WWE News: Jesse Ventura Confirmed To Host Raw Next Week, WWE and USA Network Sign New Deal
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.16.2009

- According to a report from The New York Times' Media Decoder, the WWE and USA Network have signed a new deal that will keep Monday Night Raw on the network through 2014.

- WWE confirmed the rumor from earlier today that Jesse Ventura will be hosting Monday Night Raw next week. Here is the full press release…
World Wrestling Entertainment® announced today that former Navy Seal and Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura will host WWE: A Raw Thanksgiving live November 23 at 8:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM CT on USA Network from the Giant Center in Hershey, PA.

Ventura is the star of the upcoming Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, a new series that seeks to uncover the truth behind the most compelling modern day conspiracy theories. The show, premiering December 2 at 10:00 PM ET on truTV, follows Ventura as he travels across the country investigating cases, hearing from both conspiracy believers and skeptics.

Each week celebrities from the world of sports, television, music and film take control of the most-watched regularly scheduled program on ad-supported cable television by arranging matches, dictating stipulations and managing the entire Raw roster of WWE Superstars and Divas for the evening. Ventura joins the prestigious list of past Raw celebrity guest hosts, including NBA All-Star Shaquille O'Neal, Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Piven, television legend Bob Barker, Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell and rock icon Ozzy Osbourne.

Tune in Monday, November 23 to see if the WWE Hall of Famer gives the current WWE Superstars and Divas anything to be thankful for.

Would love to see Jesse go down to the announce table to call a match with Cole.

Heel commentator Ventura + a Chris Jericho match + verbally owning Vintage Cole = Best Raw Ever.

Guess no hope of WWE offering Jesse a shit load of cash to come back as a color commentator and save us from Lawler and Cole.

Next week's host should of been the Gooker. Just saying.

Awesome. Here's hoping he does commentary.

Awesome. I feel like the WWE is treating us by letting us have two retired wrestling legend hosts in a row rather then random celebs no one cares about. Nice.

Hopefully it's in his contract that he doesn't have to share any screen time with the world's biggest no-talent hack, Michael Cole.

I'd rather have WWE offer Jesse a shitload of case to use his voice in some of the 92-94 WCW material, so that the commentary of the matches comes across better than Tony talking to himself.

This too.

But seriously, what a novel concept! Wrestling personalities hosting a wrestling show! Seriously with Hot Rod this week and Ventura next week, this should be some good television. Maybe if we're lucky, Rock will follow Jessie, Stone Cold after, and then we just continue with more wrestling personalities. That'd be nice at least.

No kidding. The Hogan/Warrior WrestleMania match on the Self-Destruction disc is nearly unwatchable with Gorilla responding to unheard comments.

:action takes place:
:nobody says anything:
Gorilla: Oh, come on!

Heel Ventura responsible for a massive HHH beatdown = Best Raw Ever.

So can all of that RIP WWE and WWE is going under talk stop until at least 2013?

I am glad they got Jesse as the host for raw next week. I just need to know something, this was supposed to have been Dennis Miller as the host originally right.

Kendrick was a pothead and Cade was about to get a push riding Jericho's coattails before he had whatever incident he had.

I agree with you but of course the selfish little IWC crybabies will continue to swear up and down that WWE is going to go out of business.

Of course when Wrestlemania 30 comes to MSG in 2014 and then Wrestlemania 40 comes to MSG 10 years after that, all of those haters will once again be proven wrong.

Wow, if Gorilla pulled that off, he'd easily surpass Gordon Solie and Jim Ross as the greatest announcer ever for not only being terrific at the announcing desk but for returning from the dead.

I really like Jesse and respect him quite a bit more since he shocked the world and became Governor of Minnesota as an independant. Seems like a man of integrity and he tells it like it is.

I really wish he'd form an exploratory committee, raise some money & run for President. This country is in dire need of a President who'll be his own man and not have party bosses and lobbyists and corporate whores cutting deals right & left with our lawmakers and telling em' what they can and can't do.

Looks as though Ventura is just going on to pitch his new show. Which is fine. I'll definitely be watching.

Hopefully Lawler gets "reinjured" by Sheamus and Ventura just sits at the desk for the whole night occasionally getting on the house mic to book some matches.
