Too bad really, I wanted competition to make both products better.

Bret Hart returning is a big deal.

Really shows that Vince is already scared of the whole situation to pull out his last ace.

I will flip to TNA when Bret Hart is not on. Raw's in ring action has been flat out stale and predictable, and their story telling has been too short sighted and not entertaining for months.

Brett Hart has got to be the most boring person on the mic that there is, there was and there ever will be. Epic snooze

Bret Hart returning is Huge, but I really doubt that he is Vince's last Ace. This is an in your face I am bigger than TNA, and you can't compete to TNA from Vince. Vince is the master, I am possitive that this is just a way to keep TNA from being a contender, Vince doesn't like compition and will smash it before it becomes a thret, like WCW became. He will not make that mistake twice!!!

Dude, are you serious? He has plenty of aces left to deal... Rock, Stone Cold, and a few other surprises he could throw in there...

At any moment Vince has the money to obliterate TNA. He could buy and sell the entire roster with just his pocket money...

What TNA is doing is akin to what happened in WWII when the Polish Army tried to fight off the German invaders with spears and Horseback...

    TNA doesn't stand a chance.

Bret is one of my heroes, glad to see him on TV. With his inability to wrestle anymore though it is sort of a Jesse Ventura situation; big talk but no action.

I still think Rock hosting would have gotten more attention for WWE, but Bret's return should easily trump Hogan's debut.

Well, if this is accurate, then TNA's rating are FUCKED. EVERYONE in the WWE universe has been waiting for Bret "The Hitman" Hart to come back to the WWE. And you know that he will make it one of the BEST guest hosts spots EVER. In my honest opinion, they can STOP all the guest host stuff, offer Bret about $5 Million a year to be the PERMANENT host of RAW and you watch, the rating will take off THROUGH THE ROOF and the letters TNA will stand for a 3rd rate wrestling company with Hogan.

I dont think vince is doing this because of TNA. The Hart dynasty is there and they were bound to challenge DX, so its only fitting they bring THE legendary Hart. Plus, its time to bury the hatchet. Bret is in the hall of fame, so he needs to be seen on tv.

"Bret Hart returning is a big deal.

I don't think he's anywhere near scared. He probably just felt like obliterating them, like when someone would use a sledgehammer to kill a caterpillar.

I don't know about scared, but he is concerned enough to make a move like this. People are going to claim that this was just a coincidence, but they are full of it. Hart is coming because of Hogan, pure and simple.

Now, Hogan is a better draw than Hart, but there's still potential for a better ratings pop at first from Hart. This is because of Montreal and the fact that he's never really confronted Vince about anything on WWE TV. People will want to know what he has to say.

I'm curious if Bret has one more fight left in him or not. He has said he won't get back in the ring again, but you know he thinks about it. Vince vs. Bret? So, yes, WWE is trying to make a counter move to TNA.

This is good news to the fans in a way. Better news would be TNA actually having a plan, other than, "Hey, look. We have Hogan now."

Hogan being on TNA will get people to look, but if that's all it is, they won't stay long. This could be the beginning of something exciting, or just business as usual.

Either way, it will be good to see The Hitman back on TV.

Bret Hart returns to the 'scene of the crime'...to the place Bret SWORE he'd never show his face again.

That makes Bret a hyprocrite and it's not going to do WWE any good if they pull out the same crappy storylines they've been running for the past month.

    Yawn.

still watching TNA. even bret cant help the train wreck that is raw. Im sure the dx will still run around with the midget and get more airtime than bret anyway. plus the ratings grabber that is that sheamus guy.

and here i thought vince wasnt scared of TNA!!

I'll watch TNA live and watch WWE on tape.

Face it, you can say "suck it TNA" all you want but if it weren't for TNA, we wouldn't be seeing Bret. You should thank and support them for giving WWE a reason to work a little harder. If WWE knocks TNA off the radar, get ready for another decade of just sliding by with crap television, not making any risky moves, and not listening to the fans. If TNA makes an impact, no pun intended, it should be a great decade to be a wrestling fan cause both companies will bust their asses.

