More WWE News: HBK DVD Title, TV Ratings From Mexico, Snuka’s Daughter Gets A Tryout, Ted DiBiase On Attack Of The Show, Briscoe Brothers Update, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 12.22.2009

- On tonight's edition of G4's Attack Of The Show, Ted DiBiase will appear to promote The Marine 2.

- The Shawn Michaels DVD that will be released in 2010 and feature his top 25 matches will be called "My Journey."

- At last night's ECW/Smackdown tapings, Jimmy Snuka's daughter, Sakota, got a pre-show tryout.

- The WWE has strong interest in the Briscoe Brothers after their tryout, but cannot sign them until their ROH deal is complete. ROH knew of the tryouts, and has no issues with the team going for them.

- WWE is doing very well in Mexico on TV, as last week's Raw scored a 10.2 and Smackdown scored a 9.0.

- WWE will run a Raw house show on March 14th at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California. Tickets will go on sale on January 30th at 10AM.

Very excited about the HBK DVD. I hope there will be some cool features because I feel i may have most of the matches

Cant wait to see the match listing for My Journey. And those are pretty high ratings in Mexico! Do they use the same rating system as the US?

As long as the Briscoes are allowed to be a good, solid tag team, I think they will do great in the WWE.

Isn't the Triple Threat match from WrestleMania XX supposed to be one of Shawn Michaels' top 25 matches?

Posted By: Bruce L (Guest)  on December 22, 2009 at 07:09 PM

Shawn Micheals top 25 matches? Well that oughta be good. =]

Also, I don't mind the Briscoes going to WWE or The Young Bucks going to TNA, but both of them going around the same time would kinda suck. They're two of the best indy teams going today.

Wow. Maybe when Hogan said a 3.0, he meant in Mexico.

young bucks possibly in TNA
Briscoes possibly in WWE

Next up American Wolves

I'm liking it. I think they should get mainstream acceptance

Anybody know when the Briscoes' contracts are up? I hate to see Ring of Honor pillaged, but it's their own fault if they don't have people to fill the void. I love my RoH, but it'd be great to see Jay & Mark in the big leagues, as well as Aries, Hero, Omega, Cabana (successfully), and although I'm not a huge fan of theirs, Black & Castagnoli would be great fits.

Might as well just call it "Best DVD Ever"

I hope the bloody matches don't get butchered...

Maybe they don't have TiVO or DVR's in Mexico and have to watch it on first runs..

Like most of us who watch broadcast tv and record RAW/SMACKDOWN/ECW the ratings don't mean jack since we don't watch it..

The Briscoes will be called Gene and Dean Ween. They will be high school nerds and will have a monkey called Bubba Ween as a mascot. They will win the tag team titles on their first night then get beaten by Hornswaggle and Carlito. They will then split up on their second night and then get fired.

maybe with all the DVD's coming out featuring everybody's best matches each one will contain a chris jericho match. Rip them onto a computer, burn each file onto a disk....voila chris jericho DVD

while I've no doubt that the HBK dvd will be 45 shades of amazing, I can't help what matches we REALLY don't have that would be considered his top 25? I mean seriously, you can consider WM 18, 20 (which they won't include), WM 21, WM 23, WM 24 & WM 25 and that's six already. Add in the 3 stages of hell, his initial return to the WWE against Triple H, his match against Shelton Benjamin, the 1 hour Cena match and again, we're already almost halfway home. I guess my question is...I'm wondering what the need for this is when they can easily pull up rare matches that aren't as easily available.

"The Fart Break Wind" Shawna Michelle's dvd should be called "Kingdom Come" so that the theme song could be "overrated".

Now tell me who in their right fucking mind would go out and buy a Shawn Michaels DVD when there's already ONE OUT THERE? Looks around. Ah yes I forgot. The WWE puppets would.

