Affinity Mediaworks Corp. (OTCBB: AFFW) Affinity is pleased to announce that it had completed the post production for the feature film "Damage" starring Stone Cold Steve Austin. This film appeals to a young male audience that drives the current revenues of the film industry. There has been a surge in action films due to the popularity of UFC, MMA and WWF entertainment. It will be the first film released by Affinity Mediaworks and will be sold into the 2010 film markets.
- Carl DeMarco, the former president of global business development for World Wrestling Entertainment, has signed on with the Calgary based Multiplied Media Corporation. Here is the press release:
Carl DeMarco, Former President of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. adds global marketing strength
CALGARY, Dec. 2 - Multiplied Media Corporation (the "Company" or "Multiplied") (TSX:V MMC), a Calgary-based provider of mobile local search services, is pleased to announce that Carl DeMarco has been newly elected to the Company's Board of Directors at the Company's Annual and Special Meeting held on December 1, 2009.
Mr. DeMarco, as former President, global business development for World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE), played an instrumental role in WWE's evolution in Canada and internationally. Live events, TV programming, merchandising, licensing, sponsorship sales, new media, pay-per-view and unprecedented philanthropy round out his many successful business activities.
"As we accelerate our growth across platforms and geographies, Mr. DeMarco's expertise in marketing will be a welcome addition to the Board," said Stephen Lougheed, Chairman, Multiplied Media. "We are looking forward to his guidance as our strategic focus turns to mass consumer adoption of Poynt."
"I am impressed by the compelling opportunity that lies ahead of Multiplied Media and the high quality of the management team and Board of Directors," said Carl DeMarco, Director, Multiplied Media. "I am looking forward to having a positive impact on the Company by leveraging my relationships and past expertise."
Incumbent Directors Stephen Lougheed, Andrew Osis, Craig Bentham, Eugene Chen and Randy Goebel were also re-elected to the Board.
Multiplied is also pleased to announce that Andrew Osis will be adding the role of President to his portfolio. Additional appointments include Lawrence Lee as Chief Financial Officer, Brad Murray as Vice President, Technology, Margaret Glover-Campbell as Vice President, Marketing & Public Relations and Bart McCormick as Vice President, Business Development. Murray and Glover-Campbell have both been with the Company since November of 2006. John Lowe has stepped down from his role of President and Director to pursue other entrepreneurial interests, however he will continue to serve in an advisory capacity, providing insight and advice to the Company.
I'm predicting Steve Austin will be back in wrestling in under 2 years. He's had one theatrical release and now everything is going straight to DVD. The only reason people are watching his straight to DVD films is because he "used to be Stone Cold Steve Austin". Once people start to forget about who Stone Cold Steve Austin was, they'll stop buying his DVDs at WalMart or renting them at the RedBox. His only hope for a lasting career is to try and copy the soccer star Vinnie Jones career. Playing a tough guy in bit parts. I just don't know if Steve Austins ego can handle playing smaller parts. If he don't it's off to TNA or back to make a suprise appearance at Wrestlemania.

Hasn't Damage been out for weeks? How can they only have just finished post-production on it?

Austin's not coming back to wrestling. By the time he gives up on his film career, I think even less WWE fans will remember who he is. No offense to the guy, but he was never able to expand his fanbase outside of wrestling fans. Honestly, only five wrestlers have done that: Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, and Trish Stratus. Don't laugh; in 2009, Trish is much more known and relevant than Austin is, away from the wrestling world. She was smart to use Rock as her role model.
Point is, it's pretty obvious the WWE crowds are totally diffrent than the ones Austin performed in front of. Most of his fans either moved on to MMA, or just stopped watching all together. He's not gonna be like Hogan and come back for a huge nostalgia tour. Too much has changed. His film career will dry up once it's obvious that he can't play anything other than "Stone Cold" type characters. The good news is that he made so much money off of his WWE career, and still does from royalties, that he never has to work another day in his life if he doesn't want to.