Only problem with this is that the vast majority of WWE's target audience (Kids) will have little to know idea who Bret Hart is. Bret last wrestled in WWE over 12 years ago, simple maths will tell you that most people under the age of 18 will never have seen Bret when he was an active competitor. Only the IWC and older casual fans are the ones who are marking out over Bret's return

Posted By: Dave (Guest)  on December 24, 2009 at 05:33 PM

Bret Hart isnt as big as a draw to more casual fans compared to a Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, or Ric Flair.

However his return will bring back older fans, smarts, etc who have been turned off by the current state of the WW"E".

Though I am not a fan of Bret Hart, thank you for helping me be excited about wrestling for the first time since the early part of the decade.

And to the person who made the sledgehammer analogy, you are damn right. This is a Hiroshima-esque bomb that Vince and Co. are dropping on the Huckster and the rest of the TNA crew.

For all those saying that Vince could bring back Stone Cold or the Rock, He's brought Stone Cold back in and he does the exact same thing every time. (but it would be interesting to see him come in with the new wellness policy on alcohol.) Besides who says that either of them would want to do it?

That being said, if this forces both companies to up the ante every week to compete from a wrestling standpoint, then so be it.

Bret Hart coming back to the WWE(outside the Hall Of Fame) is something I never expected to see! I have followed Bret since his debut and have been a fan from the first time I saw him wrestle.

I am beyond happy about this! And yes, I am going to mark out like a little girl if/when I see Bret Hart on RAW 1/4/10! The Best There Is, The Best There Was and The Best There Ever Will Be! It's about time!

Posted By: AndreFan (Registered)  on December 24, 2009 at 07:01 PM

People say he won't be a draw, but just the mere mention of his name gets full-arena pops. Not just the smarks and old-school fans. The ENTIRE place.

This isn't WWE being scared shitless by TNA. This is them saying "Anything you can do, we can do better". I guess we'll see come January 4th, though. If TNA gets anything 2.0+, I think it'll be a win for them, at least in the short run. It won't be the 3.0 they're ALREADY touting, but it'll be a very big improvement.

Then again, you know what you're getting with Hogan. Hart is such a variable, because he is at a stage (and has been) where he can and will do whatever he wants. If he wants to shoot on Vince, HBK, God, anyone at all, he will. That is way more attractive than Hogan putting over Styles and Joe and Daniels. We already know they're good. We don't need Hogan to tell us that.

I just think it'd be funny if TNA got a 1.1 and WWE got a 3.7. I do hope that doesn't happen though...

Can you imagine the pop Bret is going to get when his music hits? It's the Hitman damnit! We all know that if rock was guest hosting NO ONE I MEAN Would TNA that night. TNA is a fair company but with Hogan and all the shit that he's been through(no I'm not taking up for him) Hogan is old news and frankly no one really gives a damn anymore bout him as far as wrestling goes. 12yrs has been A LONNNNNNGGGGGGG Time and Damnit I can't till Jan 4!

Posted By: Mr.973 (Guest)  on December 24, 2009 at 07:30 PM

    Quite a line-up for January --

    Bret Hart on the 4th
    Mike Tyson on the 11th

And I've been predicting Rock to host on the 18th or 25th to promote his new Tooth Fairy movie being released on the 22nd.

TNA will have it rough though I guess they'd do worse without Hogan. They also have that 3rd hour, and if WWE does too many goofy, cheezy skits with Bret, they might grab a few of the channel switchers too. I'm not really a fan of either company right now, but I like competition and another Monday Night war would get me watching again, so hang in there TNA!

    Bret Hart!!???! Seriously folks,

LOOK at what happens when the WWE gets a little competition...After being pretty stagnant for a long time, "suddenly" they do something interesting.

While I'm not saying that the WWE has done NOTHING that's caught our attention or been interesting in the last several years, I am saying that they haven't done MUCH of either.

Now, with even a small possibility of some "real" competition, look at what they do...

As fans of rasslin...we obviously NEED a legitimate rival company to the WWE.

