Hulk Hogan Says His TNA Debut Will Pull A 3.0 Rating
Posted by Larry Csonka on 12.10.2009

- The Right After Wrestling show on Sirius radio sent out the following announcement, regarding their interview with Hulk Hogan, and his claims as far as his TNA debut goes…
HOGAN SAYS THAT TNA IMPACT RATINGS WILL "TRIPLE" ON JANUARY 4

When interviewed by Arda Ocal and Corey Erdman of the "Right After Wrestling" program on SIRIUS 98, Hulk Hogan predicted that Nielson ratings would triple to a 3.0 on his debut appearance on TNA Impact on Monday January 4. Hogan went on to list names such as AJ Styles and Matt Morgan as guys with "something there" and that he will look to mold and "bring to life".

The full interview will air on "Right After Wrestling" on Monday night December 14 at 11pm EST on SIRIUS Channel 98, Hardcore Sports Radio.

I Think he meant a 0.3 Rating.
Gotta love that Dyslexic Hulk Hogan!

I can't wait for Hogan to pull all of that untapped talent out of TNA Champion AJ Styles! He sure is going to be something one day, huh?

BROTHER! Not going against The Rock it won't BROTHER!

BROTHER! Hogan must be out of his BROTHERF**CKIN' mind on that one. Oh i for to add BROTHER! at the end there.

I like TNA and all, but it'll be hard to pull viewers from WWE. Even with Hogan. WCW was already established when Hogan crossed over 10 years ago so it was a big deal....not now

going up against a raw that could possibly have the rock as its guest host and the fiesta bowl? Tna will be lucky to pull over what they normally do and thats a 1.0

as usual has been hogan is running his mouth again.

the guy is a complete piece of human feces and he is the one rassling death that should happen soon because the mcmahons and linda bollea will throw a huge celebration. in fact, linda should have hulk cremated so she can flush his ashes down the toilet with the other feces.

mcmahon is going to run a three hour raw, have a big guest host and do everything he can to show has been hogan that he is no longer relevant in 2010 as a fake rassler and more importantly as a human being.

I will be shocked if TNA does a 2.0. 1.0 might be a stretch going head to head with Raw and the bcs championship game.

Posted By: guestwwe (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 11:53 AM

Personally, I'll be wacthing (albeit only if its mildly entertaining)just to spite WWE for giving us fans a horrible product to watch every week as RAW is turning more and more into a joke, (DX and Hornswoggle come to mind)and guest hosts that have to knowledge as to what the WWE fans take pretty seriously and what is being pulled over our eyes. But If the RAW after is anything like it use to be and we have a WWE championship match, then i guess i'll stay to see that segment.

It would be nice, if only to get WWE to step up its game. However, there is selling a product and setting yourself up to be disappointed.

AJ Styles has "nothing there". What you see is what you get. Matt Morgan sucks.

Pull out all the stops to bring in Goldberg,RVD and Mr. Kennedy.

Sadly, I think Hulk isnt too far off. It doesn't help that the IWC will end up watching it with a "Let's watch it just to see how bad it is" mentality.

I can't stand Hogan, but to wish death on someone over something as trivial as professional wrestling makes YOU a piece of human feces.

And can we stop with the talk about the Rock guest hosting the January 4th Raw? It's already been stated that it's unlikely he will guest host a Raw in January due to his schedule.

Not only is TNA going against Raw, they are going against the Fiesta Bowl.

TNA is not going to do any higher than a 2, if they are lucky to get that high

God, for the sake of the wrestling business I hope he's right, brother, but I just don't see it. A 2.0 would be considered a success and I'm doubtful even that will happen, especially if a certain Great One is on USA that night.

Posted By: neverAcquiesce (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 12:11 PM

As pointed out TNA is going against Raw and the Fiesta bowl. They might get a 2.0 or no higher than a 2.5. Which is why they are going out of their way to advertise it now. The problem is its a one time test, the true test is running the show head to head for well most series get 11 to 13 weeks of a season, TNA would have to run atleast head to head with Raw for half of that to see if they can really be competition on Mondays and see if they are truly taking viewers from Raw. But for him to call a 3.0 going against both WWE and fiesta bowl is bold. Especially at the same time that he claims THE CHAMP of your show still has more that you can bring out of him? Way to build up your champion before a Monday night debut. And if anything he has told you in the near future Matt Morgan will be your next TNA champ, he keeps throwing his name in there during interviews.

