More Hogan…
Hulk Hogan on TSN's Off The Record with Michael Landsberg
December 10, 2009
by: Marty Hotts
This was a full 30 minute interview with Hulk Hogan. He talked about his book, citing the same story about having a loaded gun and almost committing suicide until Layla Ali helped snap him out of it.
A question was asked about Macho Man Randy Savage and Elizabeth's death. He talked about deaths in wrestling saying that many wrestlers fail to distinguish the difference between their wrestling careers (fans, money, fame) with their personal lives, which leads wrestlers to this road.
Prior to the commercial break, they showed a "quirky fact" showing that Hogan and McMahon stayed in a hotel room and wrote the entire "No Holds Barred" movie in 48 hours.
Talk was then moved to Vince McMahon. An old clip from December 2002 showed him talking about Russo being a former writer and then worked close to McMahon. He then said in that old interview that McMahon was a friend regardless of the ups and downs.
In the present interview, he talks about McMahon and saying that previous explanations regarding the love-hate relationship they had in the past, McMahon would answer "it was just business" and Hogan said he understood that. He talked about whether there is morality in business when he was asked about it.
Landsberg then asked January 4, you're going head-to-head with WWE - Why? He said for years, WWE has been the only wrestling show you could watch, the only one that was available or "shoved down the throats" of the fans. This changes the wrestling landscape.
He again mentions that McMahon called him up 8 weeks ago for him to come and host Raw and shoot a "Babe Ruth" type return to WWE. He said this was similar to last year where he wrestled John Cena and broke his back. He said he knew how it was going to end.
Hogan said when he signed the TNA deal, he was going to be the McMahon of the company and wanted to be on Mondays to let the fans decide. He noted that the execs may have hesitated about the number that they may get or if it would be a disaster.
Landsberg quickly said but that was 1995, WCW was owned by a major company, had more resources and Hogan was younger, Flair was younger. Hogan backed it up by saying that this would be true to the fans and letting the fans decide whether they want to watch WWE or Hulk Hogan.
Landsberg threw a quick question asking "If I said TNA has signed a 2 year Monday Deal, what would you say", Hogan replied with "that's the first I heard about it". Landsberg chuckled and said that Hogan did not confirm and kind of stated that he didn't know about it, hinting that this may actually be the case.
After the final commercial break, Landsberg asked a lot of questions in his "Next Question" segment. Some key ones were:
Q: Would you let Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake cut your hair?
A: Never
Q: What was the most uncomfortable angle you ever took part in?
A: Having Kidman beat him repeatedly week after week
Q: Talk about the Pat Patterson story when you joined the business:
A: Hogan said that on his first night, he was in a car and Patterson and other wrestlers said he had to give one of them oral sex or he would get "gang raped" (bleeped out on the show) after his match when he enters the showers. At that moment, he said that's not his deal. After his match, he was ready to fight, but was instead greeted with cheers, beer, and celebration. He thought that was pretty interesting joke.
The show should be posted on http://www.tsn.ca/otr soon.
Now he's talking about story lines that never happend?
Also yeah kidman beating him WOULD make him uneasy...EGOMANIA RUNNING WILD BROTHER!

"Q: What was the most uncomfortable angle you ever took part in?

OK. I guess we know know that this version of Hogan came from Bizarro World.

I remember when he wrestled Cena last year at WrestleMania XXV and broke his back. That was a classic match, almost as good as Hogan/Rock!!!

"..letting the fans decide whether they want to watch WWE or Hulk Hogan."
That little bit alone tells me exactly what Hulk Hogan's got in mind. Surprise, surprise.. It's not TNA. I've been tired of Hogan since the 90's. He's so full of himself, it's ridiculous.

After all the moronic, insulting and sometimes even offensive (ala vs Sgt Slaughter) angles Hogan did, the one he was most uncomfortable with was getting beaten by a better, more talented young wrestler like Billy Kidman? Yeah, the story was stupid, but, geez, come on!

Questions Missed:
Is there gonna be a sequel to "No Holds Bar"?
Who gives a better blow job..Linda, Brooke or Pat Patterson?
Have you asked Tiger Woods if you can smell his fingers?
Is it true there is a movie coming out based or your career, with Fred Savage playing the role of Hulk Hogan?
Do you believe that Brett Michaels is a fag, for wearing a bandanna when everyone knows he's bald?
When your alone with Jimmy Hart, Do you make him dress like peggy sue?

