More WWE News: Lawsuit Between WWE, JAKKS and THQ Settled, Article On WWE Technology, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 12.22.2009

- Broadcastengineering.com has an article up on WWE, and the technology that they use for thier TV shows. You can check that out here.

- MMA fighter Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, who at one time was recruited by WWE, was fined $2,000 (10% of his purse) for an issue with his sponsor, which was splashing the cage with Rockstar Energy Drink after his win at the Strikeforce: Evolution event Saturday night.

- The following press release was sent out today, announcing that lawsuit between WWE, JAKKS and THQ has been settled…
THQ, WWE® and JAKKS Pacific Announce Settlement of Long-Standing Litigation

THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI), World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:WWE) and JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAKK) today announced that they have reached settlement agreements with respect to the WWE® video game and toy licenses and the THQ/JAKKS Pacific LLC joint venture.

Under the three-party settlement, all claims are withdrawn and all litigation ended among the parties without any party admitting any wrongdoing.

As part of the resolution of these matters, THQ will pay WWE $13.2 million. In addition, THQ has entered into a new eight-year video game license directly with WWE commencing January 1, 2010, which is three years longer than the renewal term under the previous arrangement between WWE and the THQ/JAKKS Pacific LLC joint venture. Information regarding the new license agreement, announced separately today, may be accessed at http://investor.thq.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=96376&p=irol-news&nyo=0.

In addition to its preferred return payment to JAKKS for the period ending December 31, 2009, THQ will pay JAKKS Pacific $20 million over the next four years, with payments of $6 million due June 2010 and June 2011, and payments of $4 million due June 2012 and June 2013, and the THQ/JAKKS Pacific LLC joint venture will terminate effective December 31, 2009.

Wow, another 8 years of crap WWE games. There hasn't been a good game since SvR 2006. Sad.

@ Just saying...actually it may have been the first smackdown vs. raw that was the last good WWE game

SvR10 is a fantastic game... offline, at least. SvR07 was the last time a SvR game was playable online, since there were just as many advantages for the fair player as there was for the cheap player. You could balance the game and good (fair) would triumph over evil if you knew what you were doing.

Today, it's all designed for the cheap, repetitive, hyperactive little monkeys who love to glitch, cheat and freeze you.

how can you people diss the smackdown games? It has everything for everybody

Create a story for those who want to book their own shows

create a finisher

simple gameplay the even kids can get into.

SmackDown series is the only complete wrestling game series ever

They should throw out the SvR blueprint and start over

Create modes? GM mode? Pshhh SvR 2009 was a good game because you could make your wrestler run anywhere you want, not just in a straight line. Innovation's the name of the game!

Whoa, no way. 08, 09 were seriously lacking. 2010 is limited on the PS3 & 360 in the create a story mode. You can only used a created wrestler 10 times, which is garbage and lame. There's a reason I haven't purchased this game since 2006.

WWE is Boring. I have to disagree. The first SvR was bad and nowhere as good as 06.

But Here Comes The Pain is King.

I thought he was 'Sir Mo'.
Mabel was the King.

They need to do an HD-sprite based game along the lines of the firepro series. That would be the shit.

"SmackDown series is the only complete wrestling game series ever "

No Mercy and Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 for the N64 beg to differ.

the two best wrestling games were wwf no mercy (n64) and smackdown here comes the pain

Posted By: Guest#1318 (Guest)  on December 23, 2009 at 10:46 AM

I guess this mean no more Classic Superstars on the games. Jakks was the one hunting and signing them.

DOR series was the best since No Mercy-- you guys just don't know cause you never bought game cube (go get the game though-- it runs on Wii!)

Nothing like a bunch of pathetic, loser marks whining about a wrestling video game.
