TNA News: TNA Street Team Gets Ejected From WWE Show, What Happened After PPV Ended, Steiner Injury Update, Bashir Gone
Posted by Ashish on 12.21.2009
Post-PPV TNA news!
- Sheik Abdul Bashir (Shawn Daivari) has legitimately left TNA. He said his goodbyes to the TNA crew Sunday afternoon. TNA sources claim they released him while a source close to Daivari said that he requested his release.
- After the TNA Final Resolution PPV went off the air, AJ Styles celebrated in the ring and stared down Daniels. Daniels left and Styles got on the mic and asked the fans if they wanted more wrestling and that that is what they got. The fans chanted for him. He said that they are going live on 1/4 for the fans. He then wished everyone a Merry Christmas.
- TNA had a street team at WWE's show in Orlando on Sunday night. The street team was promoting the 1/4 special but WWE's security eventually ejected them from the venue.
- Scott Steiner injured his knee during the Last Man Standing match with Bobby Lashley but is said to be OK.
Meh about Bashir, was expecting it to be Deaner gone though.
Stupidest moment was Big Rob getting the X-title shot. Lame.
As for the TNA street team...everytime they have to do some stupid shit like this. I do like the product overall, but this obsession with WWE is pathetic. They will never be acknowledged by Vince so they need to quit being so damn thirsty.

1. Bashir was good, nothing special though. I assume he was one of many to ask for their releases , as rumored.
2.Good PPV, but nothing amazing or must see TV for iMPACT.
3.I would do the same. Get them out of the area. They are competition and are mooching off WWE. Smart-yes. Looks bush league-bigger yes.
4. Get well Steiner. The Hulkster is coming in soon.....

i thought daivari signed an extension not too long ago, but he had nothing going for him anyway, TNA needs to start cleaning house with the undercard and reestablish the x division, when is the last time we even heard about the title, ugh bring back sonjay and petey williams and get kaz away from the suicide gimic and lets re ignite this shit
Posted By: Guest#3946 (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 12:32 AM
TNA is pathetic. Acts like that just goes to show that they're nothing more than a second rate organization.
Even the WWE security is owning them. 1/4 is gonna be ugly for TNA fans.
Posted By: Peep#0001 (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 12:41 AM
tna is just a pain in the ass.
serioulsy, usa and wwe should just announce the 3 hour raw special on jan 4 and bring out bret the has been hart.
hart is a bigger draw than hogan because bret has become a sympathetic figure in recent years while hogan is a piece of shit as a human being with a piece of shit family that is a TRUE reflection of why hogan is only a success in the circus world of pro rassling because he is a failure as a human being.

before u guys jump to conclusions, TNA does not make these "street teams" do anything. These are fans who voluntarily do this. They do not work for TNA.
Posted By: njxwf (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 01:09 AM
Isn't this the second time that Daivari has left a company voluntarily?
Actually quite an admirable move. If you are unhappy. Leave.

Ok, so TNA is pitiful, and their fans are even MORE pitiful.

My seven-year-old son and proud member of the Cena-Tion, DX Army and WWE Universe doesn't want to be hassled by nerds handing out fliers! He has enough to worry about, what with handling his glow sticks and giant foam fingers, to even pay attention to who is wrestling, let alone some dork from TNA!
Thank you WWE for putting these bad people in their place!!! :) :)

The nerve of TNA to promote their live show in Orlando to wrestling fans IN ORLANDO! WWE would never sink to such b.s. *ahem...DX "storms" Nitro on air...*

It's bush league when TNA does it, but when DX trolled Nitro, it was groundbreaking and hilarious.