Would the TNA audience triple for an annoying old guy? Does WWE's triple when Vince McMahon comes on screen?

Posted By: Vince McWoman (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 12:51 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHA.... it's the kind of unrealistic chat that gives TNA very little credibility.

The whole wrestling audience who regularly watch Raw is around a 3.5 these days... so I guess at least 2.0 TNA will be required to steal from the WWE audience that evening. Not forgetting the 1.1 they regularly score who would watch WWE instead if it were on at the same time...

Hogan is just idiot for saying this unless it was in a completely sarcastic tone.

Posted By: Andrew Barbarash (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 12:55 PM

So Hogan? Are the viewers from Hogan Knows Best (1.9 rating) and Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling (0.4, I think) all different from TNA viewers and they're going to join the usual 1.0 thus making it a 3.0?!?!

Posted By: Guest#6093 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:00 PM

i don't get why everyone is hating on hogan and tna, all they're trying to do succeed, do they sound a little ridiculous? sure but they've got to project a positive attitude if they want to be taken serious anyway.

Posted By: al (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:01 PM

I hope he pulls it off. WWE sucks. HHH buried everyone the Rock worked hard to put over and now WWE has no stars and has been putting out crap for years. Why would you root for this crappy organization to succeed when if it does it will go back to the crap it's been producing without competition?

How does it hurt or help you in any way how WWE performs? You WWE marks are the perfect corporate shills and "marks" because of how mindlessly loyal you are. WWE doesn't care about you, they just want profits.

The car industry used to have tremendous loyalty, then cars got expensive and consumers got smarter I guess and now they're forced to actually make good cars. That's what you want out of wrestling too, force them to put on good shows, and maybe move off the retarded PPV model and instead put on some specials or something.

Wouldn't it be great if he introduces Shane McMahon as the new owner of TNA. The timing is there and Shane hasn't confirmed/denied any new career.

Wishful thinking, but definitely big news.

Hogan's old ass has been making senile comments like these for a long time, the reality is TNA will draw around a 0.8 rating and will be sent packing back to Thursday nights with their tail between their legs.

"My fellow Americans. It has recently come to my attention that we as a nation have become misguided in our endeavors to fix the economy and stop global warming. Vince smartest thing to do is put on a better than normal show on Jan 4, and nothing more. By going ALL out, he is telling the viewers he is concerned about the competition (and consequently, that its worth checking out).

Posted By: Guest#3773 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:11 PM

What a retard. TNA has always came across as second rate, but now their reaching a whole new level of embarassment, Hogan & Dixie Carter should keep away from media appearances, all they do is make asinine comments that makes the company look Bush league.

3.0? Seriously? This is the same company that couldn't even sell 1000 tickets to their biggest show of the year not 2 months ago.

Posted By: Guest#9034 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:14 PM

umm no that won't happen. not at all. absolutely not.

1.5 is the projected rating.

Posted By: Kwang (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:18 PM

LOL@U. You People that is. Why are you taking Hogan seriously, are you 8?

impact 3.0 = slamming a 900 lb Andre = selling out Shea = All obvious and intentional boasts that not even Hogan takes seriously.

In other news, Orton hasn't killed anyone (mainly cause he ran from the army like a bitch when he was called up) and HHH isn't Jesus (but lets kill him on Easter to test that theory).

probably the letters N, W and O

Seriously though, all jokes aside, from what I have gathered about this whole hogan/TNA thing, it could work quite well. If Eric Bischoff has some sort of creative controll over things and they fire Russo then they may just be able to do something which will grab peoples attention again (in a good way)

Sure, we all joke about how it is going to be WCW all over again, but I don't think even Hogan or Bischoff are stupid enough to repeat mistakes again. I expect them to come up with something relatively new and innovative and if they do that then they MIGHT just stand a hope of building TNA into something that is able to rival WWE in a couple of years.

for the sake of wrestling I hope that happens

The ratings will be higher than usual. 3.0? Probably not, but I'll guess low 2's. There are enough people that will tune in to see Hogan in TNA. Then, when they see it's the same old TNA and the same old Hogan, ratings will go back down again.

Posted By: Scott B (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:32 PM

If Hogan really does have some sort of control on the business end of TNA, then they are doomed. This man is delusional. I predict a .6, no joke.