Seriously, all that TNA has done thus far is merely threaten to compete with the WWE.
Consider the reaction by the WWE to this threat, and then think about what they'd possibly do if faced with real competition as opposed to "possible" competition.

As far as I'm concerned, TNA is giving the WWE a swift kick in the ass, and I hope they get the message.

I have my own personal troll on here...c*nt.

Anyway this just shows that WWE hold all the trump cards when it comes to any 'wars'. This will teach TNA a valuable lesson... CONCENTRATE on yr own product and don't attack your enemy intentionally... then MAYBE you won't get burned.

I'd just like to point out, in my drunken Xmas mood I'd like to add, were I to actuallly live in the US of A, there's only one show I'd be watching on the 4th.

    Impact.

From a wrestling fan's point of view, shit, it ain't that hard a choice - a wasted has-been I've watched on his shitty reality show for the past 4
or so years, or, and I'll inevitably say this until the day I die a wrestling-loving loser, THE FUCKING BEST THERE IS, WAS, AND EVER WILL BE! Bret 'The Hitman' Hart - I'd choose Hulk. Hulk Hogan.

Aside from the presidential inauguration earlier this year, the 60's civil rights marches or the anti-war demonstrations before the Iraq invasion, this is the one time I wish I was living in America. Do you people realise how much say you have in the future of wrestling?

    Record RAW, watch Impact.

Fuck what your pathetically moronic mind thinks of the smaller company, ANY kind of competition to the WWE hedgemony would immediately force McMahon into splurging out the best effort he could into his product.

I sit apathetically through each and every episode of RAW, 2am in the morning over here in LimeyLand, and just accept what is being shit into my mouth by the WWE. I'll actually defend most of it in the face of the endless amount of criticism on the related 411 pages! But it is imperative you, Americans, tune into TNA rather than WWE on the 4th.

My say won't matter. We don't get the choice of a live Impact on the 4th.

But if you tune into Impact that night, a TNA fan or detractor, there's a distinct possibility you could force RAW into changing for the better.

As much as I'll defend the endless DX skits - and really, HHH is *the best* wrestler on the mic today - we need the WWE to realise that MVP vs. Swagger, Swagger vs. Bourne, Miz vs. Swagger, Henry vs. Miz etc. WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PAY-OFF WHATSOEVER is not what we tune into the show weekly for.

I fortunately have a penis, so I don't have a problem with Sheamus being champ, but I expect the best possible build for any forthcoming feud. Without competition, you'll end up with f-all build and a shit 'conference' segment the week before Rumble to sell the main-event.

Watch Impact instead and you'll change the WWE's approach. You'll send a message that we no longer tolerate the shite they're squeezing into our mouths.

Even if you hate TNA, you cannot say with a straight face that WWE are providing the best quality product they could at the moment. With competition will come that extra effort.

January 4th. Americans. Watch TNA. Record the Hitman.

Regardless, Happy Holidays to you all!

Longtime Bret Hart fan here, Very happy about the news but wish it was earlier on. Now I really dont care about the stale predictable product put out by WWE. This will be entertaining at the least though, I will watch.

Maybe Bret will shoot and really knock out Vince again. :)

Just upsets me of WHAT Could of been had he not gotten kicked in the head by Goldturd.

But TNA wil have the return of the wolfpack... At least the WWE roster isn't full of washed up stars

"Bret Hart returns to the 'scene of the crime'...to the place Bret SWORE he'd never show his face again.

That makes Bret a hyprocrite and it's not going to do WWE any good if they pull out the same crappy storylines they've been running for the past month.

    Yawn. "

    And Flair said he retired

For all of the "RIP TNA" talk going around by the prisoner-of-the-moment WWE fans, just remember this: Bret can't wrestle anymore, and even if he does show up do you really think that all of a sudden DX is going to revert back to their old ways?

Face it, the Attitude Era is over and will never come back. You all keep saying that Vince is going to suddenly crush the competition. How? The plot lines are at an all time low, and WWE has no concept on how to truly build stars the way they used to.