Yeah, because WWE would never go where another company is putting on a show and try to promote themselves. Oh wait... DX did it

How? His brilliant plan of guest hosts is working great isn't it? Remember when WWE was about wrestling? Fuck, they don't even do bodyslams or suplexes anymore. It's all punch, punch, kick.
Posted By: Guest#5367 (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 02:41 AM
I've always liked Bashir. He is a decent worker and can cut a good promo, shame he is always stuck with the angry Middle Eastern man gimmick

Lisa, if you don't like your job you don't strike. You just go in every day, and do it really half-assed. That's the American way.

yeah..a lot of organizations have street teams and not just wrestling. a lot of bands have them as well..it's fans who support them enough to take time out of their day to hand out flyers and promotional material. I work for an Indy and was at a WWE show today and handed out probably 25 or so flyers to random passerby's and people around my section. I of course did it outside the view of any security and just did it to draw in fans. Granted TNA is on a national network and has the ability to be advertised quite a bit..but seriously..how many viacom networks do you see TNA advertisements on? As far as local indy's, they generally have word of mouth and street teams...

And he knows if he does that, he makes TNA more sympathetic to the fans. Remember when WCW was crushing WWF? ONE of the things that helped turn it around was WWF appeared to be the "little guy" in the fight and the underdog. Don't underestimate this factor in the fight. Vince won't do anything major until he has to.
The Street Team strikes again. Wonder if there is any footage for Impact? Russo would use it if he could.
It's not too cool in my opinion for WWE to be doing s show in Orlando the same night as a TNA PPV, but I doubt any of the fanboys here will look at it that way.
WWE is "their team" in a fight they have no financial stake in. Go Figure. It is business though, but just as classless as sending a Street Team to the show to spread the word.
Wasn't there some report here a while back that WWE was interested in Bashir? Might as well go for the money if he can. He was pretty insignificant in World Elite. He had a good X Division run for a while. WWE won't be much better if he goes there, but the pay might be a little better.

Quit crying about TNA promoting themselves at a WWE event. It's competition within the industry, you're supposed to promote yourself when the competitions in your backyard or when the competition is doing a show in the same area you're promoting your show at. WWE has every right to kick the street team out don't get me wrong, but its the street team;s job to be there promoting the competition and getting potential new fans interested in their product. Nothing foul about it. Its how promoting works. Some of you E-tards need to stop taking everything to heart. It's like when WWE buys ad time during Impact to promote an upcoming house show in your area and your cable company interrupts a regular commercial block to promote WWE. It's promotion at a more guerrilla level, but its all fair...
Posted By: bighustle (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 04:39 AM
Dumbest comments i ever read to be frank with all of you...
So you're essentially saying that TNA doesn't have the right to have a street team...?
...And that street team isn't allowed to perform its main function as a street team and promote their product to other wrestling fans just because its WWE...?
...And that being handed a flier from one organization at another organization's event in the same genre of entertainment is somehow an unfair, uncommon and unlawful practice...?
And this is not to say that WWE wasn't within their rights to throw them out. In fact it's their responsibility to throw them out...
But really, you E-marks (and i mean it, you're truly being E-marks) are being way too sensitive in this case. This is how the game works, get over it.
Posted By: bighustle (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 04:49 AM
Wow that screams serious desperation on TNA's part.
Posted By: Guest#9382 (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 04:55 AM
There's working on getting TNA's name out there and then there's straight up pathetic. This is pathetic on TNA's part.

Exactly. The last thing TNA needs is Vince to care about them. And it seems like he's starting too. WWE simply needs to make a few tweaks here and there to gather in fans and ratings. TNA has years ahead of them before they are even close realistically.
Posted By: Guest#3495 (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 04:58 AM
That damn WWE! They had a great, crusierweight talent like Shawn Davari and they totally wasted him and his great mic skills! Well, now that he's in TNA, Davari WILL be treated correctly and won't have to do any stupid, racially-insulting shit like he was forced to do in WWE! Fuck WWE.... TNA just KNOWS how to use their talent right!!!!!

njxwf- TNA most certainly hires their street team and tells them to go to the WWE events- it is called Ambush Marketing. It is a fairly effective way to promote your product- see the Olympics for effective uses of this. All the companies that are not official sponsors usually have ads that would say "Good luck in Vancouver".
Ah TNA- good ole Ambush Marketing....still going to lose to the WWE. They have bigger pockets and are more important, they will probably win this battle.
Posted By: Jake (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 06:54 AM
Even though I think TNA is overall a shitty, tacky product (with all due respect to hard workers like Styles and Daniels), I have no problem with the "street team" thing. They are banking a lot on the 1/4 show, and it makes sense that they want as many people as possible to know about it. I'll be watching it with an open mind, though I don't particularly expect it to change my opinions.