Just put together this list of 25 matches, many of which I think WWE will go for. No Benoit, all singles matches (save the tags for a DX DVD), no repeat opponents except one, in chrono order:

vs. Marty Jannety - RAW (May 93)
vs. Mr. Perfect - Summerslam (1993)
vs. Razor - Wrestlemania X (1994) (or Summerslam 94 since most people have seen the WMX one)
vs. Jarrett - IYH 2 (1995)
vs. Owen - IYH 6 (1996)
vs. Diesel IYH Good friends (1996)
vs. Vader - Summerslam (1996)
vs. Mankind - Mind Games (1996)
vs. Sid - Survivor Series (1996) (or Rumble 97 if you prefer the end of the feud)
vs. Bulldog - One Night Only (1997)
vs. Taker - Badd Blood (1997)
vs. Austin - KOTR (1997)
vs. Triple H - Summerslam (2002)
vs. Batista - Armageddon (2003)
vs. Kurt WrestleMania 21 (2005) (or the rarer Vengeance 05 match. I liked the WM match more, though.)
vs. Edge - RAW Street Fight (Feb 2005) (or Street Fight from Jan 2007, not sure which is better)
vs. Shelton - RAW (May 2005)
vs. Hogan - Summerslam (2005)
vs. McMahon - Wrestlemania 22 (2006)
vs. Cena - RAW (April 2007)
vs. Orton - Survivor Series (2007)
vs. Jeff Hardy - RAW (Feb 2008)
vs. Flair - Wrestlemania 24 (2008)
vs. Jericho - No Mercy (2008)
vs. Taker - Wrestlemania 25 (2009)

Having just one Taker match seems impossible, HITC showcases HBK's great selling skills, and WM25 is a perfect ending to the DVD.

The Mania Iron Man Match with Bret is probably too long for the DVD and seeing that most people have seen it, probably should just be covered in highlights. However, a Shawn DVD seems incomplete without a Bret match, so they could swap something in instead of Batista, which I just put in there since I couldn't think of any stand-out single matches from 03-04 against someone new.

What do you think? Would you buy a DVD with these matches?

WWE offered a contract to Richards around the time of Nigel and Dragon, he turned it down telling friends 'He's never go there"

TNA does better than the WWE in several geographic areas (take the UK for example). TNA needs to air a Global Impact from England to show that they actually can draw a large crowd somewhere.

The Briscoes can have good matches with the Harts...but who else is there for them to wrestle? DX will unfortunately squash them. Maybe HBK would put them over, but HHH probably won't.

Actually they do, however less than 35% of Mexicans have cable or satellite TV so the mayority watch free network TV which airs RAW & Smackdown so the rating is always high.

I actually watch RAW live on TVC (It's like mexican ESPN or Canada's TSN), and I heard TNA Impact & Free TNA PPV's are shown on channel 52MX.

Aren't you forgetting the WM 19 match with Jericho? it was Michaels' first wrestlemania since WM 14 and he stole the show..

And your point is?

Obviously you missed the news story about WWE now including Benoit in their retrospectives.

As a matter of fact, Benoit was on one of the most recent Monday Nitro's that was COD!

Now there is nothing for you to bitch about. Oh except for the match choices, and the fact it's not on Blu-Ray, and how they didn't include a documentary, or how it's only 3 disc or............

looks like the Briscoes are heading for ECW, once their ROH deal is done, so they can job out to Goldust and the likes...haha...at least they'll collect a solid paycheck from Vinnie Mac!

I was in Mexico a few months ago and I was surprised to see how big the WWE is over there, I mean its Huge. More kids know about the WWE wrestlers than they know about luchadors.
I don't think you would need TIVO over there because they run repeats of RAW over the week and also AAA and CMLL. The media has more love for wrestling then they do in the states.

As I said, I was trying to make a list with few opponent repeats and fewer Mania matches which are usually available elsewhere. Besides, I think most people thought the ladder match at No Mercy was the best match between the two.

No offense to HBK but, didn't he get a dvd set some time ago? Where's Jericho's?????????

you know that shawn michaels has 2 dvd sets already. they're great and only have a small amount of overlap. i'm intrigued to find out whats on it.
I want a jericho dvd, but I dont think they're ready to do one because he'll want Benoit on it. It will be awesoem when they do