Sorry, the Hart Dynasty won't all of a sudden beat DX for the tag titles, nor will we see the mid-carders like Swagger or MVP become built like superstars either.

Thanks to trolls like you WWE fans who worship everything Vince does, we will always be stuck with Cena being booked as invincible, DX shilling merchandise, and Hornswoggle skits.

Bret Hart won't change that in one night, no matter how much the IWC wishes otherwise.

WWE is basically treating their fans like an abusive spouse. They've ignored us for 10 years, giving us crap each and every week. Then all of a sudden, somebody else decides to take an interest in us and show us that things don't have to be that way, and then what do you know... All of a sudden the WWE decides to start listening to us and treating us right. Don't fall for it. The second we go back to them, they'll start giving us crap again.

    Go TNA!! TNA!!

Funny thing is most of the people who really care about Bret appearing are the same fans who know it's nothing but a one-off that won't matter for s&*%.

It's really too bad that the Nielson's don't track everyone's TV so unless you're a tracked Nielson family, recording Raw and watching TNA won't make a difference in ratings. Spreading the word might if you can get the word to a Nielson family.

Too bad most people are uptight about privacy; otherwise, I wouldn't mind TV companies finding a way to send data of the shows we're watching anonymously to Nielson (kinda like how websites can count how many hits they get) so at least I *can* make a difference when I decide to watch or boycott a show.

Will Bret rekindle his feud with Jerry Lawler? Because I know the King would have some really funny Stu and Helen jokes now.

You guys need to wake up and tune in to TNA.

Give them the ratings so we can get good raws again. Swallow your pride and help out the business as a hole. Damn!

Interesting, but hardly surprising. This appears to me to be a simple message: If you are not playing in my yard, good luck to you. If you are playing in my yard, get ready to play full contact.

You see this is why competition is good. If TNA hadn't been doing anything special that day do you really think Vince would have upped his game like this? Bring back the wars and maybe I might start watching again.

Kind of makes you wonder how much money did Vince offer Bret to show up and outdo (and probably bury on live TV) Hogan... On second thought maybe the idea of burying Hulk was enough for Bret? Or maybe Vince has also agreed to him come out and beat up/humiliate Shawn, maybe make him tap or bring out a DX-midget to mock him?

On second thought, no need for the last one. Shawn and Hunter had taken care of that already...

Am I the only person on the net that knows how to TVo two programs at the same time?

I'll watch RAW live because Bret v McMahon is way > than Jarrett v Angle and I've already seen Hogans big return once, and that was when he still had a little bit left in the tank. Now it's just sad. He has become Randy the Ram...along with all of the cast that ends up following him...aka Ric Flair. Truly no sadder thing to watch.

Im going to watch TNA, as I feel Hart sold out (not to mention Vince, who could've tried to mend feces for the past DECADE, but it took some other company to hype semi-competitive show to get his ass in gear.)

I thought it was going to be The Rock but this good too. The problem with TNA is that it doesn't feel like TNA. It's like watching WWE five years ago. Thats why I am not that impressed with TNA.

Am I the only person who's not in the slighest bit bothered about Bret Hart returning? He can't wrestle now so it's kinda ironic that TNA is being bashed for a limited Hogan, yet WWE praised for a non-wrestler in Bret Hart?

Bret was cool when I was a kid but I'd personally only get a 'Oh look it's Tatanka on TNA!?...' level of minor excitement before losing interest.

To be honest Bret > Hogan is pretty much an IWC thing.. to casual fans like most of my mates, girlfriend and brothers etc, 'Bret is back on Raw 4th Jan' was responded to by "Bret?... The guy in Pink?", followed by the same disinterest over Dreamer leaving WWE... compared to their knowledge and interest in Hogan/TNA.

It's kinda like when Chris Hero wrestles for a title in your local gym... the IWC is excited by his match with 'nobody #2', while the rest of the world doesn't care.

Don't see what the big deal is over Hart. It's not like the Impact rating WASN'T going to drop to 1.1 after the first hour anyway. Most people prefer keeping the midgets and old geezers in comedy skits instead of making them main eventers.