Nail hit right on the head. Not to mention all those Huckster/Nacho Man/Scheme Gene promos they used to run. WWE has no high ground in this regard.
Posted By: Canucklehead (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 09:28 AM
I really can't understand - WHO WATCHING WWE? Show me - are you kids? That PG-13 shit don't care to any WRESTLING fan exept kids from schools. There's no wrestling in wwe. Wake up a switch the channel, kid.
TNA is not good too - six-side ring, little studio in Orlando, wcw spirit, but THEY ARE WRESTLING. Merry Christmas everyone.
Posted By: Guest#2676 (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 09:43 AM
Shame about Bashir, as has already been said he was a decent worker lumbered with a naff gimmick because of his ancestry. Maybe he'll be allowed to be Sean Davari and wrestle in ROH.

True dat. Oddly enough, when I went to Bound for Glory IV in Chicago last year, there were guys in the parking lot after the show handing out flyers for local indy shows...nothing wrong with that, just guys putting on a local wrestling show, trying to get the word out in a place where they knew there'd be some actual wrestling fans. Shocking, I know!
Posted By: Guest#9989 (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 10:26 AM
I guess WWE truly does fear TNA as competition, trying to sabotage any sort of publicity that TNA is trying to garner.
Just goes to show, Vince may not say much as far as TNA goes, but his actions make up plentiful for it.
Posted By: Wow! (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 10:56 AM
You know it's sickening how people seem to think the WWE is this holier than thou Oh we can do no wrong company. Awww what's the matter? So what are we supposed to do? Just say ok WWE rules and WWE is the best and fuck everything else because there MUST be ONLY 1 company and everything else is stupid? Come on! Having a VARIETY of choices is what life's all about. And I hate to break this to you but Vince Mc Mahon isnt the patron saint you all make him out to be. Oh but of course no matter what anyone else says you're going to jump all over anyone in here that disagrees with your views on WWE. People have a right to their opinions. Ok if you like WWE that's your business. I dont and that's mine. Would be nice if you could make comments and have intelligent discussions instead of the back and forth banter.
Posted By: guest (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 11:55 AM
Oh and for the record I hope TNA does beat WWE for once. Maybe that'll shut some people up.

"It's bush league when TNA does it, but when DX trolled Nitro, it was groundbreaking and hilarious."
Man, that stuff happens ONE TIME, and everyone has a problem with it. I mean, it isn't like WWF had midgets portray wrestlers that had left the fed.
Oh... wait.
OK, this stuff happened TWO TIMES, and people are still making a big deal out of it! It isn't like WWF had mean-spirited vignettes of the fake owner of a rival organization and called him "Billionaire Ted".
Oh, wait. Seriously?
OK, so this stuff only happened THREE TIMES. But it isn't like WWF ever spent good portions of their TV time talking about the other Fed, yapping on and on about how the wrestlers in the other Fed were all old.
OK, so this stuff happened FOUR TIMES...

I might acknowledge TNA's existence in a few years when I buy the rights to their video library.

Being European (well, western European for the purposes of this post) 1/4 reads as 1st of April.
Seems oddly appropriate...

It's no more bush league than when Vince did it to WCW during the monday night wars. Vince needs to embrace TNA because he needs competition. He doesn't have to acknowledge them... His product is pure crap. Maybe TNA should rent a tank and drive around outside a wwf ppv.....oh....wait....that would be stealing Vince's grand idea.....
Posted By: guest (Guest) on December 21, 2009 at 04:45 PM
Daivari is a decent wrestler. Too bad hes gone. Hopefully WWE brings him back. He showed a lot of fire in his anti-USA promos. Hes a good wrestler. Maybe a little small but his decent wrestling makes up for it.

I'll give Vince all the credit in the world, but especially for one thing.
Somehow, even after 10 years of being on top, he STILL has the WWE fans convinced that WWE are the "poor, picked-on underdogs"
Impressive.

That's so 14-or-so years ago.