"He said this was similar to last year where he wrestled John Cena and broke his back."
I admit my memory on recent wresting is foggy, but did this actually happen?
Posted By: Floyd (Guest) on December 10, 2009 at 11:55 PM
I'm never been a fan of Kidman, but holy fuck. Hogan's most uncomfortable angle was putting over a young guy? Yeah, this year is going to be awesome for TNA.
Posted By: PremiumBlandrew (Guest) on December 10, 2009 at 11:58 PM
Pat Patterson is the worst.
Posted By: Ben (Guest) on December 11, 2009 at 12:06 AM
Yeah, I mean, Hogan couldn't have guessed the success Billy Kidman attain... oh never mind, Hogan is a genius.

"He said this was similar to last year where he wrestled John Cena and broke his back."
BUT! Did he make him HUMBLE?! Inquiring minds wanna know!

Well, to the people who actually went to the website and saw the interview:
Hogan said WWE wanted him to wrestle Cena, but blew his back out and could not do WM 25.
Never said a thing about actually doing the match, plus him saying that, "He said he knew how it was going to end" was about eventually being left out in the cold on stories and not wanting to play politics to stick around.

I watched this interview this evening, and I'm afraid Marty Hotts has misquoted Hogan.
Hogan actually said that he was SUPPOSED to come in and job for Cena, but he threw out his back.

So if Hulk Hogan was called up to host Raw... why wouldn't he do it? It seems like it would have been a feather in his cap to be on Raw one night, and then have TNA immediately make an announcement that he was with the company. Hell, it is on live TV. He could have been on Raw and said something cryptic like, "The Hulkster is going to cross the line."

"Hogan backed it up by saying that this would be true to the fans and letting the fans decide whether they want to watch WWE or Hulk Hogan."
Notice he said watch WWE or HULK HOGAN, not TNA. That quote speaks volumes about his ego (if this quote was actually said and not just due to a faulty recap).

I gotcha, bro! I, too, would be horribly embarrassed if I had to lose to that nobody jabbroni no-name Kidman even once so I completely understand whatcher feeling!

''I'm never been a fan of Kidman, but holy fuck. Hogan's most uncomfortable angle was putting over a young guy? Yeah, this year is going to be awesome for TNA''
Sorry I got to agree with Hulk.
This was during the time where Russo had Hogan doing some stupid ripoff of Austin's rebel gimmick, he was wrestling with black jeans and vest with 'F.U.N.B' (Fuck You New Blood) on the back. He looked silly which would have made him feel stupid to begin with.
Then you have him feuding with Kidman practically out of nowhere without Kidman working his way up the card, he went from versing La Parka and Juvi week in and week out and was known to fans as simply a crusierweight and suddenly fans are supposed to believe 5'9 180lb Kidman has a chance against Hogan.
AND THEN you had Russo making Hulk work a more ''modern'' style and we had Hulk attempting to powerbomb Kidman through tables etc. Hulk's a limited worker who had being doing the same routine for 15 years so it was unfair to expect him to change EVERYTHING that made him ''Hulk Hogan''.
I remember this angle and it was uncomfortable to WATCH as a fan, especially the hardcore match they had at one of the PPV's that was blown spot after blown spot.

Savage is dead?!

Can...he just stop talking? PLEASE?!

Why is he being misquoted? When I saw the interview and he said "He was supposed to work with Cena but he blew his back out and they had to cancel the match!"

met up with Hogan a few days back at a book signing in Toronto. Such a nice guy. Talked with me, let my son take pictures, didn't just let us brush past with a nod. Great guy.
For all you Hogan haters, get a life. Do you really believe Hogan is somehow going to make the crap that already is TNA worse? How?
Memo to people: TNA has never been much more than a 1.2 in the ratings, and is totally insignificant. If Hogan can get a jump to 1.5 or even 2, then it shows he is still a figure in wrestling.

hogan is such a damn liar. his book is full of bullshit lies. he never thought about suicide.
egotistical people like hogan, oj simpson will easily hurt or kill other people like their ex wifes before they harm themselves.

You mean WWE or TNA, right Hulk??

Hogan vs Cena at Mania would have been huge, don't kid yourselves. Even as an old fuck there's still money to be made off him until he inevitably offs himself in Florida.

Thats interesting, because that was the same thing that stood out to me also. Saying Hulk Hogan instead of TNA. Pretty much seals the death for TNA.
And, if I were Hogan, I would have refused the oral sex, just to have several hot guys gangrape me. That would have been great.

I don't recall Hulk Hogan wrestling John Cena... and thats something everyone should know... OMG! EVERYONE! HOGAN'S EXAGERATING! RUN FOR THE HILLS! WHAT"CHA GOIN' DO WHEN LIES TO YOU! BROTHER!

People who can't shut up about their suicide attempt are serious attention whores.

I am sure Dixie Carter would give an opportunity for Shane Mcmahan to work for TNA if possible.
I am sure TNA has a hiring process.
Who knows, I may even work for TNA sometime. Maybe I am a camera man already there. Who knows who Billy jack is. Who am I? Na, I am just a fan form the Bay.