Posted By: Jim (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:32 PM

He expects their audience to triple with MORE competition against them on a night they don't traditionally run?
I think they'll be lucky to improve their ratings at all, in fact, I think they'll drop a little.

Posted By: dennett316 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:38 PM

He couldn't even pull in the ratings to keep American Gladiators alive so how the hell's he going to pull a 3.0 rating out of thin air.

Posted By: Guest#1206 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:40 PM

I like Hogan's confidence but there are only so many ratings points to go around.

Raw did something like a 3.2.
Impact did something like a 1.0.

If we pretend that the two viewing groups are exclusive, this means the "pie" is worth 4.2 points. For TNA to succeed on January 4th, they'll need to steal the majority of Raw's viewers AND attract people who don't watch wrestling anymore.

Despite Hogan's prediction, I believe TNA's goal is not to get a high rating. They want to go head to head with Raw on a night where WWE's viewership is guaranteed to fall (due to the Fiesta Bowl).

Posted By: Guest#6262 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:41 PM

TNA head to head with WWE should bring in the highest rating for the company, why wouldn't it, quarter hours will be interesting. I know I'm gonna be flipping back and forth to see what's up and I've seen maybe a dozen TNA shows in my life.

It's sad though that if TNA does get a huge rating that a useless old bitch like Hogan is going to take all the credit.

hogans on crack. thats the only way to explain it.

Posted By: Guest#4504 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 01:46 PM

As awful as RAW has been recently, and even with the Hogan effect, they aren't going to triple their unopposed Thursday ratings going up against much more competition on that Monday.

And if RAW gets a decent host in (Austin or Rock), that'll split even the audience who don't regularly watch wrestling anymore but tune in whenever there are big events.

If TNA get their regular 1.0-1.2 they should be well pleased imo.

Having Rocky on Raw on 1/4 is wishful thinking. It's not like he's at home ready to get on a plane once Vince calls. He's a big name Hollywood actor who's always filming. And as proven before, he's far too removed from the business to do WWE a favor (and honestly, the fact that they went the entire RAW broadcast without acknowledging Umaga, a family member, may not make him happy, even if WWE had a valid reason not to.)

Besides, like it or not Cena haters, you want Rock on the show to "confront" or get into some sort of segment with Cena. And it's already been announced that he won't make that show, so why rush a Rock appearance just to try and dominate TNA, an organization that Vince doesn't consider competition anyway, when the historic moment you want won't happen?

The best you can hope for is a bunch of (poor) pre-recorded skits where Rock makes show decisions from home or a movie set. And that never comes off well. Imagine if Miz or one of Legacy trips over their lines and "...it doesn't matter..." seems completely out of place? It will make WWE look more bush league than TNA is perceived to be.

Guest#2910 - your comments would make more sense if you weren't doing it in a thread about TNA... an organization that is trying its best to copy WWE. Bad PPV's, burying young talent, etc.

It is actually surprising that Hogan is willing to appear on a show that gives away tickets to its crowd every time they tape. Yet you know Hogan is charging them a big paycheck. Poor tna.

First of all, enough with the "TNA is dead cause the Rockz is gonna be on RAW dudez!". Not once has it even been hinted that Rock is showing up. Second, Hogan is crazy to think TNA will pull a 3.0 rating. He has enough star power to easily bring Impact up to a 6.0!

Posted By: Guest#1808 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 02:50 PM

I'm guessing about half (1.5) is around the rating they will get, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Wishing death on him though is a little extreme, especially when pairing it with glowing words for Vince McMahon!

that 3.0 will go well with Wrestlemania III's 93 000 attendees in the Hogan mythos.

You etards do remember that like 6 million people used to watch on Mondays and don't anymore right? There is a market, Vince ain't tappin it.

impact Jan 4: 1.0

This is kind of like that show he did a few years back with the Big Show and claiming he could sell out all 15,000 or so seats and then only ending up with like a 7,500 house or something.

I'm an enormous TNA supporter and I pray that Dixie Carter and Eric Bischoff realize the Hulk making statements like this just highlights the arrogance of Hulk Hogan and therefor TNA Wrestling. THIS ISN'T HELPING Y(OUR) CAUSE! Dixie needs too look at the big picture and realize Hogan is just setting up universal dissapointment for everyone and its making the TNA company look really bad.

