TNA News: Awesome Kong Update, Shelley Injured, Impact Viewers, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 01.22.2010
Some Friday TNA news…
- Impact scored 1.9 million viewers last night, close to their best Thursday numbers.
- Awesome Kong is not on the UK tour. As reported, she has asked for her release, as was supposed to talk with TNA officials today about her future in the company.
- Alex Shelley is off of the UK tour, due to continued issues with disc injuries.
- As expected, Bobby Lashley is off of the UK tour, due to having an MMA fight on January 30th for Strikeforce.
Fuck Kong, let her go. She assaults someone because she didn't like something he said?!? Criminal activity, unsafe workplace, she and TNA are both lucky Bubba doesn't sue them.
To all her defenders - how would you feel if you or someone you cared about got beat up just for saying something stupid?

Hahaha, are you defending someone who fuck Haiti up their asses? At least Kong has a heart.

I would rather they push Shelley or Machismo than Orlando.
Posted By: FUZEY (Guest) on January 22, 2010 at 09:41 PM
Seriously, i'd tell them they deserved it. Hell, if it was as dumb as "Fuck Haiti" i'd probably punch their face as well.

I heard that they are going to bring in Big Sky to tag with Vinnie Vegas if the Diamond Stud can't manage to do it.

oh hell Guest#5208, I didn't know you deeply care for Bubba.....but you have to get behind Hogan for people who blow smoke up his ass.

The timing of Kong requesting her release has coincided with the incident with BTLS...but really we don't know the whole story. Maybe there's been other problems she needs to sort out totally unrelated.
Either way, if she is granted a release she is getting out of TNA before it becomes a complete wreckage thanks to Dixie Carter (I say her because she LET Hogan and friends onto TNA with no conditions attached).
Posted By: Guest#0531 (Guest) on January 22, 2010 at 10:44 PM
people used to get their ass kicked all the time for acting like idiots. punching a new interviewer who is already on the outs should not jeapordize a star's position. If two people can't exist, you keep the one that makes the company the most money.
Where does Bubba fit into that? He could be gone yesterday and no one would notice or even care.
Posted By: Guest#0202 (Guest) on January 22, 2010 at 10:44 PM
Kong can and should sue TNA, Hulk Hogan and Bubba for defamation of character and libel. Especially considering that Hogan, who for all intents and purposes is 'the boss', went public with the issue on-air and gave his stated opinion on it.
If Hogan susequently claims he's only a TV figurehead and entertainer, it will completely invalidate the stroke he claims he has at TNA. Considering he's been calling the shots since he arrived, it would be hard to back peddle from this. And Hulk has a precedent of running his mouth as evidenced in the Graziano case.
Kong can then walk away with a sack of money she can donate completely to Haiti relief efforts, and Hogan can take his bootlicks and go the fuck home.
Posted By: Trueindeed (Guest) on January 22, 2010 at 11:30 PM
They should trade half the roster for Kong. And probably could.

Guest#0202 I agree but this is hogan we are talking about. Logic need not apply. Guest#5208 and the rest of you damn llyods, you support this talentless, bigot. Sad sad troll fucks.

Id say they deserved it. He didnt just say something stupid, he said some ri god damn diculous. You got people suffering and going through misery and TNA is trying to get support and relief for them and a dumbass that came in through the back door through another asset comes out and totally shits on it, and an ignorant arrogant moron of a person at that. He deserved what he got, and im shocked that he is still employed by them. The guy doesnt know wrestling, the guy has NO credentials, he totally bashed wrestling fans and b/c he is friends with hogan he gets a foot in the door and a paycheck that could go to someone who can actually wrestle? Sorry but hate kong or not but she is one of many that is going to bail the fuck out of TNA and WWE will pick up and make into a superstar. I find it ironic that the only person that was tna original getting pushed is AJ, the biggest idiot that has stuck his lips and made a fool of for every wweject that has ever stepped foot into TNA. from kurt angle to tomko. But out of all the tna wrestlers that bitched that the wwe would never push them,AJ would never be able to hold it even if wwe did. I dont see a thing in the guy

It was as stupid as making a racist comment is; I'd fully expect anyone coming off with that shit to be subject to a good dig in the jaw- even friends of mine. No-one is above a good punching if it's deserved.....we're talking also about a sport where what happened in the locker room used to STAY in the locker room; this story wasn't just leaked, it was made fun of BY the ruler of TNA.....ridiculous situation.
Sorry to hear that about Shelley, the Guns are always entertaining.

