TNA News: Hulk Hogan Says He Will Book TNA, Ultimate X To The UK, D'Angelo Dinero Speaks, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.06.2009

- Hulk Hogan was on Bubba the Love Sponge today, and stated that he will be booking TNA and that he will oversee changes in the company. He also said that his contract says nothing about wrestling, and that he will be running the show. Hogan also said that he could fire Vince Russo if he wanted but will be giving him another chance for now. He also added that TNA is spending big money now. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- Later today at Book Soup in Los Angeles, Hulk Hogan will sign copies of his new autobiography. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- TNA will be running an Ultimate X Match on the January 30th Wembley Arena show. This is the first time that Ultimate X will be used at a non-televised event. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- The 2009 TNA Bound For Glory DVD will be a 2 DVD set.

- TNA's No Surrender PPV will be released on DVD November 10th.

- D'Angelo Dinero wrote about his absence from TNA Wrestling on his website, which you can read here. Here is an excerpt:

"Pope would also like to send a very special thanks to his TNA family; from the locker room, to the seamstress, all the way down to the janitor. TNA is truly a family atmosphere and a great company to be apart of. I dunno, maybe...just maybe YOUR Pope may decide to stick around for another 5-10 years! And then there's Dixie Carter, one of the most personal and compassionate bosses that Pope has EVER worked for in this lifetime. It's such a rarity to work for a boss who genuinely care for his/her employees (ESPECIALLY in this business) the way Dixie does."

- Here is the video of Dixie Carter's speech to the TNA roster:

Even if this is kayfabe, this shows an unbound ego. I wonder if his talk more than his actual signing is what made it necessary for Dixie to have a meeting with the roster.

End of TNA

I think Hogan is going to surprise a lot of people here. He knows WCW died and why it did. He knows the whole world has their eyes on him. TNA can't be much worse than it is now and WWE hasn't exactly been lighting things up. Give Hogan a chance. Gotta give it to Dixie, she knows that in order to break through she needs press and buzz and there is no better way to get that than Hulk Hogan. With Hogan booking TNA and Cornette adding his input to ROH, we could be heading towards some interesting wrestling soon and that helps everyone.

I can honestly say that Dixie had me fired up lol.

Lets hope the talent responds and that creative allows them to.

Kofi Kingston going wild on Ortons car? Younger talents overall pushing their way up on the PPVs? Their recent economy shows that is getting better and the expect an even bigger raise next year?.... do I need to say more?

Hogan is lying out of his orange, leathery ass. He's stirring up controversy and nothing more. He could fire Russo but he's giving him another chance? Bullshit.

Damn she told all the young guys that your going to job and like it or leave.

Posted By: Guest#8518 (Guest)  on November 06, 2009 at 05:16 PM

As his last act (because we'll all know the final nail has been hammered) Hogan will have the entire X Division guys dress up in leaderhosen (I'm sure spelt wrong) and sing the Good Night Song" from The Sound of Music. And just to spite Macho, Jay Lethal will be the little girl who falls asleep.

I already met him yesterday! Book signing at the Grove in Hollywood. There was a decent turnout but
it took about an hour to get through the line. They didn't allow any
signings of memorabilia, so the dude in front of me with 5 action
figures and 2 title belts was disappointed. They also didn't allow
any "posing pictures" so everything had to be an action shot. But
besides that, Hogan was really cool dude, and he was there with Jimmy
Hart. I didn't see Knobbs or Beefcake around though. When it was my
turn I suddenly got really nervous and just barely got out "You were
my childhood hero." He seemed a little taken a back by that and said
"Well that's awesome to hear that brother." Then he gestured to Hart
and said "Say hello to my father too." LOL maybe I made him feel
old. I've met Flair, Sting, and Hogan now, I heard that Bret will be
in town next...

IT was a nice ride TNA. Even though i like you for being another option besides WWE. Even though i like alot of the wrestlers there and hope they get work. I don't see this going very good. I love the beautiful people. I love Tarna. I love AJ Styles. I hope this company makes it for people like them.

