WWE House Show Results 11.09.09: Cardiff, Wales

WWE house show results…
Thanks to D. Knight for sending the following results along…
The arena was definitely not sold out, I saw quite a few empty seats. Mostly kids I attendance, so I suppose the PG rating is working to an extent.
Casket Match: The Undertaker def. CM Punk to retain the World Heavyweight Championship
Yes, this really was the opener (although after reading about Raw, now I know why). Punk cut one of his self-righteous promos pre match, and got a lot of heat for it. The match itself was your standard casket match. Not bad, but nothing memorable.
Divas Battle Royal: Mickie James wins, eliminating Beth Phoenix last
Winner gets a title shot later in the night. Other participants were Katie Lea Burchill, Natalya, Rosa Mendes, and Layla. Mickie was crazy over.
Finlay and Yoshi Tatsu def. Zack Ryder and Ezekiel Jackson via Shelleigh shot, followed by roundhouse kick to Ryder.
Really fun tag match! It got a good amount of time, and everyone involved seemed to be having a blast. Ryder, like a lot of the young heels tonight, was a heat magnet. I wouldn't mind seeing a programme between Finlay and Zeke after this. They had great chemistry together.
Drew McIntyre def. Matt Hardy via rope assisted roll-up
Pre match, McIntyre cut a fantastic promo ridiculing the Welsh, making him the biggest heel of the night (although, as an Englishman, I found it hilarious). Lots and lots of stalling from Drew throughout.
Cryme Tyme def. Hart Dynasty via Stereo STO/Shout Out
Pretty much the standard tag match you'd expect from these two teams by now. Only me and about 5 other people seemed to be aware of who's Smith's dad was. Damn shame.
John MORRISON def. Dolph Ziggler via Starship Pain to retain the Intercontinental Championship
REALLY competitive match, easily the best of the night. The Mr. Ziggles chant is starting to catch on.
Intermission, and about time at that. It was really short too.
Michelle McCool def. Mickie James via Powerbomb to retain the Women's Championship
Not bad, but not great either. I think this one suffered from people still getting back to their seats.
Christian def. Goldust via Killswitch to retain the ECW Championship
Short, yet fun and competitive face vs. face match. I think some of the earlier matches may have gone too long, because the last two matches were real short.
Rey Mysterio def. Batista via DQ after a chair shot to Rey
Again, short, but good. Mostly Batista on offense, with a few mini comebacks from Rey. With more time, I can easily see this being MotN at Survivor Series.
Post match, run ins galore! Batista continued attacking Rey. Matt Hardy made the save, hitting Batista with a Twist of Fate. Dolph Ziggler then hit Matt with the ZigZag, but was taken out by Shad with an STO. Shad then walked into a Running Powerslam from David Hart Smith (causing me and 5 other people to mark out), who in turn, got hit with the Shout Out by JTG. Tyson Kidd then took down JTG with his front flip neckbreaker (I don't think it has a name yet). Mysterio then cleared Kidd from the ring, before getting a measure of revenge on Batista, with a 619, and a chair shot. The faces stood tall to send everyone home happy.
Damn that was quick. Someone's on their game today!

I hate it when these house show reports are all smarky and stuff. Tell us who won and how.

I love it when they do even the slightest bit of local research to get heat. I got free tickets to a Raw house show in Cardiff last year, and the Miz came out with some Jacks/Bluebirds banter which got him booed, but Big Billy Regal managed to get the whole house calling for him to get his teeth knocked down his throat by saying 'At least I'm not Welsh'. Better than generic face going out and bellowing 'HOW GRATE IT WUZ TO BE IN CARDIFF, ENGLAND' like a clueless cunt.

It's sad how the fans didn't pay attention to Michelle McCool (hence the report saying the match "suffered"). If I was in attendance I would ONLY ever watch her. I watch WWE for Michelle, she is my everything.

I'd really like to see that Christian/Goldust ECW Championship match brought to television. No doubt would be a super back and forth contest involving the two veterans. Of course, after tonight, we may just very well have a "Regal" champion;)