Actually, Dixie Carter can fire Hogan for any reason that she wants to within the first 90 days of first televised appearance (Jan 4th 2010). Hogan mentioned this in his contract status a few weeks ago.

Posted By: Guest#5208 (Guest) on January 22, 2010 at 09:15 PM
First off, I don't know anybody as stupid as Bubba. This is by choice.
Second, I only have Hogan's and Bubba's side of this. Good luck building a lawsuit on that. You think Bubba asked that Kong not be fired out of the goodness of his heart? Maybe he doesn't have anything to back up his claims. I bet the guys in the back have some amnesia.
Third, what you said may be true of a normal work place. If you haven't noticed, wrestling isn't like the normal world. Lots of things are settled physically. Unsafe workplace is wrestling.
Fourth, stupid has its consequences. So as a manager I guess I'd be forced to discipline Kong. But I'd still be laughing about what she did, just on the inside.
Fifth, if Russo gets fired in the near future, Hogan and TNA will be lucky if they don't get sued. Because these geniuses decided to go on air with this and Hogan blamed Russo. Hostile work environment.
Sixth, while this is no excuse it is obvious that Kong only wanted to rough Bubba up a bit. Because if she wanted to do more she could have.

A) She isn't even Haitian! She is of Holland/African decent and was born as Kia Stevens in Carson, California!~
B) She attacked someone for speaking his mind! All of which was not directed towards her at all!
So where do you get defamation of character and libel? You sir fail as a arm chair/back seat lawyer!
She attacked a fellow employee of TNA!
Did Kanye get smashed for saying F George Bush he doesn't care about Black people? No he didn't ! Why cause it's free speech!
Bubba words were poorly used but his to use none the less he was a big supporter of the Hurricane relief efforts and pissed the GOVT didn't do all that was possible and still haven't! Yet Haiti is takes more attention when our own COuntry needs help !
And i totally agree with him ! Not his choice of words but his projected thoughts on the matter about saving people on home soil!

Guest#5208 posting again - let me clarify: fuck Bubba too. If TNA let him go for his comment I'd have no problem with it.
But defending assault against someone who said something stupid is asinine. Yeah, you're all a bunch of tough guys that think violence is a valid solution in the real world. That's sad and pathetic.
Posted By: Guest#1607 (Guest) on January 23, 2010 at 03:16 AM
I would hope that I would be able to screen my friends or people that I cared about, and If someone I did care about said some ignorant insensitive shit I would punch them in the mouth myself. I support Kong. Seems like a good person. Sometimes people deserve to get punched in the mouth and that idiot is one of them, maybe he'll think before he speaks.

Federal law states that it's not only legal but mandatory to punch Bubba in the face any time you see him.
On public holidays, you're supposed to hang him by his ankles from a tree and beat him like a piñata.

See, you are whats wrong with the world nowdays.
When I was a young dude, if someone opened their mouth and said something that stupid they got smacked, plain and simple. They either learned to shut the fuck up, or they got smacked some more.
Plus, Bubba is a bitch, and we all know what Kong does to bitches....

lol @ all the 14 year old nerds commenting. You've never had jobs and you've never gotten into fights, who do you think you are fooling?
In real society you don't get to physically attack someone for something they said. That is how the legal system is set up, that is how the repercussions are at school and at work. Kong is lucky that Bubba isn't pressing charges, she'd be in jail. He can also sue TNA for an unsafe workplace, and he'd win.
Meanwhile Kong has nothing. She assaulted him, truth is a complete defense to any defamation suit. I know you losers don't work, and you're too wimpy to do it anyway, but why don't you punch someone in the face the first time they say something racist or insensitive? Let's not act like the world is full of people that always say nice things and are good people. You will find assholes in every walk of life, if you haven't then that means you either don't know anybody or you're purposely ignoring it because the comments aren't directed at you specifically. I guarantee at everyone's workplace or at school somebody has said at least one racist comment.

I went to the first Dublin TNA show back in Jan 09 and Sheeley worked a match there despite having issues with discs in his back.......if this is the same injury thats an impressive bit of working through the pain

Hogan and Bubba took shots at Kong on Bubba's show a day or so after the fight occurred. Hogan's remarks could easily be called sexist/libellous if he was proven to be the current decision maker in TNA. It would be easy to prove unfit working conditions if this were to happen.