You are not allowed to question her. That makes her a bitch in my book. Also, what does TNA need to change? It's been getting better since they took the belt from Foley. What are they going to change now?

It looks like that all of the good young talent that has contracts in TNA will not be getting the push that they deserve, if Hogan has his way.

TNA is spending big money? If that doesn't mean Flair then I may be a little bit excited.

I can't believe we're glossing over the news that Hogan is acknowledging Russo and actually willing to work with him, even a little bit. That's pretty shocking to me.

Posted By: poffo316 (Guest)  on November 06, 2009 at 05:39 PM

I wouldn't work anywhere that I couldn't question the decisions of those above me. That seems pretty unreasonable given those men and women are also putting THEIR reputations on the line. Russo tells me to put on a skirt and wrestle? Uh uh, that's going to be questioned.

Good thing I own my comany I guess.

If you question the direction TNA is going, you're questioning me, and I cannot allow that to happen.
Translation. Don't tell me I'm wrong about anything. Don't ask why you've become a jobber when you were getting a push before. Don't ask why you are no longer main-eventing even though the fans love you. If you do, you will be fired. I'm not wrong. I'm the boss. It's impossible for me to be wrong about anything.

Russo needs to die already.Last time Russo had a second chance ..he put the final nail in the coffin in WCW.

HE SUCCKKSS..

Rather have Nash over him,D'Amore over him,Bischoff over him,Taylor over him.

Practically anyone. To me only Dusty Rhodes and Kevin Sullivan are worse bookers.

They might not have put the belt on actors or non wrestlers but they are garbage bookers none the less..

Posted By: MacDollarz. (Guest)  on November 06, 2009 at 07:22 PM

Was that a direct shot at Nash? Is Big Sexy gone?

Also, everybody step it up?????? has she paid attention to these guys, those guys bust their ass when they are in the ring. It's not their fault if they have to wrestle a 2 minute match that ends in a DQ.

I don't know, this kinda makes me want to watch TNA, there is real drama there, underneath the bad storylines and old wrestlers that clouds our judgement. I believe people when they say TNA is like a family. I feel like everyone is out for the company, and not just out for themeselves, if the one's you think wouldn't be.

If Hulk is serious about booking, and doesn't put himself into the ring as a wrestler it could actually work. It is all a matter of if Hogan learns from his mistakes or just raises his determination and makes them again. On paper at least he has the experience of both the ring and the boardroom as well as the clout to be influential with people outside of TNA (to get further talent, open up new locations to perform, broker TV deals, get advertising and funing all that stuff). While TNA has a good mix of veterans that are good draws and up and coming talent, along with a reasonable starting following. On paper it seems like an excellent idea.

But then we all go "But it's Hogan" and start trying to guess how he's going to mess it up.

As I see, either it'll work or it'll be amusing in how it fails. I couldn't see TNA catching WWE before; If they wanted to go for broke and try it rather then just settle for being the simply the biggest small company in the US then something drastic had to happen. This is certainly something drastic. I can understand TNA Smarks getting worried though. But what they need to understand is complaining about it won't help, it IS happening, so either get behind it or give it up. Pretty much what Dixie said to the roster.

I have to question showing this on Impact. We all seem to be forgetting the number one rule in wrestling:"If it's on television it's a work" might this be?Regardless of how legit it might seem.

Dixie Carter's interview with the TNA roster sure made a lot of sense. TNA is the only wrestling promotion that has had the brass to tell it like it is.

It seems like the expectations were shocking to the roster of wrestlers, but I think they understand the goals of TNA (Dixie Carter).

This isn't any different than any other company who employs people. Something similiar happened in one job I once had wich reminded me of that interview.

It's all about goals, and the direction that a company is swaying too. So many people are afraid of changes, but sometimes change is important to make a company grow.

Hell ya. Dixie means business and sometimes one must make oneself known just in case someone steps out of line. All of the interview made sense.

I commend Mrs. Carter on that. She was professional and it seems like she cares about the business otherwise she would not have made the statement (s) she did.

I have never seen this before in the wrestling business, but scripted in another organization I do not care to mention.