Im a TNA fan, but there is no way its getting a 3.0 rating. Maybe if they let TBP strip naked and not blur anything out, then maybe

I hate when people make predictions like this. A 3 would be great for TNA and the industry as a whole, but Hulk thinks too high of himself. He's a novelty act now and could raise the rating on a Thursday to a 2.0, but TNAs going up against Raw and the TCU/Boise Fiesta Bowl. Raw will be lucky to do a 3.0.

wwe is killing the "wrestling" business (5 year old entertainment stuff). tna is a wrestling brand at least...go tna with whoever is in charge!!!

No Angelina Love = No Ratings! (Nothing Against Velvet, Madison or Lacey)

LoL, Hogans gonna lead TNA to its death

Posted By: Guest#8343 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 04:15 PM

Are you kidding me?.. They won't even make it out of the 2.0 barrier that day.

...uhhhh, what did you EXPECT him to say? "Well, you know guys, it's a long process and we just want to be competeitve and if we just do our best and put on a good show, then golly gosh gee whiz we can all go and get ice cream after it's over."

NO.

Of course he's gonna come out and exaggerrate and say ridiculous shit BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE DOES. And he's pretty good at it. I think he's a funny guy in "he has no perception of self" kind of way.

Also, QUIT BEING MARKS. The only people who would care about this comment in the slightest are wrestling fans on the internet. He is working YOU. Don't let him actually get away with it.

Personally i feel that the emergance of TNA and the Hulkster is good thing for wrestling as a whole. A little competition for the WWE might be what it needs to help bring it out of its dormant storylines. And maybe just maybe TNA can steal some of WWEs young talant that isnt getting the push they deserve and give the WWE a run for its money. One thing that would give TNA a shot in the arm would be to go out and sign Shane O Mac and try to use Vince cockyness against him. I say that because in my mind Shane is the hottest free agent out there and he knows how to fuel a fire.

Hogan is laughing at all of you, he doesn't care, just wants to sell the live impact.

for all the wwe universe:
you're right. don't watch Hogans tired act, watch raw, cause hickenbottom will kick somebody - it's gonna be AWESOME!

Posted By: tully (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 04:48 PM

Honestly, I'd really like TNA to become a serious threat to WWE so Raw can get better storylines and can some the stupid shit (DX, Sheamus) but that probably won't happen. Unless a bunch of WWE stars jumped ship, TNA will definitely play second fiddle at best.

"To get that rating they will literally have to off somebody on live tv.

Can you imagine how good RAW would become if TNA pulled a 3.0? We might even see Hornswoggle and Chavo future endeavored. Competition is the only thing that saves us from mediocrity. Good luck to TNA, my animals will be watching!

Hahahahahahaha. Yeah, okay. Alright, sure Hulk Hogan, whatever you SAY BROTHERRRRRRRRRR

Posted By: Dwayne (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 05:50 PM

Goddamn is Hogan delusional. I bet he also said that TNA will run the WWE out of business once and for all starting January 4 as well.

I hope TNA succeeds, but with Hogan there, I hope his segment gets the lowest rating on the show. Just to hurt that big ego of his.

Has anyone said brother yet?

BROTHER

Posted By: brother (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 06:29 PM

I hope TNA is training, saying its prayers and eating its vitamins.

Anything less than a 9.0 is a disappointment.

I see none of you bitching about Trent's comment actually tried using common sense.

You do know that reading about wrestling and watching wrestling are two different things, right? He never said he didn't like wrestling he just said he hasn't watched it

Posted By: Guest#1700 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 07:16 PM

I'm really amazed that Hogan's own head hasn't combusted yet due to the massive inflating he has done over that past few weeks. I've heard the rumors, but I do believe they are accurate. Hogan really IS delusional.. I can see a ratings boost, but it won't be cause of Hogan, it'll result cause of the Monday Night War and intrigue overall.

I hope Matt Morgan runs out and carbon footprint's Hogan's ass!

you guys are all idiots ! Instead of taking a dump on the product ! If you all put as much effort into supporting the product as you did criticizing it TNA would be successful !

Instead you lap up like a dog in the hot sun what Vince force feeds you in the WWE !!

If your a wrestling fan just support it !

