WWE Hypes Dennis Miller As Raw Host
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.06.2009

- WWE sent out the following press release today, hyping Dennis Miller hosting Raw as well as the return of the Slammy Awards:

World Wrestling Entertainment® announced today that comedian and radio talk show host Dennis Miller will host the 2009 Slammy® Awards during a special three-hour presentation of Monday Night Raw® live December 14 at 8:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM CT on USA Networkfrom the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX.

Created by the Academy of Wrestling Arts & Sciences in 1986, the Slammy Awards is considered to be WWE's version of the Oscars. 2009 Slammy Award categories will include: WWE Superstar of the Year, WWE Match of the Year, and WWE Diva of the Year.

It is well known that Dennis Miller has an acerbic wit and can host a live talk show, but how will the comedian fare with WWE's Superstars and Divas as emcee of the 2009 Slammy Awards? Miller joins the prestigious list of past Raw celebrity guest hosts, including NBA All-Star Shaquille O'Neal, Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Piven, television legend Bob Barker, Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell and rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, just to name a few.

Dennis Miller serves as the National Spokesperson for USA Cares, a Kentucky based nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to military families in need. Now in its sixth year, USA Cares has distributed millions of dollars in organizational and outside resources to deserving military families. For more information log onto to www.usacares.org.

lol "integrated media organization and global leader." Those are some funny statements. If somebody said that to me in person I'd laugh, just as I'm laughing as I read this press release. If the NFL issued a press release like that I'd laugh too, but at least they have claims to both.

I never found him that funny, sure hes talented but his sense of humor isn't low bro and makes obscure references only a college professor would understand.

Do you laugh because you don't know what the terms mean? Integrated media organization means they produce media content across many platforms with the same general message i.e. television, PPV, DVD, Internet, magazines and books. As far as them being global, they are. They broadcast to every corner of the globe while also doing live shows internationally. The biggest reason why WWE hasn't suffered financially despite rating dropping since the late 90s is because of how deep they have roots in other countries.

I don't understand why you would laugh at the NFL either promoting a product either. This is the same type of press release the NFL would issue to announce the half-time show of the Super Bowl or some other type of celebrity tie-in with their programming. The NFL does have an integrated media component, but they are also an athletic organization, not a television product. I don't understand why you would compare the WWE to the NFL anyway.

^Maybe those terms impress you are your job as cashier of McDonalds, but to most other people the terms are funny, just like if a cashier at McDonalds called himself "Liquidated Cash Flow Specialist." Which is probably exactly what you tell everyone you are, and they probably all laugh at you too.

only reason dennis miller is famous is becoz he was pro-government during the uber failed afghanistan war

If only WWE hadn't gone with a PG direction in the last few months, we might've gotten Denis *Leary* as guest host. That might actually be a show I'd watch.

I loooooooooooooove Dennis Miller but don't want him hosting RAW for two reasons:

1) Most kids WWE's targeting won't know who he is let alone why he's famous.
2) 99.5% of wrestling fans can't understand Dennis Miller's humor because they're goddamn idiots.

But Troof, won't it be WORTH it to read all of the comments made by the mouth-breathers the next day?

"only reason dennis miller is famous is becoz he was pro-government during the uber failed afghanistan war"

*************************************

Umm... the Afghanistan conflict is the war EVERYONE is supposedly behind. In fact, the liberals and progessives complained that Afghanistan wasn't getting enough attention while we were "failing" in Iraq. Now that the Iraq conflict is all but over, the focus has been renewed against Afganistan by the Democrat-led Eecutive and Legislative branches... who apparantly have decided after nine months that "renewed focus" means not sending any more troops in OR bringing any troops home... just letting the ones over there now just stay and get slaughtered.

Dennis Miller, on the other hand, got flack from the Hollywood leftists for supporting the Iraq war, not the Afganistan war.

Oh boy...Dennis Miller...that'll be a Monday Night Football night. I can't stand that guy's right wing nonsense. Stay on Bill O'Reilly...please!

Oh, that's right. McMahon is a Republican.

They should get Kevin Nealon, Norm McDonald, and Colin Quinn to host next. It would sure as hell be a lot better than Jimmy Fallon, who is supposed to be hosting Raw pretty soon. Seriously, does anyone find him funny?