These are my thoughts.

Come to California more. We need some Impact in this state.

Posted By: Billy Jack (Guest)  on November 06, 2009 at 11:18 PM

Hey, wait a cotten pickin minute. For the person who said Dixie was a bitch.

Dixie is a compassionate person. That's the reason why she told her roster the statements and comments. She did not say she would not hear anybody out. Although she made a similiar comment. You would need to meet with her in her office to see if she did not have a heart.

Who was the Bozo who said that. That's what I mean. Whenever someone gives good comments regarding TNA some idiot fan cusses, could it be an official from the WWE.. Dixie Carter is not a bitch. She is a person who cares about the business.

For shame buddy. Learn to love it buddy because it's the hottest thing in "Sports Entertainment".

Billy Jack had to post three comments in a row, and not a one of them makes me think he is anything but a douche bag. I will sit by and laugh as TNA is run directly into hell by Hogan. It really blows for me as a fan to see this happening. I actually drove two and a half hours to Nashville on Wednesday nights to see the Pay-Per-Views at the Asylum live. The company is fucked for good now, just as Russo was finally showing some promise. Goodbye TNA...it was a hell of a blast while it lasted, but Hogan is a cancer.

Sullivan created Goldberg. The IWC might be a little butt-hurt, still, over the Benwah incident, but Sully has that old school attitude that could help in the world of McWWE monopoly. (yes, I hate Vince McMahon and his lame product, he has had 7 good years in his time of running the company, he should consider himself lucky to have ever stumbled upon Austin's character and pushing the Rock, other than that and Hulkstermania, he has done little and nothing for the business)oh yeah, unless you count burying every single talent that came from WCW. Remember Jericho's "debut"? Yeah, the Rock buried him before he could even speak. Then he moved on to feud with Chyna. Big step up from WCW and those nWo assholes Jericho. At least in WCW he had the capability of putting on a match against a man.

Hogan is letting Russo stay so he can finally book a match with him then tell him he's useless, he killed a multimillion dollar company, and no one likes his booking style. All on Pay Per View of course.

Posted By: Guest#7023 (Guest)  on November 07, 2009 at 02:20 PM

To all:

I think that this is a giant step in the right direction. Consider this -

Hulk Hogan the brand is unmatched in the history of "Pro wrestling/Sports Entertainment".
Vince gave him an opportunity and he made it work for himself and an entire company.
Say what you will but without Hogan taking the WWF to where he did you would never have had the fan base to sit through the garbage of the early 90's to get to the "attitude era". And Vince Russo, believe it or not, was the man most responsible for that (next to say Heyman, whom they stole the concept from and took it mainstream).
Hogan has learned a lot in the last few years and has seen his life dramatically changed. It is possible he wants to reinvent himself and actually help TNA. Honestly, Hogan never needs to win the title, and probably will not. But as an attraction for a few PPV's and overseas tours, Hogan will draw fans.
WCW was mismanaged by people higher up that Eric Bischoff and I for one would have loved to see what he could have done if he had pulled off buying WCW before Vince stepped in.

Dixie Carter has proven herself and needs not worry about anything anyone has said in a negative light. She saw potential in TNA and she has worked hard to finally see TNA start to make a profit and grow their fan base. I would even submit that she has done what the original ECW could never do in getting a great network that believes in the product and taking TNA global.
Remember, they are still in the process of becoming what they will eventually will.
There have been some really great moments in TNA and yes, some bad ones, but that is all part of growth.

I am excited about the future of TNA and glad that Hogan has taken the challenge and not the easy paydays the E would offer.

So can we, the greatest of fans, reserve judgment and try to remember why we love wrestling?

So what if it's Hogan? He has a good a chance as anyone to lead TNA to higher places and he has the name recognition that NO ONE else in wrestling can offer. He is a household name and can only bring more exposure to TNA. The other wrestlers have to deliver and the writers must build things properly. A giant task? YES. An easy one? Hardly.

The future is brighter than ever for TNA and they need not compare themselves to anyone else and strive to be the best at what they do.
