YouTube? Fucking YOUTUBE?
That's your government, people. Your government at it's finest.

I think WWE's intellectual property rights over copyrighted material overrides that stupid complaint.
For the love of...I mean how much more do these serpants have to harass Linda? Her moral character? Yeah like 99% of politicians out there. Linda has a cleaner track record than any of these elitist bullies.

X-men origins was awesome. This will blow like the rest of wwe's movies. Idiots
Posted By: Guest#7267 (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 08:20 PM
Replace Wolverine with 'Taker.
Replace Sabretooth with Kane.
Replace Deadpool with Mankind.
Replace mutant powers for supernatural powers.
Replace General Whatshisname with Paul Bearer.
...profit?

Thank you Saint of Killers was the first thing I thought of when I read this.
Posted By: Tyrsca (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 09:23 PM
Will the Taker film have the alternate ending where, when Paul Bearer digs the three graves, the third grave is for UT himself, only for him to be brought back to "life" by Papa Shango?
Posted By: ThatDonGuy (Registered) on November 02, 2009 at 09:59 PM
I want it done like that Great Muta video. Either way, worthy contender to the title of Epic.
Posted By: elgrannoche (Guest) on November 02, 2009 at 10:26 PM
While the idea of an Undertaker film is all kinds of awesome, I simply don't have faith that it'll be anything other than a mess. The comics were really neat back in the day.
Posted By: The Tortoise King (Registered) on November 03, 2009 at 02:00 AM
this would also make kane about 200 years old, as they both share a mother right? plus paul bearer would have to be older than that to be kanes father.
Posted By: graant (Guest) on November 03, 2009 at 02:14 AM
Oh man, I actually love this idea! It's like one of those movies that would be played on MST3K or at a B-movie fest. Please start it off in the 1800s like suggested but make sure you have an old fashioned 1800s wrestling ring, Paul Bearer must be in the movie and perhaps have Kane play Sabretooth to Taker's Wolverine. Kizarny could Gambit's role and they could try to get the Boogeyman to fit in somewhere.
As for the sequel, it needs to answer questions of "Who's the second Undertaker?" "Why did the Undertaker go bike gang leader?" Etc. As for a WWE Origins: John Cena, he's from the planet Cenaton and his only weakness is HHH booking.
Posted By: Guest#5058 (Guest) on November 03, 2009 at 02:31 AM
1800's? Didn't Paul Bearer do 'Taker's mom? Gross.
Posted By: Guest#1985 (Guest) on November 03, 2009 at 02:41 AM
Saint of Killers anyone?
Posted By: Fenris (Guest) on November 03, 2009 at 06:03 AM
I'd pay to watch a movie about Kane and Taker. Mildly interesting.
Posted By: Boo (Guest) on November 03, 2009 at 06:15 AM
It might be a good 'movie' if UT doesn't play himself.
An 1870ish western maybe?
Maybe a little too much like Ghost Rider though.
Posted By: demOcratic (Guest) on November 03, 2009 at 09:18 AM
If done the right way which i doubt it would be, could be a good film
Posted By: Guest#3873 (Guest) on November 03, 2009 at 10:21 AM
I want a Max Moon origin story.