I agree with this 100%, I can't believe how sensitive our world is getting, Bubba didn't say anything racist, he said fuck Haiti! not Fuck haiti because they're haitians and he hates them. He said Fuck Haiti, we have our own problems.
Has anyone seen Haiti before the quake? Why weren't people helping them then? Because its PR work, this puts a smiley face on america for the rest of the world to see, oh there's a disaster? America will help! People need to get their heads out of their asses and realize that the world is not all smiles and sunshine.

I may not be the biggest fan of Kong but hell that lard ass Bubba deserved every bit of that assault, too bad she didn't knocked him out, that would be priceless and well deserved. I'm sick to hear or see him on Impact so good that someone finally took actions against him.
Posted By: slurper (Guest) on January 23, 2010 at 02:39 PM
Theres been assaults in other sports . Does anyone remember the pro basketball player who went after the coach and choked him during practice. Remember what happened to that guy? I thnk he got a slap on the wrist and was allowed to stay onthe team.
Fights happen backstage in wrestling , it is part of that lifestyle.
Posted By: gutter (Guest) on January 23, 2010 at 03:40 PM
I don't condone the manner of Kong's actions, and think she should be punished in some way. Unforgivably stupid as Bubba's words were, he simply wasn't worth it. I mean by God, I think she's awesome and I have no sympathy whatsoever for Bubba, but the freedom to express an opinion without threat of violence is something that needs to be upheld, no matter how offensive or stupid that opinion is.
Yet professional wrestling is FULL of stories where people who say or do stupid things get a violent receipt. For Kong to be punished where so many others have been let off the hook is hypocritical.
Personally, I'd give Kong the TNA World Title right now. But society has rules that need to be upheld.

There goes the plan when visiting the Impact Zone. It was planned for me to personally give her a bouqet of flowers.
There goes the dinner. It's all Jim Cornette's fault.
Posted By: Bozo the Clown (Guest) on January 23, 2010 at 08:23 PM
The stuff about freedom of expression and how people don't settle things this way is wrong.
People do settle things this way. It is the reason we have laws against assault. They wouldn't bother with a law against something that never happens.
Don't believe me? Insult some bikers when no witness are around.
The First Amendment limits what the government can do to limit free speech, not what private individuals can do.
While people have the right to free speech, they are not free of consequences. Life is about consequences.
What Kong did was wrong. But it was consistent with the way wrestlers have always handled things. Maybe that culture needs to change, but Bubba wanted to be part of that culture. I'm guessing he failed the first test - he whined about it publically.
Sure Kong should face some punishment, but the Sponge gets no sympathy from me.
To those who think we should only focus on ourselves and not bother helping those who are dead and dying. You should learn compassion for others. The lives of those in Haiti, their best days ever, are worst than your worst day ever.
If and when you need help from others, I do hope you get it. On that day, you should understand that those who helped you have things in their life that could be improved, need help, and deserve attention. Yet they helped you.
Yes, America is not at a high point in history right now. But our lives are still materially rich. We have had it so easy that people often forget this.
The ability to have compassion for others is part of what makes us human.

Whats the new National drink of Haiti?
A Martini, shaken not stirred.
Haiti has a new national anthem;
Whole Lotta Shaken Goin On.
What do you call 100,000 dead haitians?
A Good start.
I would love to see Kong try that shit with say Scott Steiner. Bubba should have hit the ugly cunt in the mouth. On the other hand, none of them should have made it public. Fucking morons and their twitter accounts, they all think they need to run on there and talk about every fucking thing that happens.
Bubba should have stayed quiet, and Kong should have been suspended. And after Bubba announced what happened he should have been suspended, or even fired.
She is the in ring talent, and ultimately she is of the most value to the company.
I miss the good old days when wrestling was full of men who handled shit like men. Imagine this bitch hitting Dick the Bruiser? Or getting in the face of the Dynamite kid?
They would shit in her bag, and slap her like a hoe.

Fuck Haiti. This is America and we have enough to deal with. Maybe if Haiti wasn't so corrupt their would have been less devastation because there would have been a little thing called building codes which is the main reason the devastation was so severe. We in our own country have 1.5 million homeless people die every year. Let's help our own first for once. And if anyone here or even King Kong herself doesn't like it you can suck my substandard Irish pecker!