Posted By: Idiots! (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 07:50 PM

sorry hulk but it's gonna be around 1.3

and you should just worry about putting on an entertaining show (read: try NOT to destroy TNA and bury the talent on arrival), and NOT the ratings

Posted By: tmw (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 07:52 PM

I think Linda, may have taken Terry's meds along with his toilet seat. If he thinks that Imapct is going to get a 3.0 against Raw on Jan. 4, he has to be out of his mind or on something.

Hogan will issue an apology tomorrow and state I meant a .30

Posted By: Guest#0035 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 08:15 PM

I've never heard of television. I admit that I will tune int to see what Hogan is up to.

Posted By: Guest#4450 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 08:26 PM

They should just get Hogan and Kurt Angle to go out there every week and be themselves (i.e. act completely batshit crazy), THEN I think they would eventually pull a 3.0.

Posted By: king booker (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 09:10 PM

Triple is probably closer to a 2.70, no? Either way, never going to happen!

Posted By: RDog (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 09:25 PM

Man, if I was Dixie, I'd be so pissed off right now. I'm not bagging on TNA, but there's just no way they're gonna pull a number like that. A 2.0? Hell, even a 1.5 against RAW would be awesome for them, but now anything UNDER a 3.0 is going to get clowned on thatnks to Hogan's dumb ass boasting. Seriously, Hogan needs to stfu.

Posted By: Chief (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 09:30 PM

If Hogan is serious in saying that TNA will rate a 3.0, then he really is as stupid as he looks, thinks, behaves and acts. Unless he's gonna feud with Billy Kidman again, that's where the big money is
He's gonna mold AJ and Morgan: the only mold is on his brain

"TNA will beat WWE and then buy them"

You keep telling yourself that. I have news for you, TNA will never kill WWE.

Will you still say that when Raw celebrates 20 years on the air and then stays on the air for another 20 years?

Will you still say that when Wrestlemania 40 comes to MSG?

Hogan also says Pigs will fly.

Posted By: Lonestarr022 (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 09:54 PM

Also, anyone who thinks RAW will be doing anything out of the ordinary (i.e. Rock guest-hosting, big title match) is a mark. Vince is barely aware of TNA's existence, and probably doesn't even know that they're going live on Jan 4th. If anything, expect a Hornswaggle/Chavo Iron Man match to main event the show, just so Vince can rub it in Hogan's face when he still wins the ratings by at least 2.0... for the record, I support TNA, and I hope that they can reignite some healthy competition in the business, because RAW is an embarrassment to watch at this point.

Posted By: Tom (Guest)  on December 10, 2009 at 09:54 PM

With tonight's match lineup, TNA has officially jumped the shark, Hogan or no Hogan.

You all bitched about WWE being stale...HERE IS YOUR CHANCE. Tune into iMPACT and give them the rating they need to MAKE THE WWE WAKE UP. There's no way that Vince will waste the Rock on a night where viewers would be lost with them watching the Fiesta Bowl. Quit bitching about what TNA and Hogan are doing that could kill TNA. If you're tired of the same HHH/Cena/Orton feuds on RAW...then hit them where it hurts the most by watching TNA iMPACT.

Maybe for one night we can pretend to be a fan once again and not a smark.

Difference between Tna and WWE? People actually pay to see wwe.

Posted By: omg (Guest) on December 10, 2009 at 02:40 PM

exactly and another thing people b!tch about WWE and raw lately but they seem to know exactly what happened(whether it be Dx in another skit or hornswoggle)TNA will struggle to get to 1.5 and RAW will get 2.5..
Hogan is a has-been and dixie will find out the hard way what a liability he really is on January 4th

Stupid idea. If people do this then the result will be messed up. I'd personally like to see what TNA would really get.

Posted By: Guest#8868 (Guest)  on December 11, 2009 at 09:31 AM

The only way a 3.0 rating can be guaranteed is if Hogan really goes above and beyond to bring in The Warlord, Dick Slater and Kendo Nagasaki. That happens and don't be shocked to see a 4.0 increase. And hey, with Tatanka now in the picture, don't be surprised when Matt Hardy jumps ship to TNA either.

Trent, you are incredibly fucking sexy. The epitome of gorgeous cougar, my dear;)

3.0 huh, glad he made this statement. It will probably pull a 1.5-1.8 at best and it should be the start of them realizing their mistake.
